As stringburka has said, Glimmar is having a hard enough time working on just the base textures, but we have a team of people working on making mod textures available on the front page. Said pack is a bit out of date (last updated for Tekkit v2, with most mods only partly complete), but a fair bit of work has been done on this since. I just need to recompile everything and upload, and at the moment I don't have a lot of free time to work on this… I hope to work on this in the next few weeks, and I'll let everyone know when it's up…
Question: Should I combine the work of the two IC2 projects, or leave them separate so people can pick and choose? I realize that there is some overlap between them, but both seem equally valid. Any thoughts?
Keep them separate, or have one as an alt within the same folder. It would be fair to include very one's work (especially since the two have done some of the same things already)
Looking at the two of them, it seems like most of the overlap is in the items sheet, specifically with the fuel cells, bronze tools, and bronze armor. Unfortunately, it looks like that's most of what CuZnDragon has done on the items sheet, although there are a few things he's done which stringburka hadn't. I'll probably keep both of them in, using the more complete set as the main and the other as an alt. In the meantime, would you like to try to split the remaining work up so you aren't working on the same things at the same time?
As for what's done (or at least started), I have:
block_generator
block_machine
block_0 (still needs a fair bit of work)
item_0 (still needs a fair bit of work)
Bronze Armor (two types)
Copper Armor (from SimpleOres mod)
SimpleOres items
IronChest chests
Crafting Table II
Jetpack
Lappack
Not sure what else there is to do, as I haven't looked into what textures Tekkit uses lately, been busy. However, it might be good to split the work up a bit just so we don't have an excess of alternates while other parts are still vanilla.
Oh, and thanks again for all the hard work. I'll see if I can't get a new version of the mod texture pack compiled together sometime this week.
Do you plan on doing more tekkit textures or just IC2? With all these tech mods being done I'm thinking about doing some tekkit textures
I don't have tekkit. I am updating IC2 working from the 1.97 version plus some IC2 mods.
EDIT: item_0.png has been updated: Wrench, Tap, Tin Cans, Tubes, Mystery Box.
EDIT2: Rechargable batteries updated
EDIT3: updated the powders, ingots, and jerry cans
EDIT4: updated the wires
EDIT5: updated color rollers, wire cutters, single use battery
EDIT6: updated red gems
EDIT7: updated batteries to all have similar look, updated blue gems, added missing items from 1.97
You should definitely make this Tekkit-compatible would look friggin awesome.
A number of users are working on this right now. We currently have a half-dozen people working on and off on finishing retexturing the mods, and a compilation is in the works. However, Glimmar doesn't have the time to work on it himself, but he is allowing users to use and modify his alternate textures for mod support. As you can see above, the BTW and IC2 mods are currently being worked on, and there has been some work done on RedPower2, BuildCraft, and several other smaller mods.
Looks like there's a new feature as of snapshot 12w30d: Rotatable logs. Placing wooden logs will now orient themselves so that the former top/bottom side will be the side facing you when placed. I doubt this will effect the pack much, but you may want to play around with it and see if there's any changes you'd like to make to the logs to take advantage of it…
I downloaded this pack way back when and when I updated to 1.2.5 a bunch of textures were broke and for some reason I just assumed it wasn't compatible. Glad I took a minute to track down this pack and update it. This was the first texture pack I installed in Minecraft and it's still one of my favorites for creative mode. Keep up the good work, thanks for putting in the effort.
Just back from holiday/vacation (Cornwall - Eden Project, Tintagel, coast and forest walks). Hence the silence, the earlier rush of vids, and not being able to properly contemplate doing a pre-MC 1.3 GS update.
You'll have to bear with me while I catch up on Minecraft, my work and rest (strained my flippin' ligaments at the back of my knee - so agony at the mo' after 8 hours of driving home!).
I'm getting frustrated with a new keyboard with my fingers refusing to adapt! Already lost this post twice by hitting a side function key instead of uppercase!!!
