Hey Glimmar, i am a huge fan of your work, do you think you can see if this can work on MCX360? ( Sorry if this has been asked before, didn't want to check all 442 pages.)
Glad you like it, Aleyes and welcome to the forums.
Sadly there's no way I know of at present for the common man such as myself to make texture packs work for the xbox, but I speak as one who knows absolutely nothing about that platform. However, from what I've gleaned online, it appears that if texture packs are made available, it will be paid for DLC, won't be updated as often as for PC, be very heavily controlled content and a limited range. I also heard they won't be available for a good while.
Even if it was easy to make texture packs for the 360, I can't really imagine something like MC Patcher/Optifine being made available to allow HD packs to work properly. It would also be mighty difficult for me to take on more work when I have real difficulty updating and finishing just the one pack.
This is a very negative reply I'm afraid, sorry mate!

On another more personal note, it seemed I tempted fate in my earlier post regarding updating sooner than later. My son no.2 who had a festering burst appendix removed a couple of weeks ago, has just been diagnosed with an infected abscess inside his abdomen in the area of the op, something that requires further surgery we're told. So far the poor lad has mostly spent the first 4 weeks of his summer break after senior school exams, doubled up in pain.
So I'll be too-ing and fro-ing to hospital for the next few days at least. If things go well I will obviously get back on track with the update, but I just need to concentrate on keeping things together family-wise for a short time.
I will still have something for you as soon as possible and it will be worth the wait.
Very good job yourself, JesterMailMan89. It's good to see you back again.
I visited your BTW thread and was impressed and grateful for the way you run things there and the honorable way you are using my textures. Many thanks for keeping the interest in my pack going too, especially in these quiet days of 1.3 anticipation.

Thank you very much for the praise Glimmar. Just makin something for me to enjoy and hoping others do too. Couldn't so it without your excellent work though
Thats too bad for your son Not a fun way to enjoy a break. But your absolutely right. Family comes first, then the internet work can continue. Hope your son gets better soon and best of luck to you.
Sorry to hear about the appendicitis, I remember having mine out and its not fun. However recovery is often quick so I'm sure everyone can get back to normal soon! Good thing 1.3 won't be out for a while so you can have a break and I think I speak on behalf of everyone here when I say we really don't mind waiting and real life always comes first!
On a side note, I remember alone time ago you posted mentioning that you wanted to make your ores more useful as building blocks. I happened upon a useful idea ages ago working on my Colonial Rich pack (On which work has stopped until I improve my skills at animation and biome colouring) and I reused it for Steamy. When I was designing my coal ore I Googled images of a coal seam and came across pictures showing a dark black streak in rock. What most texturepacks do, yours included, is take the seam and the stone surrounding it and put it in one block. What I decided to do was make the ore block solely the seam and the stone blocks around it it's border.
Here's two images from Colonial Rich (32x) and Steamy (16x)
I think it looks realistic and whats more, you can now use the coal ore for building! In black looking towers etc. it can provide relief from black wool or obsidian. Here are my textures:
So episode 39 of the Yogscast "Shadow of Israphel" came out and while I was watching I made an interesting discovery. They were using several of your textures. A lot of metal blocks and your repeater and our armor. I don't know if you gave them permission or they simply took them but I thought you should know. As far as I know they don't give credit for the textures they do
I just came to say the same thing, I don't know what to make of it. I had a few of my armour textures used in one of their mod spotlights but I didn't really mind.
Well, from what Ive seen Glimmar is kind of protective of is pack and usually likes to know who is using his pack and making sure he's given permission.
However, the Yogscast seems to do this a lot nowadays. I mean i love their series to death, but they seem to think they own everything involved with mine craft these days.

This has popped up before with the Israphel series. However, I don't think they distribute the texture packs used for their series, and Glimmar has approved remixing for personal use. Now, whether or not this counts (probably does as they aren't giving it away) and whether they give proper credit (I've seen a few people make remix packs based on what they see on the series, but they usually give credit) is another matter…

Mk. Just wanted to make sure it was allowed.
I still think they should give credit considering just how popular their series is, plus its common courtesy. Ah well, just wanted to let Glimmar know.
Hey, just had an idea, thought i should out it out there. You had said you planned for some human and some automaton style villagers, Well if the body looks as open as some of the zombie types maybe it could have an emerald in it. to almost seem as a fuel sorce or some thing. this came to mind because i couldnt see why robots would need emeralds ^^

