I plan to make a whole set of diffferent ctm textures for spruce wood stuff, like slabs, stairs, columns'o'slabs. It'll be awesome, 'cause I've gathered a lot of materials
Just wanted to stop in and say thank you for your hard work. My family and I have just stumbled upon your wonderful creation and it has brought new life into our Minecraft time (we play as a family on LAN). I must say that your artwork is phenomenal and I would be happy to showcase your banner in my signature in support.!
On a sad note; we stumbled upon it on resourcepack_dot_net which seems to be clearly against your updated TOU in the OP. I hope you can get it rectified. (As soon as you see this I'll edit out this last sentence.)
Many thanks for those kind words, OcAMD...very encouraging indeed! That would be awesome and an honor if you could display my banner in your sig.
Also, Lovely that you play as a family. My lads have long since lost interest in my work, but we do still occasionally play MC together, but only in vanilla survival with lots of mods and usually roping me in to do all the drudge work like mining and making roads, which strangely I still find immensely relaxing as it carries no weight of Glimmar work responsibility!
Welcome to the weird world of Glimmer!
If you fancy posting some pics of your builds, all dressed up in Glimmar textures, for me to pick and choose for the OP gallery, that would be great for everyone, not least me!
Thanks for the heads-up on resourcepack_dot_net. I know there are many other websites that host my pack too, some just feature pictures and link back which is great, others just simply exploit the hard work of modders and artists and profit from advertising all in the name of providing a service, but really it's just dishonest without permission, but it would be a full time job to track them all down and follow up with warnings etc. Sometimes I have a round up, but it's still really very discouraging! Sadly, that's the way of the internet and the world. Where there's a potential financial exploit someone will try and cash in on it.
Distracted from my distraction by the Wreck of the Schooner Demeter - the prow of which has been dragged ashore as a display next to the Demeter Memorial Stub Light.
Known as the Merter Light, the memorial was built to prevent further groundings on the Hobson's Spit. In this photograph the keeper's quarters are currently being expanded, as a new bridge is being constructed to allow congress with the mainland.
Dear Glimmar
I would just like to say thank you a million times for the textures. Every update my minecraft does not feel right until I get the correct Glimmar's Steampunk for it. I use it mostly for creative worlds, shamelessly lazy by cutting the work down with worldedit, but they would look downright strange without your amazing victorian textures. I post pictures on Deviantart, but I probably wouldn't get half the veiws, correction: ANY, without your selfless hard work and quality texturemanship. Thanks a stack-ful. http://micmi.deviantart.com/art/Meridian-City-Clocktower-515387717
Wonderful building work there, cmg007! Amazing patience and creativity! Thanks for posting pics though...it's a huge encouragement to me and inspiration to others. Also many thanks for those kind words. It still means a lot when folk take the time to post their thanks. I'm not sure I deserve such praise on a pack that's been 5 years in the making...especially as it's still not anywhere near finished.
I'll feature some of those pics of yours in the OP Gallery if I may. Let me know if you'd rather I didn't, otherwise I'll take it as being ok.
Removed old versions of images and replaced them with images from the latest resource pack. Also added a lot more, including some of my (first ever) airship, new factories, more houses and station.
The two apartment buildings came from an old world, using worldedit, and I've altered them slightly so they aren't exactly alike. The City Hall also came from an old world - but altered after placement. Several citizens found themselves (accidentally) transported to Lindretha City too - note to myself to check who is inside any buildings before copying them via worldedit!!!
Everything else was built from zero. And all of the buildings are furnished/ contain items and objects.
Glimmar - I'm more than happy for you to share any and/or all of the photos/album - they're all ,jpegs so should be easy for you to do so.
Wow! You've been busy, Lindreth, fantastic stuff!
As soon as I can I'll definitely be going through all those pics to choose some more for the Gallery. Many thanks!
It's the Easter Hols here in the UK, so I'll be tied up with family for the best part of two weeks, hence my absence the past few days. It doesn't mean I've stopped working on things that badly need attention, but it does mean that I won't have much time to follow up on posts here for a while...something's got to give I suppose, and I think you'd rather I was still working on new stuff than 'gabbing' here too much!
It was very encouraging to see all the posts and pics and the interaction above, so please feel free to continue to post pics and ideas for builds etc.
...and my OP is most definitely broken for editing purposes, it's not just BBcode editing that's a problem, even if I try editing using the forum editor it messes everything up in the preview, so I'll need to pursue this with admin now! In future I'm going to try to design the OP so I don't have to make changes for simple updates and pics can easily be changed outside the forum using the established Imgur, the only problem being my video library. But this whole business of unreliability is a great spanner in the works!
Be on the look out for additions to the Gallery in the OP as I will try to keep up with that and please do check out Megistus' mod and alt textures for any gaps in the pack that might be frustrating you, he has a huge collection of complimentary artwork based on my textures and they really are staggeringly comprehensive. If it's a block you want to change you only need to change it's name and drag it into the 'blocks' folder in the pack.
Anyways, have a good two weeks folks and as soon as I can I'll hopefully be back to show some new things.
Dear Glimmar
Of course you can use my pictures, I would be honoured! If you see any you would like to feature from my DA gallery, I would be more than happy to link them to you!
Happy easter!

