There's probably more who dislike the 'stone heads' than actually like or find them useful, so when I upload the 32x version of the pack, I'll update the 64x again with the stone heads as an 'opt-in' alternative. Hopefully this should be a lot easier for those scratching their heads over what to do with their builds.
Instead I will look at ctm'ing a 64x version of the wool with some variety of corosion, wear and tear, etc. How does that sound?
Also, for those wanting to switch off specific animation, rather than blanket remove all animations, I'll try and put together a list of which .properties files to delete.
No point in spoiling the pack for the majority, for an idea that might only appeal to me.
The heads were an interesting idea, it's just a shame all your stone blocks were already taken (Chiseled Stone, maybe? How much does that get used?), as the wools have proven to be not only popular in their previous state, but also flammable, which the heads don't convey.

The chiseled stone is now the new ctm'd 'column' texture (check out the latest vids), which I'm hoping will prove very useful, not just as columns, but as decorative capping stones.
In dropping the head stones, I should get the 32x version of the pack out quicker.
Version 9 of both packs on their way soon!
I'm thinking of putting the 'rune carved' stone slab tops from the heads in with the slab variety for the top of the chiseled columns, then they're not wasted. Any thoughts anyone?
Hey Glimmar I was wondering have you every thought of writing lore for your pack..? Also are the villagers robots because the zombies have faces of humans but there insides are wires and such....

Love your texture pack Btw
Welcome to the forums, Baconbeast. Glad you like.
There is a kind of lore hidden away amongst my ramblings in this thread. A past where the great 'makers' or 'engineers' opened up the nether and beyond, releasing strange creatures. A retro-advanced world where the great engineers finally succumbed to their mechanical slaves, which now flood the 'overworld'. However, I've just not had time to properly flesh anything out. It might not be a bad thing though, as everyone has different views on how my pack should be used.
The villager automatons are still servile and helpful to the other humans and work in all the various professions, but now it's possible to have villager zombies, I've made it so these also can turn 'rogue', like all the other mechanical monstrosities. My villager zombie is only the broken automaton version for now. All other zombies are mechanical, even the one's that might look human (more steampunk 'Terminator' style, I guess).
Ah, that's what those were, I couldn't figure it out. I thought they were supposed to be slabs, for some reason, but all the slabs were also accounted for. Ah well, maybe another block will pop up for you to slip them onto later, or something.
I think those tops would work great on the pillars. I know I at least will still be using the heads as well, once I figure out which block to move them to.

I've decided not to put the rune carved slabs in with the top slabs of the chiseled stone column. If I did, it wouldn't be possible to build just plain slabs into the floor and also have separate special areas where one might want to put rune carved stone slabs. Instead, there will be a separate drop in folder of ctm files, if someone wanted to activate the heads and runes.
I'm considering having another drop in ctm stone block, which will just have random carved designs on all six faces of a wool block. Again, another optional extra that some may prefer to having stone heads.
you, my good sir, are going to be awarded with an unlimited connection to all the files currently avaiable to the public and all the kind of comunication form including the device you used for the creation of such an incredible, new point of view of this popular entertaining program, because, you, sir, you are one of the best of your sector of the indie developing industry of this beautiful human creation called Minecraft
I've never won a Minecraft award before! This shall take pride of place on my mantelpiece. Many thanks, ObsidianWalker.
I, too, have incorporated the heads into some of my buildings. I was planing on swapping out the wool on the airport anyway, now that we have the stone columns. Just a bit of work to replace about a hundred 4x4 columns with the new stone, but hey, gives me something to do.
thank you for making such an awesome texture pack! anyway some question
1: will you make a FAQ section in the main post for question like these?
2: the green ray for the beacon look a bit weird when spinning
thats all, if (i don't think you will)you need any idea for texture you can ask. i really like steampunk and i have some image for the inspiration while drawing/creating pixelart, so i can say i am an expert
I'm not looking to clutter up the OP any more than it already is. I'm looking towards cutting a lot of pics and text actually.
The beacon beam is something pretty much hard-wired, especially the rotation which is pretty dire and choppy. Also the little particle texture that's used for the beam is repeated on such a small scale, it makes it difficult to have any meaningful effect on it at all. After many attempts and not enough time I left it at it's present state, which bearing in mind the limitations is as good as it gets for now. Have a go editing the beam.png file and see how frustrating it is.
Ideas and suggestions are always welcome, but only on the understanding that I make no promise to use anything and I have many ideas of my own I've still not tried out yet.

