Hi! I'm new to this thread, a massive fan of this pack, but I have a problem. A problem I have had for a good while, and I thought would come and point it out. My problem is the armor. Leather's fine, but just having re-colored armor for every tier above that... kind of remove's the whole concept of upgrading...to me at least. I'm just pointin' it out. And would enjoy... I don't know. A change to the armor from iron up or something to that effect? I know it's really pompous to come in, for the first time, and be a **** by complaining about something minor in a TXP that has had an incredible amount of effort and time injected into it...but eh. You folk's seem nice. So I thought I would point that out. Thank you kindly for any response in advance. ^3^
I wanted to work on the stone brick side of things, because I've been unhappy with the existing textures for some time. There's about 10 variations for each type of stone brick and these are activated by MC Patcher's ctm facility. More to add yet though.
I will probably do the same for sandstone and cobble at some point. MC Patcher's random ctm function fascinates me more than any other aspect of ctm... if you haven't already guessed.
I wish it was possible to choose which texture to place on a specific block face in game... that would really blow my mind with it's possibilities, but it would have to be included in MC Patcher and not break saved maps.
I really like the new bricks. Fantastic. The old ones bothered me too.

The gold and diamond armors are simply placeholders. Don't worry, with every time I fire this pack up, there's always something new that Glimmar has done that just blows my mind. I'm sure he'll do something similarly grandiose with those armors. I just have patience and let the master do his thing.

As torturran said above, the current armors are placeholders. As Glimmar works on whichever elements of the pack strike his fancy at any given time, it is hard to tell when they will be replaced. Currently, he appears to be working on adding more CTM random texture support for MCPatcher, as well as adding textures for other MCPatcher features (custom sky, for instance), and as he doesn't have much time to spare on textures, this should make perfect sense (spending what little time he has to make the minor changes which have a huge impact on the feel of the game).
The armors is just a few of the textures that are currently placeholders. About a third of the mobs are also user-submitted placeholders that Glimm has plans of replacing when he gets around to it. He also hasn't finished the Ender Dragon, or a couple other textures from The End, but he works at whatever pace is comfortable for him. Also, I'm just going to note that the armors aren't just recolors. The backpack "power supply" is different for the three of them: Steam powered, Alchemical, and… I forget the other one. Unfortunately they aren't major differences, so at first glance they do seem very similar.
Little bug report. I just popped into the netherlands and discovered that the Zombie Pigperson textures to be seriously glitched.
*SNIP*
Are you using snapshot 12w32 or newer? If so, then it's a bug in the game itself. It is trying to spawn villager zombie pigmen, which don't actually exist. This is due to the fact that "Zombie Pigmen" is a sub-class of "Zombie", and when they made it so that some zombies would spawn as villager zombies, they accidentally made it in such a way that the zombie pigmen ALSO had the chance of being villager zombies… which freaks most TPs out (not to mention the vanilla TP).
Otherwise… I don't know what's wrong. If I had to guess, I'd say that something didn't patch right.

Ah, that makes. . . a certain amount of sense. . . I suppose. Thanks for clearing that up.

It would probably make more sense if I used the right terms and I checked to see if you had any Java background before giving the semi-technical answer ¬_¬
A number of other people have noticed similar problems on vanilla and that was a half-remembered explanation for it.
Sorry I didnt reply sooner, been buried in Summer reading and homework and its been a living nightmare in general
That said... AMAZING STONE BRICKS!!!
I LOVE them so much you have no idea, they have alot more depth than before and look slightly "cleaner". Cant wait for the new version (although thats a given with anything you come out with, its all amazing!)
Thank's for replying to me men! It's nice to know this lil' community is so nice. Thank you kindly! And also, AngelMan, as a brony, you are expected not to be rude and use harsh language. :T
BTW Glimmar, I love the villagers. And the new bricks. This pack seems to be in a constant state of flux, but what ever you do just makes it better and better. Keep it up, I will never get tired of this.
I tried using the tekkit add-on, as this would seem to be the most appropriate choice of texture pack. But it seems to be a wip or something, because everything is in strangely named folders, that it doesn't recognize, therefore not working.
I just noticed the text under the thing saying it would be fixed in a couple days... =/
is that true?

Did you follow the "Read Me" in the download on how to install the textures into the texture pack?
As for the fixing it, that's for some of the railcraft textures, and that may take a while. Been fairly busy with classwork as of late.
While working on getting some of my textures updated for the snapshot I encountered something that I think may be a problem for you as well. The new decorative skull items use the same texture as the heads of the monsters they are from. This is all well and good unless you happen to have made the head invisible. (I think I recall you did this with some of the creeper textures you had.)
Hopefully the CT stuff will let you get around that but thought I'd give you a heads up to check for it.
From the crossed-out part of your first post, it sounds like you are trying to use the compilation as a stand-alone texture pack, which it most definitely is NOT.
In the mod pack compilation folder, you will find a number of files for various mods. When you download this, you must ALSO have the normal texture pack. You will then open the texture pack and COPY the folders from the mod pack over to the folder for the texture pack. Only copy the folders for the mods you have installed (for Tekkit, that would be IC2, RedPower, BuildCraft, Railcraft, Nether Ores… and possibly one or two others). After you copy these files over, EDIT the names of the files, deleting the part within parenthesis (the things surrounding this sentence). Then, RE-ZIP the texture pack and place the new ZIP file into Tekkit's Texture Pack folder.
The part where I said I was fixing something should not affect Tekkit, since Tekkit uses an older version of Railcraft. Newer version have a slightly different layout for some of the textures, and this is what I was referring to when I mentioned that I had to fix it. The compilation is not and never will be the full texture pack download with mod textures. Instead, it is a collection of textures that you can pick and choose from to add to your game.
Glimmar, Glimmar, Glimmar. I love ya man, but even on my brand-new beast of a computer your OP still takes forever to load. Maybe try compressing some images or making liberal use of spoilers?

I think his plans were to keep the user-submitted mobs as alts, especially now that RandomMobs allows for a plethora of textures.

Yeah, What he said.
I don't know about you, but i like the wall art that Glimmar has given us in this pack, and the snapshot is not worth losing them, IMO.
actually, it doesn't break all of them. but you won't get anything bigger than 1x1 or 1x2, and forget about any horizontally oriented ones.
just thought i'd let you know.

Also. I think the city of newglim should be the panorama. it's really cool!
How about this: Tell me what the problem is.
