Sorry, I thought you wanted the download link. (If the facepalm was directed at me)
The wonderful thing about steampunk is the surrealness of the contraptions and devices and apparatuses. Tlos, you have captured that well...keep up the good work!
I've started a new project on an SMP server. It's going to be a quite dark, squalid town based on some short fiction that I accidentally wrote a couple of years ago.
A mate and I just finished building an offshore oilrig. Well, we finished the other night, and then a poorly-placed block of TNT necessitated some repairs, which I just finished this morning.
Here are a couple of screenies from before the TNT accident. Little has changed.
Here is a little taster...
...to show you some of the new textures I've been working on for my Steampunk theme pack and to reassure you good people that I'm still very much alive and enthusiastic:
New iron block:
This is for all you bridge and tower builders out there! A black cast iron block should enable you to build some quite spectacular Eiffel Tower like Steampunk constructions and generally be more useful than a 3d 'cog' block. I hope you like how it appears in the pics above. :smile.gif:
As I mentioned previously in this thread, I intended to rework the iron block into something a bit more useful, now that it seems we are limited to just the one texture. I didn't want to do this until I began work on paintings that could use the cog, hatch and wheel textures, so where you have used the iron block in your current builds, they can at least be repaired by their 2d replacements. Apart from not being able to place paintings on the floor or ceiling, I think it will give far more variety for creative building, especially when using the Xtreme Painting and PunchaPic mods (I'm still working with Minecraft v1.2.6 while I iron out these textures).
Here are a few examples of the new painting textures (the doors!):
Not complete yet by a long shot, but all the redstone pipes have been included for vertical placement as well as more general mesh/cast iron textures as seen in the pics above. I'm hoping to include the following:
A large clock for clock tower and station use. etc.
Boiler set into an alcove designed to link in with the pipe textures.
Control station including valves and cogs
Cathode ray tube monitor...Steampunk style of course.
Open hatchway.
A couple of posters...one new and one ripped and worn.
and more...surprises of course!
And to better match the cast iron block I'm working on a more traditional railway cart texture. As soon as I have anything for you to see I upload an image.
I won't be releasing this until the New Year and I'll scan all your excellent uploads and comments before I do.
Best Wishes for the New Year and thanks again to all, for your continued interest and amazing work...I can't believe what you people are doing with these textures!
I've seen quite a few texture packs and tried out many of them. But this one is by far my favorite, excellent work Glimmar. Looking forward to seeing the next installment.
And hell, here's a diamond
Here we are, it actually looks presentable now. I can't believe I made the other one while I was so tired.
Once again, Item sheet.
If anyone has any suggestions or fixes to my previous items, just tell me. I won't hesitate to fix any problems and release them as an option.
Edit: If nobody has any suggestions for a fix by the next two pages, I'm going to start on the axes, then the shovels, then the hoes/sickles. After those I feel that I'm going to attempt the other items, and who knows where I'll go from there.
++NOTE++
The images are clickable to the MUCH larger versions. They are pretty large, +500Kb and are best viewed in 1920x1200 resolution.
This first snapshot is fast becoming a trademark shot of Minecraft, that is the moon rising behind your work...and if it is not a trademark, I hereby trademark it for myself ;-). Anywho, the dimensions of this beauty is truly staggering, 202long 102x wide by 63tall. We left a 1 block gap at the bottom to give the illusion of floating. The blimps are 20 diameter with the sides offset downwards by 10 and separated from the middle by 10.
Here is a full side on shot with the hangar doors closed...what's that you ask...what hangar doors. Well you'll have to scroll down for those bad boys! This shot shows off the superstructure, the 4 port steering props, the wonderfully hand rendered name(LOL) and of course the sheer magnitude of this magnificent airship. During construction I actually used warp points to move from end to end and side to side cause it took too long to walk the distance.
Ah yes, with a quick flip of a couple of switches, the true power of this ship is displayed for all to see...the hangar doors whoosh open! In the aft hangar you can see a nice little ship I affectionately call the GMS Guppie. There is a closer up shot later on. Using the hMod plugin CraftBook, I was able to make the hangar doors open and close whenever...I love the hMod plugins!
A shot from the bridge, which was 100% designed and built by BoneHead who did an awesome job of it. You can't see, but he built 2 prototypes of this prior to final construction and has included a redstone powered alarm system in case of emergencies...well done BoneHead!
One of my favorite parts is the self contained fully enclosed bio-dome. What better way to survive the harsh travels then with your own garden and farm. This was one of the items from the inspiration picture that sold me on building this ship and again BoneHead was instrumental is it's construction.
This is the front of the GMS Guppie that I promised. BoneHead and I set out to build a couple of ships to fill the hangars, of which there are 4 in total. However, I was the only one to complete one...not sure what happened to BoneHead? ;-) Though I call it the Guppie, I should have named it the Dolphin since its shape more closely resembles a dolphin than a guggie, but it's diminutive size screamed for guppie.
I am hoping with this next shot you can get a perspective on the massive size we are talking about. Also, this shot hopefully showcases the wonderful internal structure making up the hangar system. 2 large hangars fore and aft on each side, each with separately operable doors. Plus the ends open up into large cargo holds. This ship is the super cargo vessel of the skies!
I hope you enjoyed another steampunk inspired airship. BoneHead and I had great fun building this together. Next, he and I are going to have a build off contest. He has his ship design picked out and I do to. Stay tuned for more!
@ Pipehead, Bonehead, MaudDib, Gestankfaust, Tlos, Garmandude, Pjpuas, TheInventor and all the other marvellous Minecraft architect/artists in the pages above: your work is amazing to look at and I kind of feel privileged that you used my textures to forge such awe-inspiring creations.
Fantastic work people, and I will go through all the new pics as soon as I can, to bump examples to the top. You folks are doing more to promote this theme than anything I could have done. You have my thanks for all your efforts and for letting us see your literal 'flights of fancy'. By way of thanks, I will continue to do my best to keep adding bits and bobs to the pack, as and when I get the chance.
If H G Wells and Jules Verne were alive today, I'd like to think they'd be pretty inspired looking at your work too.
I love your texture pack, But I wanna know what you plan for the future! Are you gonna do the items? Perhaps make running water effects? And HUD retexture? Whatever the future, I love your pack and I thank you dearly for making it.

Thanks to the constant bloody updates, the water is too clean and blue. I don't even know if the latest MCpatcher is out.
I'm going to try and touch up a few of my items later, maybe not today though. Some of them didn't turn out how I wanted them to.
here's a screeny with my cpu project..marvel at the complexity of those redstone pipes =)

How did you get it to work in beta?
