There's more 64x stuff in my next update, so don't judge the 64x version too harshly at the moment.
If I had more time, I'd quickly throw together a 'compendium of clips' vid showing all the above changelog stuff, but any time I have left is probably best spent on trying to complete these frustrating villagers.
Take care, mate.
Glimmar do you know if the mcpatcher/optifine animation option works with mods blocks as well or only the minecraft core stuff?
This is my favorite texture pack. It's also the only texture pack in existence with good-looking dirt! I'm constantly amazed that I get warm fuzzy feelings from looking at the dirt in this texture pack. And redstone looks amazing. As does everything else. Thanks for all the hard work that went into this.

As I only concentrate on the base pack...at least until it's completed to my satisfaction...I've never experimented with other mods. Obviously the randommobs mod works fine with animations tacked on, but randommobs is included in MCPatcher and Optifine, so not a fair test.

Chunes, you may not know, but your thread on 3d model building in Minecraft was one of the first I read when I joined the forum. I still have a shortcut to it on my desktop, excellent stuff! Your thread was one of the first subjects around here that got me inspired to muck about so much with Minecraft.
As regards my dirt, one day I want to try and improve on it, but like stone and cobble, it's one of those game breaking textures that gets me a bit hot under the collar with the amount of work one can sink into it. Mine is ok in certain situations, but I think it lacks 'volume' and shading in others and I've seen many other examples of dirt that are way better. Like many of my textures they are designed with 'middle' to 'distant' viewing in mind for so called 'epic' building, so don't work so well for close up spelunking survival play.
I love how one of the random mob zombies is a floating machine! Good work Glimmar, and keep it coming!
Credit to PATR101 for that particular example, but I've chopped up automatons too and it's only the pressures of having to work on so many other parts of the pack that's stopping me experimenting further. To be sure, there's a lot of fun to be had in that area, especially for villager automatons and scary skellies and zombies. There's nothing weirder and spine tingling than seeing some dis-embodied body part floating towards you in the dark. Not that it's ever happened to me in real life!
Yes, yes you are. You will live your life trying to find a cure and you will wear bandages on your face with goggles and a hat. You will eventually be known by everyone in a town. You are the invisible man.
...that was weird, I was sure I heard something then!
Lol! Seriously though, Deepblue686, you are an esteemed visitor and no offence was intended to anyone who regularly keeps me company around here. However, my statement was penned in a moment of depressed solitude, and if I'd listed all the folk who do regularly pop in with supporting comments, it wouldn't have had the same impact and it wouldn't have helped my temporary state of self sympathetic wallowing...I think!?
Glimmar has stated that he won't release it until the 1.3 update. So, if you want a more precise ETA, ask Mojang. Too bad they've been awfully vague as to the release date… Personally, I'd say it should be out within the week.

Just a quick question, is there an easy to understand tutorial on how to bind your several custom textures in the active texturepack.rar? Do I have to use a special programm? Copy and paste the lil textures out of the .png and add them in my active???
You have to meditate for days....that's the only way

Just popping in to give you some words of encouragement. I'm eagerly awaiting version 6, and I love what I've seen so far. I've been checking this thread daily, just haven't had much to contribute. I was hoping the Aether mod would update one of these weeks, but they're pretty much having to start from scratch. Hopefully when the mod API comes out it will help prevent mods being broken every patch.
Don't think I've posted any of my builds before, but seeing as the SMP server I usually go on is down, here is a blast from the past. This is my original house from my first world. Built this back in alpha 1.0.10 I think. It was after cacti but before clay. This was a randomly generated snow world, back before them new-fangled biomes. I was just hopping on this old world for nostalgia's sake. I even see my old "beacon" in the background where I had an ever burning log prior to that feature being removed.
Think I might have to recreate this house on my SMP server one of these days. Still remember my first night, low on health, skeleton shooting through my front door because he was halfway through it. Fun times.
Real Life has been kicking my butt for a while now and between that and laziness, Ive been losing time on Better Than Wolves.
But now I have my biggest update ever
Ive added very single item besides the gimp suit which is already 50% done on my computer and I will probably have up soon, but for now I bring you every thing else.
Well, with this new release date, do you still plan to wait for 1.3 Glimmar?
I don't want to sound impatient or beg but I feel like a whole month of waiting time is quite a bit. I think we all assumed 1.3 was going to drop "soon" but now its suddenly a whole month away. That's a lot of time (although that might be all the time you need to prepare v6).
Just wondering. Whatever you decide to do is absolutely fine, your the boss after all.

