WOW, the texture pack is great (just downloaded it) reeeeeally good job... is there anyway to change the paints ?
Thank you!
By 'paints', do you mean the paintings? If so, yes, but not from within the game. If you want a different selection of paintings you will need to search on the forums for complete 'kz.png' files of paintings. If you want your own personal selection of paintings, then you'll need to use something like photoshop, gimp, or paint.net, decide on pixel size (the original is 512x512pixels), study the orginal kz.png file in the 'art' folder of the minecraft.jar file, for correct placement of each painting, then cut and paste what you want of your own work, or pics off the internet.
That may be more info than you were looking for, but hard to tell from your question, sorry! :smile.gif:
thank you very much , thats exatly what i was asking xD sorry for the baaad english (i'm brazilian and i don't remember the last time i study english ... i think is something like ... 9 years ago...) any way , really good job ^^
Glad to help then!
Your English is excellent, by the way. I only speak English, so I am impressed by anyone who speaks more than one language. Hope you get on ok with Notch's recent update. If my textures appear broken, there is help and advice on this and the previous page, and also at the top of the thread on the first page, !
1. Pumpkin Helmet?
2. Is this mroe then a texture pack? or can I put the .zip file in the minecraft folder and use the texture picker on it?
1. You can put any pumpkins you find on your head and wear it as a helmet.
2. Right now Glimmar has only officially released a texture pack, so putting it in the modpack file within Minecraft will work, except for the "glitched" blocks in HD.
Also, I'd like to vouch for the green water. I live in the South Carolina Lowcountry, where the water varies from brown to green to grey to light blue. I'd say Glimmar's water is pretty realistic
Haha! Thanks Triskeli. Nice to hear from you again.
You're mostly right about the texture pack, but there are some additional things like, like the new sun and moon and of course the glitched blocks are still repairable by using xau's MC Patcher programme, though at present you must de-select custom water and lava, or the game will hang at start up. This is the same for all higher than 16x16 pixel texture packs until xau updates his patcher. I believe the Ambient Occlusion mod (an absolute must for any texture pack, in my opinion) is still working also. The patcher is best used after a fresh installation or update of Minecraft.
I still have to get on to my gadgety version of the paintings yet!
Haha! Thanks Triskeli. Nice to hear from you again.
I can only apologize that I haven't had more to say recently. Thankfully, the semester is almost over, and I'll have some time to myself again.
@Failure#117, I agree completely about the darker handles to match the darker wood texture that the pack uses.
@Tlos, that's a good design (especially considering it's based off of a modified glue-gun), but it's hard to tell what it is out of context, in particular the ammo clip. I'm more in support of the automatic crossbow suggested instead.
*EDIT*
Something along the lines of this contraption:
*On the plus side, the man already looks like a Morlock.
I don't know if anyone has had this problem before, but is it normal for iron, gold and diamond blocks to only display their side sprite all around the box? What might I be doing wrong?
Tch, that happened with Notches' Halloween update: The same side is shown for the Iron, Gold, and Diamond blocks as default. There IS a mod that would fix it, but I'm not sure if it still works. All those pretty textures gone to waste =[
I'll try to work on the crossbow when I get the chance, likely tomorrow.
Edit: now that I've made that pistol, I can't help but think of how it would work, I've already drawn up schematics and everything. The coolest part to me is that with my design the clip would fly out of the top of the gun when empty.
Well... I downloaded the pack, put it in the folder, activated it, went into my save, and proceeded to blow a large hole right out side of my base because I mistook a tnt block for something else. Not your fault I know, but I thought a few of you might get a cheap laugh out of it.

It's got the little exclamation mark on it, you should have been able to tell!
Besides, who leaves TNT just lying around, anyway?