Anyway, please take it easy.
We didn't read the signs of appendicitis earlier enough (great parents that we are, we simply told him he was constipated and he'd be fine in the morning!) so it had burst and septicemia had begun to kick in! So it was a longish op while they cleaned his insides up. The worry now with the cramps and temps is whether the site of the internal op has got infected again because of what the surgeons had to do.
The idea re: the ores is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of, but I still think there has to be some connection with the stone in which it's found. For this my nest update I've just been experimenting with animating the diamond and emerald ores at higher res (to match the animated offerings of gold and redstone from Lady Eternity and Proudfoot), but it does make them less useful for creative building. However, an idea has just popped into my head as I type...which I hope I remember!
Hey. Personal and family matters come first.
Hope your kid recovers.
If you were just simply waiting for the official update, then I'd ask for an earlier release.
But not if this is the situation.
I'm glad I didn't ask earlier. If I had and you came out with this, I'd feel like a complete ass.
Thanks, mate. I don't mind people asking about or being enthusiastic about the update and I don't feel under pressure...you're all a good lot that way. Having done so much for this next update, I now I feel it kind of necessary to make a short vid to act as this 'proof of work' guarantee I mentioned earlier, exactly for the reasons evident in the posts above about Yogscast. Also, just so that folk get an idea of the amount of new stuff. It's not always immediately apparent what's in a pack if someone just dips into it in a new world and having done so much I don't want anyone to miss anything. Pure vanity I know, but as that's the only reward these days for the effort, it's kind of necessary to keep the enthusiasm at my end going.
My efforts now are more towards higher res than lower. Various attempts at lower res from friends here are possibly still in the pipeline and Squid_Emperor above is working on his own 16x16 Steampunk pack and will be well worth a look, but I have to be honest now and say that the level of detail I tend to labor over for this pack doesn't reduce down to 16x16 without loss of everything that makes the pack worthy, as well as much frustration in the attempt. My own son started and gave up a while back in anger...probably what made his appendix burst!

I also don't have a lot of time to follow up on something like this at the mo', but thanks for the pointer, mate.

Howdy, lordofsax, good to see you.
Haven't seen you about much recently, but then again I've had my head down on my next update for so long I'm just not aware of anything!
Like you, I'm not sure why Yogscast would behave this way, but as they probably don't even put the textures together themselves, especially when they play through someone else's adventure, the fault probably doesn't lie at their door.
I love their stuff too. I've never laughed so hard at any vids than I have at theirs. I agree with you, the tainting effects of fame breeds contempt for those below, not always with intent, but sadly this happens all too often. If they were just starting out, I'm sure they would feel it necessary to be more careful with crediting people appropriately.

Yes, it all gets a bit confusing really. They were a lot more careful with credits and such in the past, but as mentioned above, they're probably using someone else's mix-pack put together specifically for an adventure map, and unless I employed a legal team on the scale of Apple's, there's not a lot I can do about it. I'll still occasionally wade in with fists flying, when I have the energy!
I still think they should give credit considering just how popular their series is, plus its common courtesy. Ah well, just wanted to let Glimmar know.

That's a cool idea actually. I've kind of finalised my design of the automaton villager...with a number of animations that are fixed for all, but I really like the idea of giving more reason to the presence of emeralds in the villager system. Perhaps at some stage I'll look into including the emerald in some way. However, I kind of think of redstone as the power behind all things in Minecraft, though as you will see in my next update, I've kind of employed my interpretation of the 'Eye of Ender' as the weird arcane source of power for a number of things.
Here's a pic of some of the villager's to wet your appetite. The new automaton has an animated mouth, eyes and brain(!) so far:
Per The Yogscast, I'm pretty sure they make their texture mix pack themselves for the Israphel series, which is an adventure that they and their team have designed. I do not believe that they are distributing the map, and I'm almost certain that they aren't distributing the textures. Also, it would be rather hard for them to do so as they often change the texture pack from video to video, and oftentimes from scene to scene. There have been conversations on the forums to try to piece together what's what in the texture pack(s) they use from episode to episode, and it seems that it's constantly changing, and almost all of the textures are taken from other packs.
But as you say, they usually give credit, especially when reviewing a fan-submitted adventure map. It seems that they will pick a texture pack that fits well with the theme of the map (which is why they chose yours for the Fallout map), and they usually give proper credit both in the video and in the description.
What texture pack do you use and is it available to the public?
It is a modified version of the Gerudoku texture pack that was designed in house. It is not available to the public.
However, this isn't stopping fans trying to recreate it…
All HD texture packs require MC Patcher to fix graphical glitches and to make use of HD custom animations and new custom terrain animations. Yes, many of the terrain blocks and items in this pack are now animated! Please see the v3.5 changelog below and earlier changelogs.
To repeat- Don't forget to use the latest version of MC Patcher if you want to see all the new animated terrain blocks and items, custom colours and animated lava, water, fire and portal. It is also absolutely necessary to fix things like fire on bricks and gold blocks, water in the nether, compass and more...these glitches are not caused by this pack, but are common to all HD texture packs of greater than 16x pixels!
At least give optifine some credit... MCPatcher isn't the ONLY hd fix out there, after all. (I prefer OptiFine because of its anti-lag feature, which anybody using an HD texture pack, such as yours, would sure enjoy! If a user spends less time worrying about whether he glitched into lava or off that cliff, he can spend more time admiring the exquisite craftsmanship of this texture pack.)

