I cant play Minecraft without this resource pack, its original and its a pleasure to look at, keep up the great work your doing with this pack, and the new updates are amazing, looking forward to what the future of this pack brings.
Thank you, BullJaw.
Also, welcome to the forums...it's an honour to receive your first post.
Thanks for the welcome Glimmar, been lurking for some time, so thought it best to join and keep in with this awesome pack of yours, out of curiosity, you have any plans or ideas of what you will be doing next, as the port holes and gas bags have opened up a new world of building ideas for me.
Well, the new 1.8 stone will need attention of course, and inevitably the old stone. The endless dull weather we're experiencing here in the UK is preventing me getting out with my camera to take ref pics of stone and concrete in good light, so I'm gathering up inspiration online too. I'm also always on the look out now to improve the hardened clay textures with as varied and useful textures as I can, but again it's dependent on the weather.
I still can't decide how I'll organize the gasbag and scaffolding variations of the new slime texture.
Mojang sneaked in a lot of little changes to the gui for 1.8, so I've started on that in the hope the weather improves later.
I'm pressed for time with RL work and other projects at the moment, and have taken up regular cycling to get back to full fitness, but I'm always casting an eye over other blocks and items to see what takes my fancy to improve. As lazy as it might sound, I'm trying not to burn the candle at both ends or after too many nights it takes the fun out of Minecraft as the staying power and inspiration ebb away...so 'steady as she goes' really.
It just feels like an age since I was able to work on expanding my city of Newglim, which is a shame for my little video projects, but more so because I derive a lot of inspiration from building things. It's too easy to slog away at new textures without really seeing how useful they will be over time. So I'm looking forward to pushing the city boundaries again!
Glad to hear the gas bag and portholes will be of some use.
Personally Glim, (Though last time I made a "personally" suggestion it was stamped out by majority), I like the scaffolding more, but it might not make as much sense to some people (crafting recipe and such) so you might wanna keep the gasbag as default.

I'm not too sure, it's your pack in the end.
I've yet to try it, but I want to see what it looks like to replace the '4x4 industrial glass brick' stained glass texture (silver), with the scaffold and keep the gasbag as the slime. The only problem I foresee is that the stained glass scaffold might not have as much 'depth' and complexity to it as the slime scaffold...the slime having that unique double layer that gives the impression of internal struts. Also, there's always the danger that it will break somebody's build if they've been using my glass brick block.
Personally I think the scaffold will have way more uses than the gas bag, but if we can have both available at the same time...even better!
The weather has been shocking as of late, and I only know to well how RL gets in the way of pleasure, but it sounds like you have plenty of things to be doing and finding time can be a mission on its own.
Thats why I think this texture pack has so much potential, as the buildings and themes are endless, scaffolding on its own opens up new ideas for building and great for getting the imagination rolling, but keep up with NewGlim, as I do like watching your YT channel.
Look forward to what ideas and designs you come up with, right then back to Minecraft and see if I can get somewhere with an oil rig idea I have, Im sure the gas bags and port holes will be playing an essential role
Yeh! Rain has been persistent all over the UK this winter, but worse in some places than others...so depressing! I'm well looking forward to spring and some proper sun.
Well, there's lots to improve for sure and lots to update to 64x, therefore I'm doing my best, albeit slowly, to work back over things I had to rush to keep up with each MC update. Having said that, it's always been a general aim of mine to make blocks that are modular and useful, given the industrial sci-fi steampunk theme, rather than blocks that exactly conform to their assigned Minecraft role.
Also, as I'm more interested in making 'epic' constructions (sounds a bit too grand to say that), everything has to work well for that mid-range to distance view, although I do try my best to make things interesting up close where possible. I'm not really one for wanting to make cosy cottages and hamlets in survival at the moment (though I occasionally dip into FTB with vanilla textures for that)...it's the big architectural monstrosities where Minecraft really allows your imagination to run riot, where I can use girders and ironwork, bricks and modular stained glass on a massive scale...that's what keeps me interested in Minecraft!
Excellent! I shall proceed with the stone for now until I can edit the slime gasbags using the effects of MCPatcher.
If I had to do it verbally, I'd be fairly hopeless these days, though I used to play a game when I was younger where you had to talk about a given subject for a full minute without repeating any word or phrase...I was quite good at that. For years I didn't realize I'd been playing a popular BBC Radio4 Comedy Competition show called 'Just a Minute'. Still one of my favorite programs to listen to when I'm driving.
Sounds almost like "Wait, wait, don't tell me!" on NPR, here in the US.
Sounds almost like "Wait, wait, don't tell me!" on NPR, here in the US.
Well, looking that up on Wiki I'd say 'Wait, wait' sounds more like BBC Radio 4's 'The News Quiz', which is also one of my must listen to comedy programs when I'm driving. 'Just a Minute' has 4 celebrity guests competing with each other to speak on a word or phrase for 1 minute, without 'hesitation, repetition, or deviation' and the other contestants are allowed to interrupt if they think the speaker has broken one of those rules...with hilarious banter ensuing...however, so as not to completely get off-topic, I'll say the Wiki has all the finer details.
There's usually lots of cross-Atlantic creative licences bouncing back and forth, so I dare say you'll have something exactly the same...ours started in 1967 and is still incredibly popular today...it just gets more irreverent and wacky every year, but still has the same host!
And...yes, I've never bounced around so much in my life...marvelous invention these slime sealed canvas gasbags...what, what!
ps. Did you really post that at 4.00am, or am I looking at US time?
Haha in my tiredness (yes i was still up) I said Air not Gas!
In my defense........... err well not actually defense I think I will just stick with FUN BAGS, i mean who doesn't enjoy a bouncy fun bag or two... *sÂ* *sÂ* say no more, say no more

