Am I the only one who thought of Bring Me The Horizon when I saw the title? XD heh
I think it looks quite well with everything else :]
Btw, for the a chest idea, I don't know if it's been suggested but make it look like it's full of buttons, switches, levers and.. Stuff that makes things do other stuff :tongue.gif:
First post for my account, and I honestly think that has has got to be the second best mod I've ever seen for anything (It's right behind the Firestorm Over Kronus mod for Dawn of War Dark Crusade). It just looks beautiful. The little cogs in the blocks, the large clockwork doors...I love it.\
And I think that those diamond blocks look great.

One day there will be words here. And it will be full of important stuff. Today is not that day.
Wokka wokka wokka.
Quick question, did you actually make all of these, or just edited premade images?
Thanks, Lilyo. No all the images are made painstakingly from scratch (of course with inspiration from steampunk images and other industrial antiquey things!). I'm also a keen photographer so take pics all the time of textures, gadgets, nature, etc. I'm a landscape painter and photographer by profession, with a leaning towards fantasy for myself, so pixel art is a real struggle for me and I'm in awe of the likes of John Smith and Doku!

As for the actual textures, they're pretty awesome, but from the images you posted it looks as though some of them are somewhat blury (I suggest you save your images as png's or full quality jpgs from now on :/).
Sorry about the jpgs. I upload approx. 400kb jpgs to 'scrnshots.com' and they enlarge there great, with no loss in detail. Not sure what is happening when i transfer the url to my posts though? I'll look into it, but not a big prority at the mo' trying to finish things off.

The stone, I don't really like all that much and I think the cloth would look better without the borders.
As regards the stone, and as previously mentioned in my op, I'm going for textures that tesselate well over distance and fit in with a late stage developed Minecraft world, as opposed to the early adventure type textures found in John Smith's and Doku's themes. Also I'm trying to make each block work for it's living by being functional as a landscape element, and as an extra building material. The stone for me had to be sufficiently contrasting with the Victorian style flint cobble to work as a kind of sandstone for foundations and capping stones, etc. It's certainly not as ideal in the landscape as JS's and D's though, but doesn't look too dreadful when adventuring. What I don't like to see when doing epic builds (which is what I like to do, when i get the time!) is excessive hard patterning when viewing things from a distance. There are some exquisite textures out there that are stunning close up, but over distance 'moire' horribly, imho. This doesn't mean to say after I release this that I'm not gonna continue to struggle to perfect the look of each of the textures - particularly the stone, cobble and dirt (so jealous of John Smith's dirt, my son uses it all the time, but it just wouldn't look right as an extra 'red' sandstone building material in my theme worlds, which is what I'm after).

BTW how did you change the torch color? I want to change/eliminate the flaming part of the torch to make a modern light.

look in the particles file i believe
Exactly so.
My torches were a fluke experiment, but well worth experimenting with in the future. Just beware that the same flame that pops out the top of the torch also 'pops' out the furnace and the lava, so be inventive and prepared to make some compromises in colour strength, if you're trying some outlandish colour. :smile.gif:

Definately what I had in mind, but I've got to be careful not to make it too 'fussy'. Gonna be working on the chest and the rail track next I think! :smile.gif:

It's funny, but as soon as I fixed the diamond block to my skyship, it put me in mind of Warhammer 40,000 (which I used to be a huge fan of...I have hundreds of figures and models!). There are similarities between the too themes though, perhaps this should be a Steampunk/Warhammer 40,000 texture pack. Ha ha! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks, folks for the continued interest and ideas. More later.....
On the topic of torches and the particles associated with them, the smoke particles are also used by redstone and are tinted by the game. (So you can't re-color the redstone or torch smoke, you can only make it darker.)
I found it rather liberating to just remove the smoke and fire particles entirely for my mooncraft texture as that meant I didn't have to worry that my texture might clash with the animated particles. My torches in that are green glow sticks and the furnace has an odd purple glowing reaction chamber placed in the middle of the block rather than on the bottom where the particles for the fire would normally be.

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
Steampunk Railway Launched!
It looked ok on paper, but not sure if it's a little too busy in Minecraft. Possibly should have cut back by one sleeper I think. Oh well, it'll do for now, then I can move on and get this lot out to you, sooner than later.
I'd had a few cool suggestions for the railtrack so far, including a monorail from LimitForce which I think I'd like to do sometime, but I'd already gone with the idea that appealed to me most (by Triskelli) and resulted in the track depicted above:
Before I forget again! Many thanks for the updated art file Tiger4Ruler, that should prove very useful for anyone interested in this theme. I'm still thinking of working on one that has a lot of symbols, blueprints and now also a few wall gadgets too, eg. oldstyle CRT screens, and what-not...I'll experiment first though! I didn't know it was possible to walk through paintings...just found that out (I know, everyone but me knew that!).

Here is a 1024x1024pixel of the art file belongs in the art folder inside minecraft.jar
All artworks belongs to the artists, if you see your work and want it removed I will do so ASAP as I respect ownership of art etc. ^^ Feel free to include your own pictures of steampunk! at this resolution its clearer and easier to put art in that is not necessary pixelart.
file must be renamed 'kz.png' before transferring it into the minecraft.jar art folder.
Many thanks for the info on the torches The_Fool76, that's going to come in handy. I love what you've done with your Mooncraft texture. It's amazing what can be done with Minecraft with just a little imagination and tinkering. Of course it could all change on Halloween! :biggrin.gif:
:Big Thumbs Up:

Steampunk Pack - Steampunk textures.
Frenden's Texture Pack - Nice simple 16x16 texture pack.
Alchemy - *drool* Yesss...
*hopes for early release*
Also, if you're -constantly- working on the building block textures, perhaps you can post pics here (more of them) to get feedback? Like, every model.
And I think that those diamond blocks look great.
Wokka wokka wokka.
Neodymius on The Gentleman's Society of Wanton Massacre
Can't wait for yor mod to release.

I'm loving this texture pack more and more every second I think about it! <3
Prometheus was punished by the gods for giving the gift of Knowledge to man. He was cast into the bowels of the earth and pecked by birds. - Portal 2
I've said it before and I'll say it again: This texture pack is looking better and better!
When will it be available??
