Righto...been laboring away on finishing a variety of stained glass! Now I'm in the process of making taster vids to properly show things off. So...
GS v.14 : Taster Vid 1 is currently uploading to Youtube, so those of you who have subscribed to my channel there (can't imagine why you would want to do that though!), will probably get to see it before other visitors here who, like demure ghosts, flit through this ancient thread. It shows many, but by no means all, of the plants in the Podzol biome. I quickly threw up some kind of 'lodge' building to show off a few pieces of stained glass. There's much more to show, so I'm not sure how many taster vids there will be. I'm also a little rusty with my video editor, but I expect things to speed up towards the end of the week. Once I have my proof of work up on Youtube I can let you have the GS v14 update...assuming anyone still wants it!
Once this first video starts uploading I'll be off to bed, mainly because being 1080p it'll no doubt take an age to upload! I will edit the second vid tomorrow and post a proper link to the first in my thread here for all to see. At 1080p it's a little jittery, but I'm still trying to optimize how my extra RAM is being used between Fraps and MC.
I can hear the silent echoes of empty halls already...perhaps this will be my 'requiem' if no-one returns.
Just watched the vid, everything looks great. Really love what you've done with the plants, and the stained glass looks great. Reminds me of a glass fronted bookcase my grandmother used to have. Really can't wait to try it out for myself, and now that school is over for me, I might have some spare time to play (well, until I find a job).
Now, I know you probably aren't looking forward to this, considering you're still working on catching up to 1.7, but... it appears that Mojang have started previewing some of the new features of 1.8. Right now, they've noted that they're overhauling the Enchanting system, so the enchanting GUI may need some tweaking, and they're adding stone variants (so far, they've shown pink granite, both as a raw stone and a refined smooth variant (likely made similar to stone bricks, not sure)). I know that you'll want to focus on 1.7 until that's finished, but thought you might want to be made aware so you could at least mull over some possibilities in your free time. May even give you motivation for revamping the current stone textures, as you have noted that's on your "to do" list.
You just got one more subscriber on YouTube What color were those panes on the first floor of your rustic cabin? White? Maybe it was a bandwidth problem, but I liked how they gave the impression on distorting the view of what was on the other side. Like old glass panes I've seen where the glass has warped over time, making it thinner in spots and thicker in others.
Oi vey on 1.8. I think it would be great if they slowed down on the versioning. We don't want to burn out dedicated texture artists and mod developers that make Mojang's product that much better, without Mojang's paychecks. It'd be one thing if people paid a monthly subscription like warcraft. Although I probably shouldn't complain too much about that. I paid half price back when this was still in development and not one cent more since. And think of all I would have had to pay if Mojang followed the standard DLC model of major developers...
The new textures are looking awesome Glim. I am liking the stained glass a lot. The knots you put on the trees is really impressive as it looks like you need to be right next to them to tell that their not 3D.
The first in a series of videos (probably 3 or 4) showcases some of the many hundreds of new plant, wood, and stained glass textures in my new GS v.14 resource pack for Minecraft 1.7.x
It has been long in the making, as there is an enormous amount of CTM work involved in producing a huge range of variations for all those new MC 1.7 plant and tree textures. 'Packed Ice' and 'Podzol' have also been lovingly worked on and I've taken the opportunity to update many old textures in the flora department. Work on the new stained glass was left until last, mainly as I have a real interest in the medium. I've produced a basic varied set which is designed to be both useful and decorative. As it's a subject I'm interested in I hope to produce many variations when I have the time and after I've had a Christmas and New Year break. I mostly work on these textures late at night and into the wee small hours after a hard day's work and a busy day with my family, so I'm really looking forward to a break.
To all those who are still interested in my work...thanks for looking in and for any comments, they are much appreciated.
If there's anything you'd like to ask about the vid...ask away and I'll do my best to answer, as soon as I can I'll start to throw together a changelog, but I'm trying to avoid the tedious side of things until last!
Thanks for watching.

Just curios, but have you seen this mod? It seems like it could fit this really well. I guess I am asking if Ksheep could possibly make a patch for it?
It only adds a few blocks, the bulk of which are simply different colored versions of blocks.
If you cant thats fine, I can just rig up my own patch with existing textures (and not redistribute other then send them to you of course) however they would not be nearly as good as you or Ksheep.
I like that mega taiga. It's creates a very peaceful and slightly eerie atmosphere. And the torches aren't as green anymore! The new color is definitely better.

