First of all, I must say that there is only one reason why I created an account here: to thank you Glimmar.
This texture pack makes my Minecraft time a zillion times better. Not that I minded the original Minecraft
look, I just happen to really enjoy when the the Steampunk genre is used correctly. And you my good Sir
have used it very well.
Secondly, I would also like to thank Vernian Process for the use of their amazing musical works.
Playing your music in the background really lets me get into the game.
And thirdly I would like to share some screenshots from my ongoing world.
My Center of operations built within a mountain side.
Many entrances/exits to my cave/tunnel complex within my mountain.
Main entrance under brick tower.
Double iron doors with fire moat.
Within the double iron doors I have my chest storage facility.
And my furnace wall.
My Diamond/Obsidian mine at the bedrock under my base of operations.
I have tracks going in all four cardinal directions to access strip mines further down each cardinal direction.
I built a tower and than incorporated a minecart station at the top of my mountain.
And the rest are just random places throughout my above ground minecart track system.
All above has been mined and crafted in game. The only "cheat" I used is the plumpifier.
Thanks again for all your(and your cohorts) efforts. Minecraft has an awesome community because
of people like you all.
I'm really, really sorry about the lack of updates. I've been under a lot of pressure lately, and I hate to admit it, but I can't for the life of me figure out what I should do for the pickaxes...
Here's what I'm planning:
Picks;
Wood: ...
Stone: ...
Iron: Hammer?
Gold: ...
Diamond: Drill.
Axes;
Wood: Small hatchet? I know I can do better...
Stone: ...
Iron: This? On its side and modified a bit?
Gold: ...
Diamond: Redstone powered mechanical axe?
I'm thinking of sticking with a theme of; Wood - Canes?, Stone - Artifacts?, Iron - Serviceable?, Gold - Ornate?, Diamond - Mechanized? What do you think, any suggestions? Also, any feedback on how to improve my previous items would be appreciated.
Picks;
Wood: Toothpick (so not joking)
Stone: Stone can still be cool given the right handle with cheaper crystals or whatnot
Iron: Pick/hammer. Like a steampunk dwarf would use on rocks OR mobs :biggrin.gif:
Gold: Golden feather (here...not joking again :tongue.gif:)
Diamond: Drill. Yessir!
Axes;
Wood: Be neat to use a hand saw. But Hatchet works
Stone: Here again, stone looks well enough. Maybe an axe/hammer look
Iron: What you show would rock
Gold: ummm...you could make a fancy looking gem encrusted axe since they would still be somewhat useful on wood.
Diamond: Redstone powered mechanical axe? Right on again!

I'm thinking of sticking with a theme of; Wood - Canes?, Stone - Artifacts?, Iron - Serviceable?, Gold - Ornate?, Diamond - Mechanized?
That sounds brilliant. A true gentleman's first priority is to secure himself a variety of canes for all occasions regardless of the circumstances. :biggrin.gif:
here are a few idea i had for the tools (if you want to keep with the theme)
Picks:
Wood: the toothpick works (I hope he meant a scaled up version though). Could also go with a cane with a sharp head coming off the top if you want to keep the theme
Edit: Found this and though it would be neat for the wooden pick (sans the blade)
Stone: how about a dolabra? Although they are normally iron, the fact that it was used for rituals adds to the artifact nature of the tool. (probably should add runes or something to help along the artifact look)
Iron: You could just upgrade the regular (give it a little victorian flair). Then again, a hammer seems pretty cool.
Diamond: Mechanized sounds great.
Gold: not really sure what to put here... I can't even fathom why someone would have a ornate pickaxe like tool.
Axe:
Wood: cane with sharp edge on one side?
stone: native american tomahawk? (with some eagle feathers at one end)
Iron: your picture looks pretty cool
Diamond: once again mechanized = good.
Gold: Fancy golden axe? (like this pin except as a real axe?)
I guess the golden pick axe could be a similar design to the gold axe (kinda like a collector's set)

Pjpuas. Many thanks for sharing like this and for those kind words. Indeed it's this community spirit that keeps me going and finding new inspiration. It's also nice at the end of the day to be able to share the results of one's efforts. I'm not sure there is any other game on the market that can compare in this respect.
So thanks back at you for letting us see your base of operations. A Minecraftian after my own heart...I love my storage facilities as I can see from your pics so do you. You work on a vast scale and that needs a good transportation system. Haha, loving the wall of furnaces...nice and warm in that icy wasteland! :smile.gif:
I've plenty of ideas for new stuff yet for this pack so I hope you continue to have fun with it.

