I just wanted to say to Glimmer that this is the only 32x32 I use, and the one of two HD packs I use. I usually stick to 16x16 but this pack was just so amazingly beautiful I had to go for it. Thank you for taking the time out of your probably busy life to make such a wonderful piece of art. Thank you!
I very much appreciate that comment, it's both understanding and kind and very encouraging. I seem to have less and less time these days, particularly on the run up to the Holiday season, so I constantly feel like I'm not doing enough justice to the theme. So again, I'm grateful for your words! :smile.gif:

You're welcome Glimmer, and as long as you keep working, even if it's only a little here and there than you are doing great. Please do you best and keep up the wonderful work Glimmer. :smile.gif:
Please note, since Notch's latest update (v1.2.6) custom water and lava are broken once more! After downloading the Minecraft update, you will need to run xau's MC Patcher again to remove all the graphical glitches off brick, gold, pumpkin, etc. and DE-SELECT custom 'water' and 'lava' or you'll get the 'black screen of death'. If anything goes wrong, just delete your Minecraft 'bin' folder (NOT your 'save' folder), launch the game and let it download a fresh copy of minecraft, then go through the process of applying the MC Patcher program (same instructions on page 1 of this thread still apply), being careful to de-select the custom water and lava options. I'm sure xau will release an update soon!
Handy tip: I've taken to saving a copy of my Minecraft 'bin' folder now (as most of the recent updates have been for multi-player, which doesn't interest me as much as single play) then, when there's an update, I swap out the updated 'bin' folder, put my old working one (with all my favourite mods) in it's place and everything is back to normal. Now when you run the game don't forget to disable your password in the launch screen, when it fails to download just select to play 'offline'.
Then when all the modders and xua's patcher have caught up, I just delete my favourite (working) bin folder, download minecraft afresh and all the updated mods, and then carry on from there (saving a backup of the new bin folder). Then it's not quite so traumatic, if all you're wanting to do is carry on building with your favourite setup.
I do look at any new updates though, so that I can try and offer help to those unfamiliar with all the changes.
Don't forget, I always try to put current advice up at the top of the thread on page 1 and that's where all the instructions for patching and installing reside!
Don't get too frustrated, you do get used to it, and as mentioned above, there are quick easy work-arounds.
Sorry guys, bad news. I ran into some things that I needed to do. The tools should be out sometime this weekend, not today (more than likely). I'll try to finish it as soon as possible, however.
When will you bring back that beautiful water color you have in your screen shots? I'm tired of using the default blue, it's so....ugly.
Sorry, it's always been there in the texture pack, but it's dependent on xau's MC Patcher programme being up-to-date to make it work. Briefly for one day it was fixed, it was that is, until Notch updated Minecraft to v1.2.6, where upon it broke yet again (this is the same for all HD texture packs!). I've taken to using an older version of Minecraft (v1.2.3_04) where everything was fixed (see my handy tip in the thread above), and when xau and my favourite modders update their mods, I then download the latest Minecraft version. It's frustrating, but there are work arounds, as just described. :sad.gif:

Same here, and I'm also trying for a little update tomorrow before I'm away for a while. I'll do my best. Thanks, Tlos. :smile.gif:
I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Someone has found a way to utilize the entire kz.png file. I know you were working on your steampunk art file awhile back and i thought you might be interested in following the thread. More gadgets for you! Yay more work right? XD
You may have seen the thread but in case you didn't here is a link: Banners instead of Art

Telgar, many thanks for that, I appreciate the link and going to the trouble to let me know. I'm hoping to do a little update tomorrow involving my new pumpkinblur texture. You might be interested in that. I'm also linking your excellent atmospheric underwater sound file and dougbenham's 'breathing apparatus' mod (although currently not working with the latest version of MC 1.2.6) to it, for folks to get the full benefit.
Once again many thanks, and nice to have you drop by again! :smile.gif:
Lol! Yeh! More work! Aaaaargh [runs away screaming]

