Glimmar! Any ideas on when it will be compatible for 1.5? I can't stand not having your texture pack, especially the Glowstone and Iron blocks! The Quartz blocks look amazing by the way (despite their bugs). Best of luck to you !
Hello, good people! There is a great deal of work that the gentlemanly Mr. Glimmar needs must perform before his masterwork will be fully updated to conform to this most modern of standards.
Let us wait then, with 'bated breath, rather than drive him to drink and perdition with unseemly designs upon the time that he most generously dedicates to this texture pack of marvels!
Glimmar thanks for the awesome textures you have given us Steampunk fans it has made my vanilla minecrafting experience awesome.
A question to Ksheep, I know you have a compilation pack for other mods, namely FTB, but I would like to know if there is anyone working on, or planning to work on, one for Tekkit Lite. Any info would be greatly appreciated as mod packs have ruined my vanilla MC days.
Many thanks to all above who have commented with support and interest. I have quickly glanced over your posts and they are very encouraging and understanding. I will reply to each one where appropriate, when I can. I hope you can bear with me for a little longer, while I sort all this 1.5 jumble out...hence my longer than usual bouts of absence.
If it's any consolation, there really is a lot of new material in my next update: animations, ctm, new villagers, many upgraded textures...besides all the new 1.5 offerings. Lots of fixes have been necessary due to all the changes, but I've still not been able to sort out my ctm'd oak fence texture (it might work for you!) or quartz slab side texture, but it shouldn't in anyway mar your fun. I'm hoping you boffins out there can figure where it is I'm going wrong, then I'll put out an update along with the animated compass and clock, both of which will not be ready for v.11, they're just something I don't want to rush and spoil, but have some fun seeing if I can create something interesting. Mind you, 64x64 pixels isn't a lot to play around with for mechanical doodads and such...so we'll see what can be done.
For all those who like making Victorian style steampunk factories, giant machines or even exotic Byzantine style temples, you might very much like the new things coming soon. A vid will be in the offing too, but only a simple affair this time...so as not to inordinately delay things any longer than necessary.

I believe that Tekkit and FtB share a fair number of mods, and the mods that have been done so far are, for the most part, those shared. The reason I usually refer to it as FtB mod support is because, when I do whatever minimal testing before uploading (I really should try to test more, to find various issues, but don't have the time), I only test on FtB. You should still be able to use the textures for Tekkit Lite, following the same instructions. It won't be full support, but we don't have full support for FtB yet either…

Anyway, I hope that helps.
Awesome, I did use the FTB folder so it works out for the things that should work. Thank you for replying and I am happy to know things are still a WIP.
One thing I have noticed with the newer tekkit lite builds(no idea about FTB) is that some mods are changing their folder setup and textures aren't being loaded properly despite being there (IE, the copper, gold, etc cabling having a texture icon for inventory, but when placed its default MC textures) and this is sometimes due to folder names getting slightly changed or the subfolders being moved around. But as it is a WIP it may be as simple as the in world textures aren't done yet or I installed it wrong hehe.
Is there a forum dedicated to the compilation or is it strictly kept on the first page here? I am one that likes to keep track of things but if its just condensed to here thats fine, wanted to make sure I didn't miss a more dedicated place.
I love this texture pack! It really gives the feel of steampunk. The green minecarts i loved too! It gave the texture pack more color, but the grey minecarts blends in with the hopper (btw love the hopper).

