Hi Glimmar i just thought i would keep you posted on Rapture so here is a view of our newly built Fontain Futuristics seen through the roof of the also new Atlantic Express Station, which will also provide transport around Rapture. http://i48.tinypic.com/23hlmjq.png
Hello!
I haven't been here in a while; just popped in to say hello!
I had a quick look back at the thread and have to say I'm amazed!
The amount of work you get done is incredible and the quality indescribable... I'll have to download your newest version tomorrow at some point, but until then what have you done with Nether Quartz ore and the item? In my own I made it bits of scrap metal as my quartz blocks are metal walkway girding.
Speaking of which; my 16x "Steamy" is slowly steaming along; which Is why I'm amazed at how fast you can work on yours. It's taken me forever to even finish the terrain sheet... whoops! I mean blocks folder!
Anyway; thank you so much for your inspiring work, and for making these forums a more habitable place...
Hey all, i just finished updating my ships to the new pack textures and i must say that the pipes make quite a difference and the comparators really add something to the bridge of any airship. as always, keep up the good work Glimmar.
Glimmar: when you scale up a 32x block to 64x, do you have to do a bunch of clean up? I have been using a number of Alt textures in the 32x pack. After scaling them up in Gimp, they look a bit fuzzy. Better than Paint.Net did bu still not perfect....

Check the options you have selected when scaling. Normally, it will try to "soften" edges when scaling up, but you can change that by telling it not to. Can't quite remember what the setting youre looking for is, but it will with be "Cubic", "None", or Antialiasing: Off. Look for setting that look like that when scaling, and play around a bit until you find something that works.
Now I can get back to work on my countryside! (Latest build, Pemberley Grange, the center of which is the Grange Hall, where the... oddly coloured sheep are raised for use on the airship.)
The countryside seemed like a safer place to build until the new version of your Steampunk pack came out.
Mind you, the Grange is not exactly an exciting build, three buildings and a wall built around an inner court, based loosely on Damsgaard:
I also want to do something for The Grey Funnel Line (Royal Navy) down by the waterfront....

But the hardest time in a sailor's day

Is still a prison for the likes of me
But give me wings like Noah's dove

I'm looking forward to stealing from people instead of mindlessly killing them! I hope that they keep the story line and the backstories in it.
I'm just enjoying my 'Dishonored' Christmas Present. I can't seem to mange anything other than a chaotic, murder everything in sight, approach to things! I shall have to start again and try to be a little more 'Thief-like'

Hiya, Squid. Many thanks for those kind words.
Haha! You'll be surprised just how close our ideas for using Nether Quartz are!
Hey all, i just finished updating my ships to the new pack textures and i must say that the pipes make quite a difference and the comparators really add something to the bridge of any airship. as always, keep up the good work Glimmar.
Brilliant! All being put to good use...as intended!
I downloaded this a while back and didn't care for it too much. Found it again, and my taste must have changed, because I really enjoy it now
Ah! Nice one! A lot has changed over the past year, for sure. There's always room for improvement in many areas, but so very little time in which to complete it. I keep beavering away.

ksheep, reply hits the nail on the head here. When you upscale choose 'none' as your method of upscaling.
I'm kicking myself that I included the 32x versions of my alts in the pack, but I couldn't find my already upscaled textures, nor if I'd already asked The_Fool76 if he could apply his magic to blanket upscaling the lot to 64x and outputting as individual textures. In any event I couldn't find them and didn't have the time or enthusiasm to laboriously do them individually. You'd never have got an update if I had!
I also want to do something for The Grey Funnel Line (Royal Navy) down by the waterfront....

I love that poem...and the builds of course!
My old dad was in the Royal Navy, before and during World War II, so I'd be mighty interested to see what you come up with...in a fantastical Minecraft Steampunk sort of way of course.
So while I was doing an Airship from Bioshock I made this little scenario using this two barges I recreated. One is the Columbian Police force and the other is a modified Vox Populi version. Right now they're identical but I'm planning on making the Vox one look more ranshackled I love this pack it gives you so many opportunities! I'll upload it on PMC when it comes back on so if anyone on the forums is a member please feel free to diamond it Here's some screens:
Edit: Glimmar, some green or blue alts for the redstone block would be so cool!! The blue one would look like a square self powered contained tesla coil!!