Use photoshop, Gimp or Paint.net (the last two are opensource or free), because they preserve transparency, whereas Paint does not. I recommend using 7-zip for dipping in and out of the texture zip pack. eg. (assuming 7-zip is installed) if you're just wanting to change a few terrain block textures, left-click drag the 'terrain.png' file out of the zip pack to your desktop, open the terrain file up with Gimp and do the same with my alternate terrain texture files and familiarize yourself with cutting and pasting those little square blocks (plenty of help if you google it). Make sure you get the blocks precisely in the right place on your custom terrain.png sheet, then once your happy with the changes, save it as a .png file to your desktop and drag and drop that file back into the texture pack...open up the texture pack by double clicking it to see you're dropping it in the right place. Over-write the existing file, then double-click it to check it's now your newly customised file.
If you just want to swap different mobs or other skins into the pack, it's even easier, if you take a little time to familiarize yourself with how the pack is laid out and how individual files are named. So that Minecraft and MC Patcher can recognise the various components in the pack, it goes without saying that everything has to be named correctly and in the right folder. To help with getting things in the right place, just open the pack up as per instructions above and left-click drag into the pack whatever alt you want (so long as it's appropriate for where you want to put it). with 7-zip it's not necessary to unzip and then re-zip the pack...just drag things in to swap a mob skin for example, and drag things out to edit them in your preferred graphics editor before dragging and dropping the edit back into. Just remember to spend a little time snooping around the inside of a texture pack to get used to where everything is, and you'll find it's not such an arcane mystery after all.

A lot of excellent work there, Cuz. Well done and many thanks!
When I retire, lol, I'm now really looking forward to eventually trying out all these mods.

I remember those old snow worlds well and my first night in Minecraft...everyone without exception will always remember their first Minecraft night. I still think the old snow worlds were incredibly atmospheric and definitely made your first humble homes feel very cosy. I'm kind of hankering after a bit of survival play now, especially after a year of creative play!

Very good job yourself, JesterMailMan89. It's good to see you back again.
I visited your BTW thread and was impressed and grateful for the way you run things there and the honorable way you are using my textures. Many thanks for keeping the interest in my pack going too, especially in these quiet days of 1.3 anticipation.
Well, with this new release date, do you still plan to wait for 1.3 Glimmar?

I agree, sir. I think a whole month is too long a time to wait. Like you and everyone, I thought Minecraft would have been updated this week. I was doing my best to be ready forthe 1.3 update and really didn't think it would have been as late as August. However, I got a real shock yesterday, because out of the blue Minecraft suddenly threw up the 'Do you want to update now' message at launch. I clicked out the game to check online...couldn't find anything and when I relaunched didn't get any update message, so not sure what was going on!
No...I've been a long time working on my next update, but as I might be away, or otherwise occupied late July/early August, I'm thinking I will probably launch v.6 of my pack before then. I'm better at working to deadlines, so the reprieve is very tempting to sit back and work on even more stuff, but I think it would be grossly unfair to everyone.
The delay has certainly helped, by allowing me to finish a completely new animated automaton villager and at least feel like I might finish a complete set of human villagers. The new automaton is designed as a flexible base on which costume and equipment/tool accessories can easily be attached to distinguish the various trades and more.
I'm really not intentionally keeping you all waiting to hike things, but ideally it would have been better to release after 1.3 to make sense of all the changes I've made, but that's not perfect for everyone, especially as mod users most often prefer to wait until their favorite mods have been updated.
So, my plan is to finish the villager side of things and at the same time release the second part of my taster movie as time-proof that the work in the new pack is mine. It won't be as fancy as the first...just a list of clips showing lots of examples.
Bear with me on this...I'll try not to delay any longer than necessary...especially as you've all been genuinely supportive and patient, for which I'm very grateful.
Hey Glimmar, i am a huge fan of your work, do you think you can see if this can work on MCX360? ( Sorry if this has been asked before, didn't want to check all 442 pages.)
