I'm not sure how to approach the tripwire cable. Should I make it slightly thicker and like copper cable for circuit-like wiring and rigging/cabling purposes, or leave it as intended - thin and almost invisible? For myself I'd go with the slightly thicker look.
I like this idea of thicker cable line easier to follow if need be. Would be very helpful if somebody was to build a large amount of traps.. or a placement around there base as a early alarm.Tho I might be talking out of place... I don't know how the mob spawns work in the game. I.E. as long as there lights they don't spawn or even if there lights it only helps but they still might spawn. I'm not sure of this so I'm not going to speak on it and if the light doesn't factor then just build the system closer to your base.
Sorry got off topic.
It's also now possible for me to work on the 'allitems' gui. I just hope Jeb doesn't release the 1.3 update before the weekend. Too many other things on to really get to grips with the trade and allitems menus before then, though I've got some firm plans for what to do.
.
I can't wait to see what the gui will look like for trade and allitems menus !!!!!
The tripwire is sheer awesomeness! With no limit on how far you can extend the cable...at least for creative work. Although, as far as I can see it's not possible to have vertical runs, it's still a really wonderful addition to the palette of building blocks. <--(big smile on my face for that alone).

Well, Dinnerbone said that next week will be another snapshot. Someone was asking what next Thursday will bring. However, he didn't say that there wouldn't be a release someday other than Thursday. Despite that, I think they are holding off on 1.3, as there are still more bugs to work out. Something tells me that the snapshot or two before 1.3 will mostly focus on bug fixes, and not on new features. That should give us some heads up.
As for the wire, I'd say thicker cable. I saw a video that had a fair number of uses for Tripwire, including powerlines, which I think would fit fairly well with this theme. Just say they're telegraph cables or "Ætheric Potential Conductors".

Although it keeps everyone waiting, and that's not good, from my point of view the delay for bug fixing gives me time to do the new gui justice. Hopefully!
Yes, bugs galore! I don't often notice these things, but I've had villagers reproducing like rabbits, and iron golems, spawning partly submerged...me too...totally stuck underground with villagers raining down on me...like a surrealist painting! Also very large and numerous unlit areas.
Glad you two like the thicker cable idea! Though I'm not talking of copper pipe thickness, I am thinking along the lines ( ) of copper or brass-look cabling. As mentioned, I'm looking to make something that has more uses than just a delicate line would provide for. Having said that, I was quite taken with the way the default line worked against both light and dark backgrounds. It looks like the texture is reduced when seen in-game. Pity it's not possible to have vertical runs at present.
The trip-line is probably going to be one of those textures that will spawn many variations for different purposes. It's going to be a cable and gui weekend for me, with a break or two to work on some more random CTM nature.

I'm sorry to hear that you will have to spend so much time on it. But I'm glad that your putting so much time into it so it will just be that much sweeter when it hits the market.
New snapshot came out yesterday. Now there is jungle ruins, better rain, lower enchantments and the stuff. Still no new blocks that was added so don't fret to much.
Glimmar just to remind you they change the creative menu again in the new snap shot so be prepared.
Yep! Thanks, mate.
I already downloaded the latest snapshot and had prior warning from ksheep about the new creative menu. Lol! it was referred to as more texture artist friendly, but with 4 separate .png files to work on, I had to chuckle at it's friendliness.
I had the new trade gui all laid out with rough art in all the right places and then that got shifted around too! It's a hard life being an artist! Especially a slow one like me.

THIS IS BEAST!!! I have never seen something with as much effort put in! I so love this. You must have spent WAY too long building the city and texture pack!!! I LOVE IT!

Sorry, Lionvudo. I missed your comment on the previous page due to following my email notification direct to the next page. Many thanks for your comment.
Given the time it's all enjoyable work, but it can get a little fraught if too much is going on in real life.

I missed your other comment too! Sorry 'bout that.
I found a great temple complex and despite my best efforts set the flippin' trap off! I didn't know about jungle ruins though, so thanks for that! Something I shall look forward to finding in a bit of down time tonight.
I remember liking Minecraft immensely back in 2010 when I first started the pack...Minecraft has come so far since then...making it such an amazing game in so many respects and I'm sure in another 2 years it will be far and away better than it is now. It's a game that literally knows no bounds.

Many thanks, leopardg. I appreciate that...but wait 'till you see my next update!
My wife would agree with you...I have spent way too much time and effort on this, but anyone who falls under Minecraft's spell will understand it's a game that's difficult to resist on so many levels.
There were some mob textures and guy in these but I was requested not to and honestly, I don't think I could make a robot horse!
Im almost done with the Deco Add-On, only a few items to go, and I will post the rest later.
Also, BTW has been updated, so naturally Ive updated those textures as well. To see these and download the ones above just check out my post on the Better Than Wolves forum
That said, this was a job well done. Although the amount of gears, wheels and whistles this skinpack promises might be overwhelming (some of the hostile mobs could camouflage themselves in a way) one cannot but appreciate the effort and passion put into it - after all, I am a steampunk fan myself in a way. But to be honest with you,
1. The zombies and the silverfish look more intimidating. I will be shipping them over to my private skin combo.
2. Some mod support might be appreciated, but judging from the theme it might not go far. That said, I will not mind mixing this in with Steelfeathers' Enchanted pack, if I had to.
3. Although the attempts to make a seamless game might be commendable, I sometimes feel that to attempt total realism often will defeat the purpose of the game. If you look at texture packs like Summerfields or Doku, the popularity of these packs isn't inherent in how seamless they are, but how their creators took on the challenge of Minecraft's greatest flaw - that everything is represented as a block. Everything seems to stand well together, although I will complain about the metallic chickens and the somewhat strang-looking char skins.