Many thanks for keeping the thread busy and glad you like the new villagers...and no, one of them isn't meant to be Harry Potter! and yes there will eventually be more varieties, including more priest-like priests and lots more automaton varieties.
When I get the chance, I'll answer any posts asking specific questions of me, but ksheep always holds the fort very well (many thanks, sheep), so I'm hoping there's not a lot to go back over. I can see that CuZnDragon has been very busy...thanks again, mate.
Hi! Love your pack, it blends so well together and fits minecraft like a glove, especially when playing with tekkit!
In regards to the licence, I'm wondering a bit about this part:
"If you run a non-profit making server, ie. you do not charge members for joining your server (charging for use of Glimmar's Steampunk texture pack is strictly forbidden), you are free to use Glimmar's Steampunk with modifications, but please give clear credit and a link back to this thread at all times. I don't make a charge for this pack and it is strictly forbidden for anyone using this pack or parts of this pack to make a charge or ask for donations.
You are free to use this pack as a base for creating your own pack and free to upload pics/videos to show work 'in-progress', see the above paragraph regarding clear credit and link, etc. However, please don't release your texture pack whilst it still contains any artwork from this pack."
I'm starting up a non-commercial server soon, that'll have a steampunk story and theme. It's mostly for my friends, though I'll probably invite strangers too. The thing is that certain parts of the texture pack - mainly the robotic creatures - do not fit well with the story, and as such I was thinking of using JohnSmiths creatures instead. I understand I can mix and match them on my own computer and only for me - what I'm wondering was if it's allowed to redistribute the pack to my friends (who aren't very good with computers). Of course, everything will be properly credited. By JohnSmith's thread, this seems okay with him, but I'm wondering how these two paragraphs relate to each other in your license.
So, in short, would it be okay for me to mix/match your texture pack with parts of JohnSmiths and share it with my friends on my server (not post it open in a public forum) if it's properly credited?
Thanks a lot for any response!
Sorry for delay in reply. So long as you credit me as you describe above, I don't have a problem with you distributing your version to friends and members of your server, but obviously no public distribution of the edited version elsewhere. Thanks.
Glad you like the pack enough to want to use it.
I still intend to add more naturalistic animals in the future. Minecraft is just so mind-bogglingly big to do all the things you want to. Better that than a game with limits.
I've got to say, the new villagers look great… but isn't it a bit inhumane to keep them locked up in that tunnel like that? What would happen to them if it floods?!?!
Inhumane? Lol! Not with all the time and effort they demanded! Even though it's only a game it's very strange to think they're still trapped down there in the damp and dark.
I was looking for a different atmospheric way of showing off the villagers and simultaneously lead into my harbor. I also needed to keep 'em still in one place and one of my sewer/waterways seemed handy at the time. I blame any sympathy you have on the power of sound effects.
Sorry, been busy with classwork. Just wrapping up a summer course, and a big project is due at the end of the week… and fall semester is just a couple weeks off. I think I get about one week of downtime, and I'll see if I can't get something done then. Still need to update to the latest tekkit version and look at any layout changes to the mod file structure. Might also be nice to work with the latest version of the base pack (not that I'm uploading that as well, just so I don't end up with wrong vanilla textures while testing).
Also, I think I'll have to rebuild my texture test world. I had one a while back that had each of the various blocks for easy comparison, but I think it got lost in one of the previous updates ¬_¬ I'll keep everyone informed though. It's just been a very hectic summer…
Thanks for the response! Then the servring can commence! *evil laughter*
Best wishes for it's success and post some pics as and when you feel you've got something to show. If you want to advertise it in my OP, I still intend to have a server section for that purpose, a banner would be even nicer, but no pressure.

Best of luck with that.
I find summertime is a little like the run up to Christmas, very hectic in terms of real life. My RL work will begin in earnest after 1st August, so I'm hoping my update doesn't throw up too many problems.