Most mod textures are posted here by users of the pack, and I occasionally compile them and upload them when I have free time. Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of free time (almost considering passing the duty on to someone else if anyone is willing). Whenever I do upload a new version of the pack, Glimmar will change the link on the front page and will occasionally put a notification on the title as well.
As for broken textures, I wouldn't be surprised if a few things have had their folder names changed lately, and with 1.5 now out, I don't know what the mod creators are going to do. If they switch over to individual textures instead of sheets, it'll cause a bit more of a headache on the managing side of things (I may just suggest that anyone making mod textures for the pack upload a .zip file of the textures they've done, rather than several dozen individual 32x or 64x images that get renamed by the image host). I will probably throw up one more compilation of what's already done, but will then hold off until the modding shift to 1.5 calms down so we can see what the damage is there, and if it does become easier for the individual retexturers to upload, I'll suggest that we switch to that model and either step down or limit my involvement.
Turns out senior year at college is a bit of a handful
Alright, here it is, Version 0.6 of the Mod Compendium. I just went through and found everything that was submitted since the last compendium was uploaded, as well as a couple that I had been sent earlier but for some reason or another didn't get added, and put it together. I have not tested it as of yet, so if you see something wrong, please tell me. Also, if it is a mislabeled file, let me know which one and how to fix it, and I will do so as soon as possible.
Also, if I could get some help with testing the older mod textures, it would be greatly appreciated. As you will see, there are three folders, one for FtB and Tekkit compatible textures, one of older mod textures, and one of misc. unlabeled textures. I need several things done:
If you find any broken textures for the FtB/Tekkit textures, please let us know. Some of the texture sheets are out of date and may need tweaking, and the sooner we find out, the sooner we can fix it. I know of a few that are still missing (ComputerCraft still needs it's blink.png, I believe, and Portal is still out of date). If you find anything, let us know.
Second, if I could get some volunteers to look at the older textures and try them out with the latest version of the mods, it would be greatly appreciated. Let us know which textures still work and which are broken. We will try to either update or remove broken ones, and get the labeling up to current standards. We just need to know what works and what doesn't.
Third, can someone look at the Misc. file, figure out who submitted those, what mods they are for, what the proper file structure is, and whether they still work? One claims to be Enchanted Portals, another Wireless Redstone, but I'm not familiar with those or if they are even still valid. The others… I'm not sure what they are. I'm wanting to say possibly Millinaire, but I am not sure. If I could get verification on those, and some guidance as to what is still valid, it would be greatly appreciated.
The reason I'm asking for help is, as noted earlier, I don't have much free time, and nowhere near enough time to check each and every mod out there to make sure it works. Half the mods I can't even find without a lot of digging, and I frankly can't spend all my time digging for these mods to test textures…
Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and please feel free to comment if you find any pressing issues. As I noted earlier, depending on what the modders do for 1.5, I may propose we change how this is distributed in the future, but for the time being, enjoy.
EDIT: Just a note, Buildcraft does NOT work in this version (or the previous version). The file structure is set up wrong, and the textures are horribly out of date. I am working to fix this presently, and I hope to have something done shortly.
Glad you like those! I spent far too long getting those gates to look just right, and something tells me they are in major need of an update by now. I haven't checked as of late, but I think the 1.4.6 version of Buildcraft has new gates and pipes that aren't included there (although that may be from other mods, not sure). I'm now kinda tempted to take a look at this and update it if need be. Darn procrastination making excuses to avoid homework…
I'll go download GIMP and see what I can do
EDIT: Yeah, looking at Buildcraft, I realize that there is a fair bit that needs to be updated, and the file structure is completely different now. I've reorganized the files and will throw in some placeholder textures for the new stuff, will try to get the new textures up later tonight or possibly tomorrow with a new compendium. Sorry about that, everyone!
FURTHER EDIT: Alright, trying to get used to the GIMP interface, so used to Photoshop. I decided to scale up the blocks.png file to 64x rather than 32x, and I've so far made… one thing. The Emerald pipe. Still need the Autarchic gates, sandstone pipe, void pipe, and several items of which I have no idea what they are. Anyway, here's what I have for emerald pipe. I decided to change a few details on the pipe, making it look more rounded, and will eventually apply those changes to the old ones (hopefully). Anyway, enjoy:
Ok, I hope I haven't stepped on your toes VermillionTwilight, but I put together some support for the electrical engine from the forestry mod:
*SNIP*
Thanks, looks good! I'll add them into the compendium and give proper credit. Hopefully I'll have an updated version later today, even if I just put in some filler for the new Buildcraft stuff.
Alright, here's Version 0.6.1 of the Mod Compendium. I fixed up Buildcraft so it'll actually work properly now, although I only added a few new textures (Emerald and Sandstone pipes). I also fixed the engines, as their textures had been shifted slightly in a previous update. Various other items are currently filler, but I hope to get to them… sometime next week. Unfortunately, my schedule is completely booked up through Sunday…
Furthermore, we have more textures for ComputerCraft, created by Blanco_Meneige and building off of VermillionTwilight's work in that area. We now have a rather good looking GUI for a fair number of the ComputerCraft devices, although I have been experiencing some odd behavior with the monitor. They are included in the above download, and if anyone can figure out how to get the monitor to work properly, it would be greatly appreciated.