SO what ya workin on now my good man?
Flippin' stone! I hate the stuff! Love it in the real world...hate experimenting with stone textures in the Minecraft world, and so rather than tackling the problem head-on, I took the easy route and distracted myself with updating gui.
On the positive side, we at last got a little sun yesterday, so I was out and about with my camera taking pics of granite and weathered concrete.
Two talented resource pack makers on the same thread, collaboration maybe on Chroma Punk or Steam Hills , Looking forward to the new stone Glimmar
Haha! Those titles sound really cool! However, judging by how late Syclone was up when he posted at 5.00am in the morning, I assume like me with my pack, he's got his hands full just with Chroma. He's also way in advance of little old me...and like everyone else round here, except me of course, lightning fast with the textures. I like to think we share the same daft sense of humour though.
As regards stone, I've been chipping away at stone_andesite today, though it came out rather smooth, so I need to roughen it up a bit or stone_andesite_smooth is going to look way too similar. Also noticed that the villager gui will need editing to fit in all the new profession titles. Fiddly little jobs those.
On top of installing the latest snapshot MCPatcher beta patch (great to have the sky and everything else back), I had some fun with the new 'barrier' block...as it happens they make great invisible supports for carpet tiles, so constructing thin wings on airships was a doddle! I'm not sure if that's the sort of thing Mojang had in mind, but it was amusing trying out other barrier block ideas...like making giant floating water pyramids and water bridges!
Now...back to banging my head against a stone wall!
Loving the current work, Glimmar. Hell, I might as well stay quiet, since I'm only ever going to gush praise, but I feel like you probably revel in it. You must realize how fantastic you are.
When slime blocks were added to Minecraft, my reaction was a very resounding "meh." What purpose do those blocks? And then you made them airship balloons...and now I can't wait for 16.
Hehe, I don't really understand the "tone" of this sentence because I'm not so good in English, but I want to say: exactly! I'm a big fan of their (absurd) humor (including this sketch, moreover, I have two aliases, for quite some times, and the second is "Saynomore").
/endof"Itellmylife"
You got the humour absolutely spot on, Cynips, so definitely no problems with your understanding of English.

Well, Rosestorm is to be thanked for persuading me to have a look at the idea of gas bags for the slimes.
Also with regard to being 'fantastic', the honest truth is I'm not very confident at all about my digital artistic abilities, which probably accounts for why I struggle long and hard to make each and every texture, in the hope they will work in the context of my pack. Whereas for some, having to make 10 or so new textures might represent a few hours of work, for me it represents many days (on and off) labouring to achieve something I feel I'm not capable of delivering. Sometimes I think I get a satisfactory result, but most of the time I think I could do better and I suppose that's what keeps me coming back for more punishment! With that in mind, although the work is very precious to me, because of all the effort I put into it, I don't consider it as being anything special!
So all compliments, yours included, are most gratefully received as 'confidence boosters', as I seriously don't think of myself as 'fantastic', far from it, just perhaps a 'grafter' with a bit of an eye for slavish detail is about the best it gets!
I'm just glad someone else likes what I'm doing...thanks, WilGrieve.
The slime blocks allow you to bounce on them, the height depending on the height you landed on them from and they also negate fall damage.
So they can be interesting ways to get down from a high structure or onto it.
Imagine having a large airship home and using smaller airships to get to it by bouncing on them.
It's definitely a great sensation...bouncing around I mean!
Like WilGrieve, I too was wondering what good a bouncy slime block would be, or an invisible one, but they're proving to be quite imaginative additions to the collection, if you ignore the jelly-like 'slime' connection.
Oh cripes I hadn't seen all the convo above till now.........and with more added Monty python references thrown in! Dam it
BULLJAW Ha, Chroma Punk, love it!
I agree on the "time issue" Glimm, and my human cloning machine is still in the concept stages. As it is i think it's a down right lie there's 24hrs in a day as it feels decidedly less in my little world! Pfft and of course you have to throw that thing called SLEEP on top of it all once in a while.........
Share the same humor.........DAM straight!
You being a great texture artist ( a very modest one at that)....... DAM straight, appreciate your compliments also my good man.
I'm afraid new stone for me was not something i wanted to spend too much time on hence its functional but it will get another look at later date maybe
So, I await your stone'y delights with anticipation and intrigue
"Take my good will! TAKE IT!" A famous quote from something I forgot, but I feel it applies perfectly to this situation
Just dropped by to see the updates to the last version since Ive been away from Minecraft for a while, and your pack just keeps getting better and better Glim! You really are a fantastic artist and very VERY modest. If I were you Id just ramble on and on about how truly amazing I was Best of luck in future updates