Just a quick stop by to see how things are going, to apologise for not updating the Gallery yet and to give a well deserved plug for an awesome adventure journal by DirtDog called 'The Ballad of Dirt Dog' found here:
DirtDog has a gentle and quirky style of humour that has me chuckling at every journal entry and the best bit for me is that there is now a tie in with Glimmar's Steampunk with the latest journal entry. If you have any spare time left after building and dreaming or you like reading well written humorous stories you should head over to DirtDog's thread this minute and follow the adventures of Dirt Dog and his side-kick potato Mr. Pekingsworth...great stuff for the Easter holidays 'cos chickens feature heavily in it too!
**********************************************
I've been working on a number of little projects, one of which is the introduction of a 128x gun in place of a bow, 'Bioshock Rapture' style, complete with new sound effects for it (which means I've crossed the hurdle of putting my own sounds in the pack! So got me thinking about atmospheric ambient sounds and appropriate music hall music for the music player, etc). Had great fun with target practice though and trying to decide what type of bullet/dart to use in place of an arrow. Bullets alone are hard to find, so I'm initially going for a kind of bullet/dart cross with small red flights at the end for easier finding in the wild, but I'll make variations to suit user preference.
Also after seeing such inspiring iron and cast iron alt textures from Megistus, I've been tinkering with lots of existing iron textures to bring them in line with each other in preparation for adding the prismarine...and constructing some fine buildings in the process...well they look fine and dandy to me!
I've even managed a bit of Bioshock play (purely for research purposes I might add) and it's been amazingly inspirational (also taken lots of screenshots for later perusal...see, I told you it was for research purposes! ). Last time I played it was a year before I took to playing Minecraft in 2009! So it got me experimenting with a new underwater glass panel (still good for surface construction too), building experimental undersea domes and tubes and generally dreaming about vast deep sea ocean complexes and Guardian Marine creatures. I'll eventually have to play Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite, both of which I possess, but have yet to even install! Such is my devotion to Minecraft ('devotion'? More like 'madness!).
Anyways, please visit DirtDog's thread and have a nice weekend and Easter.
Be back soon, hopefully with something concrete (well more like metallic) to show.

So, you're planning to add some custom music to jukebox block?
Yup! ...and a different selection of atmospheric cave sounds.
In between having a break, I've been putting together as many atmospheric sounds as I can for inclusion in a sound pack, or possibly multiple sound packs, primarily concentrating on material for use with the Minecraft music player.
I'm slowly working towards making a pack of music and sounds that users can play in strategically placed music players to create atmospheric moods in small interiors, large interior concert hall spaces, working spaces and outdoor areas.
Music will cover things like open air street music (mechanical pipe organs, orchestrons, clock musical chimes, funfair, etc), small interior music ( eg. music boxes and parlour piano), music appropriate to large public areas like concert halls and churches (eg. echoing distant grand piano, large church organ).
Sound effects will hopefully cover things like mechanical, steam hisses, machines, pistons, 'clackity-clack' noises, engines, as mixes that one can place strategically next to and inside of appropriate builds like airships, subs, engine rooms, deep sea bases, etc.
At this stage I'm still collecting and mixing material and trying to decide how to make the most of just 10 music cylinders (eg. 2 engine/machine sounds, 2 outdoor street music pieces, 2 indoor piano/music box tunes, 2 concert hall/church organ recitals, 2 something else?). I've acquired enough pieces to make at least 3 separate music player sound packs, but just one needs to be the main official one.