ksheep, thanks so much for all the efforts you've put into the above. After my forced absence, I've quickly glanced back over the last few posts and read about the pressures of work in your final year. I well understand if you're unable to carry on due to RL pressures...which of course must always come first, as you've kindly always advised me, but I can't think of anyone else who would do the job as well or as loyally as you have. You have been an absolute diamond and I hope you can continue to be the mainstay here in my absence, even if you have to be away for months at a time. However, I will always understand if other projects/pastimes take over or if you'd rather move on to other things. However, you will without question always be welcome around here as a legendary supporter.
Over the past couple of years I have come to depend on your excellent advice to users of the pack...indeed, myself many times over...and your unwavering support in the field of mod support here, and I hate to think I may have taken advantage of your good nature...which I'm sure I have.
I still hope to make more of the Mod Support section by giving it the prominence it deserves and giving more visible credit to all contributors, especially yourself and Vermillion, but trying to keep up with all MC changes (and sadly I don't get any faster at that task) and RL, means that my best intentions often get thwarted. I've been thinking along the lines of turning the Mod Support section into something along the lines ofa Victorian Emporium...kind of a Shopping Centre/Mall with all the various mods represented as virtual shop windows. Quite how my overburdened OP will cope may be problematical, but I still have way too much stuff up there. There may just not be sufficient interest to warrant a lot of extra work, but I'm open to any suggestions on this, though again you'll have to bear with me, because of updates and such.
I really wait for the next version of your pack, it's my favorite since i started minecraft, 2 years ago.
You're doing a wonderful job.
Thanks, Guanfei. I do my best, but I'm painfully aware of just how slow I am.
*******************************************
The big change to 1.5 has been quite a challenge during a hectic period in my RL. Burning the candle at both ends has resulted in me getting pretty sick recently. I ended up needing to just go to ground and catch up on some much needed sleep for a couple of days. You think you can ignore sleep indefinitely sometimes, especially when you get on a roll with some good work, but there's always payback later...and I paid big time!
I'm hoping to put up some GS 64x v.11 vid/s very soon, shortly followed by the 64x Update. There's just a little work to finish on the CTM front, specifically the quartz stair block. However, by painstaking experimentation I managed to solve the problem I was having with my quartz slab and my oak fence...little things, but extremely annoying to be reminded of such flaws when trying to make improvements in so many other areas.
Also, when TMI is updated, I will be able to update to 1.5.1 and finally have use of my paintings again. Paintings having been broken in 1.5 was rather annoying, as I had a couple of rather useful new animated versions I wasn't able to properly show off.
Oh, I will definitely stay here on the forum and continue supporting in that way. I'm just not sure about the time needed to stay on top of the mods, especially with the changes to how textures are handled. Whereas previously users could just post a couple texture sheets and I could compile them in a folder, now each mod would have dozens of individual textures. As such, it would be easier for each supporter to make and upload a zip file of the textures, although this may end up putting more work on you…
One possible solution, which goes along with your Emporium suggestion, may be to create a seperate thread (tied directly to this one, of course) where mod textures can be uploaded. The OP of said thread could be easily updated with the latest submissions, and sample images of each mod can also be added. This would also make it easier for users, downloading only the textures they need, rather than a 50MB file of everything. I believe that I could find time to manage that, if it would be easier for you. Of course, this wouldn't take effect until the modders update to 1.5, and the retexturers then need to update the textures…
@ksheep:
I remember final year as one the most enjoyable since I was not only working as a Jr. Engineer but also got to work of some kicking radar research. We also got to design and build some ICs (yes, I'm a dinosaur). Graduate school gets to be even more of a time suck since you have to work on projects as well as classes.
Now as then, I really don't function well without at least 6 hrs sleep.
@Glimmar:
Too many years of 18+ hrs working on projects to keep schedule wore me out. I found that I needed to become a lot more firm about compromising on schedule so I wouldn't get pinched in the final month to need to put out that much effort. (Not to mention that every time I did that, I never got any additional compensation for the gobs of hrs spent working).
Health and family are the most important things in life. With Jeb and crew making changes still, it's too much of a moving target to get 1.5.* settled. Of course the lack of documentation really cause a lot of wasted time. Hope you can relax a bit over the weekend.