I believe he had posted that back when MCPatcher had some features that Optifine did not, features which Glim had implemented… Now that Optifine has added all of these (I think using CTM for random textures and custom lighting were some of said features), either/or should be fine.
I take JamesTheAwsome's point, that I probably should have some statement in there that users could use Optifine too. I also defer to ksheeps better expertise in this area as I think he's a lot more familiar with Optifine and I've only briefly used it, a couple of months ago. I have to agree with DeepBlue and Misa though, in that I personally found it to be inferior in terms of custom color and lighting effects and, strangely for me with my 'super computer', somewhat laggy - so the question of improved speed that most users benefit from is a moot point for me. I also have the same impression as DeepBlue and Misa that Optifine tends to play catch-up with MC Patcher and during periods of fast Minecraft updates I've come to rely on kahr's speedy updates. However, I did like a lot of the extra functions that Optifine included and I really need to have another look at it so that I can honestly say something in my OP with regard to it's use.
In all honesty it's difficult for me to recommend something I don't use myself and don't fully support, especially when all the added extras I've worked on are only tested in the latest versions of MC Patcher. I've used MC Patcher in it's various forms since 2010 and can unreservedly recommend it. I don't have anything against Optifine, but just haven't got round to relying on it or feeling as comfortable with it as MC Patcher, and with what little time I have to work on new textures, it's often just a case of not having got round to being able to test things rather than forgetting or intentionally blanking something that works perfectly fine for others.
Only having time to work with MC Patcher means that everything I make, see and test is seen through that patcher's effects, so it would make me nervous to make a blanket recommendation that my pack works perfectly well with something I don't use myself nor have the time to use.
Incidentally, DeepBlue, there will be an Optifine ctm.png file in my next update provided by Demi Person for those who forget to switch off Optifine's CTM or wish to use it with all the random stuff I've provided for MC Patcher's CTM facility. It doesn't do anything special with the glass, bookcases, or sandstone, but does prevent Optifine's use of ctm messing up my 'structural' glass, etc. I feel somewhat guilty that I've been sitting on Demi Person's support file, but each week for the past couple of months I've been expecting 1.3 to hit us and didn't want to get bogged down making small releases with all the customary explanatory notes following. Sorry folks.
Great textures for the villagers, cant wait to see the animations in action
EDIT: You got me hooked on that music, the vernian process. Thanks for putting out that link. i had my friend use them to replace the music that plays on random. much better now ^.^

Vernian Process is certainly awesome for this pack and awesome in any event!
Glad you like the new villagers and can't wait to show 'em off properly, shouldn't be too long now...just finishing off an all purpose doctor/scientist/professor outfit for the priest slot. I still fully intend to have a more traditional priest, but something in a lab/surgeon white coat seemed a little more useful when I'm limited to a small number of initial character types to get this update out on the road.
hay Glimmar i was wondering i got the pack installed mcpatcher and all. Everything works fine but the text for things is sorta chopped up and impossible to read

What version of Minecraft are you running, and which version of the patcher? I believe that some people were saying that one of the snapshots messed up the spacing on the letters, but Glimmar is trying to fix this for the 1.3 release…

EDIT: You got me hooked on that music, the vernian process. Thanks for putting out that link. i had my friend use them to replace the music that plays on random. much better now ^.^

Curse PremiumVernian Process is certainly awesome for this pack and awesome in any event!
What version of Minecraft are you running, and which version of the patcher? I believe that some people were saying that one of the snapshots messed up the spacing on the letters, but Glimmar is trying to fix this for the 1.3 release…
