I am drooling in anticipation, I like the new bed, it might even keep my friends from complaining about it looking like a bronze morgue slab lol. Nice work as always, take care glim, don't over work your creativity.

I love this texture pack i will never use another one again i love steampunk and this is just a suggestion cause I would love to see it, but could you apply this texture to the mo' creatures mod, once again just a suggestion. thanks for this texture pack its exellent
LOL, I've got backups from 1.0 I'm obsessive with not losing anything...hells, I even have emails from 1995 sitting on my hdd! I'll definitely try the first paragraph, and it'll work out ok eventually
Lol. Someone after my own heart. I even transfer everything from PC to PC when I upgrade. My motto...never throw anything away, for the moment you do, you'll desperately need it.
I really don't want to sound pushy but I can't wait till this comes out Do you plan to release this before 1.3 or with it? (Sorry if you answered above but my time is short and you have some very large responses up above)
OriginaI I wasn't intending hanging on until the 1.3 update, but I probably will try and squeeze as much as I can in before then. If only because packaging everything up and getting ready for an update takes up a lot of time and I wouldn't want to do it all over again soon after 1.3 if Jeb suddenly decides to add or change something at the last minute. I'm hoping I will be able to update almost straight after the official update, but only when I've had a chance to quickly test everything still works as planned with any new MC Patcher. My new font spacing concerns me, because I've not had any confirmation from kahr (MC Patcher) as to whether or not it's a patcher issue, so if it's still jiggered after MCP is updated, then I have to painstakingly go through the spacing of every character in the font. Aaargh!

Lol! I'm very aware of how some view my 'comfortable' morgue bed. It's a pity most people never saw how much more useful and imaginative a torture/time machine bed could be!
Haha. Come to think of it, I do feel a bit drained. As much as I like making new stuff, I like building as well, and I ain't been doing much of that over the past month! I'll have a bit of a break when Jeb does. Except my wife might have something to say about that!

Many thanks, Hippobottomless. Welcome to the forums.
I would imagine anyone tackling mo' creatures for this pack would be setting themselves up for quite a bit of work, and the decision would be quite difficult as to whether or not to make them mechanical or natural or a combination. I still intend to have both natural and mechanical creatures in the main pack and even combinations.
I was mind-blown the moment I first started playing Minecraft, and then doubly mind-blown when I discovered you could actually edit stuff in the game! I think I'm running on one souped up brain cell with attachments at the moment!

I do taxes, so it's more of a motto---"Keep everything". I move things around from computer to computer too. I think I have program setup files from back then too, just sitting here. If I pay for it, I never want to give it up, even if I'm not using it...lol
Hello all, here's my rendition for Balkon's Weapons support:
Notes:
- halberds, spears, knives, battle axes and warhammers have been given a facelift, based on historically accurate samples of said weapons - for instance, war hammers now have a more pointed feel to them, which reflects their original purpose as armour-piercing weaponry.
- TNT stick has been converted to "potato-masher" type grenade.

Looks good. Guess we'll have 3 sets of retextures for this mod now Of course, people can alway pick and choose (and at least one of the sets isn't complete and probably won't be for some time).

As a matter of fact, I'm actually still working on both my rendition of Railcraft, and the Weapon mod support - because I'm using Risugami's armour stand pack as well, I'm trying to roll out a proper-looking dummy whose features don't clash with the game, although given the zombies in the Steampunk pack, I guess I will be forced to settle for something of the sort below.

Haha! I'm right with you there. I'm exactly the same ingame with Minecraft, Lol! I have tens of chests full of dirt and gravel from back when I played survival and everything had a value, especially as it represented effort to break. My wife's the opposite though and goes through a file like a whirlwind..."don't need that...that's 3 months old...think I've got a copy of that." While I do my creeper impression in the background!!

Okay, guys, Steampunk support for Railcraft is now complete...for now. Here's a preview of what to expect:
(the skinpack here isn't Steampunk, but is actually my own personal Doku hybrid. But as you can see, the most visible part of the mod - the TBM engine - is now complete!)
Instructions have been given to ksheep on where to download the files. He will integrate the existing support files along with the images I created to form a slightly more playable pack.
Glimmar, if you can make an animated version of the TBM while it's moving, it'd be great. Note the middle "gills" beneath the 2 smokestacks - those need attention if you are going to animate this model.
Next in line:
Balkon's Weapons mod (combat dummy to be reskinned)
Better Farming (rakes and trees)

Well done, SunWukong and thank you.
I'm not at all familiar with Railcraft, I am ashamed to admit (trying to keep GS up to date and needing to try out weekly snapshots, means I don't get much chance to try out mods. ), and I'm not aware if it's possible to animate mods with MC Patcher (I'd be interested to know if anyone has details about that). However, I'm sure you will have made anyone using Glimmar's Steampunk and Railcraft very happy.
Over to ksheep now, who is the expert around here with regard to mods...much to my relief!
Is there any chance of this texture pack ever getting a customizer? It'd make it easier to change between default textures and alternate ones.
Glimmar has had plans to add this pack to a customizer site for some time. However, between real life stuff, adding new items from the updates, and trying to finish off a number of old stand-in textures, he hasn't had the time, and he doesn't want to hand that responsibility off on someone else as he wants more control over how it's organized.

