The biggest difference I see is in the second bar. That rectangle and circle on the top of the bar aren't there in the first bar, and it looks like there are markings on the front facing side of the bar.
Hey, this has nothing at all t do with the current conversation, but I wanted to ask glimmar and Tlos if i could upload an edited version of Tlos' harpoon gun. I did some playing around on Paint.net and came up with something pretty good, I think. I just wanted permission before uploading it, to avoid any conflict.
Also, Glimmar, I have a forum thread to showcase my airships and I would like to ask for permission to put an edited version of your texture.png on my thread to go with my world save.

Unfortunately, Glimmar appears to be away at the moment, and I don't think anyone here knows where he is. He usually checks in every few days, but it's been the better part of a week now… But to answer your questions:
As Glimmar usually doesn't allow for redistribution of his pack outside of this thread, your request to post it on a different thread would normally be denied. However, as you are only looking to distribute a modified texture.png file, you may be allowed to, but wait for confirmation from Glimmar. I believe that he has allowed for similar things, usually for mods, provided that you give clear credit and link back here (and no monetizing it via ad.fly or other sites). However, if he doesn't allow for this, you should still be allowed to post it directly on here and either link to the post or ask Glimmar to include it in the Extras folder.
As for the harpoon gun, Glimmar doesn't mind if you make and post such things here on the thread. Permission from Tlos, on the other hand, may be a bit harder to come by, as he hasn't been on the forums at all since August. However, I do know he has allowed reuse of his textures in the past, and as long as proper credit is given and it is posted in this thread, it should be fine.
Hopefully Glimmar will come on soon so you can figure out permissions for posting on your thread, but I believe it would be safe for you to post here (with proper credit, of course) for the time being. Oh, and please make sure that all textures on the modified texture sheet are either from this pack (either directly from Glimmar or submitted by fans) or original creations. We don't want a repeat of the last couple pages on our hands
Still working on my Zeppelin - work has slowed to a crawl though - getting the tapers is fiddly and ssllooww.... (Here, sheepy, sheepy, sheepy....) I had to build some scaffolding just to reach the areas that I need to work on.

Thanks, the texture.png is mostly glimmar's standard but with a few of the blocks switched out with alternates from the pack. I will wait for permission from glimmar before I do anything with it.
Here is the harpoon gun, it is 64 bit so it will not work with 32 bit items, sorry. The original design was by Tlos, I just edited it and added a few of my own things like to steam pressure guage and the barrel for the harpoon.