I'd kind of been toying with the idea of asking you about that, but thought it might be asking even more of you. However, thinking about it, from my perspective, it would actually be a lot easier and would allow me to concentrate better on the business of making the core pack what it should be. In turn it should also result in a better looking Emporium display, with plenty of space in a new OP to really do the work justice. It would give you and all those who contribute more space to breath and get the proper credit due for the all the hard work you've put into the mod support.
Obviously conditions of use for my textures would still apply over in a new thread and would need to be outlined over there, but let's thrash out some details via PM, sheep. Have a think about what you might do this weekend, which will give me a little more time to beat this next update of mine into submission. Of course any graphics here or from the pack directly, where necessary, could be used under licence in decorating the new OP you create. Permissions would be exclusive to just your thread, so things don't spiral out of control. It might seem grandiose of me to say, as no-one might be interested, but I don't want everyone to think it's a free-for-all to set up satellite threads using my textures. Yours would be the official 'ksheep's Glimmar Mod Emporium' (sorry that's really not a hint as to what you should call it. ) The Glimmar's Steampunk pack would of course still only be available from here (or after this next update perhaps directly via the Curse download widget rather than MediaFire).
Starting a separate mod support thread that way, should make it a lot easier for yourself to organize help and submissions, so should benefit everyone...not least myself.
Thanks, sheep, I'm certainly glad you're able to stick around.

I absolutely agree with everything you say there. My problem I guess, is that I really enjoy the sense of discovery and presentation in making new things to show, but I have to remember Minecraft is infinitely expandable and intriguing, made up of many users born into an age of almost instant gratification and seemingly lacking in any kind of patience. Not the majority of my pack users I hasten to add!
Minecraft being a leisure activity also slightly complicates the work/play balancing act, in that many don't see modding activities as really 'hard' work sometimes, and unlike many youngsters out there, who seem to equate 'speed' with 'good' work...being slow and fairly considered isn't really to my advantage these days.
I've always counted myself fortunate in this thread, in that I'm blessed with a good proportion of sensible folk, like yourself, ksheep and many others. Otherwise I think I might have bowed out under the pressure long ago. Thanks, ChooChoo!

- If you find any broken textures for the FtB/Tekkit textures, please let us know. Some of the texture sheets are out of date and may need tweaking, and the sooner we find out, the sooner we can fix it. Glad you like those! I spent far too long getting those gates to look just right, and something tells me they are in major need of an update by now. I haven't checked as of late, but I think the 1.4.6 version of Buildcraft has new gates and pipes that aren't included there (although that may be from other mods, not sure). Curse Premiumksheep, thanks so much for all the efforts you've put into the above.
Thanks, Guanfei.

@Glimmar:

Curse PremiumI'd kind of been toying with the idea of asking you about that, but thought it might be asking even more of you.