It's probably increasingly unlikely I will upload to the customizer now. Misa and some others I believe are in the same position. Simply put, my pack has got more intertwined with the complexities of MC Patcher with features that use CTM (connected textures...in my case mostly random stuff), lighting and colour effects and many animations to items and blocks, all of which make it far too complicated to try and keep the customizer updated. I'm not even sure the customizer is up to date on all the latest features that texture artists have access to, which would make it a nightmare sorting out individual problems that users would experience.
If it's just a case of swapping certain block textures around, you'd need to check first if it conflicted with any animated block within the pack. If the block wasn't animated, then you'd have the option to swap that block with an alt using Gimp, etc. If it was animated then you'd need to find the files associated with that animated block and delete them for your chosen alt or it just wouldn't show up in game. This would also apply if the block you wanted to change was a 'connected textures' block. I hope you're getting an inkling of how difficult catering for the customizer it would be for me. Increasingly, as new features are added through MC Patcher it will get even more complicated.
In trying not to be completely negative, it might be possible at some stage to just upload my terrain.png sheet to the Customizer, along with as many alts as I can cram in, and then at least it would be possible to 'fiddle' with block types, but you'd still need to know where to put your edited terrain file in my pack and manually delete the necessary animation/ctm files that would overwrite your changes in game.
As most of my gui's and increasingly mobs and items are getting animations attached, I can't see I'd ever get round to uploading those things to the Customizer now...sorry.
Ideally, I'd love The_Fool76 to update his excellent 'Texture Mix Machine' for straightforward block and item swapping. Also having a customizer/editor mod that worked from within Minecraft itself, for blocks or items, would in my opinion be much more preferable to the on-line version, at least from my perspective. I'm imagining along the lines of a souped up version of the TooManyItems mod, which could swap stuff around between any packs you had in your texture pack folder. However, no doubt this would take considerable cooperation between MC P for things like animations and CTM features to be swapped around too.
Wow Glimmar, are you getting paid for your work? You are totally an awesome pixel artist and spending such an amazing amount of time with a game affects you real life a lot doesn't it? Ever had the idea of searching for a job as texture designer for game companies? :]
All thought that would mean less updates for us, it would be totally worth the time you spend making the textures.
Thanks, mate.
I obviously don't get paid for Minecraft texturing, as like most artists, both professional and amateur around here, I do this for the pleasure and (cough) relaxation. The addictive challenge of making something work in the game, especially for this machine centred theme, often means many late nights, when really I should be resting for family and work the next day. Such is life. Sleepless nights making something free for everyone to use, often makes me cranky if someone posts some unthinking selfish comment, but none of us are entitled to recognition or status...it's all par for the course and I do my best to be polite.
However, not being paid or asking for donations, etc. doesn't mean my work here isn't valuable to me...I can't speak for anyone else. Those who like nice bright burn your eye's out pixels will probably view my work as utter rubbish and not worth a penny cent of anyone's time!
I sometimes get paid in real life for artwork though, as it's my livelihood...I'm a professional artist of the oil and canvas school of creativity (cum amateur photographer these days), but living in a world where it's easy to cut, paste and copy anything you want, original art is viewed by many to have very little value, so the pay never quite matches the time and effort... I'll leave you to figure out which way that works.
At least you seem to understand the effort that goes into these things, and you have my thanks for that.
If all you like doing is adventuring (a most worthy Minecraft occupation) or creating a high Tolkeinesque fantasy world, then you may be better served by other excellent medieval style texture packs.
Truth be Glimmar, I wanted to go adventuring in steampunk! Flying around strange landscapes in a small zeppelin, that's the Minecraft life! So I got working on a cosy 16x adventure/rpg steampunk pack heavily inspired from Rise of Legends. What I'm wondering is do you mind? I'd like to credit you on my post (when I release the pack) and provide a link back here if that's okay with you! I know it's a bit of an odd question but some people have strange rules!
Here's a screenshot:
Working title of the pack is 'Steamy'

Lol! Heck, absolutely go for it Squid.
It would be ridiculous for me to think I have copyright on a theme and there'd be plenty of demand for a 16x Steampunk pack. So long as you're not copying or scaling down my textures directly, you have my sincere blessing...for what it's worth. I'll happily link back to yours too for mutual support and to further the 'steamy' theme in general. You've already got a great name, by the way.
Steampunk, and all it's sub-genre styles is wide open for interpretation and though I like the darker, grungy industrial side of things, albeit in as natural a world as possible, there are many who have grown up with the Final Fantasy style of punk technology and prefer a more colourful carnival style of world. Others will no doubt envisage something entirely different too.
I like to think I'm adding to the theme, in my own quirky fashion, rather than just copying verbatim what's gone before and I'm sure you'll do the same in creating a different take on things. I'll be very excited to see what you come up with, mate. From that pic it already looks excellent.
In actual fact, you'll take the pressure off me for those who ask if I'll ever make a 16x version, which I'd love to, but realistically will never have the time...without lottery help.
Have fun, Squid and let me know when you have something launched and I'll do my best to feature it immediately in my OP...that's if I'm not away convalescing after this next update!
I know that it's now possible for me to animte textures in Minecraft (btw, the animtions here work not with MCPatcher, but with Optifine + another shader pack). Is it possible for us to animate mobs too?
Chocolatin's Better Dungeons pack has a number of NPCs, including dwarves and rainbow-coloured horses. I'd like to convert the rainbow horse into a steampunk-ish "ebony horse" out of the Arabian Knights, made of gold and stuff - but I am unsure if it'd be possible to have it, say, change its colour, ie appear prismatic or holographic as opposed to a cheap MLP knockoff.

Curse PremiumHello, my good man. It's very nice to see you popping in. I hope life is keeping you fruitfully busy still.
Next time just edit to avoid double (or in this case triple) posting.
Anywhos, can't wait for the next instalment, Glimmar. Looks freaking epic.

Im just going to leave a link to my post because Im very tired right now and don't want to copy over pictures.

Im moving back to the BTW Items now and hopefully should be done with them soon (I say that a lot and it never happens)
