Hey i want to try to re-create your neuschwanstein castle. Could you maybe post some pics or send them to me plz i need some more examples. It looks awesome im trying it in beta it is going to be a challenge (no cheats and mobs on) so could you maybe do that for me thanks in advance
Well I can take a snapshot of all 4 sides if you like? Or you can do like I did and search google for pics of the actual castle. I also got simple architectual drawings from the web somewhere as well. The large backend of the real castle actually is at an angle to the courtyard area, but in MC angles outside of 45deg are hard to reproduce, so I dumped that and just went straight front to back.
If you would like to walk around the castle, I can add you to my server's whitelist and you can visit it yourself?
As for the inside, well, I just did what felt right for me. Though I've been there as a young boy and there are pics of the inside online...the detail is too intricate to reproduce in MC.
I've actually exported the entire castle into a schematic...so I don't have to spend the weeks building it again! In fact, I export all my builds into schematic files for safe keeping...<evil laugh>

MINECRAFT STEAMPUNK VID
If anyone felt inclined to make a movie of their Steampunk world builds, using this theme pack and tracks from Vernian Process, that would be very much appreciated. :smile.gif:
Any good submissions will get a good spot at the top and I'll notify Vernian Process too, so they can see how cool your imagination is too!
Here are a couple of attempts at recording my Minecraft world.
I apologize ahead of time for inadvertently advertising for FRAPS,
but its the only program that worked in pinch.
As you can see Ive made much progress since my last post. I now have many
glass tunnels enclosing my minecart track system. It still has lots more to go though.
NEW PADDLE STEAMER BOAT
You wouldn't think it to look at, but I've burned myself out on this one! :sad.gif:
Had some spare time and spent all day and evening on it, to try and get all the parts inside to work with all the parts outside. I hate the 3D objects in the game. It's not the painting, it's trying to figure out how it all fits together and then laboriously jumping into and out of Minecraft 2 or 3 hundred times to check each little bit of editing.
I loosely based it on this delightful little steamer:
And here's my attempt...so far, and a b***** to try and get a good pic of it when your tired!
My little steamer is wood on the inside with iron on the outside and traditional Victorian colours for a pleasure steamer...red, white and black. The boiler in the middle has an axle that connects to the two paddle wheels. The boatsman has a seat to sit on at the back and you kind of straddle the boiler and keep your sensitive bits nice and warm. I was going to put little foot peddles at the front, but I'd just had enough! Sorry.
Anyway, I'm off to bed now, I'm all textured out!!!
ps. Just looking at the last pic with my gas lamps...if it was possible to stick one of the torches on the boiler it wouldn't look that much out of place as a little chimney! Lol!
First off, I wanna say that this texture pack is phenomenal and am glad to see the direction it is continuing in. I especially like the new Iron block that you previewed. Lotta ideas for that one.
I am however having a problem with the pack. I have tried pretty much EVERY suggestion to get it to work properly, with no such luck. From the HD patcher, to Minecrafter, to manually patching. Multiple attempts and variations on each.
1. My first problem seems to be the grass texture. It looks like dirt. Absolutely no green, and I cannot figure out what is causing it, or how to fix it. Here is a screenshot of said grass.
As you can see, it is WAY too brown. I can't find a solution. AN]nd all the grass I see is just like it.
2. My second issue is the water. Without patching, I can get the green water. But as soon as I use HD patcher, or Minecrafter, I get the blue animated water. No green at all. I checked all the files myself and the green WAS where it should be, just not working. As with the last issue, I tried multiple times, and every variation I could think of to get it to work. Screenshot Below.
I'm not sure what is causing my issues, but it is frustration to say the least. I want to use the pack, but I need it to work completely first.
I am hoping between all the fans, experts, and the creator himself, I can get this problem solved relatively quickly. Thank you for your time everyone, and thank you Glimmar for all the hard work on this pack. As a designer, I can see the time and effort that went into every detail, and I am impressed.

The grass is not broken. The issue is theres 'biomes' in minecraft...think of it as different climate zones. This pack includes a texture that causes much sharper changes in grass color than you are used to. Revert to the default and you will notice some areas are not as green as others, almost looking brownish. Glimmars pack just 'boosts' that effect with a much larger range of colors:
notice the wild color changes in the grass near the right side of the image? you just happened to plant your house on a big patch of the brown stuff. look in minecraft.jar for misc/grasscolor.png...this controls the shades of the grass. compare the default pack grasscolor image to the one glimmar made, youll see a huge difference. same with foliagecolor.png, that controls the colors of the leaves on trees.

From what I can see, MuadDib correctly describes what's going on here. It looks like you may have just happened on a swamp or tundra area and decided to build there. If it's not that, I'm stumped as to what could be causing all the grass everywhere to be brown. With EJHopkins 'Wild Grass' mod it's more obvious what biome you are in. Like you, I'm still using Minecraft 1.2.6 until i see sufficient reason to upgrade. By the way, custom biome triangles don't have any influence on your Minecraft world, unless they are manually placed in the 'misc' folder in the minecraft.jar file.
Anyway here is how Minecraft works out the biomes.
This is the key:
and this is my grasscolor.png biome triangle:
Hope that helps. :smile.gif:

I think this problem could be similar to the one PipeHead had last page, or one before. He couldn't get the water to stay green either. If you look closely at my installation instructions on the first page, the second part of the 3rd instruction is the important thing here:
3. To fix any Texture Glitches, exit Minecraft and use the "MC Patcher" programme by xau (see above links). Don't forget to select 32x32 texture size. It is also important to point the 'MC Patcher' to my texture pack location in the Minecraft texture pack folder. You do this by ticking the 'Texture Pack' box and browsing to the Minecraft texture pack folder.
If the patcher isn't pointing to my pack when you patch, it won't work on including my green water texture. That's the best way I can explain it.
Hope this solves your problems, mate, and thanks for the compliments, glad you like the textures.

