Also, how would you suggest removing some of the custom animations? My computer can run a 128x pack but animations kill it x/
Ah! Sorry about the anim pains.
The quickest and easiest way of stopping animations, is to switch the option off in MC Patcher (I assume there's a similar option in Optifine). But I think you want to pick and choose what you want to delete.
If you take a look in the 'anim' folder in the pack, you'll find lots of '.png' animation strips and '.properties' files.
Any animation strip that begins with 'custom...' you can delete without any problems (perhaps keep a backup of the anim folder, just in case).
Any other animation strip will be connected with a '.properties' file which controls where the animation plays and it's timing, etc. It's ok to delete any .properties file without knowing which animation strip it's controlling as the animation strip will just lie dormant and not get called, but it's not alright to delete any non 'custom' animation strip, without also deleting it's accompanying .properties file. Also some anims (like the little pulsing valve animation on various guis) are used in other parts of the pack.
I don't have a checklist of what anim strip and .properties connections there are, but a little detective work clicking on the .properties files will soon reveal what animation each file is calling. The first line of each .properties list of instructions beginning with the word 'from...' indicates which .png animation strip it's calling/controlling in the anim folder. It might sound confusing to begin with, but it's not.
The second line of each .properties instructions indicates where the animation strip is to be played.
Here's an example .properties file opened up to reveal it's instructions:
You're only interested in the first two lines to determine what animation it controls. In the above example the 'from' instruction is calling the animation strip called 'counter_3.png' and in the second line the 'to' instruction plays the animation on the enchant.png gui, which is found in the gui folder.
So have a look through the .properties files and see what animation they call and where they are being placed and decide what you can live without. Then just delete the appropriate .properties file and it won't be played ingame. In the case of custom animated terrain or item animations the stationary texture might not be as pretty to look at as the animated version, simply because it might be an old texture that I've just not updated because I replaced it with animated work.
...MAN I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is the best texture!!!
Haha! That was still a very encouraging response. I hope you think it looks even better in game...not forgetting we have kahr of MC Patcher to thank for making things like this even possible.
heya Glimmar... the kiddo's all wanted me to let you know that your pack is now on their fav list. (which consists of sphax, vondoom, mine and yours. ) shortlist yay! lol

edit: and I'm loving the 64x
Obviously kids who have better taste than mine! Howdy, Grugsy.
All I get is criticism from my two lads and my youngest (a girl) who loves Minecraft, but only if it's got lots of pink in it and mostly if she can run around in her brother's worlds picking flowers and demolishing villager houses...some strange logic at work there!!??
Lol! It's nice to be on someone's shortlist, and amongst such high quality too!
Ah! I wish I had more time to expand on the 64x, but I think I've left it too late to convert everything quickly, especially with all the changes Mojang and MC Patcher keep introducing. You know what it's like to try and get that perfect tiling piece of stone or grass...the prospect of having to go through that again (or use CTM for random variety) is quite daunting. I will keep chipping away at it though. By the time most things are converted, nearly everyone will have a powerful enough machine to run it!
@Glimmar
Would u like to be a member on the Judge Panel for picking out the pack of the week on the TPC?
That's awfully nice to be considered, Gamex101, but to be honest, I truly hate being a judge of anything now. Probably the least qualified too!
I used to administer a municipal gallery and museum for a number of years and had to judge many local exhibitions, etc. and was regularly asked to be a judge of work at schools...loved looking at the work, but hated picking winners over losers. Besides, I never used to agree with other judges...as you can probably tell from my pack, I think I view the world differently than most!
All the same, I'm flattered to have been asked, and might I say I also think you've been continuing to do a superb job on the Texture Pack Central. Top marks.

Ok that's completely fine and that's the reason I'm looking for a judge panel its just to hard to pick out a pack of the week on just my opinion
So, Glimmar, I tend to remember there being a bit on the OP with some of Vernian Process' instrumental tracks for use in changing the in-game music, but you weren't sure how to go about it. Well, it turns out that there's a mod for that. I had been perusing the Last Days pack, and they mentioned that they are working on making alternate sounds for everything. I thought that that may be something that people here might be interested in.
I know you're probably busy working on the textures themselves, but I thought I'd throw this out there. I'm sure that we could find some intrepid soul who wants to give back but is no good with texturizing that could work on it. It could definitely help with the atmosphere.
Also, if someone did this, you wouldn't have to say "Sounds in the video do not reflect those in game" on your preview videos

Actually looks mighty interesting, ksheep.
When it's updated I might have a tinker with it myself for my own world.
However, my only reserve is the obvious temptation to immerse myself in introducing lots of new sound effects (industrial noises, distant steam hammers, squeals and the like + music) which would be fine for an already built up world, but might seem strange to anyone starting a new survival world.
I suppose it would just be necessary to describe when best to introduce the sounds, or start simply by changing some of the more obvious mechanical beasty noises and such and have a different sound pack for a more developed world.
I just wish Mojang would hurry up and introduce some sounds for the railcarts...it would makes such a difference. But I'm guessing it's not as simple as just bunging a few rattle and squeal samples into the pack. The real skill comes in selecting and balancing sounds so they don't quickly become repetitive and annoying.
Anyway, I'm about to upload a little vid showing off my new hi-res Better Skies starfield and that has lots of atmospheric sounds included. As you can probably tell by now, I'm having lots of fun messing about with moody background sound effects.
Steampunk Stargazing - Better Skies Starfield - Video
Watch in as high a resolution as possible...you'll see the stars twinkling in all their glory...honestly! This was a 1080p movie, but Youtube has downscaled it slightly.
A short movie showing my new hi-rez starfield texture for MC Patcher's 'Better Skies' using my Minecraft texture pack, 'Glimmar's Steampunk' (UberGaffer is my youtube alter ego). This will be available in version 7 of my pack coming very soon.
Woah, lets calm down here. I dont think its polite to look at someone's work and say "yeah thats cool, but what else is there?" no matter how tempting it may be (and with all these new features for MCP coming out it is very tempting).
Anyway, great work as always Glimmar I LOVE that night sky and cant wait to see how it turns out in my own world!
Great looking textures. I am currently using the Technic/Tekkit mod packs and would love to use these textures with it but they haven't updated it to Minecraft 1.3.2, but they are still using minecraft build 1.2.5. I started searching your post but with so many pages. I would suggest adding a link to older versions if there is one. i searched the internet to try and find an older version of your pak but it kept sending me here. Also, would this texture pack work with version 1.2.5 or would it cause problems? If it is compatible with the older version I would suggest stating that in your description.

This.
Really people...Jeez Louise. Thats nice but what else is there? Do you not understand how much work went into this pack ?
Anyways--maybe you can help me here JesterMailMan89P, (I saw you did a tp update for BTW mod on the forums over there--very cool stuffs But I am having some kind of problem here with Glimmar's pack and that mod:

If you look in the texture pack, in the GUI folder, you will find a folder labeled "Old 1.2.5 allitems gui". Take that texture and replace the other allitems.png with that and rezip the pack. Should work just fine after that.

Curse PremiumAh! Then you have my sincere sympathies, because there are so many good, and not so good, packs out there to choose from.
You could always choose at random...then everyone, great or not so great, gets a chance to be seen up at the top for a while.
