There could be many reasons why Green is the steampunk color.
Many machines and tools of the Steampunk/Victorian era were made using copper, bronze and brass. All of which contain high levels of copper, that when exposed to fire/burned, produces a green flame. Since the Torches in Glimmar's Steampunk appear to be made in-part of what appears to be brass, i'd suspect that's where the green flame comes from.
Green ocean water is common in colder parts of the world.
Ah, interesting... That answer satisfied him for now. Thank you. =)
By the way, has anyone made any serious attempts to work on the Thermal Expansion mod or Thaumcraft 3? or am I the only one who has actually made materials for Thaumcraft with Steampunk textures?
Page 500? O.O
Wow... my mind boggles at the vast reams of arcane lore contained within this thread now.
The sheer weight of it presses at my mind like the vast inky depths of the ocean.
Grats Glimmar on a Great Pack!
May your boilers continue to bubble and your cogs turn till the end of days.

To the best of my knowledge, 3D items already work just fine. I haven't had any trouble with them at least. And the slabs work without a new texture, just like all the others. Not sure what he's got in mind for the fireworks or enchanting books, though.
Wow.
I haven't checked on this in a while, it's certainly grown.
Might I request a file for all the new mod support? Having to scavenge through the posts is kind of annoying and tedious.
I will try to get something up soon. Unfortunately, I have been away from my computer for the last week or so, and probably won't be able to get much work done until sometime next week. Sorry.
Hey Glimmer have you started working on fireworks,Nether half slabs, enchanting books, and or 3D items?
Unfortunately, Glimmar said he will be taking a break for the time being, probably won't get back at this until January unless there is something major released. However, as has been noted, the 3D and slabs should work just fine as is. My main question is whether the fireworks have a texture or if they are hard-coded.
@Vermillion: Nice work on the rails, as always. I'll be sure to add them to the mod pack... as soon as I get back to my computer. The one critique I have: the junction tracks could be edited a bit to be a bit more realistic. It seems as though some sections of track appears out of nowhere, and the wheels might have some trouble passing through a steel bar
@Glimm: Sorry to hear about the illness. Feel free to take as much time off as you need. Hope you get better soon, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

How the hell did you forget the fact that brass, bronze and copper oxidize into green?
And that in the time of the Industrial Revolution, the water was polluted like crazy, making it green?
Surely those would be the most obvious reasons?

Yo dawg I heard you like playing Portal so now you can play Portal while playing Minecraft while going to Hell.

Dude, forgetting the fact that he did in fact say they create a green flame which is just as valid, chill out. Just because someone didn't provide the "right" reasons doesn't mean you need to throw a fit about it. Both are correct, it doesn't matter which is more obvious or not.
Figured I'd put this here as well as I think this may save some of us a few headaches.
Dinnerbone just recently tweeted a link to a tool to convert packs to 1.5's new format.
Texture-pack authors! Here's a handy tool that I wrote to try to turn your packs to a 1.5 format. Helps to prepare! http://assets.minecr...nstitcher.jar …

Hmm, I just noticed that the CTM grass isn't showing up in my game. All of the other CTM stuff works fine, but the grass texture doesn't ever have any of the little flowers or other varieties like it shows in the CTM folder... It all just looks the same. Is this something on my end, or is that particular thing currently not working for anyone?
Are you using Optifine instead of the MCPatcher? While similar, they don't offer exactly the same visual features, with Optifine noticeably not supporting random CTM yet, apparently.
I was wondering if anyone was gunna do buildcraft advanced power systems addon with steampunk textures.i use most if not all the mods this texture supports and i love how my factories and my house look but i recently added APS and it looks out of whack. Thank you for your time and keep up the good work cuz ill be using thi texture till i stop playing minecraft! (which is never)

Yes, I'm using Optifine. All of the other random CTM bits are working though. It's just the grass that isn't. I figured if it was Optifine all of the CTM stuff wouldn't work. I guess it must just be stuffing up somewhere on the grass... Not much I can do though if it's Optifine. I'm on an aging laptop and Optifine really helps out how well the game runs for me. ^^; I guess I'll just have to wait for Opifine to update with better support for random CTM.
Two other people and I are currently working on updating Pchan3's Airship mod to 1.4.6 with Multiplayer support. Would you mind if we used your textures? Of course, credit will be given.
Cheers

I haven't touched Thaum yet. It's not in FTB yet, so i'll stick with what's in there now.