First my youngest caught Chickenpox and needed a lot of attention and then through lack of sleep I caught something nasty too and that has laid me pretty low I can tell you. Minecraft and my pack seem very insignificant concerns at the moment and the run-up to Christmas doesn't help either with a family to maintain and work piling up.
Regarding the disputed mod support textures:
VermillionTwilight, I agree with JesterMailMan that the use of the word 'stolen' might not have been the best introduction when uploading such an excellent set of FTB support textures, even if proven to be true. A slightly more gentlemanly approach in the first instance might have sufficed, but we all have different ways of approaching things and you didn't accuse anyone directly. I'm also certainly not the one to lecture anyone on being gentlemanly when it comes to finding my stuff being used elsewhere without my permission, as regulars here will testify. However, I don't wish to alienate anyone in this thread for the sake of a few disputed textures...especially when it can so easily be remedied.
I also don't really want to act as 'judge and jury' on anyone, especially as I count many of you and CuZnDragon as good MC Forum friends. I believe like many of us, we make lots of stuff for personal use and as often happens with lots of Indie games and Open Source, edits get uploaded for 'sharing' not necessarily for personal glory or an official download pack.
However, this is Minecraft, and original textures are a closely guarded thing that reputations for originality and style are built upon. These in-game arrangements of pixels, though only small and seemingly insignificant, are extremely valuable to both the creator who made them and users within this MC community. Small as they are, hours can be spent making a few pixels look right. I've spent days over just one 32x32 arrangement of pixels and still not been happy, while my wife has walked past me scratching her head in puzzlement! [If you've struggled to get something right, you know what I'm on about]. So I well understand when someone gets protective over original Minecraft artwork. I've been 'over-the-top' with my own reactions to others 'purloining' my stuff in the past, after which I'm always somewhat ashamed. This is because I very quickly 'see red' whenever I think someone might be taking advantage of all the effort I've put in over the years. It usually happens around update time when I pace around and start howling at the moon!
But what we have here is not the crime of the century and I hate to see someone being discussed in this way if all they were doing was casually trying to help. However, this affair helps reiterate the point that absolutely nothing should be used from another texture pack, even if permission is granted or the pack has been officially abandoned...it's just not worth the confusion, plus it dilutes the style or feel of this pack...not that I have any grandiose ideas that my work has a style to it!
I'm as much to blame here for wanting to satisfy everyone's hunger for complimentary textures for their favorite mods by opening things up to contributions. The sensible part of my brain says keep it simple, as I really don't have the wherewithal or will to satisfy everyone's hunger for the latest dream mod, neither do I have the time to get to know each of the mods, deal with situations and correspondence, etc. and still find some time to enjoy building stuff and attempt to make my weird pointless movies (strangely to give reason to all the effort of building I suppose! Mmm...Hope I'm not stuck in a nightmare or something!!??).
I'm also to blame for encouraging all and sundry contributions to be included in the mod support pack, even when I know nothing about said mods, and those contributions may not necessarily have been uploaded for 'official' download purposes.
From my own experience I do know that some online reference images are very rare, in particular gold bars...I can still remember how difficult it was to find something suitable for my 32x gold bar, and at the right angle to use as inspiration and reference. I can easily conceive of a situation in which LB and CuZnDragon's ingot/bars were derived from the same source. The problem is that when you have to reduce your source image down to a small box and angle it so that it best fits that format...usually isometric... then things can often turn out pretty similar if derived from the same image.
As an example, when I made my version of the new MC carrot and gold carrot I chose a great number of carrot images off Google as inspiration and cobbled together my own version...and yes it was hand-drawn...but because it was 64x I was able to make it more realistic and thought I'd better check how it compared to other versions and you'd be surprised how similar it is to a number of carrots out there. Yet I can categorically assure everyone that my carrot was hand-drawn from 4 or 5 different carrots with the shape of the carrot 'top' coming from other images I had on my desktop.
My new pig mob, still not released yet (by the way I now have 14 new Pig ZombieMen based on it!), has been compared to Misa's (in a complimentary way, I hasten to add!). However, because I wanted to make something more 'realistic', 'Victorian' and 'domestically' pig-like, and it has to fit MC's limited blocky format, you'd be surprised how 'similar-ish' it looks to a Misa pig...even though not one single pixel in my image was lifted from any of her pigs, neither did I use any of her pigs for reference. My new pig is completely hand-drawn by looking at lots of different piggy images off Google. Things like snouts and eyes have a very limited area in which to be positioned in the template if you want your pig to look realistic...shift those features by only a couple of pixels and the pig just looks weird or overly stylized. The fact that Misa has 500 pig breeds sewn up in her pack doesn't make the process any easier! By the way, that's supposed to be a compliment, not a complaint! The point I'm making is that it is entirely possible even with the best will in the world to end up with an image that has similarities to something else. It's all a case of putting in the effort, maintaining artistic integrity and not taking advantage of the hard work of others simply because a computer makes it easy.
