Some of the textures I developed for Thaumcraft 2 are actually Dokucraft hybrids. Can I submit them as a joint contribution?
The only items created using this method are:
- Crucible of Eyes
- Thaumium reinforced tank
- Quaesitum
In the picture above, the texture in question is the Thaumium reinforced tank, in the middle. You can see that it uses the same graphics as that of the vis conduits (the rest of the stuff you see are actually my own, crafted using either methods similar to those of the Steampunk pack or by mixing or creating firsthand Doku-styled elements).
Sorry Sun, I have a strict policy of not mixing my textures with work from any other pack, especially established packs. It makes for too many potential arguments I don't want to get involved in...it's a long story! Those working on the Doku 'Continuation Project' would also be of the same mind I suspect. Having spent an enormous amount of time on my Minecraft art, I don't want it watering down by mixing with other styles. What you describe above would have to be for personal use only, I'm afraid.
As mentioned in my OP, I'm happy for those who support my work to use my alt textures and their own creativity to make supporting mod textures and to offer those textures as distinct 'Glimmar's Steampunk' only mod packs, but not to be used for mixing with other packs.
If I'm to continue to offer my alt textures for use in supporting mods, It's my wish that my textures remain distinct from other packs. So very much 'no mixing' and as per my instructions for 'mod support' in my OP.

In which case, I will be approaching Ksheep to integrate the final results into support for the Steampunk pack, once I mop up the Quaesitum. Thanks for sharing this texture pack with the rest of the world.
Just watched the taster video, I've got to say it looks nice. Can't wait to try it out.
Oh, and for the whole mod support thing… I really need to sit down and work on that. Unfortunately, I've been distracted between work and various Steam games (curse you, summer sale (goes and checks for new deals)). I'll try to start working on it again, but I'll need to work on reorganizing several things in it… and I'll also need to track down everything that people have posted in the last few months.

EDIT: WOO! 8888th post (and 8887th reply…)
Thanks, Mate.
Hah! That's a cool post to have. Makes me wonder now who got post 666...better not be me!
My update is just about finished now, so I'm trying to go through as much of the new stuff and present it in video form for future ref. and as a showcase for visitors...then I can upload! I'm rushing to meet another real life deadline that will absorb my time for a few weeks at the end of July and beginning of August (summer house started last year), so I'm trying my best to beat that.
Lol, Steam Summer Sale! Both my sons (son no. 2 is much improved by the way) have been frittering their hard earned income/allowance gobbling up bargain games from Steam and trying to persuade me to join in, which is torment for me working non-stop on this update, there's just so much that I'm looking forward to trying out and can't! Curse you Minecraft!
Wel first off... CURSE YOU TEASER VIDEOS!!!!! Teasing me to no end! Can't wait for update v6
Secondly, Ive update my BTW texture pack support with the FINAL items! Ive also gone back and messed with block textures a bit (most noticeably the bellow)
Now I have to do GUI... *crys in fear* This is unfourtanetly the hardest thing to edit about your pack Glimmar, as it is so detailed it is incredibly difficult to cut it up and still make it look good. For once I envy Dokucraft Tp makers.
But I will try
In closing, thank you for all your hard work yet again Glimmar
Saw a review of the texture pack earlier, looks like it was posted a couple days ago. The reviewer was singing praises for the pack… until the very end of the video when he noticed that the Ender Dragon hadn't be finished (and one of the other end textures…) Still gave it a 9.8/10, and he offered a suggestion: animated texture for the inside of the diving helmet. Just thought I'd pass this nugget along…
Now to let him know that v.6 will be out soon.

Haha! Sorry about the complexities of the guis. If it's any consolation I find 'em just as hard to mak...laboring over them for days. It makes me chuckle sometimes when I read some texture pack artist saying, "I spent a good two hours on this pack so far, so I hope you appreciate the effort!" Flip! I must be truly Victorian or somit' It's all my breaks for cups of tea that does it.
Sorry for video taunts! Incidentally the next vid I'm currently finishing off will feature all my new human and automaton villagers...if I can keep them still for a photoshoot!! Then the fourth and hopefully final vid will feature all the new guis. So a bit more frustration to come yet. All this assuming I manage to beat my deadline.