ps. Like that sig. of yours!
Your very welcome. No trouble at all. I forgot all about the underwater sound file! Then today when i wanted to link your thread i saw it posted on the front page. Very nice. I'm glad you had a use for it. I have to say your thread has grown to epic proportions. There is a lot of cool stuff in the thread too. I think you have done a fantastic job on Glimmar's Steampunk. It is my favorite 32x32 texture pack. Hell of a job amigo. =)
Hello Glimmar, I love how your texture pack is turning out. Anyway on with the post, I designed some things using the cubekingdom (sadly not with your texture pack, but hey) you posted a link to on your page. These are some of the things I have done so far..
Market Place
Bakery and Mill
Lumber Mill
I will probably be posting more, only when I get round to it though.
Awesome little plans there, Mogogog. Look forward to seeing more, especially if you use my texture pack. ;p
Well, before I'm off for a while, just thought I'd give you the chance to try out the first version of the pumpkin diving helm internal view (pumpkinblur.png) I've been working on. It's still a work in progress (no glass texture, etc), but it's complete enough to give the effect of wearing an antique brass helmet... it still needs steampunkifying yet though. Standard pack: http://www.mediafire.com/file/mpfjolkm651lt11/Glimmar%27s%20Steampunk%2032x32%20v1.5.zip
Instructions for installation are, as usual, on page 1 of this thread.
I strongly urge you to try out dougbenham's 'breathing apparatus' mod along with my helm: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=76015#BreathingApparatus (unfortunately at time of going to press this won't work with Minecraft v1.2.6. I am currently using it still with Minecraft v1.2.3_04). However, when this is installed and you wear my pumpkin diving helmet, you can breath indefinately under water! Make sure you have a good supply of pumpkin lanterns, because you'll need them down there in the murky depths (pumpkin lanterns can be used underwater and easily moved around). When the mod is updated nothing will be stopping you from building those deep sea bases and exploring watery caves and generally pretending to be Captain Nemo! :biggrin.gif:
Why not try out Telgar's underwater sound file while you're down in the deep...perhaps make a sound loop and have it running in the background for a really immersive (haha!) experience! :biggrin.gif: Available here:
Underwater_Sounds.ogg
Sadly, I had to tone down the murky green of the underwater texture, or it was too difficult to see, but you don't really notice this unless you take off the helmet.
For the curious amongst you, here's a couple of pics of the rough model I made from a little plastic teapot that enabled me to work out sources of light and shade in the diving helm pumpkinblur texture. I'd love someone to prove me wrong, but I challenge you to find a good pic of an internal view, looking out of an antique (all brass and copper) diving helm. I spent hours/days searching on line and found nothing that I could really use! :biggrin.gif:
I've also included Heftig's excellent gui contribution in the pack, in lieu of my own for now. See if you can spot the difference and marvel at his ingenuity! Thanks Heftig. :smile.gif:
Why don't you check out his excellent texture pack too: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=87809. Well worth a visit and a Minecraftian with a similar view on pushing back the visual possibilities of what can be done with vanilla Minecraft. Tiger4Ruler has made a higher resolution version of Heftig's gui offering, which I'll place at the top of the thread for everyone to use as an alternative.
Look out for Tlos's excellent little item offerings which are popping up all over this thread (listed on page 1), again in lieu of my own items, which as you know are none existent yet. Tiger4Ruler has been assembling these items onto a borrowed item sheet (not mine I hasten to add) for those not familiar with pasting png images, but at present you'll still need to drop this into my texture pack yourselves. I'm sure there will be plenty of advice given if this still sounds confusing. Welcome to the world of Minecraft textures! :smile.gif:
I had hoped to have completed some grass and foliage biome triangles, but didn't get the chance to finish them, sorry. These are quite good fun to play with really. Perhaps they'll be ready for the next update.
Could I reccomend you try MrMessiah's 'Ambient Occlusion' mod: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=55700. One of those graphical enhancements that will take your breath away if you successfully get it running, took me a few goes to understand how to install, but the world of Minecraft just suddenly became beautiful and rich and I couldn't play the game now without it. MrMessiahs other mods are also well worth trying too - BetterGrass and SimpleMap.
Don't forget to back-up your Minecraft 'bin' folder before attempting any of the above mods, I am not going to be held responsible for breaking your worlds, etc!
Nice job on the helm Glimmar! It looks amazing. I love the dials you put inside and out. The colors and the style are great. Very atmospheric indeed. Well done. Using a teapot for reference made me smile! Englishmen and Englishgals really love their tea! Now i have this silly vision of you swimming around your harbor with a teapot on your head. Saying something like, "Cherrio Mate!", to the fishes as they pass by. Gotta love it! =D
If a teapot can be a diving helm. Then a diving helm can be a teapot. At least in my crazy world! Now be a dear, grab that diving helm teapot and make us a spot of tea. Cheers! =D

Ha ha! Teapot Helm. Now there's a thought!! :biggrin.gif: Sounds very 'Alice in Wonderland'. There's another thought. Why hasn't anybody done something along those lines for a theme?
Thanks Telgar.
PS. Can't get that image out of my head now, because my pumpkin looks slightly 'teapottish'. Lol! :biggrin.gif:

Ha ha ha! That's classic. Awesomely funny, mate! We should market that teapot, we'd make a killing around the coast! Hilarious. Now I know what essential piece of kit is missing from Minecraft...a teapot!!:Diamond:
Woo! An update! Downloading now, keep up the good work!
Thanks, User. Have fun.:smile.gif: Hope I've got all the files in the right place! Gets very complicated updating everything, especially just after Notch goes on a rampage!! :biggrin.gif:
And, could you edit the items.png? I want a more in-depth steam punk feel.
All will be done, as and when I get time! Time and real life are the limiting factors here, not enthusiasm or ideas. Immersive steampunk experience is definately what I'm after, the same as you! Keep checking back often!
Thanks for your interest! :smile.gif:
