I apologize if my instructions to PipeHead were a bit off. I am pretty sure that is the way i installed the HD texture fix in beta and i have animated water and lava too. However, i could be mistaken. It certainly wouldn't be the first time i was. =)
@Glimmar,
I'm glad you liked the video. So sorry for letting the proverbial cat out of the bag. Your secret is safe with us.......for now! ;D
Have the final in my ax series (save for fixing up anything you guys want me to fix, as well as alternatives that I might add), the diamond ax!
In a final fit of rage after many repeated failures at creating a device to easily and safely cut wood without much physical effort on the part of the wielder, you decide just to stick a sharpened diamond wheel to your trusty ax. The resulting combination sparks you into adding more and more mechanization to it, until it finally resulted in this, the (pen)ultimate cutting machine.
Item sheet.
This also marks my longest description for an item.

Well, in the past I never selected the Glimmar TP in Xau's HD Patchers, I simply picked the 32x32 option. Not sure why I do that, but after selecting the TP and apply Xau's the water is brilliant.

Ha ha! Glad you got it fixed mate! :smile.gif:
It occured to me after my long post above what you might be doing wrong and so I copied my 3rd instruction from the installation guide into it. Everybody was right in this case, but it just goes to show how many little things we have to look out for to get that sweet installation.
I'm glad you thought the effort was worth it...some don't like it, but I never really like the cartoon blue of the original! I'm too used to the polluted, sediment soaked water surrounding the British isles. Though i think it's more true to the theme. :biggrin.gif:
I also don't like the blocky clouds. Not so much because they're blocky, but that they scare the delights out of me when I'm up high in a tower and suddenly something grey slides unexpectedly through the walls at me. I have a little .png file that cancels the clouds out if anyone's interested. I'd rather use the fog settings for Steampunk atmosphere than clouds.
I think I must suffer from vertigo or something, because if I have the clouds visible and I'm up at the height where I see them coming towards me, I have this tendancy to want to jump off my perch onto the moving cloud, which isn't the best of ideas!
I noticed a strange thing yesterday while testing my pack. I tried out your sun/moon instead of the ones I got from who knows where....and the world got noticeably darker. Not dark, but darker a tad. Can just the sun/moon files do that?

Ray guns, accoutrements for the well equipped steampunkian gentleman? =)
I want to order one of those guns, but the website doesn't come up when I google it. I reckon it's a scam, Telgar! [ lol! ]
Animal lover that I am, I still had to laugh at the horse being vaporised and it's legs falling over! Sorry!
@ Everyone: thanks for the feedback on the railcart. Green is a classic colour, and I'll stick this in the next update, but I'm still going to see what a black one looks like, 'cos I think the furnace and chest might blend better with it. I'd like to do a blue variant also, just to honour Thomas the Tank Engine. :smile.gif: I might also increase the size of the side panel decoration to allow for some lettering to be included. Anyone interested in some personalisation to their railway network? I'm obviously a glutton for punishment!! :biggrin.gif: Limited to about four letters only though (not tried this yet so don't be disappointed anyone if it doesn't work).
@Tlos: You've been working very hard indeed! Excellent tools. Will bump it to the top.

LOL, when I jump from the highest height, my stomach still does a small flip. And the clouds simply **** me off. If you can either move them to block height of 129 and remove them I'd be very interested.
Hey Glimmar, any idea when the next update will be? the new textures ith the iron block and the minecart are lookin good, and Pipe why wont the server let me on lol

That's an interesting one! A lot of people have commented on how dark my pack is with the green gas lamps, and I suppose it is, though when i set out to change the standard torch I never expected it to have the effect it had..that was a pleasant side effect I'm still rather pleased with.
I'd always thought the light from things like the torches and the sun and moon where just fixed levels of light, but obviously I don't think this is the case now. Has anyone experimented on no sun and moon? Does that have any increased effect on light levels?
I have no programming skills what-so-ever, so I wouldn't even know where to begin in the code to check how light works.
Those clouds were annoying, far too many deaths were caused by me falling after seeing one of those accursed things. It really is fortunate that the file is so easy to edit. I didn't entirely get rid of mine, but I made it so there are very few indeed.
Aaah, so many posts were made in the time I made this, it's crazy.

Roundaround has a mod called Highclouds which places the clouds 7 blocks above the maximum build height.

Ha ha! I'm sorry about that! I'd said it wouldn't take long if people were happy to wait for painting substitutes for the cogs, etc. on the current iron block texture, but got carried away with other textures and the minecart. The paintings are going to take a little longer than expected, if they're going to be effective, but I'd like to see if I can make a little paddlesteamer replacement for the boat before I upload the next update.
As quick as I can, mate, is the answer. Honest! :smile.gif:
I actually did test this for Soulscribe's Tron. But what I did was black them out as well as mess with the shadow, vignette, and clouds files all at once. Trying for a no light world. It just made everything look bizarre but still light.
A lot of it has to do with the other block textures as well. The world is still as light as any other pack, but if you have darker all around textures, as well as the green torches, it will look darker over all for the person using the pack. Mine is the same way because I like darker smooth stone, cobble, and such

A few quick questions before I start brainstorming ideas for my next set.
1. For the shovels, would you guys prefer the blade pointing at your head (like the defaults), or pointing forward (like the bow)?
2. For the hoes/sickles/cultivation implements, would you collectively prefer it as a simple farming hoe, or a more menacing, but more powerful (and easier to work with) scythe (actually more of a sickle with the sprite size limitations)?
3. If you have any suggestions, recommendations, alternatives, improvements, or fixes to my items (past or future), don't hesitate to ask/tell. (not much of a question really)

Forward pointing shovel please (I grew attatched to the Mixcraft style of shovel after using it for about a month)
The scythe sounds nice (So long as it has totally unnessary clock parts juxaposed all over)
Err, I feel kind of bad asking this but.. Could you set up the item.png sheet in the way you envision it (I'd do it myself but well, I have no idea how to even work a paintbrush, let alone the photoshopping things... But I stress that if you have no interest in doing the sheet then no problem. It's just a side request.

Why stop at the melee? Just admit (Halo) Reach itself was a mistake. It is, really. The Hindenburg was less broken than this.

1. For the shovels, would you guys prefer the blade pointing at your head (like the defaults), or pointing forward (like the bow)? Forward or even more down if possible
2. For the hoes/sickles/cultivation implements, would you collectively prefer it as a simple farming hoe, or a more menacing, but more powerful (and easier to work with) scythe (actually more of a sickle with the sprite size limitations)? don't farm much :tongue.gif:

The only thing I would add as I've tried out most of your items (cause they rule) is making them a bit darker somehow. On Glimmar's pack, they seem lighter than most of the materials they would be made from.

In the meantime does anyone have a DL link to any of those inspirational maps by chance?
