Sorry for not posting for long, HDD died in my usual pc, so I'm quite without a computer til friday, and without any work I've done there, hopefully untill friday too, if I don't get too lazy.
Unfortunately, there isn't a way (as of right now) to add them to the game, your best bet is to play them on a media player while you're playing Minecraft.
That's not necessarily true. I've changed the records song to play custom songs but it doesn't work completely right. The game will randomly select between the original song and the new song and it will replace the song with the original eventually (i think it is next time you open minecraft). Also, i think you can only have one custom song per record.
All you do is convert a song to .ogg format and rename it as the record songs in the resources folder.
I think I read somewhere about mods to keep minecraft from updating the resources folder but I haven't seen anything to stop the random shuffling.
It's a pain in the butt to do but it works.
Yes, there is a mod that can stop the default music being redownloaded, but as you say adds a level of complexity to the pack I'm a little unwilling to include officially. Nothing to stop folks having a go and helping others though! For the sake of Vernian Process it's a given! :smile.gif:

Glimmar, i wanted to bring this to your attention in case you haven't seen it yet. 303 has made a mod for selecting paintings. Yay! It's called PunchAPicture. It is only one class file. I just tried it out and it works great. I know you have an interest in what can be done with paintings. We now have the ability to increase the amount of paintings in the kz.png file with PaintingsmodXtreme and to select which painting will be used. I love it. I am constantly amazed by what the minecraft modding community can accomplish. Oh, here is the thread: 303's Mods
That'll be pretty essential for my painting set and for Tiger4Rulers new extended painting pack we will be releasing soon. Hope they work together. Will be mighty pleased when Notch starts on refining the game and adding proper mod support!
Thanks again, mate.
ps. If you think of any more steampunk jokes, let us know! There's probably a steampunk analogue for every joke going, so perhaps it's not a wise idea asking you for more, knowing your heightened sense of humour! Lol! :biggrin.gif:
The Unwoman and VernianProcess are very cool, thx.
Now for my pics. It took me awhile to build this castle since I did it by hand instead of MCEdit. If it looks familiar, it should, I based it on Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria, Germany. I visited the castle way back in 1980 and fell in love with it.
The top of the tallest tower is at the highest point in the current Minecraft world. If the day ever comes where Notch raises the limits of the sky, how cool would this look perched atop a tall, snow cover mountain bathed in the subtle light of the moon?
This is the front...I cropped it so you can see the front in better detail:
Thanks, Pipehead, glad you like the pack! :smile.gif:
More to the point thanks for using it to build such an awesome castle! Especially love that shot with the moon, I can see you now waiting to 'Prt Scr' at just the right moment! Lol! I'll bump that to the top too and drop something of mine so it doesn't get too bunged up, up there. It deserves to be seen, mate. Kudos for doing it the hard way too!
ps. Loving the look of my green gas lamps on it too! :biggrin.gif:
So I've been working on this for awhile now. It's hard when resources are limited but it's coming along.
Basically the ship will have two blimps to hold it and then steam powered propeller blades on the forward and aft sections of the boat. I still have to finish the bottom deck which will hold the furnace and an area to store the water. The crew quarters will take a bit to complete as I need to find sheep wool. And they don't like to spawn when you need them too :/
Amazing airship, krazygnomefreak! I look forward to seeing the finished monster!
Thanks, Pipehead, glad you like the pack! :smile.gif:

I am honored, truly!
It's funny you mention the moon shot, it was one of those happy accidents that comes along every now and again. I build a quick 1 block tower to get the shot and I saw it was getting dark. Normally, being the admin of the server, I'd change the night into day, but I looked up to see if the shot was going to look good at that particular elevation and viola, the moon was there. I love how it shines through the palace(large section in the back).
heres a picture of my water heater : here is the water heater and a generator is next to it.
We definately need more giant boilers in Glimmer's world! When I do the paintings as utilitarian objects and gadgets etc. I will have to make something that looks like boiler controls. :smile.gif:
Keep up the good work, mate. Mind you don't do too many posts at once though, without using the edit button. Love your enthusiasm though! :smile.gif:
This was the first image in the gallery: See if you can recognize anything...
Haha! I didn't see it at first. Lol! I haven't forgotten I owe you a symbol in this pack when I get on to the paintings for gadgets project! :biggrin.gif:

What's the chain made of? Don't think that's part of the texture pack.
I think this was answered, but just in case not, it's from the 'Fancy Pack' mod. :smile.gif:

