2. How do you use Craftbook in not only SSP, but beta?
Thanks xDoomSquirrelx. I do not believe CraftBook is something made for SSP. But starting your own server is easy. Download hMod's server wrapper and then peruse hMod's Plugins section for all the wonderful things you can do.
I run my server on my home PC, Intel 3.0Ghz Quad-core Q9650, 8GB Ram, ATI Radeon 5870 1GB. I also run MySQL, Apache and Filezille. I can play MineCraft on the same box, plus have 2 or 3 other folks on the server and little to no lag.
@ Pipehead, Bonehead, MaudDib, Gestankfaust, Tlos, Garmandude, Pjpuas, TheInventor and all the other marvellous Minecraft architect/artists in the pages above: your work is amazing to look at and I kind of feel privileged that you used my textures to forge such awe-inspiring creations.
If H G Wells and Jules Verne were alive today, I'd like to think they'd be pretty inspired looking at your work too.
Well thanks Glimmar, I don't know what it is about this texture pack, but it revs up my creative engine. I'm sure it will eventually simmer down, but for now please enjoy it as I am.
So as I stated in my last picture post, BoneHead and I were to have ourselves a build off. So here's my entry. First up is the model I used. I'm not sure if BoneHead has even started his yet...he seems to have a life with a g/f and stuff. All I have is a wife, 5 kids, a job and Minecraft...LOL. I've also been on vacation from my 9 to 5 since 17-Dec.
Here's my opening trademark shot. The ship wasn't in a position that lent itself to the moon shot so this was the best I could do. I've named this the PAS Glimmar (PA-01). PAS is PipeWorld Air Ship and PB-01 is PipeWorld Battleship 01.
Now a full on side shot in the day time. I really wanted to use leaves for the letters but they kept disappearing...argh! So as you can see there are 8 small prop engines with 8 more on the other side. Combined they propel this battle ship to extreme speeds while providing unparalleled manuverability in a vessel so large.
Originally, I had designed the docking station with a luxury cruiser in mind, but when BoneHead and I chose battleships, I kept the docking station and simply added an articulating arm. I think it came out cool as hell and is distinctly steampunkish.
Here's the top superstructure which contains the bridge, helm, crows nest, officer's quarters and access to the upper turrets.
This is the lower superstructure which contains the crew quarters, galley, officer's mess and lower observatory.
I was unable to get both the lower turrets and the lower superstructure in the same shot so here are the lower turrets.
Since the docking station came out so well and is an integral part of my FallCrest Keep, here's a shot of the front.
And finally, a view of the ship from inside the docking station.
Nice work on that Pipe, i think im going to have to start mine soon lol, im also going to build a giant minecart track bridge and see how it goes, i havent really got in to building minecart tracks and stuff so i wanna give that a try too, but i will get started on my ship soon :smile.gif:
Perhaps not as steampunk'ish as some of the wicked designs you guys have put up, I too like to see large floating structures and such in the sky. I'm really looking forward to the new textures, they will definitely make this look fantastic:
the idea here is to make a few of these 'forest rings' over the landscape. The cpu just happened to be something I started 'doodling' after i terraformed that whole area, and im thinking of rebuilding it with netherstone or the new iron blocks once that gets released.
keep up the awesomeness with this texture pack, its definitely made this project a lot more fun to work on.

I wait in baited anticipation...by the way our little private server has MinecartMania installed on it...and I would love to develop a minecart system!
I think I need to rename this to "Awesome Architects Pack"! Everytime I look in now I see something more amazing. :smile.gif: What's even better is the way everyone is building stuff in keeping with the theme and that you seem to get more and more out of the textures.
Just to say that, amongst other things, I've updated all those blocks with wood in them to better match the darker wood block...wooden door, chest, craftbench.
The brick block has had an extra course of bricks included to be more accurate dimension wise (really there should be 6 or 7 courses of bricks...though there is a pixel limitation vying with accuracy here).
I've improved the gravel texture...some serious patterning going on that I hadn't realised until I did some extended path work in my own world...should be fixed now.
Slightly re-worked the gold block for more structural use, also darker but still with that ornate feel for those wanting a decorative block. Still thinking about the diamond and the half-block ? I had tried to convert the half-block into a kind of darker grey slate texture, but it looked aweful and would have left us without a halfway lighter shade of colour that fits somewhere between the stone and cloth blocks. I'm still wondering if a 'flint' stone or half block (as seen in 'Elizabethan' type buildings) type texture would work.
Re-worked the 'Wild Grass' textures, as I wasn't happy with the tallest grass stage when seen en-masse in the landscape...this was only noticeable when all the grass had finished growing. Would be better If E J Hopkins could randomise the placement of the grass textures or allow for grass 'death' or 'trampling' - ie. if the grass could drop a level everytime you or a mob walked over it. Not being a modder I'm not sure how difficult that request would be!
The glass block has been modified to better match the new iron block...more bolt-like at the corners and centre.
Generally slightly darkened the brass and rivet textures throughout the pack.
I can't remember who it was who suggested I should take the green of the coal ore block to it's logical conclusion and convert it to green crystals, but I'm kind of warming to that idea. I'm thinking it would more useful to change all of the ore blocks to more useful building textures. Still true to their natural material and look in the landscape, but rather than lumps of ore within stone texture, perhaps making the ore texture tile better for building purposes for those who like to work more creatively with INVedit and the like.
Still working on the extended paintings textures - after playing around with the large valve wheel texture as an actual wheel on the side of a netherblock textured vehicle, I thought it would be useful to make one of the larger square paintings an even larger 'flywheel' for use with the boiler textures, but also as another vehicular style of wheel for primitive wheeled tanks, etc. As Tiger as already asked, any ideas are welcome, but try and bear in mind that there are only a limited number of paintings, and your ideas should be as universally applicable as possible. Nothing 'too' specific. As fond as I am of my original 'cog' texture I think it could stand some serious editing, so that when placed next to itself it would mesh better, for some seriously epic sized machines.
All those wanting gui's and items, etc. I do still intend to work on these, but if I see anything I don't like in the terrain textures, they will always command what limited time I have, sorry. :sad.gif:
As I have no experience whatsoever with animation, animated water and lava will probably be right at the bottom of the list, unless I have a serious inspirational 'moment' or someone can slip me a 'skill pill' or something. The nicest bit of water animation I've seen so far has come from John Smith's texture pack, and close up in small pools looks simply beautiful, but I have to be honest, even this masterpiece of animation began to annoy me when seen over large bodies of water, as any repetitive patterned movement became more obvious. If I did get round to animating these two textures, I am sure I would not be able to come any where near to matching what JS has done. I know my own limitations folks! :smile.gif: However, my stationary water and lava textures do need some serious attention though. Lol!
I'm not expecting anyone is going to read all the above (no pics! Aaargh!), but just thought I'd put my thoughts down in writing...it helps me to think out aloud on the forum. Now I fancy continuing some more work on the railcart texture...