Oh no! I'm getting behind on my replies, but I thought I better quickly answer this and apologise, with a bit of a tee hee, too! Seriously though, this is my fault for making it ambiguous, and to compound the issue I removed the exclamation mark (on my v1.3 update), what twit (me!) builds a mini-nuke device and then removes the warning?! So the fault is entirely mine, just please don't sue me!! :sad.gif:
I need a symbol on there still, but I didn't really like the 'TNT' or the '!'. Any ideas again?
Lol! Never having used TNT myself (careful builder here) it took me by surprise too when I came to display the thing to show off for the first time. Blew my little display area up doing just what you did, saved while looking at it and when I re-entered the game it activated the TNT! I ended up back at my original spawn point, miles away! I suppose we can blame Notch a bit then for the trigger happy saves.
Please note, since Notch's latest update (v1.2.5) custom water and lava are broken once more! After downloading this update, you will need to run xau's MC Patcher again to remove all the graphical glitches off brick, gold, pumpkin, etc. and DE-SELECT custom 'water' and 'lava' or you'll get the 'black screen of death'. If anything goes wrong, just delete your Minecraft 'bin' folder (NOT your 'save' folder), launch the game and let it download a fresh copy of minecraft, then go through the process of applying the MC Patcher program (same instructions on page 1 of this thread still apply), being careful to de-select the custom water and lava options. I'm sure xau will release an update soon!
Handy tip: I've taken to saving a copy of my Minecraft 'bin' folder now (as most of the recent updates have been for multi-player, which doesn't interest me as much as single play) then, when there's an update, I swap out the updated 'bin' folder, put my old working one (with all my favourite mods) in it's place and everything is back to normal. Now when you run the game don't forget to disable your password in the launch screen, when it fails to download just select to play 'offline'.
Then when all the modders and xua's patcher have caught up, I just delete my favourite (working) bin folder, download minecraft afresh and all the updated mods, and then carry on from there (saving a backup of the new bin folder). Then it's not quite so traumatic, if all you're wanting to do is carry on building with your favourite setup.
I do look at any new updates though, so that I can try and offer help to those unfamiliar with all the changes.
Don't forget, I always try to put current advice up at the top of the thread on page 1 and that's where all the instructions for patching and installing reside!
Don't get too frustrated, you do get used to it, and as mentioned above, there are quick easy work-arounds.
hai there,
I love the pack, it's original, classy and torches look stunning at night :wink.gif:
makes my jetty-type thingy looks rarther nice with it on an all ;o (still not a scratch on yours)
Keep up the amazing work <3
Awesome work there! :smile.gif: Great pic and thanks for sharing...show us more sometime.
Glad you like the textures...I've still lots to improve. Many thanks. :biggrin.gif:
For your upcoming items, may I suggest that if you are doing anything with wooden handles, make them darker. Ala,
That's more than likely what will happen. Most things will have a tendency to be darker, more industrial and gadgety than the norm. Hope that sets your mind at ease.
Why does every update break the brick blocks and netherstone for me? The brick blocks wind up quartered, with each quarter showing a different image, and the netherstone shows as bright blue and flowing.
thanks!
This happens to all the HD texture packs because Notch's major updates replace the changes xau's MC Patcher makes to remove the graphical glitches. Just re-run the MC Patcher (see my note at the top of page 1 of this thread) and de-select custom water and lava for now until xau updates his patcher, or you will just get a black screen at start up. Everything else should still be ok, as far as I know.
I've taken to saving a copy of my Minecraft 'bin' folder now (as most of the recent updates have been for multi-player which doesn't interest me as much as single play) then when there's an update I swap out the updated 'bin' folder, put my old working one (with all my favourite mods) in it's place and everything is back to normal. Good luck! :smile.gif:
Ah! Need to deselect the water and lava! Yeah, was getting the black screen of death and having to delete the .bin folder to fix things. Alrighty, will do this eve. Thanks Glimmar, loving the pack.
Although... probably the one and only thing I'd complain about is the TnT... it doesn't look TnTish, to similar to the workbench for example. But then again, that's just me. A bomb-look would be interesting to say the least... wires and all that. :-)
I'll try to work on the crossbow when I get the chance, likely tomorrow.
Edit: now that I've made that pistol, I can't help but think of how it would work, I've already drawn up schematics and everything. The coolest part to me is that with my design the clip would fly out of the top of the gun when empty.
Now this sounds very interesting! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. :smile.gif:
Alright, well me being not too good at putting my ideas to paper, I can only tell you what I'm thinking. Maybe for the pick-axe, it could be a drill or jackhammer. Steam powered, of course. Both of those ideas are interchangeable with the shovel. Buckets could be made of brass or something. Also, just for fun, could you turn the ham into bacon? I mean come on, bacon is awesome.
I can only apologize that I haven't had more to say recently. Thankfully, the semester is almost over, and I'll have some time to myself again.

Oh, no need to apologise, just hope all has gone well with your studies. :smile.gif: Have missed all your excellent ideas, suggestions and pics though. The above pic being a good example! Fabulous piece of kit there. You can imagine how awesome that would look all brassed and baroqued up. Yes, a crossbow boltgun as a replacement for the bow would require the minimum of programme modification, as all the sounds and physics would need no real alteration for the contraption to work in a believable fashion. I think that will be one of the first things I'll have a go at when I start on the items sheet!

Thank you very much Triskelli. I have been lurking for the past couple of weeks, ever since I bought my copy of the game. I wasn't sure if this was my problem or a general issue, since I didn't find intel on that. I guess it will just be fixed eventually then.
It is a bit of a waste of surfaces, sadly! :sad.gif: I think it had something to do with the stairs being fixed, not quite sure why, but there was obiously a good coding reason for it.
When I eventually get round to working on the paintings, hopefully those wasted textures can be put back to good use. If these blocks are going to remain permanently single sided, then I will have to rethink what will be the best texture to represent them. Most probably something completely different than those I did originally. eg. For iron, something much more utilitarian like an iron 'grate' which would be good for both 'girder-like' bridgebuilding and supports, but also good for aerial walkways and vents, etc. Combined with the Netherplate it would give a staple set of industrial base blocks to which special mechanical painting textures could be added.
