Rex, he can have the user punished and the thread removed. Thats pretty damn good compared to accepting your fate and dealing with it
I'm not saying that you can't punish people for doing it, what I'm saying is that there are not many things you can do to prevent things like copying from happening.
Very well! Been there for 2 1/2 years now (about as long as I've done Romecraft actually, haha) and lots has been done to preserve and restore. Fresh paint all around and some new welded plates. Fun stuff!
As with hybrid texture packs, my armor has always been 32x32. I recently transferred that idea to decorative blocks and objects that would be more "precise" so to speak, such as rounded door handles on doors, neater grating for windows, etc. I still however make the textures have the -feel- of a 16x16.
Here's an example with my new columns. The only thing I did was make my bottom shadowing and top lightening in 32x32, with the rest still using 16x16 pixels. Makes for a much neater column structure, so that the blocks actually look like column segments butted up to each other, while still looking like minecraft.
Excellent pillars, Stug! I bet you were pleased when Mojang announced all the quartz stuff! It was a wonderful gift for Romecraft for sure.
Moving up to 64x is the same reasoning behind your decision to make some things in 32x. The extra pixels for some machines/animations/textures available at 64x is now too much to ignore.
In Creative mode, it's simple. First, get a pumpkin, an anvil, and a respiration enchanted book from the creative inventory. Place the anvil down and right-click it to open the GUI. Put the pumpkin in the first slot and the enchanted book in the second slot. You can also rename it at this point to something like "diving helmet" if you want. Finally, take the enchanted pumpkin/diving helmet out of the anvil's "finished product" slot.
I'm not sure if you can do this in survival. You might be able to, but you'd have to craft the anvil and enchant the book yourself, and that can be a pain.
Haha! I shall try that out and stick that description in my Diving Helm section as soon as I can. Thanks, mate!
These look great! If I may, I would suggest making matching colors for the redstone itself too. I think it would add a little more of a "grimy" look and feel to it with the green and a more "magical" sense with the blue.
Lol! The work is never ending, but if I get time...
I'm trying to keep a proper 'todo' list going again. I often fail at this because there are so many things to do it gets a bit overwhelming!
I had the same idea, except I thought of doing it using mcedit filters to make the respiration be high enough to make you breath underwater with it. You can do it with respiration III if you use a enchantment book in an anvil on a pumpkin, but you can only do it in creative.
I know TMI has a custom enchantment section. I tried it on a pumpkin and i put Reparation 10 and aqua affinity 10 on the pumpkin and it worked for me. i didn't time it but i assume you could last for about 5 minutes underwater.
I shall compare both these with Droideka30's method and see what comes of it! Thanks, Rex, asikar! credits will abound if I get time to try them!
Glimmar I want to have your babies! I know that'd be kinda hard seeing as I'm a bloke but hey science is a wonderful thing nowadays.
But truly excellent job mate! The day you decide to walk away from this pack is the day I stop playing Minecraft (though I know you have a life and it is inevitable...no pressure though huh ) I couldn't play it anymore without this pack. As always well worth the wait for the update of this pack. You and the others here that support the mod textures do such an amazing job. Thank you thank you!
Haha! Thanks, mate!
What with all the new things MC Patcher and Minecraft come up with, it is getting increasingly more difficult to keep up, but I still love building stuff myself, so that's the key thing. However, I'm currently doing some real world building again this Easter break, so haven't much time for MInecraft at the mo'. Also I'm rewarding myself with a little playtime on 'Dishonored'.
i want the 32x back! my computer can't Handle 64x w/o 1-3 fps
It's probably the animations, extra ctm and Betterskies that are the real power drains. Unless I only explained on Youtube, there is a way to switch all the animations off, or specific ones, by editing the .txt files in the blocks and items folders in the textures folder of the pack.
Also, try running the game through a fresh download of Minecraft 1.5.1 without patching with MC Patcher and see what effect that has. It would at least establish if it was the 64x animations and textures and not the ctm and other MC Patcher features that was causing so much lag.
32x will be a real task for me, and as I only play in 64x myself, it's lacking a lot of incentive at the moment after so much recent work. However, I will do my best when I can.
Well that guy sure put in a wonderful description for a pack that is clearly not his! Almost made it believable... almost. Glimmar I dont know how you can be so cordial with these people all the time! It feels like every time I check this thread someone else has stolen it!
It really is the worst that can happen after all the time I put in at update time. I'm very grateful for any and all support I get off you guys and would certainly not be worth carrying on if I didn't have that! Lets hope the good guys continue to outnumber the bad guys!
There's not much anyone can do in situations like that. Anyone with the knowledge on how to open a file can take any picture in a texture pack and call it their own.
I'm not saying that you can't punish people for doing it, what I'm saying is that there are not many things you can do to prevent things like copying from happening.
I agree with both of you. This is the real world of the internet where some people seem to leave what morals they have behind in the real world.
What is increasingly annoying me about Planet Minecraft is that they have a disclaimer saying they aren't responsible for stolen material being uploaded, but are often slow to respond to reports and knowing they have regular amounts of stolen material on their site, they don't seem to be trying to improve their methods of vetting new material, in particular texture packs, which contain easily recognizable styles or themes of valuable copyrighted artwork. Curse/Forge have an approval system before a new upload is accepted and I support this, perhaps Planet Minecraft should be doing this. Once I report things they're usually pretty quick to remove, but very often I might not be available to do this and so rely on others to report obvious misdemeanors, which often get ignored!
I haven't got time to maintain a presence over there, just to try to prevent thievery...I shouldn't have to do that to protect my work.
Twice in two days my entire pack has been misappropriated on PM, and I've only been away for two days. I've complained to PM and reported the latest. The first was taken down without my intervention, so I'm thankful to those who reported it and to the PM admin who took those reports seriously.
My pack is still being ripped off at Planet Minecraft and admin are being slower than usual to remove it. If you value my pack, please leave a comment over there:
Right...off to bed. As mentioned above, I've been doing some real world building since the weekend, so mentally and now physically very drained! Thanks again for the support, guys!
The forge download is still v11 instead of v11.1, and I still can't access the widget
Hello, Brokeneye.
I've made the following checks to confirm:
1. thoroughly checked the Curse download widget in my OP and it clearly states v11.1 as the current download.
2. tested the widget on other PCs and v11.1 clearly shows up there.
3. tested the download from the Curse download widget and v11.1 downloads correctly, including the necessary additions of potato stages and vertical dispenser/dropper top animations.
4. checked my Curse file store and the most current file of the three I've uploaded there (v10, v11 and v11.1) is indeed v11.1
However...when I checked the extra 'direct link' to the 11.1 file on my Curse download page, it does indeed show v.11. You have my sincere apologies, Brokeneye, and anyone else who has used that link. It's fixed now to point to the correct 11.1 version...sorry guys!
All the other points I checked do correctly show v11.1, but I'm aware the Curse Widget doesn't work for everyone, though it would help if I'd got the extra direct link underneath the widget correctly set up from the start.
Here's the corrected alternative direct download link to my CURSE/FORGE Download Page: link
Op seems to need to figure out what Optifine is. Its a mod, not a patcher, and it does everything MCpatcher does cleanly and without the mess that MCpatcher likes to make up by trying to apply mods unrelated mods.
Taso, its nice to see you thrive to look smart it really is, beats not trying, but you have to know what you are talking about before you start or it doesn't really work out for you. Optifine is a mod, that is a patcher. It has other features as well, but the patching features like CTM and better skys are not nearly as clean as the versions in MCpatcher. Sure the pack will work, but not as well as it would with MCpatcher. Don't come whining about some one else's knowledge on some thing before you yourself are clear on the subject. It doesn't help he explains this in the OP, and multiple times to the kids who come here asking about it. Read a little, its good for the mind.
So I've been getting back into Minecraft lately, and I just had to download this texture pack again.
It's a surprise too see your thread still hanging around at the first pages in the subforum, and it's awesome to see how you still put a lot of time and effort into this pack, and reply to everyone, keep up the great work!
Anyway, here's a little project I've been working on:
http://imgur.com/a/xIZAJ
(Link to album because I'm too lazy to the post images in this post, I'm very sorry)
Edit: I'm sorry about the bad quality, I don't know what went wrong there.
I plan to build a city in a steampunk/industrial revolution style. Not neccessarily the typical 'magical' classic steampunk, but a darker, more realistic version. The kind of architecture you'd see in Dishonored.
This is just the start, I want to build a street/avenue that kinda represents what the whole thing will look like. (If I ever finish it, that is)
I use a customized version of the texture pack, that changes some of the wool textures to bricks, so I could have some variety between buildings.
That's about it, I'll keep working on this update, maybe post some updates, maybe I'll start my own thread, we'll see. Feedback and criticism is greatly appreciated, but keep it clean!
Very nice. I'm working on a project too. The Icarus. She is a 400 x 100 block flying city, built much like Airhaven from Philip Reeve's Predator cities quartet. hop on over to my thread and have a look around. After the Icarus is done i plan to build a city of my own, too bad it requires me to clear out a whole jungle biome, unghhh, poor placement of things on my build map...
Anyway, here is the link to my thread if you're interested:

Telling Glimmar that he needs to figure out what Optifine is is rather arrogant.
Just a heads up, found a missing texture. I was playing vanilla survival for the first time in quite some time when I came across a zombie wearing chain armor, which he dropped a piece of. While icon in the inventory did have a texture (albeit the same as iron), the texture while worn was default. I know you have said that you've been meaning to get around to retexturing the armors, so that they aren't just recolors of the same thing, but I thought I'd let you know that you should probably add Chain armor to the list, since there is now a legit way of getting it.
has anyone made a xycraft support add-on pack for glimmers yet ??
Yes, there is preliminary Xycraft support, although none of the mod textures have been updated to the 1.5 format yet (not sure if any of the mods have been fully updated either, so there's probably that). Check in the Mod Texture Compendium on the first page, under Mod Support.
Thanks for all the hard work on this texture pack! I love it! I have been playing with a lot of mods here lately and I have been using the mod textures but I noticed some of the railcraft and buildcraft items show up as pink blocks. I was wondering if there was a way to make it just show the vanilla mod items and not the pink block? sorry not that savvy when it comes to how texture packs work.

At the moment, we'd have to go in and add the vanilla textures onto the texture sheets. You could probably do this yourself without too much hassle, as I'm not sure if any of the mod texturers are free at the moment (I know I'm busy). Also, as most mods are updating to 1.5 soon, the current mod texture format might not be valid anymore (since they are, in theory, switching over away from texture sheets and to individual textures soon), and switching to that will probably take a fair bit of work from us, so don't be surprised if all the mod textures break in the next couple weeks (assuming you update the mods immediately).

Thank you for the quick response I think I will just stick with the vanilla glimmar pack for now. I am looking forward to the new stuff. Always a big fan of all texturers hard work. keep it up.

afaik, the only new blocks added to RailCraft is the Steam Oven. The other new items are some kind of signal circuits, i think. I've already finished the Steam Oven textures and i'll start on the items later today.

Didn't they also add a locomotive? Then again, that might not be on the texture sheet…