I did the water texture and still water for mine. I don't use a flowing file at all and it works very well.
feel free to check them out and use them iffin you want.
(I added the water to your texture file and put the water still png in the zip. I add the custom water/lava to both versions of the .jar files as well as in the pack to be sure :biggrin.gif:)
(I also tried to match your more greenish color...didn't go well :tongue.gif:)

Happy New Year, folks
You bet I'll be reading what you have to write :smile.gif: Good thoughts on all topics. I agree that it's incredibly hard to make good looking animated water without a visible pattern, hence the amount of work that even high end 3D engines put into mixing patterns randomly to form semi-realistic water surfaces, but even in Crysis, you can see a pattern emerge, if you go away from the water, so don't feel bad if you can't fix that :smile.gif:
Go for it Glimmar and a happy new Year!
It's funny to we are talking about patterns in water. I was watching a show about rogue waves that smash into ships and sometimes sink them, even when there is no storm around. Scientists started looking at the ocean's waves with a satellite and discovered that the waves and even the rogue waves displayed a pattern...so having a pattern isn't necessarily out of sink with nature.
You know what I said about waiting to start, it turns out I might have lied.
A brand new handsaw, one that I'm going to seriously rework in the future. A nice, sturdy hatchet. A modified wooden cane, now with the head of an ax. (sorry about the colors... Pixen likes to mess with them, and it's really limiting. I'll fix it tomorrow, I need sleep.)
when it comes to 32x32 textures, this is my favorite, the details and look of it is the best!
it reminds me alot of the movie Brazil and I love that one haha, so thats a good thing!
From someone as accomplished as yourself, aageon, I really appreciate your comment. That is high praise indeed and you have my sincere thanks, for no-one textures better (and faster! Phew...how do you do it?!!) than yourself. Absolutely love your recent fantasy texture pack - exquisitely beautiful and I am very envious of your lava. Wonderful atmosphere!
Haha! I'd forgotten all about 'Brazil', that used to be one of my favourite films too. :smile.gif: We all have a lot more in common than we realize. Promoting Minecraft especially.
I fixed the colors on the wooden axe-cane. They had too much contrast before. A simple stone ax, nothing fancy. Tomahawk, just a tomahawk. I couldn't put a feather on there without it looking weird, sorry.
You probably know what this is;
Edit: I just started up minecraft... Why am I wearing a regal cloak? Why is it so cool?
Edit2: Ah, it's the new years eve cloak.
Edit3: I'm bored, have an iron axe.
The item sheet has been updated as well.
Edit4: The server sure has been going down a lot lately.
Not sure what bit/versions they are for, but are 64x64 and 32x32 I believe. Both worked in my 32x32 pack. For some reason, you have to replace the mob files in BOTH jar files (the one Xau's patcher makes and the original), then also in the texture pack you are using. All other ways kept showing parts of the original spider/eyes.
Wish I had an answer to why the orientation of spiders/templates are all different. Trying to figure that out made my brain hurt. I was trying to add exaust and things. Future update I guess...

Very nice, very very nice. I'll try to get a diamond axe replacement up by midnight Eastern Standard time GMT -5.
Operative word being try, I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to use.
Edit: I lie... I couldn't get it done in time.

use xua's hd fix linked in the first post of this thread. this works with most of the hd texture packs
That's a whole lot of awesome right there, you really have me excited to see how this turns out.
how did you do the fence posts?
and the half smooth/cobble stones under the posts?

trolling around for steampunk related stuff on google, I came upon this mod for Sims:
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=367804
there are 2 other sets linked in that page..they are quite impressive, think they might be useful for your texture pack?
