I love this, though, on a four gig computer with optifine, it still uses up the memory I have for Minecraft really quickly... other than that complaint, good job glimmar, and have a merry christmas... and just a random idea, you should make a christmas version of this resource pack
I highly doubt Glimmer has the time to make a Christmas variation of the pack, just based on how much work it would be. Even if he DID decide to do something like that, it would probably take quite some time, due to the amount of detail that Glim puts in to every texture, and it wouldn't be out by Christmas. There's far too much for Glim to do a it is, trying to keep up with new features and textures that Mojang adds, not to mention the various nifty doodads that MCPatcher adds.

Money is not the issue. Time is the issue. Which i'm sure is very scarce for glimm. Any little bit of free time he manages to find is already given to the pack so a christmas version is not in the equasion.
Just working on the basic set of stained glass now and trying hard to resist the urge to muck around with it too much. It's a refreshing change and good fun, as was editing the new flora, but as always I am conscious of how long the wait has been this time.
Whilst there is a great deal of new material in the next update (GS v14), I am aware of just how much there is I would like to have edited or added to the pack. However, the past couple of months have been scarily busy. Didn't get much done these past few days as I've been laid low with a cold and chest infection, same as my youngest, at the same time this weekend was taken up with ferrying my son home from uni for the festive hols.
I did finish up on the new plants with a last spurt of late night editing (which was probably the cause for me being 'run down', as the old expression goes).
Here's a couple of pics of the last plants - houstonia and tulips:
.....GS v14 Houstonia and Tulips!
...7 random ctm Houstonia plants and 7 random plants for each of the Tulip colors of red, orange, pink and white (so 28 versions in all):
Loving all the new flora, can't wait to see the new stained glass
Thanks, ksheep.
The stained glass is certainly good fun at the moment, unfortunately it's a bit like being in a candy/sweet shop...it could easily be too much of a good thing, leaving me spoiled for choice!
It's certainly nice to have MC 1.7.3, along with the latest MCPatcher, up and running and seemingly working ok. Well, at least it's still working in the stained glass manufacturing department. Hopefully now when released my update won't suffer from the glaring glitches found in 1.7.2. No doubt there will be others!
Glad you like, Hamode. Yes, all done with the flowers now, so just one basic set of stained glass to make and then I can update, especially now that 1.7.3 seems imminent (I'm currently using the pre-release with the latest MCPatcher).
I will do more varieties of stained glass after the GSv.14 is released, as the possibilities for this theme seem endless. My biggest problem is in choosing what's best, so the simplest way of tackling the problem is to just throw a lot of variations out and let people choose. I'm praying Mojang don't throw a load of new stuff out, then I can have a bit of fun with different stained glass effects...that's if I don't lose myself too far into space in 'Starbound' which my family kindly gave me for my birthday.

ohhh good news
Possible today??
something really good about you
"the updates"
so we can know that there is still someone working on this great pack
and btw you are (compared to the quality) really fast

Sadly, not today, I'm afraid, but I won't keep anyone waiting longer than necessary.
I go as fast as I can, but it has to fit round many other things too. Rest assured, Minecraft is just as fascinating for me as it was 3 1/2 years ago, so whenever I am able, I will always be working on my GS resource pack. Sometimes circumstances make the process of updating a little slower and sometimes a particular update requires a lot more work for an update to be considered ready. GS v14 and 1.7.x has been one of those times!
Money is not the issue. Time is the issue. Which i'm sure is very scarce for glimm. Any little bit of free time he manages to find is already given to the pack so a christmas version is not in the equasion.
I'm uh, not sure you caught this, but Droideka30 was jokingly referencing an item in the Harry Potter series that was used for the exact purpose of giving the heroes more time.
Hey Glim, just popping in to say I've been using your texture pack since the beginning, and though I've tried others, yours is my constant mainstay. The only other one that has gripped me is Broken Anachronism, which is quite compelling but makes my stone brick buildings look a little strange and glassy. Your work is impeccable and I'm stoked for v14, whenever it may come.
Was just wondering - the pack is trending toward eventually being fully 64x, yes? Have you by chance been working on a 64x grass block? Only reason I ask is your podzol looks so damn good.

