Oooh... What would the red swirly blocks be? I'm guessing redstone blocks? And the other brick-reddish block seen around the 3-4:00 mark? They were carved similarly to the quartz block.
And I can't help but say how amazing this texture pack is. I will have to wait patiently as I know you are already working too hard! Good luck and it looks wonderful!
Stupid question. Had minecraft forever, havent played since before endermen came out. Anyway. I saw someone stream minecraft today and I wanna play again. Decided to try a texture pack, this one looks interesting. But my question is, how does this work with 1.5.1? Will it work? I know hes updating to it, but I kinda wanna play now. <<; Just wanna see if this would work, crash my game, destroy my pc. o.o
Do texture packs add their own items btw? So much stuff in here looks like it couldnt even be converted from something else. This is just all.. @[email protected]

I just wanna build a castle.. leave me alone. ;;
Glimmar has yet to upload a complete 1.5 version of the pack, although I believe he released something a few pages back that will work for the interim. It sounds like he's getting close to uploading the (semi)final version of the 1.5 pack, so if you can wait, I'd suggest holding off until then. While you can use the hold-over pack with 1.5, you probably won't be able to use v.10 due to how Minecraft changed how textures work. It won't destroy your game or anything, it just won't show any textures properly.
As for other stuff, no, the texture pack doesn't add any new items, it simply give a new look to the vanilla items. You will probably want to use MCPatcher to experience everything, however, as this pack relies heavily on some features offered there (it had been required up until now, as this is technically an HD pack). Alternatively, you could try Optifine, but some features may not be the same (especially the custom lighting colors).
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your stay, and have fun building!

He has a snapshot version that may work with 1.5.1 a few pages back, although, when he is doing the videos, it means he is REALLY close to uploading the texture pack. Texture packs by themselves do not add items or blocks to the game, only mods can do that. But there are bits of code in the game for blocks that are not normally available, and he has textures for those blocks. But you need cheats activated for the world you want to use those 'special' blocks in. You can do this either upon creating a new world, or, get a mod like Too Many Items which will allow you to change between creative and survival, if you have an old survival world you are getting back into. He has notes in the original post on how to access those special blocks.
Everything else is vanilla blocks and items, but Glimmar doesn't always stick with Mojang's concept for what a block should look like. The green and gold blocks in these videos look more like marble with the default textures turned on. His pumpkins have gauges on them, etc. He also includes a plethora of alternate textures in the pack, but you'll have to swap the files around yourself, if you feel comfortable doing that kind of thing.
I can wait then. Hopefully its soon. I like the way this pack looks from the video. I never did explore how to do complicated stuff before but watching this, after starting my game I wanna see just how much I can actually do. All in SP ofcourse. My castle. My laws. =o

That's the thing. I just recently started playing multiplayer. You can use whatever texture pack you want and others will use the packs they want. But looking at builds that are meant to be viewed with default textures in steampunk can be jarring, and vice versa for others seeing your stuff. And of course there is dealing with people that just don't share your sensibilities, either design or gameplay wise. Some people can be awful.
I love the pipe textures, but I have one nagging question: do they bend? I noticed that they have vertical and horizontal CTM, but I didn't see any pipe block intersections or corners. It's perfectly fine if they don't, to be clear.
I have a new texture for the mystcraft 'archivist' villager. He's really just a tweaked librarian in tophat. Since the default texture for these guys has a purple and gold color scheme, I tried to keep that going in the accents. I wanted to use the head from the 'witch' but I found it much too elongated when compared to the other villagers without the pile of crazed hair. So I gave one librarian a salt and pepper makeover.
Well Im an explorer and antisocial. >> So Id love SP just as a sandbox where I can build what is on my mind! This pack makes it look nice too. I wonder, can you use this on an existing game? Cause Id hate to just not play minecraft. Its small and easy to play when Im distracted doing other stuff. So I wouldnt mind starting, gathering, rubbing out my niche then updating. Though the world might look vastly different afterwards...

