Wow, thanks, I'm going to go try that and see if it works. If only we could replace the ambient sounds as well.
Edits galore!: You might want to try checking out this mod when you get the chance Glimmar, it proves to be a really interesting effect when exploring underwater or in caves.
Glimmar, i wanted to bring this to your attention in case you haven't seen it yet. 303 has made a mod for selecting paintings. Yay! It's called PunchAPicture. It is only one class file. I just tried it out and it works great. I know you have an interest in what can be done with paintings. We now have the ability to increase the amount of paintings in the kz.png file with PaintingsmodXtreme and to select which painting will be used. I love it. I am constantly amazed by what the minecraft modding community can accomplish. Oh, here is the thread: 303's Mods
Unfortunately, there isn't a way (as of right now) to add them to the game, your best bet is to play them on a media player while you're playing Minecraft.
That's not necessarily true. I've changed the records song to play custom songs but it doesn't work completely right. The game will randomly select between the original song and the new song and it will replace the song with the original eventually (i think it is next time you open minecraft). Also, i think you can only have one custom song per record.
All you do is convert a song to .ogg format and rename it as the record songs in the resources folder.
I think I read somewhere about mods to keep minecraft from updating the resources folder but I haven't seen anything to stop the random shuffling.
It's a pain in the butt to do but it works.
If you have the room, you could just create an ogg file of the whole set of songs in one file. Then they would just play on repeat in-game.
Yeah, I've already replaced the records but. I'm looking to replace the in game music. Oh well I guess I'll just have to suck it up but then I'd be one track short.
The Unwoman and VernianProcess are very cool, thx.
Now for my pics. It took me awhile to build this castle since I did it by hand instead of MCEdit. If it looks familiar, it should, I based it on Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria, Germany. I visited the castle way back in 1980 and fell in love with it.
The top of the tallest tower is at the highest point in the current Minecraft world. If the day ever comes where Notch raises the limits of the sky, how cool would this look perched atop a tall, snow cover mountain bathed in the subtle light of the moon?
This is the north side:
This is the south side:
This is the front...I cropped it so you can see the front in better detail:
I'm instantly struck by jealousy, my castle is nothing compared to that (probably since it's based off one from medieval England) but anyway thumbs up and props for building it by hand.
Q: How many Steampunks does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two, one to change it and a second to glue unnecessary clock parts to it.
Cheers! =)
I think we've all built contraptions to handle that for us by now.
(Left "Glimmar Wrote" in there intentionally, because he's so awesome he deserves a mention in every post of this thread).
More on-topic:
Those biome-triangles you're working on Glimmar, I don't suppose you've worked on using that interesting multiplication discovery that I saw ages ago. Have you? What I mean is, the person who mentioned it was able to create a texture that when in cold biomes, had blue veins through the glass, but when in warmer had yellow flowers. Things like that.
I think that the way this joke could run and run kind of illustrates what makes someone a steampunk at heart. :biggrin.gif:
And I've been feeling guilty about popping up in everyone's comments - don't make it any worse! Lol! :biggrin.gif:
As regards the biome triangles. I'm finding them fun, but frustrating because I can't get my head around those sorts of tricks you mentioned - in terms of colour values, etc. I remember that thread well and thought it very ingenious. I'm afraid if it happens with my biome triangles, it'll be by accident, not intent, I'm afraid! :sad.gif: I understand the principle and idea, but I'm very much an artist in the old sense of slap it on and see what it looks like and make adjustments as and where necessary. Most folk would probably laugh at the way I go about getting my textures to tile - very long-winded and boring (much like my comments really!!). :biggrin.gif: Just thinking about the effects that could be achieved in the landscape (grass in particular) could be quite impressive really, with a combination of those biome effects and the recent 'Wild Growing Grass' mod (which by the way I've done some textures for and will be in the next update).
This also reminds me, I was supposed to finish these triangles off. Got distracted with other things - like Christmas shopping! :sad.gif:
i have seen that you have been talking about those neither blocks.
i see that you like that people are using them.
THOSE BLOCKS IS LOOKING VERY GOOD!
i have made a steam machine of those blocks!!!
i made the water tank out of them!!
this texturepack is the best texturepack i have seen!!! take these !!
Ooo! I'd like to see the steamengine, d95. I was thinking there should be the potential for that sort of thing with these textures. Wow! I should just get going with the paintings to add more pipe and cog types for machinary creation! Thanks, mate.
Just drag and drop the two folders inside there into your minecraft.jar and they will overwrite the default bookcases and give your furniture a more Steampunkish feel. Now of course if you only use one of these awesome mods you only have to merge your .jar with one of them (but why would you use only one if both of them together is ultimate win?).

