Hey Glimmar, loving the pack. It's actually the first texture pack to inspire me to start building up my own custom map.
There is a strange discrepancy I wanted to ask about though. For the stone bricks have a cracked and a mossy variant, but the slab and stair models do not. I understand this is nitpicking, it just popped out when I was making a bridge and wanted to alternate some regular stone brick with mossy. The slabs and steps I was using to add curvatures to it kinda didn't mesh with the moss.
Anyway, I was just wondering if it was possible that you might be adding those at some point. Obviously you have other stuff to do first, and this is just a petty request.
Here are the last few pics to show off coal and hay blocks. You might want to click on the pics to get a better look at the new textures. Also the new ctm'd gold mosaic block I want to use as one of the hardened stained clay blocks (yellow):
New 'blockCoal.png' - Decided on what I think is an really useful riveted iron 'box girder' texture for making bridges, supports, etc, which provides an alternative constructional element to the black cast iron block (they work very well together and the iron block is high on my list to upgrade to an improved 64x version). This has been randomly ctm'd at 64x, but I've still just a few more variations to throw in to make it work well. If I had more free time then I probably would have made some alt more obviously coal related structural textures, but I don't think you'd have appreciated me wasting even more time.
I love building bridges! I could feel the frustration ebbing away as I built this.
There's a new menu 'options_background' texture based on my now favorite 'coal_block.png' box girder texture.
Column of gold mosaic yellow stained clay blocks. Very heavily randomised ctm'd.
New 'hay_block' - Tried various structural designs for the hay block, of which failed but possibly useful attempts, are in the GS Alts Collection). Decided I was wasting too much time on this and went for a simple hay block design and was pleased with the result. Those new horses thanked me for it! If I get the chance I'll have another go at exploiting the unique properties of a vertical and horizontal block that's not wood or quartz.
Hay bale roof.
New 64x wool block. Old version and alt in the 'GS Alts Collection' but I also want to make a more obviously 'fabric' based texture set sometime.
Thanks for your thoughts regarding what to put in as the default hardened stained clay...and the kind comments of support, which is very much appreciated (they really deserve better individual thanks than this).
Well, I've decided to try and cram in my extra ctm blocks (stone heads, marble frieze, rune stones) along with a new heavily ctm'd gold mosaic block (minus the undeveloped original crude designs) and a selection of colored marble, smooth, brick etc. for as varied and useful a collection as possible. This will be in an easy to hoist out folder for those who want just one design made up of different colors. If this clay ctm folder is removed from the MC Patcher folder, then all the stained clay will revert back to a none ctm selection of marble, smooth and stained bricks. You're then free to pick and choose other types from the 'GS Alts Collection' download to get what works for your builds.
Thanks for your continued support, folks. I will upload as soon as it's ready and I can properly test, check things and update the OP, etc, etc.
Liking the new stuff Glimmar, can't wait to see it in action.

I've been using this texture pack for a while now, and I have to say that I love it. It's great, and I've started my first ever big Minecraft build using it. I've got some pictures, just in case someone cares.
-snip-
As you can see I've had a lot of fun with your texture pack, and I can't wait for the next update. Well done for all the hard work.

First of all, welcome to the forum, Faguette (unless you're just returning). Glad you like the pack and it shows in the way you've sympathetically used the various building elements.
That's a wonderful set of builds indeed with an excellent feel for how building materials work with each other...I love it! Thanks very much for sharing...seeing how others use my building blocks is fascinating for me!

As regards the stone steps. Mojang only use the smooth stone brick texture fro the stone steps, it's a shame that vanilla minecraft doesn't have cracked and mossy varieties of the stone brick steps. If I get the chance to look at how the steps could be made to have a little more variety, then I'll do something, but I don't think it's possible to have distinctly 'cracked' and 'mossy' varieties, even with MC Patcher. I think it would require a separate mod for that, which I wouldn't be able to support.