Hah! Yes, I saw the Machinima vid review. It was staring me in the face on my Youtube page and I thought at first it was an old one I must have missed...but turned out it was released just last week. Lol! The reviewer was very generous indeed, but the last few video reviews I've seen recently have made me wish I'd got this update v6 out earlier. Well, nothing I can do about it now, but if you or someone got the opportunity to mention it when I finally update I'd be mighty grateful.
I must admit, the machinima review had a great layout for comparing different packs. 10/10 for his system.
Without doubt, this is THE BEST thing to happen to Minecraft that was not actually created by Mojang themselves, in my not-so-humble opinion.
Thanks, mate. That's very generous of you and much appreciated.
Personally, I'm continually dissatisfied with lots of my textures, but as I can only work in one area at a time, especially with the amount of detail I've been putting into the guis, villagers, animations and plants recently, I've not lavished sufficient attention in other areas. My stone bricks (particularly the smooth stone bricks) don't fill me with pride at the moment.
Thanks to one and all for the encouragement and sorry again for the long drawn out nature of this particular update.
i just fully realized how much skill this pack took. im finally getting around to the bit of my pack with the most steampunk aspects to it, the appliances and such, and making gears is increadibly hard with such few pixels, and considering my pack is 64x, and you are working with half the space, it becomes all the more impressive.
by which i mean i might be using your textures as reference a bit because i can't seem to make small gears look good otherwise
Also, one question, how do you make torches and glowstone emit colored light? ive tried asking the TAU, tried looking it on minecraft wiki, tried messing with lightmaps manually, reading through color.properties, etc. ive not figured it out. your pack is one of maybe 4 ive seen that actually uses colored lights. how do you manage it? i get the feeling i went right past whatever mechanism it might be, and simply missed it.
I missed your post 13thMurder. Got my head down too much these days!
Personally, I'm in awe of 16x texture pack artists! Though I'm beginning to appreciate mucking around with some 64x textures for my next update. Some things just need those extra pixels to work well.
The gears and various other appliances were the most enjoyable for me to do, especially by comparison with trying to make natural textures tile properly.
You've probably discovered how to effect the colour of light by now, but you need to be editing a tiny little .png file called 'lightmap0' which covers light in the 'overworld'. This file is located in the 'environment' folder. kahr has the info for editing it in the OP of his MC Patcher thread...the section for Texture Pack Artists. There are other 'lightmaps' that cover the nether and the 'end' too. Misa has long since tackled those, but I seem forever stuck in the overworld at the mo'.
Long, Long Ago, My City Belonged to Me...
Glimmar's Steampunk Update v6 Taster Vid 3
Part 3 of a series of movie teasers showing Glimmar's Steampunk v6 (remember, 'UberGaffer' is my youtube alter ego).
This episode gives a preview of the random human and animated (speaking!) automaton villagers I've been working on this past couple of months. Like the random CTM plants shown in my 'version 6 movie taster 2', you will need MC Patcher to activate all the different villagers featured. Optifine will mostly do the same, but as I don't use that patcher myself, I can't say for sure what the results would be.
What you see here is made using Minecraft 12W26a and MC Patcher and you will notice that some of the villagers have a tendancy to sink into the ground at certain locations. I expect that this particular bug will have been ironed out by final MC 1.3 release.
The sound samples in this movie (especially the automaton speech!) do not represent in-game sounds using my (Glimmar's) Steampunk texture pack... this is a movie and appropriately atmospheric sounds have been copiously used to enhance the setting and your viewing pleasure... I had great fun, although time consuming, giving voice to my little mechanical men
However, animated textures, such as the villager automaton skins, items and terrain features are exactly as depicted in the movie (aside from standard video transitions of course). 'MC Patcher' is necessary to activate animations and CTM features, like my many and varied plants.
Further Info:
Featuring, all new:
Villagers, currently comprising:
3 types of butcher
5 farmers
3 librarians
5 priests
and 3 smiths
made up of human male and female characters and of course animated automaton servants.
Oh! Not forgetting a handful of animated iron golems and tiled emerald and wrought iron blocks! More on those and new animated guis later.
I've got to say, the new villagers look great… but isn't it a bit inhumane to keep them locked up in that tunnel like that? What would happen to them if it floods?!?!
Oh, and on a side note, since the pack I'm making is tekkit-compatible, should I upload some parts here later? Those parts that are only from your pack that I have fiddled around with, that is, not anything from anyone else's pack. It's mostly recolors and copy/pastes with just a bit of original pixling.
Example: -SNIP-
Crafting table III, metal chests, jetpack, bronze armor
I haven't got that far yet, and since I'm not really good with graphics it won't be any amazing textures, but since your textures are excellent even recolors and such will look decent (and far less out of place than playing tekkit with your textures now).
We'd love more tekkit-compatible textures. I'm working on compiling various mod textures, and we've got a fair number so far, but there's still a lot of work to be done. I'll need some time to compile all the new stuff, and tweak what I already have to be compatible with Tekkit v3 (yeah, my last uploaded version was from v2, been fairly busy with RL stuff since then). Feel free to upload any Glimmar-based textures or original textures for inclusion in the pack.
As for your earlier question, I'm fairly sure it's allowed, but it's always a good idea to double check with Glim…
Oh, is there any way to get access to old versions of the texture pack? I know your old terrain textures are included, but if I remember correctly, weren't some of the items different in older versions? It'd be great to use them for IC/BC stuff.
Thank
I believe that Glimmer was planing on trying to compile all the old items into the extras file either with the next update or shortly thereafter.
Glimmar, the song used in your latest teaser, "Something wicked" could you provide me with a link to the version you used? when i listen to the music off there site there are lyrics. where as your Behold the machine download did not have any and i would prefer them that way. ^.^ Love the video, the villagers look great
