However, In my case I usually run into an even bigger problem...but seriously it's very easy to get stuck in a cycle of trying out just one more idea. That blind determination actually worked for the standard quartz block, but I realize there are too many aspects of block metadata my mind just cannot grasp when I'm tired and rushed with other things, to solve the quartz slab conundrum. As has been suggested over at the Texture Artist's Union, where I also put the question, and was already suspecting myself, perhaps MC Patcher just hasn't caught up with all the last minute changes that Mojang keep pushing out.
When everything has settled down after the 1.5 launch and everyone has a copy of my next update (V11) to test, then it will hopefully be easier for me to approach The_Fool76 for a possible solution. He's always got the answer...but I realize I put on him too much.
Don't fret too much about poking me. I'm just happy I can repay you for this wonderful thought provoking pack of yours.
Unfortunately SimCity has sort of absconded with my soul recently so I've not taken the time to poke the latest versions of MC Patcher. I really need to play with the new biome options and nested properties, that looks like so much fun. Being able to change the random stuff that shows up based on the biome makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Hello folks, nice to be here again after so many months.
your pack continues to amaze me,but since i run 180 mods i dont use your mod because of the lack of mod support, anyway, im not here to talk about all my mods.
i love all the work you've put into your pack and i have a small surprise for you all
a lot of stuff has happened, im a modeller with a lot of models used in mods ,and since i love this pack so much i really want to texture them so they look steampunk'ish! i'll startwith my Gravitygun.(ichuns gravitygun)
Hello, mr. Glimmar, my name is Rexacorax. I am slightly new (joined the forum three hours ago), but I've been playing Minecraft and using your texture pack for a while. It is, in fact, the only texture pack I use. Firstly, I wanted to say that your texture pack is a brilliant. Secondly, I wanted to say I am sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation for your latest update. Finally, I'd like to ask.... well, would it be imprudent to use your steampunk banner on other forums?
When I turned Minecraft on today, I was horrifed that the texture pack didn't work! I thought I had screwed something up! But then I found out that they just seperated the files to make it easier for texture makers. So now I am eagerly waiting for your update to this great pack! I can't wait!
I am a long time lurker who has greatly enjoyed using your texture pack in the past (to much the confusion of others on SMP who aren't), and was trying to grab of copy of your version 11 pre-release, but the links on the first posting do not exist. Did you pull it down intentionally, or am I just missing the obvious?
Edit: I apparently failed my "learn to read" ability. Page 516... right there in the title... found it. *sigh*
Haha! No problem. It might not be a lot of use at the mo'. If Mojang hadn't suddenly introduced a new system of animation .txt instructions a couple of snapshot updates ago, my temporary 1.5 snapshot version would still have been usable now!
My favorite texturepack and I dont like too many texture packs. Great work and keep it up!
Many thanks for those words of encouragement. At times like these, when I'm tearing my hair out to get things finished for an update, I appreciate any supportive comments.
So, you know how back in Nov/Dec we learned how FTB allowed you to have a separate install of minecraft? I found another program that will allow you as many installs of minecraft on your system as you want. Each one can be a different release or have different mods attached. That might be a good way to go to test snapshots without going through the trouble of manually swapping out your minecraft.jar. It's called MultiMC and found here. It makes it really easy to keep track of what install has what version.
I've heard of MultiMC...just never had time to try any mods out other than MC Patcher and TMI. I just keep backups of each MC Snapshot, MC Patcher and TMI that comes along, then I can easily revert back if needs be. Many thanks for the suggestion...I will try to have a closer look at that one.
I hope whatever final version you come out with is compatible with vanilla 1.5 like it was with some of the snapshots. The administrator controls on my computer for downloading things are really strict; I was lucky to be able to download Minecraft itself, so I'm hoping I can enjoy your awesome texture pack without downloading MC patcher.
Hopefully it should. All the terrain and item animations will work as normal without MC patcher, but you will of course miss any ctm'd blocks (and I think there are some very nice ctm'd quartz blocks you'll miss the sense of. )or extra animations on guis, mobs and all the other extras. Glad you like the pack though.
This looks absolutely fantastic. This may very well usurp the Painterly Pack for me. Excellent work.
I'm really diggin' the lamps, doors, and crafting table.
There's a fair few changes in my next update, but for a while they will only be available in the 64x version of my pack. I will need a very special infusion of enthusiasm to carry all the changes over to my 32x version.
Don't fret too much about poking me. I'm just happy I can repay you for this wonderful thought provoking pack of yours.

Ah! Many thanks, mate. I'm just setting aside any of those CTM problem areas. They're not game breaker things...just little refinements and niggles, but I would very much value any advice, when I get v. 11 up and running.
My eldest son is sat not many feet away from me now, trying his best to get me to play SimCity5, for multiplay purposes. I'm awfully tempted, but if I did, I wouldn't be very popular around here. I'll treat myself later...even if that means I'll miss out on the free game they're currently offering. I could buy it now and play later, but I'm worried I might not play later.

