Wow, Ive been cut of from the net for a while thanks to work and I gotta say I am thoroughly impressed by all you've done with this pack Glimmar. It's simply amazing, can wait to play around with some of the new stuff now and expand my steam empire. And on a side now, some of my creations seem far less impressive up against some of the new posts ... I shall have to build more.
Also Tlegar, that joke made me laugh so much. I tip my hat to you good sir.
Hi, mate. Nice to have you back with us again and glad you like the new stuff. Yes, there are some amazing Imagineers here abouts, but I'm sure you'll surprise us all with your building at some time. I'll try and keep up with new toys, as and when i get the chance!
Thanks for the quick responses. For the main grass I suppose I'll just have to get a bit creative with the texture to offset the brown. Shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm more pleased to hear that its not a problem than anything.
As for the water Glimmar, I followed those instructions to the letter to no avail. And the weird thing is is that the water texture in the minecraft.jar IS yours when I look, but it is clearly not that one being used in the game. And that is with either your texture pack selected after patch, or default selected. Doesn't matter which, still shows blue.
Seems that you either get your water or the original depending on whether you check the custom/animated options now (beta).
If you check custom, your water doesn't animate (doesn't have the flowing and still files). If you don't, you get the original.
I worked with my custom files and made (or attempted for an hour or so :biggrin.gif:) to make a murky'ish green'sh version for ya whilst you create the awesomeness.

axlsjolund...just to be clear, are you selecting to patch 'my' texture pack in xau's M C Patcher menu...not the minecraft jar. The critical thing is to make sure xau's M C Patcher programme is pointing at my texture pack, before you patch. Also do this from a fresh install of Minecraft and with xau's latest patcher. I'm still using Minecraft 1.2.6 for mod reasons, but according to others, my texture pack works ok with Beta.
It may be worth checking a vid on how to patch just in case your missing a vital step. It took me a while to understand how xau's patcher worked when I first used it, and pointing the patcher to the texture zip file wasn't obvious to me, so I don't wish to imply you don't know how to patch.
Also the seperate tiny 'water.png' file isn't what colours the surface of the water, it tones the underwater blue down and makes it a little murkier when underwater. The 'surface' green colour comes from the terrain.png file in my texture zip folder...and there's no need to move that to the jar file.
I really hope you can solve this one, mate. :smile.gif:
On my post...I guess what I was seeing is that your still water doesn't move. But it does flow....
So I guess trying to test/help when you are tired from cutting wood is not a good thing
:biggrin.gif:
Ha ha! I'm in a 'perpetual' state of tiredness now, so I expect all my posts look horribly garbled, that's why I like posting pics...just in case...sorry! I take it that's cutting 'real' wood that's made you tired! :smile.gif:
TROMPE-L'OEIL TIME!
Some more tricksy paintings for the art file. I still use the mods 'More Paintings (extreme edition) and 'Punch-a-Pic' (punch a pic allows you to cycle through the paintings to speed up selection), and I think these haven't been made beta compatible yet. I'll duplicate some of these paintings as best I can in the 'standard' art.png file, when I've got them finished. Each one of these is taking a fair amount of time so that they work convincingly as 3d objects from a distance and that takes a fair amount of to-ing and fro-ing between Minecraft and my editor.
Illuminated Clock Face - daytime:
This one is big enough (5x5 squares) to put on the tallest towers and still see the time (even if it is stationary!). The interesting thing though...something I bet you lot already knew...is that if you stick a few Nether Lanterns (Glow Stones) behind the painting, the clock face is nicely illuminated at night and can be seen from a fair distance away. Something for me to bear in mind for some of the other paintings.
Illuminated Clock Face - nighttime:
Take my word for it, it really does glow! :smile.gif:
Clock Face, Statues and Gas Pipes:
Tomfoolery with gas pipes that allow connection in most directions on a vertical surface and still connect to the real 'redstone dust' pipes on the floor. Also interlocking with the green gas lamps. The statues I have a need for in my 'grand harbour' entrance channel by way of a series of triumphal arches that you have to sail past to enter my largest harbour - as yet unseen, or realized - oh for the lazy, hazy days of simple building!
Captain Nemo's Organ:
This is pure self-indulgence and might not be of use to anyone but me. If anyone can remember seeing the 1954 film with James Mason playing the lead in the film "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". Then you may recognise this as being the pipe organ that was in Nemo's Nautilus submarine.