Understood. I wasn't sure how that stuff worked, I just assumed there were templates or something. I know you were able to add extra blocks(at least, I think that's what your main post says), so I thought maybe the stairs and slabs were similar. Clearly, I know nothing about this stuff, so forgive my ignorance.

Nothing to forgive, mate...I probably only know a tiny little bit more than you. I still scratch my head at what others can do. I'm way behind.
I got called away at the start of the weekend and lost any free time I had. Plus, putting the 'GS Alt Collection' download together and making sure my OP here and my Curse page are updated along with updated readme files, installation instructions, changelogs, etc. all gets a little complicated for me when I'm stop/starting all the time.
So, I'm still playing on 1.5.2. I tried out 1.6.2 but they changed the texture pack folder to resource pack, and none of the texture packs I have tried work, including yours. They don't even show up in the menu. Plus there doesn't seem to be a .jar file anymore to access so I can mod the game....
Currently having great problems trying to upload my GS v.12 pack to Curse. As when I first uploaded back last year. The upload fails with a warning that there are harmful files in the zip pack, but nothing more useful than that! You'd think by now a helpful list of what they consider harmful hidden files might be and how to remove them would be useful. As far as I'm concerned I've been careful and only .txt, .mcmeta and .png files are in there.
I've issued a request for help, but this level of having to search through the pack for hidden .dat .bat files and Tom, **** and Harry who might have crept in, makes the whole process incredibly annoying after months of work.
If I don't get a reply back quick enough, I won't be able to get it out in time before I have to leave on my adventures. I'll just pull the pack off Curse altogther and try mediafire with adf.ly instead I think, I can do without the hassle!
Anyways, it's 2.00am and I've struggled long enough on this tonight, I've the kids to get up in the morning and lunches to prepare yet...Sorry for the whinge and sorry you didn't get the update this weekend!

No worries man, real life comes first. I'm still having a hell of a time figuring out 1.6.2. It's like they changed everything on us, and I have a bad habit of not reading up on things before just trying to do them. XD

I think we could all have done without such major changes, especially .mcmeta files...except I do like a lot of the new textures, etc...but the launcher is just a disaster of confusion until you get used to it, and even then it's still a confusing process when you come to update again, as it's front end is not user friendly, and if you're like me, after a week or two it's too easy to forget how you did things before when you come to update again.
It should be a lot easier for you though, once I get my GS v12 for MC 1.6.2 up on Curse, as I'll be able to give instructions in my OP, etc. It's all ready to go, if Curse would just make things a little easier to upload, or at least provide a better knowledge base of what things to look for in my pack that might be causing the problem with it being accepted.
Because I only make very large infrequent but meaningful updates, the last time I had this problem was late 2012 and I've completely forgotten what I had to remove from the pack to get it accepted back then.
If Curse can so easily detect problem files in a pack to reject them, why doesn't it just automatically delete the offending files with a little info on what it's doing? As it won't accept the pack for upload unless those offending files are removed, it's no loss to the uploader. Why put contributors through all this unnecessary and frustrating hassle!
8 hours ago I submitted a ticket/request to Curse re: my upload failing to be accepted and it's still not even been assigned to someone to deal with the problem! What the heck!!
I want to support Curse and have done so in preference to Planet Minecraft, but I wish things were a little easier to deal with. It feels like I'm submitting a Government application for planning permission...when all I want to do is upload my update!
Can anyone tell me what offending files to look for and how I can make them show up? I've already got 'show hidden files' and 'show system files' selected in Win 7 and still can't find anything other than .txt readme's, .mcmeta, .png and .properties files which should be acceptable. I vaguely remember .ini and .bat files being unacceptable types, but nothing like that is showing up in my zip. I also have the necessary 'pack.mcmeta' file in there too!
I'm doin' a very good impression of **** Dastardly and Muttley at the moment!
[edit] Yay! Post 3333! Highlight of my frustrating day! You can tell I'm cracking up!
I would just go ahead and do an upload to mediafire in the meantime if your willing. Also, once it is available, could you post some instructions on how to install and use the alternates because I have no idea how to do that.
Hi Glimmar
You know I love your stone ctm blocks, and I was thinking how awesome it would be to have a gold block that could be turned into a gold pillar, like your chiseled stone brick block. Have you ever considered doing something like that?