Do you think I should have an 'opt-in' or 'opt-out' system for the heads?
Whilst finishing off the 32x edits for all the new ctm stuff, including the head stones, I made a little 'headstones folder' for the 'alternatives textures' folder in the pack and edited out the CTM head stones in the standard pack. So it would now be necessary for users to 'opt-in' if they wished to have the heads and rune carvings, but I could make it the other way and have the terrain.png file have standard light grey wool and CTM headstones. Then anyone not wishing to have them, could follow instructions to delete the appropriate files in the CTM folder, leaving the wool texture to appear again off of the terrain sheet.
I'd be interested to hear what you think?
With only three stone heads, it wasn't really enough to show it's usefulness off...so I shot myself in the foot really over trying to sell the idea.
I like the stone columns, but in playing survival, chiseled stone is hard to come by. I fiddled around a little and made the stone slabs into ctm columns for myself. The bottom slab kind of curves into the fluted columns. It does look kind of strange when you have just a bottom slab or three slabs stacked, especially in the fortress. But I used stone slabs so little before it works for me.

Fear not, juliusand1.
Stone slabs were going to be a future CTM project as marble columns.
It should be possible to have the best of both worlds with that block, with a little ingenuity and a little acceptance that there will always be compromises.
I always wanted to have the facility to build sandstone, stone and marble columns, and with those archetypes, it would represent a fair spread of the three great stone building materials of antiquity. Not sure if I'll improve on what you came up with, but I'll have a fair whack at it.
Juliusand1, could you share the stone slab columns? I would try but I honestly can not be bothered with texture work at the moment, too busy and have hardly enough time to play minecraft as it is.
BTW, This is jester but for some reason my account is not working and it keeps giving me this old one instead of the other, still looking into that
Could you explain what you mean by opt in? If you're referring to deleting the CTM textures, I would be fine with that.
I should add that I'm fine with whatever changes that are made. Just working with what there is, because what I have to work with is pretty excellent. My tower is coming along quite nicely and has improved greatly since my switch from using Demonette's Mythos pack (which I am sad that there hasn't been any updates since my last post on the thread) to this pack. Find I have a better time working with the steam punk theme than the Lovecraftian theme. That's not to say that I think Demonette's lacking in quality - I think she's an excellent artist and her texture pack is a reflection of that - just that I'm more imaginative with this pack.
So yeah, that's my long-winded endorsement/suggestion.

Thanks, mate. As mentioned above, there's always plenty of room for improvement and lots of ideas to try out.
I love Fausts old pack and Demonette is doing a great job continuing the work. I imagine circumstances have just overtaken her at the mo' and she'll probably have some nice surprises up her sleeve.
As regards the opt-in and opt-out. 'Opt-in' would mean that to get the head stones back in use instead of light grey wool, you'd need to drop the appropriate CTM files from my 'alternate textures' folder back into the ctm folder. 'Opt-out' would mean the pack would come with the head stones as standard, like it is in the v8 pack now, and to go back to normal light grey wool, you'd need to delete the appropriate .properties file in the CTM folder.
I've just realized I could make things easier for myself and everyone and rather than mucking about with separate folders in the alternate textures folder, I should just make it clear which .properties files need dropping in or taking out to switch between headstones or wool. I would need to keep the light grey wool texture as standard on the terrain.png sheet, so that it would re-appear if the headstone .properties was taken out. Hope that makes sense!
You can probably tell I'm tired and need to catch up on some much needed rest. 32x pack is just about finished. I need to fix the spruce bark texture and some patterning in the ctm birch planks. I didn't realize quite how long it would take (nor how confusing) to downscale all the 64x ctm textures to a satisfactory level.

I'll try to figure out how to get the files I made to Glimmar, so he can distribute them as he wishes, since it is primarily based off his work. I would say that my work is not so refined as his, so keep that in mind. I did a ctm work-up of the chiseled sandstone as well.