Don't worry about the 'Frapps' thing, Lol! I like your last little vid the best, Pjpuas. When I get chance I'll bump that one to the top with a link to your other vids here. You've certainly been busy with the glass! Is that for aesthetics or to protect you from mobs? Nice work, either way. :smile.gif:
@ MuadDib: That's another cool view of your 'cpu' build. Looks like some lost amazonian temple complex. Very nice indeed!
All this talk of vids has me all giddy with excitement...because I think I'm going to try and make a vid or two of some of my creations/reproductions!
I've got to get the stuff setup. I found an awesome HowTo for n00bs which uses Fraps. If my test vids turn out good, Fraps is only $37 so I might buy it and post a clean vid here.
So stay tuned all you steampunkanarians or is that steampunkerists or steampunkologists?

Ha ha! If there's anyone who has a ready made 'movie set' for epicness then it's got to be you, Pipehead. I've used Fraps and it was really easy and reliable to use. Mine was only the demo, but after using it, I definately wanted to buy it, but my Paypal account's a pain to use. Anyway it was a doddle to string 30sec clips together in Windows Movie Maker and sound effects + seperate track for music.
Glimmar, you once told me to post more jokes if i found them. What were you thinking! Now i must post these two i found. =D
A steampunk was walking down the sidewalk one day when his friend, a dieselpunk, came up on an incredible shiny new diesel hovercraft bike.
The steampunk was stunned by his friend's sweet ride and asked, "WOW! Where did you get such a nice hovercraft?"
The dieselpunk replied, "Well, yesterday I was walking home, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman came up to me on this hovercraft." She got off the hovercraft, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want!"
The steampunk nodded approvingly, "Good choice. The clothes probably wouldn't have fit."
A seaman meets a steampunk pirate in a bar, and talk turns to their adventures in the world, more specifically, to the steampunk's adventures on the airship. The seaman notes that the steampunk has a peg-leg, a hook, and an eye patch.
The seaman asks, "So, how did you end up with the peg-leg?" The steampunk replies, "We were in a storm at the sky, and I was swept overboard, but managed to grab myself. Just as my men were pulling me out, the wind caught on and my leg accidentally went to one of the turbine blades, cutting it in the most painful manner."
"Wow!" said the seaman. "What about your hook"? "Well", replied the steampunk, "We were boarding an enemy airship and were battling the other pirates with rayguns. One of the enemy's rayguns ray hit my hand and crossed it from one side to the other. It had to be amputated."
"Incredible!" remarked the seaman. "How did you get the eye patch"? "A seagull dropping fell into my eye," replied the steampunk.
"You lost your eye to a seagull dropping?," the sailor asked incredulously. "Well," said the steampunk, "it was my first day with my hook."
another idea i've had now that its open season on beta modding....
pipes. one thing that kinda irks me with redstone dust is that it must be laid down as a 'trail' on blocks. cool at first, but kinda restrictive on how it behaves based on how its arranged (cant have parallel paths on neighbors without it trying to connect to them, cant run vertically more than one block, etc)
looking at the fence, and how it links to a neighbor with connecting pieces...Id like to be able to lay down pipes, and have them run freely in space, in all cardinal directions...not having to rely on blocks underneath for support, etc. and be able to apply redstone currents to them as well. that should make things a bit more interesting =)
@ Triskelli and Telgar: Look at that! I go away from the computer for an hour and when i get back I have two jokes and a 'wow'! Can't be bad! Hope you like the boat, Triskelli. I may do a peddle boat version of this (without the boiler)and perhaps in different colours, as the minecart could be. If someone could mod my torch onto the top of the boiler, it world fit perfectly!
Telgar! Don't you go running off after leaving rude jokes in my thread!! I'll put a link to them under your joke on the first page. Lol!

Well, I've just made 'painting' versions of the redstone pipes to enable cosmetic placement in all vertical directions, but I agree, it would be great to freely use the working redstone dust. It would also free up some space on my art.png file for other 'one block' textures. You wouldn't like to consider making paintings stick to the floor and the ceiling, would you? Even more freedom then!!
Wow, Ive been cut of from the net for a while thanks to work and I gotta say I am thoroughly impressed by all you've done with this pack Glimmar. It's simply amazing, can wait to play around with some of the new stuff now and expand my steam empire. And on a side now, some of my creations seem far less impressive up against some of the new posts ... I shall have to build more.
Also Tlegar, that joke made me laugh so much. I tip my hat to you good sir.

Oh, wow. That looks really really nice, and I'm highly anticipating all future updates.
I'll try to get a few items out soon.
Fixed up my shovels, they don't suck as bad now.
blood, i modded my client with those images and they look FANTASTIC. man that next update is gonna floor a lot of people.
on another note, MCP just came out with a new test release for mc beta. i just modded the sponge class to work in single player:
this took me all of 5 minutes to alter the sponge class and get it running (with all the other mods i run in my client)
so i guess ill be taking a swing at the boats and see what I can pull out of my hat of tricks =)
