Glad to hear about the plants. The flowers, shrubs, and grass need your 64-bit love.
It's frustrating at the moment, because I love making plant textures, but real life is impinging greatly from every direction. It would be nice to think that all the greenery would be upscaled by the next update, but at this rate it might only be the new stuff and what was done before the pressure set it. Aaargh!
Those reeds look awesome, I love the caps on top. The vines are a very much needed upgrade as well, thy've been lookin a little old on those fancy jungle trees! And is that some mossy cobble I see there?

Glad you like.
All the plants need a good polish, but it kind of means starting from scratch rather than just refining what's already there at 32x. All the new plants Mojang have thrown in, which I assume will all have some secondary purpose down the line, besides just looking pretty, will be adding to the confusion. I still want to have lots of grass and fern variety...it just might not all come at update time.
The mossy cobble was an early edit, but seeing the new 1.7 mossy boulders has made me re-think how I should make it more effective. As mentioned before, I wish Mojang had gone for a variety of small ruined cottages/huts rather than the boulder shape. Still...got to work with the palette we're given, and the next MC update is certainly quite the looker.
Well it will certainly be a challenge to make them match the boulder setting in the terrain gen while still flowing with the regular cobble, Im interested to see what you come up with. Honestly I would think keeping it as just a mossy cobble would be totally fine, even with the way it looks in the terrain gen, but you are the boss Ill be eagerly awaiting your next release

I'll probably just go with the ctm cobble the way it is now and hope that adding a lot more moss to a greater variety of ctm'd mossy cobble will do the trick.
This all looks fantastic, really great to come back and see it ^^. Still love using this pack, and dont plan on changing that.
Hiya, Hunter.
It's moving a bit slow at the moment with RL work and such, but Minecraft, GS and Newglim are my first place to go to relax, even with all the Humble Bundle distractions of late! So whether it's slow or fast, I'm always working on something. Sadly I'm just not as fast, even at my fastest, to compete with the speed artists out there, nor can my tired old brain keep up with all the whizzo changes Mojang and MCPatcher throw out.
Much appreciate your visit, mate.

ps. for some reason my MC forum email notifications aren't getting through...again! They'd been ok for a couple of weeks, then all of a sudden...nothing! Perhaps it's when I get too click happy with following other threads. Anyways, the downside is I'm having to manually do the rounds of all the threads I'm interested in. The upside is that my e-box is a lot easier to handle in a morning.
Yeah, I just lost "contact" as well. I don't think it's you, I think there's something off in the system. Hopefully we'll get them back soon. :/
I can recommend going to your profile, go to "Topics", click "Find content" and bookmark that page. Then you'll have the topics/threads you've been active in listed by most recent activity, so you don't have to check the latest page of each topic individually to see if it's been posted to.
It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one, saves on fueling my paranoia.
Thanks, mate, I'll try that suggestion.
Here's a couple of links that might also be of interest:
I'm not sure if there are any other threads. It would be nice to know if admin are getting nearer to sorting it and if it's possible to give some feedback if they think it's sorted, when it clearly isn't for me and you.
wondering if any one has some imput on what to do with the upperlevels of the Sinclar Deulux
Oooo! It's so long ago since I played part way through the first Bioshock game I can't remember the names of significant places. I wish I could help there. Nonetheless that space is looking pretty mind-boggling considering the amount of water being held back.
Would it be permitted to use this texture pack in a Minecraft Animation series? I just want to make sure that this applies to the Legal section as well.
I think I PM'd you about this, PicklezMreh.
Just in case I didn't, the answer is yes, so long as you credit me and have a link back here and don't offer the pack as a download.
I look forward to seeing what you make of it...no pressure though!
It Runs my minecraft With 2 fps When i Apply This ResorcePack .. But Anyway its amazing However i cant use it :/ i will wait till x32 version of this ResorcePack is Released.
It's all the anims, ctm and extra mobs. I'm working on an optimized version of the hybrid pack that has all the animations, barring water, lava, portal and one or two 2-frame animations, removed from the pack. If this doesn't have any effect, then I'll go further with it and remove randomobs and then as much ctm as possible without utterly spoiling some things.
Much further down the line I still intend catching up with the 32x version. With all the major changes happening from 1.5 through to 1.7, there just hasn't been time to even take a look.
Just downloaded the new pack for 1.6.2. Awesome work Glimmar. One thing I did note however is the font in the UI is the default font. Just wondering if I missed something.
Glad you like and many thanks!
As regards the font, it's fine for me, but that's no comfort for you, sorry! I can say it's not because I've changed anything or done something I shouldn't...at least that I'm aware. However, it has been discussed on the MCPatcher thread. I didn't have time to properly understand the issue that some were having, but there was plenty of info as to why it was happening. You might have to dig back a fair few pages now though.
rapture is the city from the first 2 bioshock games. Not sure how much buil time there is in it as i only work on it when i feel like it. not much has been added since i uploaded part 2
That sounds a bit like how I work on my city of Newglim.
I imagine you'll have got distracted by the third installment of bioshock, so you have a good excuse.

I love stretching the limits of what can be done with minecraft as it's such an awesome gaming/architectural phenomenon. I guess I lied about the "definately not starting another..." as I'd love to see if it was possible to do textures on an "Egyptian" or "Aztec" theme. However...on with the Steampunk for now.
(My bold)
I was traveling back in time in my Chronoport, though the oldest sections of your thread, and came across this from three years ago!
Whatever happened?
I think everyone would like to see another "Glimmar's ____" eventually!
(I myself can hardly stand staying with one project for a few days consecutively, and I'm in awe of your staying power )
Everything is looking great Glim. I eagerly await the next release.
Glad the little I've done meets with approval. If only I had more time.
I've re-coloured the water too now in anticipation of messing with the new biome colours. It's now edging slightly more to the green/blue spectrum. The green lantern torches may be moved more towards a greeny amber colour, but I need to experiment further at the same time with an up-scaled texture. Meanwhile, not much is getting done on the new plants as I'm only able to very briefly sit in front of my PC, things being so hectic at the mo'
Oh...as there's a new ice block I was thinking about upgrading my ancient 32x texture, if time permits. Not sure what else will get done at the moment.