I'd like to do that, but it's in the hands of the curse developers now (hampered by different time zones for communication), and I'd like to preserve my download figures at Curse if I possibly can. I'm hoping to get a reply this morning (UK), so I can upload today. My Op, Curse page and everything else is all edited for the occasion so it's just a case of getting this darn file uploaded to Curse and getting it properly approved.
As regards instructions, I've included some in the new 'GS Alts Collection' download, and in the v12 'Changelog.txt' file in the pack when it gets uploaded.
I'll try and pop in while I'm away if I can get a signal, and see if help is needed. There are also many others around here who should be able to offer some help/advice on what to do, until I'm restored to full working order. We usually have a more Gentlemanly/Ladylike attitude on these premises, so no-one should jump on anyone for lack of know-how, especially as I'm probably more lacking than most!

You know I love your stone ctm blocks, and I was thinking how awesome it would be to have a gold block that could be turned into a gold pillar, like your chiseled stone brick block. Have you ever considered doing something like that?
Kinda like this:
See what you think of my new ctm'd gold mosaic stained clay in my hopefully very soon to upload v12 resource pack. As a stop-gap you could use this as the main body of the pillar and top and tail it with the ctm'd stone slab block for a slightly swankier looking Byzantine/Baroque style column.
I'll add your suggestion to my 'todo' list though. It might not be so difficult to make it as an alternative texture, within the usual blocky limitations...something you can swap in to one of the stained clay slots.
Those clay slots are turning out to be mighty useful for sets of alts. We should petition Mojang to make more. Not that I'm looking for too much extra work to do.
Wasn't there some mention of introducing stained glass in some Mojang Twitter? That would give me the chance to have some proper glass and one or two more structural types of glass, like gold railings, etc.

That was in the "MC 2.0" April Fools joke. It shows that Mojang actually agnowledged the suggestion's existence, though, and something else (horses) in 2.0 was also added officially, so we can keep our hopes up!

By searching a little i think the reason for the problem might be that curse haven't allowed .mcmeta files as a valid file yet,
making curse think there's something wrong with the resource pack

Thanks, yes, I was aware of that, but a few days into July they seemed to have sorted the problem and there's a notice in their upload manager to that effect stating that '.mcmeta' files are now accepted as a valid file type, but thanks for searching for me.
I've downloaded a couple of packs off Curse which are MC 1.6.2 ready along with the now obligatory .mcmeta files included. However, Curse really should have been ready well in advance of July to accept .mcmeta files...it's not like they were hidden or anything.
It's got me stumped, as I only have 4 types of file in my v12 resource pack - .png (graphics and textures), .txt (readme files), .properties (MCPatcher instruction files) and the new .mcmeta files (new Minecraft files). All of these were in the few packs I downloaded.
As mentioned I've done multiple searches with hidden files turned on, including protected system files, and that doesn't show anything up through either multiple searches on all the common problem files, or repeated manual searches through every single folder. After months of work that's a very tedious soul destroying thing to have to do. Gah!
What else can I do? I do think the hassle involved in getting through checks like this is somewhat arcane. Not sure if I mentioned it here or over at Curse, but if they can automatically detect something, why not automatically say what it is that's causing the problem? Instead of all this troubleshooting back and forth!
It's like being hauled over on the side of a road by a law enforcement officer who says he's issuing you with a ticket because you've done something wrong, and he can't tell you what you did wrong, but you'll find out in a few months time when you appear in court!

I cant wait to see what you do with all of this stuff Have you ever thought of using the sponge block for some of your alternate stuff, since sponges arent used for anything anyway?