Many thanks, WilGrieve. Glad you like the pack and thanks for saying.
I'm seriously working towards the update being released before Christmas, then I can relax over the Christmas hols/vacation...along with the Steam Christmas Sale! However, with all the new plants (many hundreds), old plant upgrade (many hundreds), podzol, new opaque ice block, etc, and now getting caught up with making something more out of the stained glass (my intention had been to just throw in something basic for now, but those glass textures are just so compelling!), means the really basic textures of grass, dirt, stone, etc. have just gone on the back-burner for now (again!), as I think to do them justice each one requires individual concentration. Rest assured they are very high in my 'todo' list though, especially now as nearly all the flora in GS is now 64x.
Your tex pack is so awesome now...all the animations lag me to a slow crawl in a busy town/city
Many thanks, mate!
So sorry it's lagging for you, Faust. Have you tried the 'Lite' version, which has most of the animations and randommobs removed? That version was my attempt to help in the frame-rate department, but it's not really a scientifically tested version, just a vain hope that it might help with some setups.
I suspect it's not just the animations though that cause lag. The ctm and extra biome specific colours can cause havoc. I just recently added in more RAM, which helped, but even with max RAM installed, when I tried adding in a few more biome colour effects on a few more blocks, things began to lag a little and my machine's got a pretty decent nVidia graphics card and intel i7 processor. I think there's also going to come a point where adding more ctm or mobs will suddenly tip over into 'lag-time'. I'll no doubt have to be a little more selective as to what goes in the pack in future. A lot more ctm is in the next update, but so far it's not effected frame-rate in any discernible way for me.
If Mojang could just freeze for a year and not throw out any new textures, then perhaps I might get the chance to breath some new life into the old 32x pack.
***************************
Thanks for popping in you two...it gets very lonely sometimes in my MC texture artist's garret.
One thing that might help people who are having lag issues might be to up the amount of Ram allocated to minecraft when it is open. By default it only uses 1gb of a systems ram regardless of how much you have. You can do this by opening the launcher, go under edit profile in the bottom left corner, check the box at the bottom that says JVM Arguments and then change the number in the line next to it to the amount of ram you want to use. You have to do that every time there is an official update and sometimes when there is a launcher update. Hope that helps.
It can also help to close certain ram heavy programs such as Skype while playing.
I meant that as the ultimate compliment actually. I have the RAM upped and such...but I don't think the makers of MC could have known what happens when awesome builders use so many of the textures that animate. I'm talkin a major city full of everything you animated. I have never seen anything like this.
PS...it never lags otherwise. I think it was the place I went too LOL!oh wait...remember that old video from early beta (I think) where TnT in abundance caused servers to crash...yeah...that

Ah, yes! I always forget to change that, I really should put something about it in my install section. Thanks for reminding me, rosestorm.

I know what you mean, mate. It's the same in my old dock area where I've done most of my trials and tests with redstone stuff, animations, minecarts, etc. If my game has ever slightly lagged or flickered, it's always been in that area. The so called 'Redstone Update' was my first experience of some lag...up until that point it seemed as if I was free to bung whatever I wanted into the pack. Now I'm a little more aware of the limitations.
Compliment gratefully received, Faust, and a compliment indeed from someone who was animating stuff around these forums long before most...thankyou!
Are you close to any preview images of the stained glass you mentioned? Are all the plants sans the grass done now?
Haha! We must have posted at the same time!
Yes, all plants are finished now, excepting a couple of the old saplings and the lilypads. If I get a chance I'll try and upload some pics of the glass I've done so far. It's fascinating stuff, therefore try as I might to just make a quick set of plain textures, I succumbed to the temptation to try out some ideas and they proved to be rather fiddly to get the look just right...and I'm not even talking about ctm! Apologies to all!
