The ruby ore was left over from Jeb first started this, he was planing to make rubies the currency but switch to emeralds instead. So the ore block is still red. So no rubies.
I suppose it would have been a little confusing when we already have a red stone ore type. Always nice to have a variety of coloured materials. I can easily live with emeralds...I could in RL too!
Really? My Version translate it! *JOKE*
I know it. But if I choose an other language, the ä, ö, ü and ß are still there, on the signs, but not when I choose German.[
I had thought as much.
Okay, another day, I upload the picture to show you whats happen.
My current HD font (activated in MC Patcher) doesn't have support for the letters ä, ö, ü and ß, etc. But the new font I made for the next Minecraft official update will.
The new GUI is a mess and has tiling issues as well as un-editable hard-coded ********. It was not designed at all with texture packs in mind, so I'm not comfortable releasing what I have at the moment. Simply delete the allitems.png file from my texture pack so it'll use the default. Problem solved.
Sounds like you're gonna have a hard time doing the new creative GUI. D:
to not have to mess with extras folders, use Minecraft customizer
Absolutely...couldn't agree more! Except if I spent considerable time on the customizer, I'd never keep up with improving and updating the pack itself.
Also, now with all the animated gui's, mobs and random ctm stuff I'm adding in for the next update, it really does get mind-bogglingly complicated to texture and administer stuff...well for little old me it does! I'm not even sure the customiser can keep up with all the new stuff...and that adds in further complexity, trying to sort out problems there. After a busy day of working and looking after my family, I haven't the energy to do all the things one possibly could do to make it perfect. We all know Minecraft is just too big and awesome to cope with everything.
Some texture artists may have periods where they can devote 24/7 to their pack, and that's absolutely fantastic for everyone concerned. Unfortunately, my circumstances don't allow me more than an hour or two a day... max, and I'm not a quick draw artist either. I like to test and test and test new terrain textures, to make sure I'm happy with the way they look and most things get drawn from scratch, not copy-pasted off Google and that takes time. Animated textures, which I'm lovin' at the moment, take an age - one little animated item, might take all the spare time I have in an entire day!
Rest assured, whatever I create for use in my own world, I'll upload and share when I feel it's ready and works ok. The texturepack and it's availability on the Minecraft Forums (the place I consider as my online Minecraft home) is always my first priority. Customising, mods, alts and the like are by necessity things that have to wait on me having the odd bit of extra free time.
I appreciate the support of anyone who still likes my work, so this is in no way intended as a rant or lecture, just a sincere apology for not full-filling the theme's potential.
They also Just added a new Creative mode GUI today in 12w21b also fixed the emerald ore, Here is a pic...
Creative mode is now categorized so you can find Items easier
Also Emerald, emerald ore, enderchest, enderchest GUI, and other 1.3 snapshot updates if you havent seen them yet
Emerald Ore, and enderchests
Enderchest GUI, and Emerald
Cocoa Bean stages
And finally Book Gui and Pen and Quill in hotbar
I hope this helps,
Best of wishes, ~Green
I finished Cocoa Pods, nearly finished the enderchest (based it on a concept I have that the Ender was created/discovered by a mad scientist, which will explain the decoration on the top of the chest) which at present is made at x64 scale (so not sure how that will reduce to x32 - might need an entirely separate texture). I'm assuming the enderchest uses the current chest/container gui with a different heading. So I'll need to alter my new container gui to fit the extended title. So will need to wait until after the official release to properly test spacing, etc.
I will also have to wait on making a new 'allitems' gui, as it's not possible at present to properly re-texture it... it seems to be hard-coded. Looks like it might be necessary to delete the allitems gui altogether in the short term.
Thanks so much for all that, Green I appreciate your time there. I also watched a couple of quickly released youtube vids and that backed up the pics you supplied.
Glimmar I was thinking that maybe for the new emeralds you can make them look like the red stone from your 1st teaser video only green.
That's a possibility, fullmetal, but part of the reason I gave up on that spinning 'disco' ball and made a new animation (which I'm really chuffed with!) is that it was a freely available 'free to use' on-line gif, but I still felt uncomfortable using it in my pack. I'll include it in the extras for folk to switch to, but in the end I didn't want to make it a feature of the default 'Glimmar' pack.
I still have to make the emerald ore and the item, and I'm looking forward to animating those, but they may not be animated by update time. We'll see.
Sadly, all these new things have kind of pushed my work on a greater variety of Villager types back down the list. I'm looking to make a nice mixture of automatons (steam, clockwork and electrically driven 'robots') and Victorian/Steampunk humans. I don't think the humans should be overtly steampunk though, rather more stereotypical human 'trade' types with a hint of brass gadgets to add further variety.
Sounds like you're gonna have a hard time doing the new creative GUI. D:
Yes, I noticed that too. It's a bummer.
I'm sure it was a last minute oversight on Jebs part, like the 'swamp' issue...I just hope it doesn't take as much time to sort though. As I mentioned above, it's going to be necessary to switch back to the default. As this effects all texture packs, it won't be long before there's a public outcry.
I was looking through the items.png for the latest snapshot and found that there is a ruby right above the emerald even though its not implemented in the game yet. It could possibly be a second currency item like 1 ruby is two emeralds and 2 emeralds is 1 ruby. If you haven't noticed here is a pic...