If I ever get the time to make my version of the Nautilus, or anything vaguely sub-like, then I want to stick this king of instruments in it. It was funny but while I was setting up this pic in Minecraft, Notch's in-game music started randomly playing a haunting tune and it was quite creepy looking at this, a bit of a Bio-Shock moment!
Sorry it's taking so long to do these, but as explained above, I'm painstakingly working through to try to make them fit the theme and be architecturally useful...not just as decorative paintings.
I'm probably also going to wait now and see what Notch comes up with this week with his promised new toys before I release anything. I'm getting tired of putting out an update, which is finicky and time consuming to do, only to watch it become obselete. I'm certainly not blaming Notch...I'm as excited as anyone else to see the world's greatest sandbox game move along.
That looks amazing, bar-none. Can't wait for the update, but I can understand why you're holding it off.
Thanks, mate. I've also not forgotten my promise to try and include a triskelion symbol somewhere, even if it means making a personalised art file, or something! :smile.gif:
It will certainly be interesting to see what sea creature we're going to get in the next up-date. Any ideas?
I think the wiki said either actual fish (to catch), whales, or sea monsters. I'm personally hoping for the third.
Being the swarthy sea dog that I am, I'd like the little teeny fishes most of all...Aaargh! [read in your best pirate voice or the voice of 'Mr Crab'...I said Mr Crab not Sponge Bob!!].
I just can't see myself taking on a sea monster or whale in my little steamer boat! Lol! Not unless we can ram them at high speed, or stand on the prow with a dirty great harpoon.
Ha ha! I'm sure whatever we get will be good and will just mean extra work for us poor penniless artists!
@ Triskelli: Not unlike Mr Squidward then!
...You can tell what I've been watching tonight. Actually that would fit in with the Nautilus scheme of things wouldn't it? Heehee, I might even come out of 'peaceful' to take a look at one of those.
[edit] I've only just seen the pics, Triskelli. I agree with Tlos, those would be the cutest creatures in Minecraft by far. I wouldn't mind being mobbed by something like that. We should be able to wear them as hats too!
I can't wait to see what the new sea mob is, I can't wait even more to see it in the beautifully tinted water of Glimmer's ever beautiful pack!
Also, in the game Fable 3 there is an ad for a hat called the Steamhat. First thing I though of was Glimmer and this thread... Here's a pic! It's not the exact ad in the game loading screen but extremely similar....well the hat atleast. :biggrin.gif:

The main reason I'm hoping for it is that there is a (very) small chance that notch may add a harpoon cannon to the game, and thus giving another purpose to my harpoon cannon (espically now that there are two other types of replacements [not counting that crappy gun, that thing can rot], the normal and flintlock crossbow).
Glimmar I'm glad to see you liked the jokes enough to mention them in the OP. You can actually link to a post from within your thread or to any other post. You may know how to do this already. If you do just disregard this. If not, you may find it quite useful seeing as you have so many cool things in your wonderful thread to link to directly. Here is how to create a direct link to a post.
First go to the page the post is on and copy the url. In this case it is h-ttp://w-w-w.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1021&t=48884&start=1740. Now go to the relevant post and click on the "Quote" button. Look at the url. On my joke post it is, h-ttp://w-w-w.minecraftforum.net/posting.php?mode=edit&f=1021&p=1831160.
The part we are interested in is the p=1831160. Which is the post number. Add a # to the end of the page url the post is on and remove the = from p=1831160 and you get this:
h-ttp://w-w-w.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1021&t=48884&start=1740#p1831160
I had to separate the url with - to keep it from making a url for the explanation. Ignore that. I hope i didn't put you to sleep with my rambling. Hope this helps!
P.S. Everything you're making for your texture pack looks great! The new paintings are awesome as is the boat and mine cart. You have done a truly fabulous job with this texture pack. I love the screen shots of your world too. This is also my favorite thread. Even if i do seem to hit and run. ::flee:: =)
That's a pretty cool water (trap?), I see that you are ready for the next update, I'm only marginally worried, as my main base in one of my accounts is underwater.
Also, I'm honored that you are using one of my items, it made me feel a special kind of good to see people enjoying my work. Also, your texture pack looks really great and I think that I'll give it a look when I can.
