East is pointing to the spawn point, right? Does it make sense? It's kinda weird.
It looks insanely great tho.
Glad you like it. Many thanks for the kind comment.
As regards the compass bearing, have another look. As the dial spins around, when East or 'E' is under the pointer at the top, the digit readout very briefly states 090 degrees, while the yellow star representing the spawn or last sleep location gives a digit readout of 000 degrees. West as 'W' gives a digital reading of 270 degrees. I had four places on the digital readout to display numbers, so used the first 3 for '000' to '360' and the fourth place to remain fixed as the small upper 'zero' degree symbol.
If anything is a bit wrong, it's that the clock disc spins the opposite way to everyone else's clock, namely the sun and moon travel anti-clockwise rather than clockwise. I prefer it that way though, but it takes some getting used to at a glance. When I've a bit more time and patience I'll make a version that goes the way most peeps would expect. I'm an awkward old beggar!
ps. here's hoping I have got the compass right. I did just check and it did seem right to me, but I don't have a lot of confidence in my technical abilities in the wee small hours of the night after a busy day at work and with the family.
Glimmar's Steampunk v.18 Ongoing Update for Minecraft
Just tying up loose ends here (and not trying to make very poor carpet making jokes!), before the last video, which hopefully will show off and explain my new 'soundscape' add-on resource pack which will be uploaded at the same time as GS v18.
Before we go any further, please take note: credit and sincere thanks go to Norzeteus of 'Norzeteus Space' fame, who helped me with necessary json code to get my redstone pipes working again. If you want the very best futuristic sci-fi resource pack instead of this old antique wreck of a steampunk pack for your MC experience then look no further than 'Norzeteus Space'.
This video deals with the new random connected spruce double slab texture, a couple of new ctm (connected) carpets, I'd hoped for more, but with so many boats and ctm, etc. That wasn't to be. I'm just wanting to get an upload out. Oh...there's also some new random diamond and emerald ores for greater variety and a reminder of the new redstone dust and redstone pipe add-on pack and how to use it along with a comparison.
Please remember the new GS v18 upload will not be a complete update right up to MC 1.10, it will very much be a work-in-progress pack, so will contain everything featured in all the recent videos. It will free me up then to work differently. After the GS v18 update I intend to release a new video and an update after each bit of completed work that will alleviate the pressure I feel in trying to keep up with all the new MC releases, but will allow interested fans to try out new stuff almost as soon as I finish things. My work/home/leisure time balance has changed dramatically over this past year, but I still enjoy making new textures for and building in Minecraft, so I don't intend giving up, just progressing slowly and at my own pace.
I'll let this video speak for itself...one more vid to go after this. Thanks for your patience.
Glimmar
Thanks for watching.

Well, everything looks awesome to me! Just as always. Glim
However I could not to notice that in "crystalline" version of redstone, cross-sections sparkle too fast. Yet - the sparkle effect is awesome, man! I haven't seen something like this anywhere. Most of textures are just bright red and dark red...
You've made my day brighter
Also, when do you plan the release? Is there some approximate term?

Thank you guys.
As regards releasing the partial update (as mentioned in the info to the video above, it's by no means fully updated...can't reiterate that enough), there's just the big 'GS sound pack 1' to demonstrate in a video/s and then I want to get what I've done so far uploaded. After which I can video and upload an update each new bit of work I do.
I'm trying to get away from the pressure of having to work on everything for a 'complete' update, as it's just too much with RL stuff encroaching on all sides. I still love building and videoing stuff in Minecraft, as GS is very important to me as a means of relaxation and artistic endeavor.
Thanks again for looking in and the kind comments everyone...much appreciated as always.
ps. I'm away for a few days soon, which might delay things a little longer. My eldest son has just achieved a double 1st at Oxford, after some pretty traumatic times, so we're off to his graduation as very proud parents.
I'd just like to return the encouragement you sent my way - this pack is freaking amazing, friend.