*clunk*
That was my jaw hitting the floor.
Those new plants and glass are oil-paintingly beautiful!
Every update your pack becomes more and more unbelievable...
GS v14 Taster Vid 2 is currently uploading to Youtube. Will display it here as usual when it's finished. Sorry I haven't had time to look at any comments, but when I get a chance I'll respond. Christmas preparations, texture pack editing, building MC set pieces and then making and editing video clips of them, etc., doesn't leave many spare minutes in a day! Off to get some kip now!
ps. The Fraps video clips were pretty smooth, but somewhere along the line as things got processed in Premiere Pro, judder also got exaggerated too. As it's too late now to seek a solution I've uploaded the video anyway in the hope it still gives a good enough impression of the work I've done. Any advice regarding Fraps 1080p clips and Premiere Pro settings for rendering, etc. would be much appreciated.
Hopefully see you tomorrow when the GS v14 taster vid has uploaded.
I just started watching video 2. Already I'm floored. That wood is beautiful. And all the new glass! I loved how versatile your old glass texture is, but these new ones are something else entirely!
And what is that immaculate red tile around 5:52? Stained clay? I want it in my life, right now.
WOW. The sunflowers are bringing tears of joy to my body.
It looks awesome Glim. I love that blue glass at the 6 minute mark. What block are you using for the red tile at the 6 minute mark, an alt for hardened clay? Nobody brings as much detail as you Glim using 64x.
The second in a series of videos (probably 3) showcases some of the many hundreds of new plant, wood, and stained glass textures in my new GS v.14 resource pack for Minecraft 1.7.x
First and foremost my apologies for the judder. I use Fraps, but in this case the clips that went into this Premiere Pro video were pretty smooth. Somewhere along the line Premiere Pro and my choice of settings for rendering seems to exacerbate the judder. If I wasn't still attempting to get this update out for Christmas 2013 I'd spend more time to find out what the problem is. I'm hoping you can at least get an impression of the scope of the work I've put into my latest MC GS resource pack update.

I will get back into looking through your comments soon and to thanking you for them, but my priority is to get the last taster video out, so there's still an inkling of a chance I can give you all a little Christmas present of an update before Dec 25th...that's if my wife or my chest infection don't kill me first!
Thanks for watching.

I'm sure he's still using Newglim, but since a number of the new textures are in new biomes, he may have moved temporarily to one of the new biomes to show off the new textures.
Thanks for all your comments above, folks. I will get some time I'm sure to look at them in more detail, when the update is out and Christmas is underway.
I'm just uploading the third and final GS v14 taster video, entitled 'More Than Just Pretty Coloured Glass!' 557 mins and counting! As per usual, when it's up on Youtube I'll post here with appropriate info.
In the meantime I better set about the changelog, which in my intermittent and chaotic way of working will be no easy task. I tweaked and changed lots, added lots of new stuff and didn't keep a proper ongoing record of it all!
This third vid shows off all the new stained glass in and around Newglim, so I'm still very much working there. ksheep was closest to the mark though on why the first two vids were set outside Newglim. Sometime in the future I might attempt to edit some of those little extracurricular projects back into the outskirts of Newglim. I've yet to journey far enough from Newglim to reach any of the new biomes, if indeed that's even possible. Is it not necessary to start a new world? I haven't really though about it actually.
I'm still hoping to update before Christmas, but you'll have my abject apologies if I get carried off by stampeding reindeer or avalanche or something. It will still be as soon as humanly possible and my chest infection is improving by the way, but son No. 2 is bad with a throat infection and everyone else seems to be succumbing to one virus or another!
Having to wiz off now to help my wife with festive preparations. Flip! Christmas just gets more hectic every year. Can't believe this will be my third Christmas in Minecraftland.

Righto...now working on hopefully the last video...and who knows, I might be saving the best 'till last!
is that the basic glass that you were talking about ??
REALLY REALLY
are you sure it's basic ??
that more then enough for me it's soo cool
I have a lot to do with that
Come on man that's not basic at all
you are really brilliant