Why not make gold look like it is a chunk of a giant golden (or brass) clock ripped out, that just happens to be shaped like a tool? Then it would look like a piece of machinery that the character has been fooling about with and has decided it won't work, so he/she swings it at the nearest object in frustration. (Its just conincidence that the rough objects match the material they are being used on)

Please note, I'm not always sane when I post. If I have offended you in any way, I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention.
This is looking absolutely gorgeous, man. :biggrin.gif:
I love what you've done with the 'shroomies, and the whole feel of the thing seems to have gotten deliciously Goth.
Keep it up, by all means.
Many thanks, mate! :smile.gif: Haha! Dark and Goth, yes...it's the green gas lamps that does it! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks guys, I'm going to try to make multiple versions of each, so I can try out your suggestions. I should be able to make at least a few today.
And don't feel under pressure about not having done these any faster than you are! Everything is a bonus when folks aren't having to pay and RL is way more important! I look forward to the gadgety goodness, Tlos! :smile.gif:
I just found this texture pack (through the RiverC settings of the BiomeTerrain Mod) and I've gotta say, it's absolutely amazing! I never really cared for steampunk, until now. I don't know what it is, but all of the textures just seem masterfully done; easy on the eyes, well-themed and great detail. I love every texture in the pack; usually I have to switch up textures from all different packs (and usually stop using it anyway), but this pack is just too good for that. Also, the Nether is truly magnificent with this texture pack.
I look forward to your future versions too; the Wild Grass looks awesome in that screenshot and I really like the rusty metal look of the clay (I don't care as much about clay looking like clay as I do about having more steampunk-esque blocks).
Sorry this post isn't more useful, but I just wanted to thank you profusely for this pack - it's really inspired me!
Inside my house.
Front of my house.
Soon to be bigger barn with a horse.
Next addition to the pasture.
Crazy landmark that looks like the painting of the church ceiling. Kinda.
Another land mark.
My buildings were made before I started using this texture pack. I'm going to make some sort of steampunk house. Any ideas?

As far as I'm concerned, mate, this post is extremely useful...it's nice to know when people like what I've done and say so. A pleasant positive comment here and there is highly motivating when there isn't any monetary reward (not that there needs to be financial recompense), I'd still have done these textures for my own use, but it's great to see that others like them too. So I greatly appreciate that you took the time to say what you did.
I've just finished new biome triangles to complement the 'Wild Growing Grass' and it's quite a nice sight lolloping around through a much softer more randomly coloured landscape. My base now has a kind of ruinous unkempt feeling in areas where the grass has been growing thick and fast and a secondary eerie look with the green gas lamps. Hope you all like it. :smile.gif: Should be up this weekend before my Christmas hols. from the forums. Hopefully I will return with a few more new surprises for the pack!
xViinskI: Careful with that sand bridge, one break and it's falling.
Also, I've got some of them done; The toothpick, Edged cane, I feel that it didn't turn out as well as it could have... Wooden cane, hammer, axe thingy. I actually kinda like it. It was really hard to fit it into the space, so I made modifications.
The new sheet, with room for the pickaxes... It's going to start turning into a page stretcher. I'll try to fix this.
Crazy landmark that looks like the painting of the church ceiling. Kinda.
My buildings were made before I started using this texture pack. I'm going to make some sort of steampunk house. Any ideas?
That's quite a cool sand bridge. I've never come across anything like that in my world 3. I've had plenty of sand cave-ins, inparticular when I was carving out my dock. One spectacular cave-in had nearly half my dock draining into an underground cavern. It felt and looked like Niagra falls at one point!
You should get yourself down to the Nether world and haul up lots of Netherplate and build with lovely rusty metal. It'll look nice on all that sand. Whatever you do come back and show us how it turns out! :smile.gif:
Recently at the areonautics club they found this old parchment:
j/k
Lol! HaHa! I'm printing that out! I might even put it in my own personal art file and hang it on the Grand Central Nexus Portal! Seems fitting! Just wait 'till the creepers see that!! :biggrin.gif:

Nothing can stop this texture pack! NOTHING!
did you dig out those caves?
How unbelievably awesome and beautiful is that?^^ That is pure epic steampunkish architecture if ever there was an example of the genre.
Well I know what i want to do now over Christmas! :biggrin.gif:
I'm just waiting for something to come flying down those halls, but at the same time I can imagine the echoing silence, the clangs of distant metal and the rasp of chains. Do what I did and get some portals in there, they have this wonderful deep thrumbing sound that just seems to echo throughout.
I am very happy that folk are making things like this with my textures on such an gargantuan scale!
Thank you for sharing this, Foomonchoo.