Good day to all, ~Green
Good thinking, Green.
I had seen it, but I'm notorious for missing and forgetting stuff!
Speaking of trading and villagers and all, I hadn't realized just how much the villagers interact with other denizens of the Minecraft cosmos. I actually witnessed one of the robot villagers push a cow down one of my hedge-lined lanes, through a gate into a field and then stood watching it as if to make sure it didn't wander off again. Having never seen anything like that before, it made the hairs on the back of my neck slightly raise. Like suddenly the villagers had become sentient.
You lot are all probably well aware of this sort of behaviour!
I wonder if anyone has worked on a mod that allows you to programme villagers to do certain tasks. That would be quite cool for automaton workers!
for the record, minecraft villagers ARE sentient. so are creepers. the rest of the mobs are just lifeless bits of code though.
Lol! Hopefully not too sentient in the case of villagers - except I imagine Mojang programmers could have great fun at our expense...if they so wished.
Haha, even with my relatively closeted lifestyle, I knew that 'nasty' mobs were a little more intelligent in respect of avoiding light and negotiating obstacles, but I wasn't quite prepared for villagers having the ability to herd cows into fields!
I remember seeing a mod over a year ago where someone was enabling mobs to be programmed to do certain tasks. Having been around, initially lurking, since the beginning of 2010, I've seen many cool mods come and many excellent ones go or be subsumed by other mods/Mojang.
Hey Glimmar, me and a couple of buddies are working on a very large scale adventure map and expect to get some downloads. We found your texture pack perfect for the style of the map and wanted to ask if we could use it? Thanks- Skullcrusher34

Could you drop me a private message, Skullcrusher, and let me know what you want to do with my textures.
Ideally, I prefer my pack only to be available and downloaded from my thread here, for obvious reasons. If that's all you want to do, ie. recommend Glimmar's Steampunk and point people in the direction of my thread to download the pack, then I'm happy for you to adventure away. However, If your adventure map requires alterations to my pack - so making it necessary to redistribute a variation of my pack along with your adventure - then I need to issue you with certain conditions and the necessary permissions, which is best done via PM.
Assuming you agree to my conditions, I'd be happy to advertise your adventure (along with a vid or pic) in my 'Adventure Map Section', for some two way traffic.
Just thought Id drop by sense it has been a while.
Real life and Diablo 3 had me totally forget about all the textures I had been doing but Im back now and almost ready to release a rather large update. Hopefully by tomorrow at most I will have the following things textured completely
-Kaos's Add-On for BTW
-Simply Horses
-DoggyTalents
-Magicats
-And update for BTW items (might not be complete)
Got about 85% of this already done and literally have photoshop open working on the others right now.
P.S. Hey Glimmar, do you have any item alts? Just wondering because while some items I make are about 99% me I almost always use your item textures as a "base" to start with.

Lol! The answer: 'Imagination', and like the proverbial iceburg, what you see in my pics and vids may only be the public tip of my 'secret' base!

i know the emalrals are in game already what i mean is that you may be able to make blocks out of them like gold, iron, or diamond