Will you release some kind of archive with uncut samples of sounds? So if, for example, I'll be using mod for custom jukebox discs ( which actually exists and can make a music disc from .ogg file ) to make, like, several discs with specific sounds for machinery.
In general, I imagine this like "Glimmar's Alternative Sounds"
However, your idea is great, cant wait to hear some abient-tracks from you!
There are so many unique aspects of this pack that I believe are just perfect for a sound pack. This pack along with the last days pack are pretty much the ideal candidates for custom sounds so I really can't wait to see hear what you come up with, sure it will be brilliant as usual mate!

Thanks for the great plug. Hopefully this latest appearance by Professor Glimmarspark is merely an introduction and I am able to work in the future adventures I have in mind with the Glimmar resource pack that can showcase and really show some things that will make both my work and this pack truely shine.
I'm really digging the new train tracks and particles, but struggling to identify any other changes that have been made (apart from the white stained clay which continues to grow increasingly ill-suited to the white part of the eye mosaic on my rotunda floor, harrumphharrumphharrumph).
I did notice two problems, though. The new bonemeal particle is erroneously displaying as the "sold" particle rather than whatever it's supposed to look like... unless it's supposed to look like that, in which case never mind. and despite the lovely preview pictures of the new sandstone, the sandstone hasn't actually changed.

Can you provide a screenshot BrokenEye? I'm just curious because I have all the changes you feel you are missing.
As for the Sold Particle I believe the bonemeal particles and the positive villager interaction particles pull the same texture in Vanilla. Change one, change both.
After delving into mods (backtracked to 164 to play my selfmade modpack with the missus) and found that...
wait for it...
wait for it...
wait for it...
There's no support for computercraft!!!!!!!!!
But I still use this and Flow's HD Incessantly, no matter the compatibility/support.
Thaanks to the millionth for a great pack man.. now I'm off to figure why my forge broke and why my sounds keep needing to be reinstalled.
Keep it up broseph.

Did you locate my old 1.6.4 modpack support? I have been pretty disappointed that TC has not updated to 1.7... maybe one day and I will pick up supporting that again.
For anyone else that is interested ... here is all the 1.6.4 work that I had done.
Glim himself does not support any mod. All the work I do is specifically for mods that I play. And considering that currently my mod support texture pack is at 260Mb with 10000+ images ...
However, if you do feel so inclined, take a look at not only the work I have done, but, take a look into the packs that KSheep put together and you should be able to get a reasonable pack update put together yourself. And if you do ... please be sure to share it on here

Yeh I understood that haha
I just wish my modpack was fully supported.. perhaps one day I'll release it and get with you and others in this circle to try and complete the looks for me!
My last was more of a joke than anything, as the packs you and glim have are as complete as they need to be, and surpass the quality of most regardless.

Well, there are textures for computercraft in old mod support archive, done by VermillionTwilight. Those just need to be cropped from their general file and named properly to work with computercraft. I planned to do so, but I in my world didn't progressed to that point, when I need computercraft.
So if you want those - you can make yourself some from ready stuff
EDIT:
Traincraft... heh, I guess with the it's current progress we'll sooner swith to the 1.9 and it's own mod support, rather than see traincraft

Try building with sandstone slabs. I think you will find what you are looking for as far as textures.
...
Also, Figured I would show a bit of what I am working on ... especially in the way of bookshelves. I have recently added Gany's Surface mod to my collection. As such, for the mod, wood type bookshelves were added. Well, I had to do a bit of a make over of how I have worked bookshelves.
The Oak Bookshelves will be found in my Alt pack, the rest will be found in the mod texture pack.

i do not even need to explain why but man i love the hell out of this pack.

Curse PremiumGenerally, working on a sound pack now. To start with - music and sound effects for the music player...so new player and cylinders. Also collecting together atmospheric sounds. Not sure how I'm arranging all these together, but hopefully in a useful way for everyone to get the most out of them.
ps. time-consuming though.
So, you're planning to add some custom music to jukebox block?

Curse PremiumThanks, mate.
Lovely to see you round these parts again.
Yup! ...and a different selection of atmospheric cave sounds.

This pack along with the last days pack are pretty much the ideal candidates for custom sounds so I really can't wait to
seehear what you come up with, sure it will be brilliant as usual mate!

Aw! I finally found a fault!

Curse PremiumDid you locate my old 1.6.4 modpack support? I have been pretty disappointed that TC has not updated to 1.7... maybe one day and I will pick up supporting that again.
For anyone else that is interested ... here is all the 1.6.4 work that I had done.
1.6.4 Modpack Support

Soitenly...

Curse PremiumTry building with sandstone slabs.