Anyways, I haven't the energy at the moment, nor do I feel it's my responsibilty, to investigate whether or not CuZnDragon's ingot came from another pack or both ingots where derived from the same Google image. If I have to get involved to that degree for each and every disputed texture, I'd rather roll the mod support side of things up, not allow any contributions or support textures at all and keep things simple, because in my present frame of mind I'm finding it difficult to get enthusiastic about my own work, let alone deal with administering the work of others. ksheep has been remarkably kind to compile everyone's contributions, so I don't wish to put pressure on him either as the arbiter of what's original or not, but I trust him to be fare if it comes down to someone having to make a decision if I'm not around.
CuZnDragon, as there is some confusion over the ingots, perhaps it would be better to take them out of the mod support download at this stage, and anything else which might be a possible source of dispute, such as placeholders which are fine for personal use, but which under the terms of my conditions should really be removed before being made available for distribution. I can't really say what should and shouldn't be removed, because I just don't know enough about the mods or textures in question. Might I suggest for ksheep's benefit that he takes out the disputed ingots for now and you re-submit them when you feel any necessary edits have been made to satisfy all parties and to keep the peace. I'm trying to be politic here and obviously failing miserably. I really don't wish to spoil your enjoyment of Minecraft and your long term support for this pack, neither do I wish to offend VermillionTwilight's artistic sensibilites which are commendable if a little harshly put in the first instance.
To put this in some kind of context, Glimmar's Steampunk in it's entirety, not just one texture, has been 'stolen' many times over (not sure why really at the moment), often by kids not realising the importance of original work, but also by others who should know better. It's even got to the stage that I'm avoiding putting my texture pack up on Planet Minecraft, because I know some of my textures are still out there in other packs, which have now become popular and I don't wish to subject myself to the inevitable accusations from loyal fans accusing me of stealing my own textures. How ridiculous a situation is that to be in? Painful nonetheless.
My entire pack gets redistributed on other Minecraft websites all the time...without my permission! The fact I don't ask for donations or use adfly might raise the question, "So what does it matter?". Well, as I mention in my OP now, I count visitors here as being very important and my MC Forum visitor figures are the only measure I use to judge how popular the pack is and whether or not to continue to support it. Every webmaster or servermaster(?) or adventure map creator who links directly to my MediaFire or Rapidshare download, or worse, their own download link, even though it still bears the name 'Glimmar's Steampunk', denies me my only visible reward and incentive to carry on.
To add to this, I'm currently considering having a simple link in my OP that takes any interested user direct to a charity website that's very important to me (assuming this idea fits within the rules of this forum and the charity in question thinks it's appropriate). Therefore, any 'outside' direct links to my downloads rather than to my thread here, might be the loss of a worthy donation to a good cause.
Having this sort of charity link means I personally won't have received and will not receive one penny for my efforts on Glimmar's Steampunk, but hopefully my work over the past two years will not have been entirely wasted. Having a direct link will also mean I do not need to personally get involved in dealing with any donation or see what people might give and I will not be obligated work-wise in any way. I'm not expecting anything great will come out of this (I really would have no way of knowing either), but at least there'd be the thought in the back of my head that someone might have given something to a worthy cause for the fun they had with the pack. As everything is anonymous, everyone can carry on and download the pack as always without any pressure whatsoever. I'm talking about a charitable organisation that was of great help with necessary and supportive advice to my family when my youngest was born.
FTB
By the way, 'Feed the Beast' absolutely amazed and terrified me in equal measure! After a couple of days messing around and goggling at all the extra stuff (before succumbing to nerve warfare when I got sick!), it actually got me to quite a low point (or it could just have been my illness I suppose!), because I could see there was no way I could ever satisfy my artistic tendencies for getting things to look right, nor texture for everything on offer in something like FT Beast...I just take way too long over each texture. Hence why I really do have to hand that side of things over to you guys. You're just so much faster than I could ever be! Heck...you'd probably all be in fits of laughter if you could see how much I panic when we get just small updates from Mojang...my other half and offsprings certainly have a great laugh! It takes me ages to get a grip on how it will effect my pack and how I'll get the level of thematic detail in there somewhere to my satisfaction...and it looks like it's not going to get any easier...if I even get my motivation back...
Apart from feeling very poorly still and no energy or enthusiasm for texturing of any kind at the moment, I've also got really self critical of not just my old 32x stuff, but also some of my recent 64x ctm block textures, especially when seen at a distance. In recuperating, I've been doing some building on my little city of Newglim, and I've just not been happy with the amount of 'moire' patterns I'm seeing at a distance and I simply ain't got the drive at the mo' to go back over and do anything about it.
I gather there is likely to be another official MC update in January or February next year, so I'm going to try and have a break until then...get fat on mince pies and turkey and hope Father Christmas brings me a box of enthusiasm or something. If I get jumped by the muse and I'm fighting fit, I'll update with the things I've done so far. I'll also look out for any updated mod pack from ksheep, just so that it's available on the front page.
I'm sorry I wasn't born with the wisdom of Solomon for sorting out disputes, but I hope we can all get back to the business of being polite ladies and gentlemen and enjoy the process of moulding Minecraft to suit our own aesthetic, especially as we approach the festive season. My sincere apologies for being a misery guts...It's as good a way as any to get in the Christmas mood...but I realize you guys don't come round here to hear me moan and drone!
See you all in the New Year...if not before, and have a great break too, whatever your faith or persuasion.

@ asikar:
I don't allow redistribution of my pack or parts of it from anywhere other than my thread (I get too many PM's from people who are using old or adapted versions of my pack accusing me of making a pack that doesn't work!). However, ksheep's suggestion to post your edited terrain sheet here is the most ideal for me, as users of your maps and visitors to your thread would get to see your edits in the context of the rest of the complete pack here and also it's history.
So you are most welcome to edit things and link to the edit in a post here. That way I don't miss out on any visitors for my hard work and you get to edit and update things without having to wait around for me to put it in the OP or anything. Though at some point I'd love to put a link to your maps/airship builds in my OP.
@ ksheep: That suggestion was a stroke of pure genius...many thanks! If anyone else asks something similar while I'm away, then please do point that out as a solution, especially to those wishing to make adventure maps with edited GS texture features.

Thank you for answering, and it does make sense. You have your work to protect, and i completely understand. I'll post the texture.png up here and put a link to it and the OP on my thread. My ships just don't look the same made out of cobblestone. Thanks again for permission.
This post has nothing whatsoever with the current conversation but this is an edited terrain.png for my forum thread Asikar's Airships.
For those who want to use this pack in conjunction with my world please open this spoiler save the image as terrain.png and place it into the pack folder to replace the standard terrain.png. Also this .png will be updated with any future updates of the pack.
and here is the animation for the jukebox edit that i use
For those who need to know, I do have permission to do this.

To tell you the truth I didn't really care about the images being changed as some of them are quite better replacements.
My issue was saying that I stole them when I didn't. I am very aware of copyright and such. Not only as it applies to the graphics but I also work on a Linux distribution and have to be aware of all many of the different licenses out there.
That being said I have already decided not to be contributing to the mods textures anymore as this has soured me on the whole thing.
I will still continue to use your texture pack as it is the best I have tried but will not share any of the mod texture I create.
Hey sorry but it isn't working for me? I downloaded the ported version for PE, unzipped it, opened iExplorer with my ipod plugged in, went to com.mojang.minecraftpe > minecraftpe.app. I dragged and dropped the files into there. When I dropped terrain.png it asked if I wanted to replacec the existing file. I clicked yes, waited for it to load (bottom bar in the corner), closed everything, loaded up minecraft, but none of the blocks were there. Help please? I opened the instructions, which said " Drag&Drop all files of the "PocketBDcraft iOS" folder inside iExplorer" but I do not have such a folder. Any help would be grealy appreciated and thanks for the GORGEOUS pack!
Normally I wouldn't ask something like this but, that harpoon gun is just what I have been looking for! Ive been looking for a replacement to my upgraded crossbow for BTW but have been failing with my own creativity. I respectfully ask asikar and Tlos if I could use it for my own pack. All credit will be given but if you do not wish to let me use it I understand. I simply am amazed by that work!

Did these a while ago and never posted. More IC2 support for completely unsupported textures. I might upgrade them in future sometime.

Last msg in the video, sounds are not in the game. only the visual effects are added. Those sounds and just for show, and then some of it is great music by various bands (My favourite of which is "The Vernian Process")
Should also note that adding the sounds isn't as easy as just adding them to the appropriate folders. There are mods for that, Matmos being one of them.
Loving this pack. =) I just recently got my husband involved in my steampunk world, but he's curious why there's so much green in the pack, and what all the green (torches, water, etc.) has to do with steampunk. Anyone have an answer?

There could be many reasons why Green is the steampunk color.
Many machines and tools of the Steampunk/Victorian era were made using copper, bronze and brass. All of which contain high levels of copper, that when exposed to fire/burned, produces a green flame. Since the Torches in Glimmar's Steampunk appear to be made in-part of what appears to be brass, i'd suspect that's where the green flame comes from.
Green ocean water is common in colder parts of the world.
Also, Glimmar, I have a forum thread to showcase my airships and I would like to ask for permission to put an edited version of your texture.png on my thread to go with my world save.

Curse PremiumTo tell you the truth I didn't really care about the images being changed as some of them are quite better replacements.
I have no problem with you using it as long as proper credit is given. I would wait for permission from Tlos before using it in your pack though, as the original design was his.
