By searching a little i think the reason for the problem might be that curse haven't allowed .mcmeta files as a valid file yet,
making curse think there's something wrong with the resource pack
I cant wait to see what you do with all of this stuff Have you ever thought of using the sponge block for some of your alternate stuff, since sponges arent used for anything anyway?
If Curse would get there act together and find out why their automated upload manager won't accept my pack you'd get my latest update pronto!
Sponge is already textured with a nice cast iron filigree design, but you need to be in creative to access it of course.
It was the case that .mcmeta files caused problems, but way before I tried to upload my pack, they issued a statement on their upload manager page, to say it was fixed and mcmeta was perfectly acceptable in all new resource packs. It would have to be really, if you think about it, or all 1.6.2 packs currently updated on the Curse Texture/Resource pack pages wouldn't be there, and there are quite a few. All except mine of course!
Well, I still haven't heard from Curse, so I'll give it until this evening (UK time) and then I'll just have to put it up on MediaFire. I've just sent another polite query, but I'm really frustrated that this has taken so long to be resolved over at Curse, as the Curse Texture and Modding sections were something I'd got behind from the start and wanted to see prove really popular, but having to wait days to get an update approved isn't making it a very viable proposition at the moment!

If you've been following my posts above you'll be aware of the problems I've been having with getting my pack uploaded to my Curse download page. This problem is now in the hands of the devs over there and so far they still haven't been able to upload it for me.
So I'm falling back to MediaFire temporarily, while I'm away. When I get back, I hope Curse will have a solution to my upload woes.
Well...for better or worse, here's my latest update...at last!
Important: By downloading and/or using my 'Glimmar's Steampunk' texture/resource pack or my 'GS Alts Collection' support pack, you agree and validate my licence and conditions of use, as laid out in my 'Legal' section in my OP on page 1 of this thread. I also view 'direct linking' or re-distribution as piracy. Direct links to my downloads are strictly forbidden. .. link to my thread here instead. My visitors are more important to me than my download figures!
Please note: This download is not a 'resource pack' that can just be selected ingame. It is a vast collection of original alternative textures which you can dip into to customise your personal version of my pack and is only to be used in Glimmar's Steampunk. Like the rest of my work it is not to be used in other public texture/resource packs and is subject to my 'legal' conditions as laid out in the 'legal' section on the first page (the OP) of this thread.
Click the spoiler to see what's in the GS Alts Collection support pack:
Amongst other things there are alternative:
boats and 'paddlesteamer' mod skins.
32 and 64x minecarts.
'airship' mod skins.
mob and steampunk character skins.
armor
clocks
skies
paintings
sets of stained clay
zombie horses
animated redstone dust
pumpkins
fire and lava
and hundreds of miscellaneous textures.
Plus many other little surprises.
In most cases, since MC 1.5, individual alternative textures can just be dropped into the appropriate folder in the resource pack, but you will in most cases need to check and change the file name as all texture names were changed in the MC 1.6 update. Some animated textures have accompanying '.mcmeta' or '.properties' files and if you wish to change these for an alt, you may need to edit or delete these or Minecraft/MCPatcher might get a little confused. Some alternate textures like the steampunk clock or lo-res Better Skies will work fine with the '.mcmeta' and '.properties' files that are in the pack...it's just a case of dropping the alt texture in the right place (again, just make sure the alt file name is the same as the one you are replacing). Please check the 'Changelogs' in the pack or ask in my thread if something is still not clear.
MCPatcher Important: To run 'Glimmar's Steampunk Hybrid 64/32x v.12' as intended, you require the latest MC 1.6 version of 'MC Patcher' MC Patcher link.
MC Patcher is recommended and required for activating special 'connected texture' features, hundreds of extra random blocks and plants, colour effects, better skies, custom animations, extra mobs and villagers and much more besides. The latest installation instructions are in my OP on the first page of this thread and in the new resource/texture pack in the 'GS v.12 Readme_Legal_Credits' file. Please read before seeking help.
The latest 'GS Changelog' file, including advice and instructions regarding what's new and how to replace with alts to help with lag, etc. is also in the new resource/texture pack. Please read before seeking help.
Please see previous pages or OP for pics and videos relating to GS v.12
Well, I hope the above is of interest. I've been working on this on and off since April, using up all my free time and getting very tired in the process. I'm now looking forward to a nice remote adventure somewhere.
In my absence, I would be grateful if other more knowledgable users would kindly help those having difficulty with the new launcher system, until I return. I will be about for the next day or two, but then I'm unsure when I will next be able to pop in. My travels really will be to destinations unkown.:)
Please note: my new cloudy skies are copyright and protected, as is everything else like the new horses and steampunk clock, etc. If anyone was thinking of using them in their own public pack, mixpack, etc. please don't...any such use will be reported. If you value my work, please help by looking out for it...thanks!

Lol! That last one in the list would include me then...I'd better turn my pace maker to "steady as she goes" then!
Mind you I feel like doin' a 'happy dance' now it's finally out and I can think about a break. Thanks, mate.
I've missed your fancy quartz... I've got a house made entirely of it on a SP world somewhere.
Ah! Many thanks, Good Sir. I've time to explore what everyone else has been doing now and especially 'Broken Anachronism'...before I disappear on my adventures.
I have to say, 13th, that glass of yours has already completely blown me away by how effective it is, and the way in which you've made it compliment your theme so well. I'm more persuaded by what you've done with it than anything else I've seen. I shall have to look deeper into this 'Better Glass' malarkey, even if it's only as an alt and hope that Mojang make stained glass sometime and kahr allows us to Better Glass it...then I can have structural as well as 'real' glass.

Thanks for the encouragement...oh...and welcome to the forum.
I hope you've noticed it's finally been updated...see above.

Yep, betterglass is surprisingly easy to work with as long as you take into account the fact that you can only use one ctm method on it. You can't matchtiles/matchblocks, you just have to pick one ctm method and stick to that. Hence the reason for slight overlapping on the frames of my glass (it's hard to see since the glass is transparent luckily) it's because the frame uses vertical ctm, and the glass uses random. I couldn't matchtiles the vertical ctm tiles to randomize them.
Oh yes, I can't wait to check it out— but I may as well write my thanks here while it downloads. I'm really excited for this update, it is, in my opinion, one of the best in while; for your pack and for Minecraft. I can appreciate all of the hard work that went into such a massive update, and I thank you for it. I am especially thankful because yesterday a very sad thing happened. Derivation was officially discontinued, so now yours is the only surviving pack from my "original favorites." (a.k.a. the textures packs that I would actually use.) So now Glimmar's Steampunk is the only option for me.
Wow, I love the new blocks! Im gonna have fun mixing and matching with all these options! I have a question tho, if I wanted to make all of the clay blocks have a ctm similar to the stone slabs (Glimmarmarblecolumn) how would I go about doing that?
edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. When Im all done, I'll show you my results
Hi Glimmar!
I figured out how to make those gold pillars I was talking to you about. I used your carved stone texture and Misa's quartzblock lines texture to get it to look how I wanted it. What do you think?
ok i got the 1.6.2 glimmars steampunk and the newest mc patch when i patch the resource pach with mc patcher then open minecraft, minecraft will crash ne advice????
I was right! I guessed that might be the case.