Please note, I'm not always sane when I post. If I have offended you in any way, I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention.
Hey, is it me or the (WONDERFUL) pumpkinblur.png comes with the bonus of a slight nightvision? Just maked it more awesome!
It does! You are right!
Much is made of this night vision capability of huds, when they have a slight filtered colour overlay, but I am not convinced really. The effect is similarly achievable by turning up the brightness on your monitor, or on an LCD raising your head slightly. It's more convenient to be able to stick an ingame helmet on though!! :smile.gif: However, having looked at examples of dark caves wearing night vision, compared without, I am sceptical. Although it appears everthing is brighter, it does not appear to allow you to see any further (or in more detail) than before... to my eyes anyway. Everything is in the eye of the beholder, as far as I am concerned.
But, pretend I didn't say anything above! Come and get Glimmar's Pumpkin Diving Helm...now with added 'Night Vision' capabilities!!

You, sir, are amazing. I don't have either of those fantastic mods installed yet(just haven't had the time to mess with them), but I've looked at the way you've taken my textures and made them compatible with the FancyPack and Functional Books and you've done a superb job!
You have been very generous with your time and I (can now have a play with these over my Christmas abscence from the forums!) and many others are very grateful for your efforts here. I'm quite touched really just how generous everyone is being towards this pack, but that's what Minecraft does to us. A true spirit of trying to make the experience more immersive and enjoyable for everyone without the big corporations getting involved, A true spirit of Indy...and nice at Christmas too!
I will bump your link to the top and advertise it along with my next update. You wouldn't have some example pics of this artwork in use, CubicMeter? You'd save me the time of testing and Printing, etc. and I'm sure others would love to see what you've done here!
Once again, many, many thanks, mate! :biggrin.gif:
You are far too kind with your praise. I just builds what I Sees. You are very observant and astute in your assumptions , I am indeed a railway modeler in another life. I have built various models of stations from the Victorian Era. I am also a History student with a interest in those years and a keen lover of victoriana. So yes , Im quite familiar with high victorian-edwardian architecture
If you think my work is worthy , then id be honoured to have it on the front page.
Haha! It certainly is more than worthy! Well, I'm really looking forward to seeing updates, as and when you get the chance! Great stuff indeed.

Thank you for your kind words towards my small contribution.
Its funny actually, that that pack really only took me a half hour of copy-pasting in Paint.net. (I only edited the wood textures and recolored the nether stone)
I would link some screenshots of these textures in action, but unfortunately I do not expect to have an account on a picture hosting website for a while because of certain complications.
I do hope to try my hand at the plants later but for now I will be tweaking some of the existing conversions.
Edit: I may actually be able to post some screenshots after all.

do you know how to make mods glimmar?
because i would be cool to have a train with a pipe ontop of the furnance and a cage around the train like the green train:
something like this would be cool!!! but enjoy your cristmas holiday!!
maby a modder wants to make the cage around teh top of the minecart...
I can't code for the life of me! Anything I do will be merely cosmetic as the humble efforts of an artist...not the arcane magic of the modder!
That's the train image there that most catches my eye though! So will start with that I think, over the Christmas hols! It certainly would be cool to have a real little animated train.