Awesome! But maybe you could make him green and glowy, like the old scooby-doo monster.
That's what Notch should use for his first ocean/sea mob! Would fit in really well in this theme! :biggrin.gif:
Preview Time
Amongst other things in the next update (before I sign off for Christmas and the New Year!) There will be a few changes!
Here is my new rusty 'clay' texture which replaces the light blue marble of the original. I think it might have more uses in a steampunk world in bases and as an alternative metal in machinery, etc. Of course it can also be fired into red bricks still (another texture I want to edit sometime). Anyway, let me know what you think. Don't worry, the original blue texture will be on the terrain sheet as an alternative for now:
Coal is also getting a little makeover. Now gas crystals trapped between the chunks and veins of coal, explain why the gas lamps and furnace burn brightly with lambent green flames.
And my first animal mob texture:
The Tamworth Tale...
...or the story of an ugly little pig. There once was an ugly little pig, whose master went to sea to look for strange new lands. He was a faithful little pig, despite his very great ugliness, and although his master was away for many years in the lands of Forum, he always stood on the dockside and waited and watched and hoped for his return
Come rain or shine, by the light of the red moon and the dying sun, he forever seemed to watch for passing ships of the air and sea. Even when all the master's other animals wandered away and his master's little kingdom went to ruin amidst the wild growing grass, the faithful little Tamworth pig stood on the dock side and gazed longingly out to sea.
The little pig believed with all his heart that his master went away because he could not bear to look upon his wrinkled hairy face, and then one day...
The pigs rear end is fine, just be prepared for (horror of horrors!) the 'Tamworth Head', the pig equivalent of the Medusa. Lol! :biggrin.gif:
Then there is my version of the ejhopkins 'Wild Growing Grass' mod, here's a little example of my new 32x32 2d grass texture:
My fern plant has been darkened to better match the colour of the 'Wild Growing Grass'
There will be some other things, both expected and surprising. Nothing major from me however! I'll see if I have some spare time over the Christmas hols.
I think I made a Crane...
Note that the furnace is supposed to be the engine...
That's one very cool crane, CubicMeter! Glimmar's Steampunk needs chains (and rope, pullies, cogs, steam...oops sorry! I've been writing my Christmas present list. :biggrin.gif:). Looking forward to seeing what else you do with the Fancy Pack mod, so that I can offer it as an option. Many thanks, mate!
Here's another castle complex I call FallCrest. It is modeled after Dungeon & Dragons 4th Ed. "Keep On The Borderlands" module which has a castle called FallCrest Keep.
Here is a view of the castle from the outside facing North East. That is the front and only gate into the complex at the center bottom of the image, just to the left of the sand block in my hand. Using SK89Q's SMP mod Craftbook, the drawbrigde is fully retractable in case of an attack.
I hope you enjoyed the shots...I'm working on another construction project that I hope to be more in line with the Steampunk theme. TTYL
Pipehead, what an epic construction project this is! Awesome is an appropriate word in this case. Sorry it's taken me so long to get round to commenting. I seem to be perpetually 2 pages behind these days.:sad.gif:
I love your attention to detail, mate and it truly is a thing of beauty. I've got to choose one of these pics for the top, if I may! It would be criminal of me not to. I really am looking forward to the more steampunkish project you mention above. Judging by what you have done here, it will be worth waiting for. Many thanks for taking the trouble to post the pics and share your work. A great source of inspiration indeed!
...Coal is also getting a little makeover. Now gas crystals trapped between the chunks and veins of coal, explain why the gas lamps and furnace burn brightly with lambent green flames...
Why not drop the coal chunks entirely and make it look like largish (bright green) inverted geodes? Then the gas could be trapped inside the "bubbles" of crystal.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Please note, I'm not always sane when I post. If I have offended you in any way, I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention.
I am amazed by your work PipeHead!!! That castle is simply beautiful!!!
Thanks, I must admit this one was built probably 60% with MCEdit 64-bit Windows edition. I hope you don't hold that against me, but with a full time job, 3 kids in high school or below and 2 kids in college, plus a wife and 2 rabbits, time isn't always on my side to do things by hand! I think if I had done it by hand, I would only be half-way complete instead of 90% complete.
We share almost the same kind of family commitments, Pipehead! Except here we have 6 chickens, a number of koi carp, a border collie, budgie, a number of tropical fish and numerous unwelcome visiting creatures of the rodent persuasion.
As regards your awesome castle build, the end result is all that matters to me, this is a game after all's said and done. It's nice to be able to say something's been achieved by gathering all the materials the hard way, but it doesn't make someone's sense of design and ingenuity any the less to use an editor! And this thread is as much about the idea of steampunk and a certain way of building and not just about survival techniques. Blimey, real life survival with kids is far worse than any creeper attack, and negotiating the weeks shopping far more stressful than spelunking down a mine shaft! I build in Minecraft for the enjoyment, not the terror!
I look forward to seeing what else you construct, whichever way you achieve it. Haha, I'm still doing mine the hard way though, 'cos I'm a bit masochistic that way! Lol!
This is looking absolutely gorgeous, man. :biggrin.gif:
I love what you've done with the 'shroomies, and the whole feel of the thing seems to have gotten deliciously Goth.
Keep it up, by all means.
@All: I am currently messing about with fonts etc., I may make another art file currently abit soul-searching for the content in it as there are tons of canvases (lol had to look up the plural) to be filled. How much interest is there in maybe portraits of e.g. H.G. Wells, Jules Verne and other authors? or rather technical gadgets?
I see some impressive constructions and ideas here, hope to see more..., got to test a whole bunch of mods also, thanks to whoever poted the 303's push paintings mod..
when I got Glimmar's water working..now broken again lol fix it break it a cycle haha
I think the portraits of H.G.Wells and Jules Verne would be a great additon to the paintings selection. Kind of appropriate and a homage to the creators of science fiction and steampunk. Any illustrations from their stories wouldn't go amiss either. You know I've always liked the idea of gadgets as well as paintings.
Tiger, I'll be putting your excellent extended painting file up for grabs at the top with the update this weekend, before I sign off! Thanks, mate. :smile.gif:
I'll second this! I'd set it up myself but I lack any sort of understanding whatsoever on the topic. x3;

im working on a glowing skin for the diver!! i will take a screenshot of my special diver.
it will not glow!!! but the helmet will look like a green versjon of the jack o lantern.
and the chain is from the fancypack
That good sir is the chain from the "FancyPack" mod.