Ah! Many thanks, jehkoba. Those are kind words indeed.
I must apologise for not looking in on your pack of late...I was really enjoying seeing all the new 3d models you were making. I'm much the same as yourself though really, just trying my best with limited time to keep updating things, meaning I don't get around as much as I used to.
At least you're still motivated to keep your pack updated. So much good ones have been abandoned. You're very talented, I'm glad you keep doing your art on Minecraft. This pack is a gem.

Might I suggest using some sort of steam-powered gun for the fishing rod? That way you might be able to choose a more appropriate sound as it fires the hook and bobber out of its barrel, like one of those toy guns with corks?

Well not so good this year as life is a real chore at the mo'. Many thanks though.
Hey Glimmar I'm having trouble with getting the male skin do you think you can link me to it
It's in the pack, but as far as I know unless you play offline your stuck with your online low res avatar. I'm not very up-to-date with info on avatars so there may be other ways now of activating high res characters. Sorry for not being more helpful.

Someone recently suggested making the fishing rod into a harpoon gun, I think this was on my Youtube channel. This would mean that the steam powered gun sound effect could work for fishing too. I'll have to look into making the harpoon steam-powered, but finding the time to get in front of my PC is the problem at the moment.
There are, rosestorm90, but unfortunately I can't get in front of my PC to sort the work I've done. My house has turned into a UK version of 'This Old House' since Spring, and to make matters even more complicated, we've bought another house to renovate for 'letting' as an attempt to offset the terrible interest rates banks are offering at the moment, so I've really got my hands full with contractors, digging, tearing stuff down and building stuff back up again (haha...sounds very technical!).
What a fantastic texture pack! Thank you for sharing here, I really hope that hope that you will find some time to finish the latest update.
Thank you so much! I really intend to...when I next get a chance. Have a look at my most recent videos to see what I've been working on and what's to come. However, the next update won't be updating the pack fully to 1.10 I'm afraid, but there will be plenty of new stuff.
-------------------------------------------------
So sorry to everyone who might be painstakingly checking this thread from time to time to see if the pack has been updated. It is most certainly not abandoned, but circumstances just now (as spoken about above) are preventing me from any meaningful length of time to sit at my main PC and do 'art' stuff.
I'm glad to know you're alive, I was worried about what happened to you! But as I read in your last post, it`s all cleared up!
Good success with your renovation....
All the best,
Norzeteus
(I`v released my mod finally....)
Just about alive. I fell off a (not too high) ladder the other day...backwards and clobbered a wall with the back of my head. A bit of blood loss, but as there's not much sense up there anyway it didn't hurt that much! Scraped my hand down a side wall though trying to cushion my fall and that's a lot more painful now. My own stupid fault and something I haven't done before, so lesson learned. What's left of my senses still seem to be working ok.
Ooooo! When I'm up and running again with my PC I will definitely be trying your mod out, Norzeteus.
I reckon this a Minecraft forum problem....or at least I hope it is. Everything is working at Imgur's end and my membership there hasn't lapsed or anything. Similar to other problems I've had with my OP, I wonder if the forum programmers have been tinkering with the editor or changing commands, etc. I haven't changed any of my text copy up there recently.
I can still access the pics in the albums from my OP by clicking on the Imgur logo. However, I have no idea if this is just happening to albums in my thread or if everyone here at the MC forums is affected too. Hopefully it might right itself in time, as it is I haven't really the time or wherewithal to check at the moment, sorry.
MC forums is very veird thing I must say. At home I use Firefox browser and it lags horribly. Even if page has minimum images, low-resolution images. But if I use Chrome - everything runs OK. But there was a time when it worked fine on Firefox for a month. Apparently, they've "fixed" something when noticed that it started work properly
And regarding Imgur albums - yes, I see them not work properly too. Shame on those MC forums developers!
Wow the clock is awesome.
But there's something odd about the compass IMO.
East is pointing to the spawn point, right? Does it make sense? It's kinda weird.
It looks insanely great tho.