Nice airships, for sure. Also nice to see the animated flywheels being put to good use as a means of propulsion.
What a good idea! Making redstone block alts will be relatively easy. Infact hang on...I'll upload some variations soon if I get a chance. Of course the redstone block is the sort of thing that has no limits with regard to the alts that one could produce.
I've also been working on a simple way for users to switch off specific block and item animations, if they're having problems running so many at 64x. It's really not difficult for anyone to do, if you're confident enough to open up a zip file, you can easily do it. Here's how:
Look in the 'block' & 'items' folders located in the 'textures' folder. Any animated block or item will have an accompanying '.txt' file. To switch off the animation for a specific block or item:
1. Copy it's .txt file to your desktop.
2. Open it up and delete all the lines of instructions, except the first line '0*1'.
3. Save it.
4. Drop it back in the pack to overwrite the original .txt file.
The new .txt file tells Minecraft to only play the first frame in an anim strip. As there is only one frame, it will not be animated. I can't say whether appearing to switch off animations this way will actually speed things up as minecraft may still be carrying out it's animation duties by endlessly flipping through the first frame of the anim strip. Perhaps someone could investigate.
This might not be the most elegant or efficient way of doing things, but it's relatively easy and quick to do and allows you to target those things you can do without, while keeping those things you feel are important. You can even do this for water, lava and the portal animations.
Next update, I'll put a collection of these alt .txt files in the alt collection folder.
My old dad was in the Royal Navy, before and during World War II, so I'd be mighty interested to see what you come up with...in a fantastical Minecraft Steampunk sort of way of course.
The late Cyril Tawney - who wrote Grey Funnel Line was also Royal Navy, and a folk singer, let me rummage a bit....
The song itself is from the 1950s, but Cyril served during WWII. But the Navy was and is the Navy, so his songs get played in the background when I am working on the tower, the drydock, and when eventually I do something for The Navy. (And trying to get his recordings here in the States is not easy....) The easiest song of his to find is Sammy's Bar - worth looking for, but definitely rooted in WWII, not an earlier day.
As for my mooring tower... Well, I am aiming at the tight quarters and grotty - a freight and maintenance terminal as opposed to asikar's beautiful Grand Central.
Most business there is freight - loading an image into Flickr, taking longer than expected - doesn't seem to like that one image, and a day later... still doesn't. May need to take a different picture of the freight end.
The original was a squat, bare tower - then buildings started being built under and on the structure. (If you have seen what happened to a lot of freight docks then you know what I mean.)
I am going to redo a bunch of parts of this, if and when I can get quartz.... The green painted iron looks great!
I'm just enjoying my 'Dishonored' Christmas Present. I can't seem to mange anything other than a chaotic, murder everything in sight, approach to things! I shall have to start again and try to be a little more 'Thief-like'
I bought that game the day it came out, I've still been playing it and seeing everything I missed the last time I played. Finaly got the achievement where you have to not be seen or kill anyone not that long ago.

Great vid! I'm pretty sure parts of that vid show Whitby, North Yorkshire, where we've holidayed quite a few times. Great coastal walks, history, and fossil hunting! I bet I'm wrong after saying all that.
I look forward to seeing what you do with the green cast iron (quartz).

Haha! That's the bit I'm having trouble with. I just go in cross bow and blade blazing, so I know it's going to be a chaotic ending!
More specifically, I made lots of alternative coloured animated redstone blocks, some of which I've given a slow energy 'pulse'.
Music and Sound Sample Credits:
I am very grateful for the following music and sound samples being made open-source. I give due credit to the kind and talented individuals for their time and generosity:
I'll upload a separate zip file with the animated textures enclosed, but it will be tomorrow now as it's late and I can't face staying up late again only to watch MediaFire go slow! They're relatively simple to use though, by choosing a coloured redstone block anim strip, renaming to 'blockRedstone.png' and dropping it into the 'textures/block' folder in the texture pack zip. The .txt file doesn't need changing as it has the same number of frames of animation.
Unless I am blind I can not find the download. Can someone show me the exact location of the 1.5 download?
Edit: Forget it I found it. Curse my none seeing eyes.
It may not be your eye's. For some, the Curse download widget doesn't work, but there's a direct link underneath it that takes you to my Curse download page.
Eh, your sky is royally screwed up beggin your pardon. The night sky that is. Is it in the wrong location or is it just not 1.5?

The time I went in mass killing, I found that when you hit someone with a bottle enough times, they die. So I had the patience to collect a ton of bottles on a roof, and throw them at a guard until he died. Once he hit the ground, I realized that another guard was near me with a gun, and killed me on the spot. I still don't regret doing it.

Not sure. Where does the sky0 folder belong?