Hiya, d95.
180 mods!!! Blimey!
Any and all mod support is welcome...of course subject to my conditions in my 'Mod Support' section. Hopefully ksheep will be able to pick up on anything you do for his mod pack compilation. Many thanks to you both.

Replying in reverse order: as ItsHunter says, it would help very much if you used my banner elsewhere. That's kindof what it's there for and you would have my sincere thanks for flying it for the attention of others.
I'll try not to keep you waiting too long.
I'm very glad you think my old pack still has some worth and I'm sincerely grateful you've taken the time to say.
Welcome to the forum and more specifically to my thread here.
I am on pins and needles waiting and hoping for an update for your texture pack Glimmar... the only one I like out there... amazing creation!
A few things to finish off yet, but an update for official MC 1.5 is on the way. That's the positive out of the way. The negative is that the last few things involve a lot of animation and therefore are tedious and slow and real life is impinging greatly too!

Haha. I know that things were changed for 1.5 to make things easier for us texture artists and users, but as mentioned above, Mojang, kind of screwed things up with the sudden introduction of .txt files required for all animations in the new 'textures' folder. Without those files you can't just update the pack using MC's or MC Patcher's updater facilities and carry on with vanilla MC textures filling the gaps! I haven't got time to update my temporary snapshot version with the necessary .txt files now...better to carry on with the proper v.11 update. Hopefully when my update is complete enough, you will think it worth the wait.
**************************************
And what am I doing wasting time here, you are all probably asking?! Well...just having a quick break for the sake of my sanity! Trying to make animations do what you want them to do, isn't always the easiest of tasks, especially when you're trying to make them appear somewhat believable.
So my genuine apologies for the delay. There are a few things to finish off yet, but an update for official MC 1.5 is certainly on the way. That's the positive out of the way. The negative is that the last few things involve a lot of animation and therefore are tedious and slow and real life is impinging greatly too and I still need to make a little vid to show off the new stuff (necessary as proof of ownership further down the line)!
Back to the grind stone! If I'm slow to return, it's not due to loss of interest...rather just circumstances preventing me completing things satisfactorily for an update.
Logged in to say that although there are a lot of great texture packs out there, yours is the one I use. I think the imagination and skill employed are a cut above the rest. Like everyone here, I am waiting for the update! But of course I understand there are other priorities out there. Hate the thought of you getting so wrapped up in this you get sick of it. Take what time you need. Soon is soon enough.
Calm down people, there's something like twenty blocks that were added, that's fourty new things, plus they add support of animation, and lava and waters works different now.
Mojang basically made obsolete all TPs before 1.5. TP makers have to do more then make a few block.
I updated mine last night and it's EIGHT BIT and took me 6 hours. And mine aint no Glimmar's Steampunk
You want it amazing, or fast?
This may be the most unsubstantial change to Minecraft ever. When I last looked the only notable thing that was remotely updated, was a prereleace for MCpatcher. (wich has to be finished before we can even use this) The pre-releace actually works, if you were wondering.
You get to the update when you can. I've got a couple Android games in the works that I put a few hours in the week on. The slowest bits is doing the graphics. I've spent hours fiddling with a 32x64 block. I know how long it takes to get the minecraft blocks just right. I've played with the brick textures in yours and John Smith's pack to get the look I was wanting for a few days off and on.
As much as I like the SimCity of the past, I'll wait a bit for the new one. Not particularly happy about the always online DRM protection ala Blizzard. The curved streets and dedicated cities were something that I've wanted for a few versions now, so that may be enough for me to pick up the new version some time in the future.
Here's some snaps of the Mine / Foundry area on my creative world:
Overview of the Foundry and Mineshaft area:
More below:
Furnace floor of the Foundry:
Furnace Detail:
The furnace was modeled after a Victorian one that I came across some years ago. Iron ore and coke are loaded into the top of the chamber. The water jacket moderates the temperature so the ore gets to the melting point. Water flows out of the jacket to power a bellows that increase the airflow in the chamber.
Slag is removed to the right off the top of the molten iron in the crucible. Molten iron is drawn out of the left side bottom.
The tracks on top are automated to deliver material from the minefloor. The tracks in front remove the pig iron out and transfer it to the elevated line to be delivered to the storehouse.
I'll have to see how much more automation I can get working with the new update.
The slowest bits is doing the graphics. I've spent hours fiddling with a 32x64 block. I know how long it takes to get the minecraft blocks just right.
You got it brotha' I'll spend two hours on one set (wood, Machines, Restone) think they look perfect load them up and they look like crap in three dimensions. I can't imagine doing textures at 64x especially something like marble, that's ornate. Glimmar's is the only non 16x i'll use, because is a full and he takes his time.
I'd rather wait forever for it to up date, and it be perfect, then rush him, and he not be happy with the work...

I was having issues with my client not cleeking correctly, so I blanked my .minecraft, backed up the mods and texturepack folders, but I forgot my worlds. SO I'm starting from scratch. Lost my scale model of the Giza Platue, that I've been working for a year lol.
When he gets done I'll rebuild my Church and post it. It's a complex inspired by Trinity Blood. :)=
Does this pack still feature the diving helmet that is shown on the front page? If so, how do you get it?
Thanks
