Oh Jens, rare is why I will look for it.
Rare is also why I will horde it though
It's the reason I used to horde cocoa beans...
At least Mojang don't listen to those who want the game to be like classic. Yknow with biomless neon green vegetation and such.
Oh.
and of course, as usual, I look forward to the next update.
As the emerald ore wasn't really breaking anything in game, but giving a lot of pleasure to those who just like to find stuff, I'm glad it's back in. All it needed was the trade and currency explaining a little better and there wouldn't have been a problem to start with. That's the problem with Jens being so generous in throwing new stuff out for peeps to try every week. There isn't always time to thoroughly explain the purpose, or lack of, behind everything that's introduced.
Haha! In the days I played survival, I liked to horde stuff too!
Finally gave the 21b update a whirl to check out my enderchest and have access to the new guis. Obviously I can't really finish anything off for the new 'allitems' menu until the hard-coding is sorted out, but I can get started on it, along with the trade screen.
I'm just off to see a man about a mausoleum and pyramid. I just want to have a walk around one for myself.
Maybe not to soon, I've just started on my on pack, I and I'm really not in the mood to make mod textures at the moment sorry for getting you exited.
Good for you, mate!
I look forward to seeing your first draft.
I completely understand about not being in the mood re: mod textures. There are times when my enthusiasm for texturing completely disappears. It can be pretty draining to have to keep coming up with new ideas, especially at the pace Jens keeps things rolling along. Fortunately there's more than enough to fiddle with in Minecraft to rekindle the inspiration...building and suchlike.
Looks like it'll add a bit more work for you, but it's better than the hardcoded one.
Thanks, sheep.
Four guis for the price of one! Initial thoughts...complicated. I'll wait to see the thing working properly to be sure, but it gives me a good idea what's going to be involved. Why did I choose to texture a complicated Steampunk pack?! Lol.
Glimmar, for some reason, email notifications of your thread have started bypassing my email filter and end up in my inbox O.o
Upside: I know when stuff happens
Downside: it's so active with a variety of users, its filling my inbox O.o
Upside to that: ITS ACTIVE! (like, crazy active atm )
Edit: Just a funny little thing that has little real relevance till the last sentence

I think you're talking about the email notifications correct?
If you hover over the gear in the very top right corner of the web page you'll see "Content I Follow" in the drop down.
Click it and find this topic in the list that populates. You can then check the box and, using the drop down at the bottom of that page that reads "Choose Action", throttle the frequency of the notifications.
I like that people may still be interested in my texture pack, despite some of the crazy ideas I have for things, because it's worth me continuing to add new material, but the idea of having fans or groupies scares me a bit. I'm not the sort of person who seeks that kind of following (I hope!) and to be honest I don't think my work warrants that level of attention. Under those circumstances the responsibility to perform would detract from the relaxed enjoyment of making new things and sharing!
However, I'd be lying if I didn't get a buzz from people commenting that they liked some of the things I make, but I'm not seeking a fanbase or anything...I'm a bit long in the tooth for that!

This thread has it's quiet times and it's frenetic periods of activity. I guess everyone is sensing we're in for a treat with the next update and that it might be sooner than later, and so popping in more frequently. If the thread stays busy, then I feel inspired to continue to add new things. If it goes quiet, then there's a temptation to slip into obscure retirement and work on my city of Newglim.

So while I was rummaging through old minecraft folders, zips, and rars that have been accumulating since around late 2010 I discovered an old version of your texture pack. I'm sure that if I dug deeper I would find even older older versions but I thought this was funny, "Glimmar's Steampunk v2.4" date modified: 5/20/2011, file size: 3.33mb. It's been 1 year and 11 days since you packed up v2.4 now we are up to v5 and gained 14.07mb of awesome. I tip my hat to you sir, your work is incredible and no matter how many texture packs come out yours is the only one that I look for. Keep up the amazing work that you do, and it may seem like traffic on your thread may slow down it doesn't mean that we aren't watching it like a hawks. Long days and pleasant nights to ya.

The Creator gave me a formidable intellect and excellent verbal skills, if I can use them to make the world a better place I'm glad to. If that means tearing a new hole for some idiot, well, that's just icing on the cake.
Oh Glimmar! If I ever meet you, please expect the biggest hug ever to have existed and quite possibly a marriage proposal <3
And please dont you ever stop making/updating this texture pack. I love it so much and I love you for creating it <3
Thanks for the awesome Pack Glimmar part of the reason I bought minecraft to start with was your text pack.. Thank you for getting me into this game and your hours of hard working to make the text pack so great!!!!

Those are very inspiring words, Sanodia...thank you.
Lol! You should see what I've accumulated on my hard drive - by way of Minecraft stuff. Because I'm an eternal pessimist, I constantly back-up everything I've made. Then after a few weeks I can't decide what's safe to delete, resulting in vast collections of very similar files.

A hug and a possible marriage proposal all in one post! Now that's got to be a record for me!
Many thanks, Pandagaicp...for one very encouraging post.

Thanks, Lionvudo. I very much appreciate your words. A big welcome to the forums from me.

You are a very kind set of people to have taken the trouble to post and it's rewarding to know the little textures I do, give more than just myself some pleasure. I hope my next update meets with your approval. Thanks guys.
The tripwire is sheer awesomeness! With no limit on how far you can extend the cable...at least for creative work. Although, as far as I can see it's not possible to have vertical runs, it's still a really wonderful addition to the palette of building blocks. <--(big smile on my face for that alone).
I'm not sure how to approach the tripwire cable. Should I make it slightly thicker and like copper cable for circuit-like wiring and rigging/cabling purposes, or leave it as intended - thin and almost invisible? For myself I'd go with the slightly thicker look, but not having even tested the limitations of what can be done, I might be talking off the top of my head...as I often do!
It's also now possible for me to work on the 'allitems' gui. I just hope Jeb doesn't release the 1.3 update before the weekend. Too many other things on to really get to grips with the trade and allitems menus before then, though I've got some firm plans for what to do.
I did a couple of emerald block textures yesterday, both of which I like, so I'm using one of them to replace the sponge for now. Hope that doesn't spoil any builds for anyone, but I think the replacement is more useful. Sorry to be cryptic, but I don't want to waste any time uploading pics just now and with those guis to do, I haven't been able to finish off any of the taster movies I had planned.
Awesome.
"in the event of a root uprising i would support the robots, does that make me a bad person?"

Great! There's lots of Victorian and Steampunk architecture to find out there, if you Google it...so plenty of inspiration.

All the mod work sounds awesome, sheep and everyone. I very much appreciate your efforts.

I'm glad of the appreciation...certainly, but groupies?
Sure, why not?

Curse PremiumI'm assuming this will have the corrected .pngs for the 'allitems' gui? I will test this one out.
Snapshots coming thick and fast now!