Maybe I can do 2 castles...
Totally, you can swap textures at any time, and now you don't even have to go out to the main menu to do it! Sometimes when I am desperate to find a particular resource, I'll pop on an 'x-ray' texture pack to see where I have to dig to, and then jump back to Glimmar's pack when it's time to use it. It just may look odd seeing an old world in steampunk when it was built in default and vice versa.
It's only mods that can get tricky when adding and subtracting things from the base game. Although there are certain mods that can make the process a little smoother. But if all you are interested in at the moment is the base game, change your texture pack as often as you can stand, it won't affect gameplay.
I am literally shaking in wait for this texture pack!!! Bioshock Infinite came out today and it reminded me just how awesome and cool this Texture Pack is!! I can't wait to make a bustling city or a floating ship or a Jules Verne-esque Submarine :D. I love your work Glimmar and be sure you take all the time you need to make it as perfect as you want it to be, take Bioshock as an example. Delayed it three times and it won 80 awards before it was released!
By all means, take your time! All I was saying was, "I can't wait for this to come out!" and "I wonder if I could format text to go up and down..."
Ah! I wasn't taking offence or anything...more the other way around. I was concerned everyone might think I was slacking or purposefully holding back, so just giving my usual apologies for such a long delay.
Wow glimmar, im really loving the gasmask, new chests, and your hoppers, i have a garbage disposal idea for a lab build, like those drains on the floor, but for thicker things then water...
I have lots of components for the villagers, as I do for the pigmen. Gasmasks have been lying around with a whole load of other equipment on my special villager wardrobe sheet for months now and finally thought they'd be useful additions to show in the second vid. Glad you like.
Oooh... What would the red swirly blocks be? I'm guessing redstone blocks? And the other brick-reddish block seen around the 3-4:00 mark? They were carved similarly to the quartz block.

Yep, you're right about the swirly red block, and the dark red decorated block is the 'chiseled' version of the quartz/cast iron block.

I only build in SP too. My city, my laws...I feel a bond already!
I love the pipe textures, but I have one nagging question: do they bend? I noticed that they have vertical and horizontal CTM, but I didn't see any pipe block intersections or corners. It's perfectly fine if they don't, to be clear.
Lol! No they don't I'm afraid, Duffman. I was thinking about making the chiseled quartz block a ctm curved pipe block, but felt it would be more useful as another horizontal ctm block with more decoration.
When the dust settles, and I've recouped some sleep, enthusiasm and some play time (also it will be the Easter school hols here in the UK, so I'll be busy with the kids and other activities), I shall have a go at making an alt chiseled quartz block. When everyone gets a little more confident with MC 1.5 it will be appreciated how much easier it should be to drop stuff in and out. Ctm can sometimes be slightly problematical if you use a new named ctm folder as it will be necessary to re-run the MC Patcher 'converter' program on the pack again.

Hah! Apart from the grey hairs on the guy, you would not believe how close that skin is to one of my new villagers. I think you've probably done the same as I and made an extensive 'Sims' style wardrobe. I have a whole bunch of scarves, hats, hatbands and the like, just not enough time to dress the little geezers.

I'm currently trying to upload to my Curse page here:
I say trying, as I've never updated there before and just as when I first uploaded there, I find some of the ways of doing things a little confusing...being an old-timer short on sleep! At the moment, every attempt at uploading ends in a 'problem encountered' page!
Anyone wanting an early look at the GS v.11 pack, needs to keep an eye out over there. I'm hoping to establish my Curse thread as the safest place to download the pack. My thread here will always be the best place to find out about new things, see progress and ask questions. I also feel supporting Curse feels more official than using MediaFire and gives me a little reward/incentive with curse vouchers over time. Once I've got it up and running there, I'll quickly try to figure how to get the Curse 'download widget' working over here in my thread.