If you look on the OP, under the part that says "Mod Support", you will find that there are some mod textures made by various volunteers. I've been in charge of coordinating and updating this, although I haven't updated it in a while due to RL issues. In it, we've got a whole bunch of things in various states of completion, including BuildCraft, RailCraft, IndustrialCraft, Weapons Mod, Forestry Mod, Zepplin Mod, RedPower, Nether Ores, Æther, Computer Craft, and more (with even more being worked on, just need to figure out where the newest version of everything it).
Also, JesterMailMan89 has been working on Better Than Wolves, and he has been hosting those separately on the BTW forums, see the link above.

I think ksheep has answered on the mod front and the rest I'll just answer by saying I'm not too concerned about how much more popular than mine other packs may be. I make what I like to see in my own world builds and simply share with others the fruits of my labour...some seem to like it and I'm happy with the nice comments of appreciation users leave here. I am however very aware of Minecraft's greatest flaw and it's greatest strength...blocks, but under no circumstances does the limitation of working with blocks mean that one is forced to work in a 'cartoon' style (and I'm not demeaning the concept of cartoons...it is a wonderful art form)! However, bright colours and excessive patterning hurt my eyes...that's why I first started making this pack two years ago.
It's all a personal preference and not about entering a popularity contest, becoming famous, or having fans. I like things one way and others like things to be bright and cheerful! I like dark, moody atmosphere, complex machines, sci-fi, Victorian Gothic, industry and Steampunk complexity. None of which is really catered for in overly bright cartoony styled packs. Minecraft is big enough to cater for all tastes, but my theme and the way I've realized it, is never going to compete with texture packs that appeal to the majority who see Minecraft as being primarily bright...cartoony...Medieval...survival. I swim against the tide of popularity and I'm happy to do so for those who like the same things I do. The pack has done ok so far in it's two year history!
Vanilla Minecraft is very quirky to start with, so I have no feeling of guilt that my interpretation of things is quirky too, but having said that, there are many things in this pack I still wish to change, left over from earlier times when very kind folk donated skins, etc. to fill in the gaps for my slow progress. Little by little, with my own work, it gets moulded into something more akin to how I first envisaged it. There's a lot of new things to look forward to in my next update, bringing me a little closer to that quirky vision.
...speaking of which, as soon as I get a chance, I'll try to start uploading some taster pics. First priority though is finishing necessary work so that the pack is still usable after the update.
Hey, Glim, quick question: Have you had any luck with MediaFire and your ISP yet? It's not that I mind hosting it for you for the time being, but I know how you like to keep more control on your pack. Hope that things get cleared out with them soon!

Nope...still can't access MediaFire! Point of contention with my current ISP. Also, as you know I got tired of giving my details out to what seemed like good alternatives to MediaFire, only to find they had hidden disadvantages. The most inconvenient being limited bandwidth or downloaders having to signup. I think MediaFire and RapidShare have the market sewn up convenience for both parties.
Very sorry sheep, but it slipped my mind by my concentrating on this next update. Many thanks for putting up with it over the past couple of months now. Folk seem to be downloading ok from RapidShare too (I assume, with no complaints), so if you need to drop my file, don't worry. My next update can be a RapidShare only download. If folk can't follow simple instructions for downloading from there and make assumptions they have to sign up, etc. I shouldn't lose any sleep over it. The jolly pack is free, after all's said and done, and if anyone really wants it enough, they'll put a tiny bit of effort in to try and understand how to do it.
I'm moving ISPs very soon, but I was on contract and trying to squeeze as much back out before switching. You watch, I bet my switch over date will coincide with the release of 1.3 and my new ISP will turn out to be even worse! Long live the eternal pessimist!

I don't mind hosting it, really. But if you'd like to try RapidShare only and see if everyone is OK with that, go right ahead. I was just noticing how in the month that I've hosted it, I've gotten around 30K downloads of it. Not sure if there's an equal number of users between RapidShare and MediaFire, or if everyone uses MediaFire out of habit, but you should probably look at that before deciding one way or another. Still, good to hear that you should (hopefully) get that all straightened out soon.

I'm very grateful to you for hosting, sheep. It helped calm a period of mass hysteria over my choice of filesharing sites! However, it was a bit cheeky of me just forgetting you were acting as host.
I haven't and don't usually check download figures. I don't want to stop working on my pack, but I guess if I looked and only one person had downloaded, I might seriously consider retiring! If I was an actor I'd probably be one that never looked at ratings...I'd just wait for my agent to give me the sack, then I'd know for sure audiences didn't like my acting. However, I'm quite surprised there were as many downloads as that from MediaFire, especially as there's the calm before the storm of the 1.3 update. As you say, I might have to steel myself to look at my RapidShare downloads or suffer the consequences!

Curse PremiumMany thanks, vPickles. You are very kind.
He's alive!!
One should not jest about such things, so I will simply say it's nice to see you are up and around the Minecraft forums.
Hi...back!
Thanking you kindly, Zman473. Have a look back in after the 1.3 update to see more stuff.
Thanks so much, sicmap, I hope my update doesn't disappoint.
I daydream all the time! Minecraft was made for building daydreams!
Lots of nice new things there, JesterMailMan89 my good man!
Lol! Thanks, SwampFace. Much to the annoyance of everyone, my cake is a machine!