Lol! I bet I wrote a lot of drivel back then!
Sometimes I think I must be mad staying with the same theme, but making textures yourself you'll know how much time it takes to finish something, and I'm far from finished with Glimmar's Steampunk. I stand in awe of anyone starting a new texture pack these days. Back in 2010 it seemed like a task that could be accomplished in a couple of weeks of free time. These days the task seems insurmountable, unless you're able to work on texturing full time and almost make a business of it, as some have done.
I think the nature of Minecraft, with it's redstone, minecarts, pistons, tools and other paraphernalia, makes it perfect for steampunk. Trying to fit everything to an Aztec or Egyptian theme, although not impossible...Romecraft (another favorite pack) is proof of that, it would still require a huge commitment of imagination and time, which I don't have these days. I dare say I'd just be competing with other better and more complete packs. I'd probably still give it a go, if it wasn't for the infinite possibilities of ctm and the vast amount of time it takes to make worthy animations and guis, which users would demand. Still...a futuristic sci-fantasy version of Glimmar's Steampunk in an Aztec/Egyptian rather than Victorian style, using elements of steampunk, where I could re-use existing textures...might be interesting.
Also my city of Newglim, which exists as an ongoing therapeutic project for me, keeps me focused on all things industrially steampunk. I just think mega projects, flying machines, ships and the like all fit the steampunk genre so well.
I dread to think what other ideas I had back then!
I would love to see something decent Aztec themed. I love Steelfeathers' "Jungle Ruins", which she unfortunately disbanded. That was possibly my all time favourite pack. I love steampunk, but the Indiana Jones-y feel of "Jungle Ruins". Man. I miss that pack.
Yes, I loved the theme and ideas behind that pack...it impressed me back then and I was among the first to say so and lend some encouragement. Steelfeathers never disappointed from that time on!
Like Steampunk, as a theme, 'Lost Valley' was perfect for exploiting Minecraft's sandbox/survival style and was a refreshing change from seemingly endless Medieval themes. I wasn't really aware it had been officially disbanded though, mostly because I just lack the time to peruse all the texture pack pages on a regular basis. To be really honest, when I do look around, I get quite depressed at my own lack of effort and progress. So I keep tinkering away in the background with my head down, as a good mad scientist should.
When you consider we now have villages, jungle ruins and dungeons and the like to explore, 'Lost Valley' would have come into it's own as the most complimentary theme pack for Minecraft.
Needless to say, I've always liked the cross over between history, science and fantasy and just wish I had the time to exploit all those wonderful Egyptian and Aztec designs in my pack in some way. However, I also do my best, believe it or not, to make Glimmar's Steampunk as wide open in use as possible, with many blocks still having multiple uses...not just tied exclusively and overtly to Victorian Steampunk. Being able to build on a vast and epic scale is what makes Minecraft fascinating to me still and the sci-fi theme and period industrial age that this pack draws inspiration from makes such things possible. Well I can only speak for myself, but if others see that too and get some use out of it, then it's an extra bonus.
I've thought about this, and what I try to do in relation to this problem is to generally give each biome a 'theme,' something that I can base the blocks off of and will look good and work well. I think that this also contributes to a diversity of possible building styles using the pack.
I agree with everything said here! I too loved Lost Valley, but I understand why you're sticking to the one, remarkable pack Glimmar. If you did ever go crazy and start a Egyption Steampunk pack (my god) then perhaps do it in 16x. I've found from experience It's much faster, but not as fulfilling as 32x or 64x.

That's a very good angle to take, zamaj. Jungle biomes would have an Aztec feel to blocks, whereas deserts would have Egyptian styling and arctic climes might have Viking/Skyrim themes. Oh Crikey! Talk about unlimited possibilities and vast amounts of work.
I remember when biome specific textures were first introduced, I suggested in the MCPatcher thread (rather tongue in cheek I hasten to add) that it would be possible to have a John Smith, Doku and other favorite texture packs, all together in one world! However, I still haven't got round to using biome specific textures or mob skins yet, but it's another example of how much free reign MCPatcher gives us to manipulate the Minecraft world. There's a massive amount of features I feel way behind on, like CIT and all the biome colouring possibilties (with a lot more to come in 1.7), hence why I experience a feeling of never being able to catch up when I check in on the MCPatcher thread.
I wonder if someone is working on a 'super' resource pack, comprised of completely different themes for every single biome? I imagine it would only be possible as a group effort and would probably only work at 16x due to extreme lag loading so many textures at once. Might be an interesting project for someone.

Heck, just thinking about this, there exists the possibility that a 'civilisation' or 'eras' theme pack could exist in someway using biome specific textures. Perhaps someone could make an adventure map where you could 'journey through the ages' on a minecart theme ride, recreating scenes of great human endeavour including awe-inspiring wonders of the world! Someone will do it, or already has done it, I'm sure! Gives me a headache though just thinking about it!

Is this floating in space or on the ground. It looks pretty huge.
I look forward to seeing what you build on the inside. Something that big is going to need some pretty big supports and structural work.
Floating in space. BTW, the diameter is 200 blocks.
I've started work on the inside, but I've got a long ways to go..
Much of the final thing may end up being empty. I doubt I'll be able to fill all 4.18876*10^6 blocks.