Oh, it may get to that point, but really I just took your librarian4.png and put a couple of color layers over the top and changed the blend mode in photoshop to allow your already sophisticated pixel work to shine through. I'm more comfortable doing dodging and burning and the like to your existing textures rather than try and duplicate your style from scratch. As I've only just started playing with the mods, and finding the blocks and items that are not yet supported, it takes me out of the world, so to speak. I want any support I might add to fit as seamlessly as possible with your amazing work, not detract or distract from it.

Well, I like his greying hairs.
I honestly hadn't thought too much about a range of aging faces, but I'll get there sometime. They'll look stranger still on the little child villagers, but they already look hilarious scampering around in their top hats and gasmasks.
Incidentally I accidentally discovered a way to generate the tiny version of villagers, simply by clicking on an existing villager with the villager spawner egg in hand. Everybody but me probably already knows that, but it should provide me with some amusing extras for another video sometime.
Well, after about 50 attempts, I finally managed to upload my GS v.11 pack to Curse for approval. So lets hope I haven't included any illegal file types, or it'll get rejected and I'll have to start the upload process all over again. Bah!
Looks like the new version is up! Downloading now… and probably won't have a chance to play for another 5 hours, as I'm performing in a concert this evening. Still… it's out!!!

I know the feeling I happen to be performing in a concert in round about an hour, and with practice time approaching I have time to post, download, and log out before our conductor gets more irritated than she usually is.

Good luck with the concerts.
Just updating my OP and will throw up a notice and stuff here when it's done. Thanks for your patience. As ksheep correctly announced, you can download from Curse or here for convenience:
I apologise to asikar and The_Fool76, because I didn't mention in yesterdays Changelog that I decided to include their material in this update. You are both correctly credited in the readme in the pack and an updated Changelog I'm about to upload in the OP and also properly in the Credits section of my OP.
asikar provided 3 64x swords and The_Fool76 supplied a rather intriguing 'Geiger Counter' style version of the 32x compass that works remarkably well. The clock is just vanilla for now, but when I've had a little rest this Easter, both the clock and compass will be top priority as a project. Thanks guys. How to use the Geiger Counter is outlined in the new v.11 Changelog, but it's fairly easy to work it out...blimey! I could do it, so it can't be that difficult!
Righto. Everything is updated in the OP with the latest iteration of my pack v.11 and with whizzo Curse Download widget. Credits and other info is updated along with an up-to-date v.11 Changelog which should be your first port of call to check what's new in the pack...there's a lot! My two latest v.11 taster videos are up at the top of the OP, featuring most of the new things and giving a few examples of how they could be used.
@ksheep: I've updated the User Mod Support section with your latest compilation of user mod textures. Very many thanks for your continued work on this. It is, as always very much appreciated by me and everyone looking to further their experience of Minecraft using my pack. Thanks, mate!
I'll probably be over at my Curse page for a little while to make sure I've properly edited things over there. Then I'm going to take a little break for a few days.
Important note: I should have said more clearly that, apart from patching your game with MC Patcher in the usual way, I have already fully updated my GS v.11 pack to MC 1.5.1. Therefore, as far as I know, you don't need to use MC Patcher's Texture Pack Conversion Tool, it should run fine, so long as your system can cope with all the extra animations and new ctm material I've thrown in. It should also work fine for those who don't use MC Patcher, although you will be missing out on a lot of special animations and all the ctm special effects, etc. and my HD font will not look right. My advice would always be to use MC Patcher first, alternatively Optifine (though I haven't tested v.11 with it) and as a last resort just through Minecrafts own HD capabilities.
Don't be afraid to show me anything clever you make using the new textures. I'm always interested to see ingenious new ways of building with blocks.
I have to say, this pack is absolutely amazing! Good luck on it in the future!
Thank you, FlameDrake. Thanks for taking the time to say. It does make a difference after weeks of work on the new update to get a few encouraging words. Much appreciated.
