I just found something rather discouraging. While a TNT cannon may work on the ground, it is not going to work in the air... I was trying to fit some cannons onto my airship, but it just blew holes in it. I've had to remake the same part of the ship over twenty times.
Q: How many Steampunks does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two, one to change it and a second to glue unnecessary clock parts to it.
Cheers! =)
I think we've all built contraptions to handle that for us by now.
(Left "Glimmar Wrote" in there intentionally, because he's so awesome he deserves a mention in every post of this thread).

Those biome-triangles you're working on Glimmar, I don't suppose you've worked on using that interesting multiplication discovery that I saw ages ago. Have you? What I mean is, the person who mentioned it was able to create a texture that when in cold biomes, had blue veins through the glass, but when in warmer had yellow flowers. Things like that.
Seriously though, thanks for the extra work on those title screens. I'll choose one for my next update. I was a little disappointed though that unless I start the game in a window, all your excellent work gets lost off screen, bottom right. Not your fault, mate. Just the way the title page gets stretched when I make it fullscreen. I'll just have to put instructions in to run the game at first in a window and then increase to fullscreen when they're at the menu! Unless you know a way round this? I don't want anyone missing out!
Take care, and many thanks again!
Your welcome Glimmar, it was no trouble at all really. You know i always start minecraft in a window. I never noticed that it does that. After you mentioned it though i checked and it sure does. The default mojang title screen behaves the same way when started in full screen. I wish i had a fix for it but i don't know of one. Hopefully there is a lot of players that start minecraft in windowed mode like me. =D

It's a misinterpretation, all the clock parts actually create a perpectually active lightbulb. Hardly unnecessary...

Glimmar, what exactly do I do with the underwater breathing sounds? I noticed in your video that it plays underwater for you, and it loops. Do I simply place it in a folder or what? Do I need some class for file for it to play?
And, if I do figure out what to do with it and find out it goes in one of the sound folders, will it get overwritten and disappear every time I start minecraft, like what happens with all the other default sounds?
Glimmar, don't take it the wrong way. People think I'm female all the time. It's your kind ways. Most males on the internet tend to be overtly-aggressive and assertive, with very little time for politeness or niceties. Regardless.
I'd like to ask something. I don't feel right doing so, but it is what it is. One of the things I didn't like about Gerudoku was the leather armor was a suit. Clothing. I know the armor name is 'cloth' but it's obviously made from leather. If at all possible, I'd like, whenever you get to your items.png of course, to have an optional leather armor as opposed to some suit or other. An alternate, if you will, as I'm sure most would like a nice morning suit for their 'leather.' Again, whenever you get to your items.png of course. And if you don't even want to do it, I can't complain. The texture pack is nice as it is.
Oh, and I whipped up an overlay for MrMessiah's SimpleMap. Unfortunately, it's just some yellow-shifted gears from the default minecraft.jar stuck in the corners of the Doku overlay that comes with his SimpleMap (as well as some minor changes to make things fit better). I'm not really an artist, more of an editor.
Haha! Thanks minalkra! I was trained from an early age to be polite! I'm just waiting for retirement age when I can insult everyone with impunity...not long now!!!
Given time, I'd hope there will be all sorts of armour styles. I reckon that it's entirely possible that the leather armour could be along the lines of a guy in a morning suit with a leather apron and goggles on. Each set of armour certainly needs to look progressively more armoured and sophisticated, but starting with the gentleman inventor with his suit, apron and goggles.
There's one thing for sure with this theme, we're never going to run short of ideas for add-ons! :smile.gif:
Hey, I'd like to see what you did with that SimpleMap overlay!
you must make a texture plz
these trains is so cool!!
try to make a texture glimmar can add to the pack
Hi, d95.
I agree those trains certainly get my pulse racing. I've always loved the sight and sound of trains and steam engines, but I'm no expert like sirscott and Triskelli. They've given me plenty to think about though. :smile.gif:
If I get time over the Christmas hols. (yes, I'm going to have a holiday away from the forum, then I can concentrate on implementing some of the amazing ideas you guys have been offering up!), I'd like to have a go at improving the minecart, amongst other new things. One step at a time though! :smile.gif:

do you know how to make mods glimmar?
because i would be cool to have a train with a pipe ontop of the furnance and a cage around the train like the green train:
something like this would be cool!!! but enjoy your cristmas holiday!!
maby a modder wants to make the cage around teh top of the minecart...

Alright, let's see if this will work here.
And I prefer more, well, traditional music. So I have the Arcanum soundtrack playing in the background while I mine for diamond *coughironcough*. A lossless version (wav files) can be found here as an executable here. For those who prefer MP3 formats, here is one. That is, if you like chamber music. Or mix it up and shuffle Vernian Process in. Actually, that's not a bad idea.
im just listened the "Behold the machine" and i think i must write something about Vernian Process...
YOU GUYS( and girls if there's one)ARE AMAZING!!!11
I love your dark music, which fit in steam punk atmosphere and im honored that you are so generously that u give us your brilliant music for free!
Im looking forward to see more your great work and as music-educated person i admire your great talent!
Again, i love your music guys!
Now im want to show you my idea about weapon texture. I see crosbow, two pistols and preety cool harpoon rifle, but nobody create something like that:
That would be sweet to can shoot the creepers with sonic rifle, but i don't have idea about bullets...
yet. ;]
Really glad you're enjoying their music and I agree with you, they have been extremely generous in allowing us to use their music in this way to enhance the atmosphere of steampunk minecraft. Hope you saw the link for the extra track they've been working on. Check out their gorgeously designed website and you'll discover they're all guys...no girls!
As regards that rifle, yes, it would be fantastic to have the use of something like that in-game. There are some rifle mods out there that could be adapted I'm sure, but beyond my time and skills at the moment. I've not even had time to try out Tlos's fantastic crossbow and harpoon gun! That's unforgiveable of me! What time I've had has been spent trying out textures for the Wild Growing Grass mod and trying to get the Breathing Apparatus and Decaying Leaves mods to work with the Better Light mod. For some reason i cannot fathom I can't get them all to play ball together and my experiments keep getting interrupted with real life stuff like decorating for Christmas, etc. Just picture the Grizwald's household in 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' and you get the idea! :biggrin.gif:

Thanks to both of you, and Abrazil, we actually have a non-official female member of the band, who has her own project. You can hear her solo work at http://www.unwoman.com. She plays Cello with us live quite often.
Oh and Glimmar, Tiger4Ruler's video was really fun to watch. I though the music worked especially well while he was riding around in that minecart. =)
Unfortunately, there isn't a way (as of right now) to add them to the game, your best bet is to play them on a media player while you're playing Minecraft.
Edit: Before I forget, congrats Glimmar, I had no clue about Steampunk before this mod, and now I'm in love with it. I actually started drawing up designs for airships, watches, and diving helmets. So thank you Glimmar, thanks a lot!

That's not necessarily true. I've changed the records song to play custom songs but it doesn't work completely right. The game will randomly select between the original song and the new song and it will replace the song with the original eventually (i think it is next time you open minecraft). Also, i think you can only have one custom song per record.
All you do is convert a song to .ogg format and rename it as the record songs in the resources folder.
I think I read somewhere about mods to keep minecraft from updating the resources folder but I haven't seen anything to stop the random shuffling.
It's a pain in the butt to do but it works.
