having a bit of an issue. when ever I try to play using this TP the game crashes. when I install the patch it works fine but as soon as I set this as the TP and try to open the choose world menu it crashes. I am currently running IC2, BC 3.x, RP2, and a few minor mods. please help
Ya I know but it works fine with the patch installed when I am running an SD texture pack. but as soon as I switch to this texture pack and try to open the world list it crashes and when I re-open minecraft it crashes immediately and no errors show up in my modloader file.

WillHoot, I know it's a lot of hassle, but have you tried running the pack on a fresh install of Minecraft, minus all the mods you're using? Also, when you say you've patched the game, do you mean with MC Patcher or Optifine? The texture pack should work fine with either, but certainly with MC Patcher once you patch, it will mess with the files you installed for your mods.
Either run the patcher on a clean install, then install your mods, making sure everything matches as regards version numbers, or on a clean install of Minecraft, load your mods into MC Patcher and let it patch the game and install the mods at the same time. I don't use any other mods (being the holy and pure kind of guy I am! ) so I'm not the expert in this area, but I think the rule is always to install the patcher first...then your mods.
However, I always use 'TooManyItems', and the game is always stable when combined with MC Patcher. I would bet it's something to do with the order in which you're installing things, mods not working after using MC Patcher, or some conflict with version numbers. As Zeefu says, texture packs aren't usually the culprit, although we had an issue with Optifine not liking spaces in my color.properties file!
If you can stand the hassle of working from a clean MInecraft, I think you stand a better chance of finding what's causing the problem.

Yes I use MC Patcher. I will try using it on a clean build, but I have been told that forge needs to be installed before MC Patcher. no offence but if I have to chose between my mods and this texture pack I will choose the mods.

I believe that Optifine should fix your problems. It typically behaves better with Forge, and I'm fairly sure you can install it later in the process.

No offence taken, Will. but you shouldn't have to choose. I think the conflict is occurring between MC Patcher and one of your mods.
Ah! you have the better of me with regard to Forge, I've never used it, but googling MC Patcher and Forge seems to bring up a known conflict issue at the moment. So I think you've hit on what the problem is. You could of course try Optifine instead of MC Patcher. Have you tried any other HD packs along with your forge and MC Patcher combo?
The reason why I say MC Patcher should always be applied first, is that when the patcher does it's stuff, it changes the current minecraft.jar for a patched version and anything that was dropped in the jar prior to patching, is stored as a separate renamed .jar file.
Apart from MC Patcher's color.properties file, there are only graphics in the pack, no hidden code, etc. Texture packs rarely cause issues with any mods, apart from mismatched mod texture styles.
Incidentally, which of the two packs are you trying to use...x32 or x64?
[edit] Lol! Doubly ninja'd. I'm so slow! Thanks, sheep and Scarrboros.
will you ever be releasing the newglim map for download? looks like a place i definitely want to visit.
(wait... am i just missing the link? ive just finished reading the OP looking for it to no avail, yet it seems like something id do, missing the one thing im looking for)

No, rest assured you haven't missed anything in the OP.
I often get PM's asking for my city map and I keep meaning to have a stock answer ready or put one up in the OP.
One day I will make it available, if anyone is still interested that is, but at the moment it's my much needed retreat and testing ground and has quite literally and worryingly become a virtual home from home. I feel very much like Robinson Crusoe there and it's a wonderful place to relax...being the anti-social type I'm not one for multi-player.
The horrible thing is that, the day I do upload it, will probably be the same day I call an end to Minecraft. I haven't the desire (or time) to start over on another giant build and would lose interest in Newglim if I thought others were running around in it. I suppose I've just become far too attached to it and there's still much I want to build and make videos of yet.
I have this funny mental picture of me opening it up as a server and telling anyone who visited to, "CLEAR OFF!" or creepily following people around telling them, "Don't touch that! No you can't go in there. Get off the grass! Leave that golem alone, I just polished it this morning!"

i understand completely. i built my texture test facility with the intention of releasing it with my pack, yet when i finally did i felt quite odd about letting other people into it... it does become like a home really. i understand now, if you never release it, that there's a good reason for it.
and here i thought it was just due to my own weirdness i felt like that about my map XD

Use fresh install and use MCP to install your mods. MUCH simpler, and it will tell you when there is interference. Just look at the "installing other mods" section in the MCP page. OR, do what I do and use optifine (though I still install it with MCP). There are currently no problems to my knowledge.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has sentimental feelings for his Minecraft home. Except I think my protective feelings for Newglim are bordering on being certifiable!
There's probably a good idea for an adventure map or story there.
before you release V6 can you add the green crystals back into the coal so the reason fire/torches burn green is back
I'll have a think about it, Oddbaalll.
With the limited range of pixels provided by x32 my last attempt appeared too busy and 'bitty' in trying to represent a coal and green crystal like ore in the same square. I could make a single large coal/crystal out-cropping, but I'd lose it's use as a building material in creative. However, it might be possible to make something out of using veins of coal and crystal (almost like marble) that could work in survival and creative.
You've reminded me that I was going to have a go at converting the cactus into some kind of green crystal. It's all a question of that 'time' dimension stuff we're all stuck in. Too many ideas and not enough time.

if I may, how about you keep the ore block the same, but change the coal item to include the crystals.

That's actually a very good idea, vfd42.
It would also give me reason to work on a nice little animation (given the opportunity), cos I'm none too taken with my current Coal item. I don't think I'll be able to do anything for this next update, but when the dust settles I'll have a look at doing some alts for the ores.
Hello,
I have a little big problem I couldn't solve myself.
I've updatet Minecraft to v1.2.5, also MCPatcher to 2.3.6_03 and got the latest Texturepack Glimmar's Steampunk.v5 32x.
I played with Steampunk TP since MC 1.8/1.9, and never I had a problem. But yesterday the Problem starts.
First off, what language are you using? Because there are NO problems whatsoever with the HD Fonts in MCPatcher.
Second, are you sure you're using the latest version of MCPatcher? That might be another problem. If not, then simply delete your old MCPatcher.exe and download a new one off the forum. If that still doesn't work, then I recommend trying OptiFine.
Third, are you selecting "Custom Colors" In regard of the textures in MCPatcher?
Fourth, do you know any mods that might be conflicting with MCPatcher? I don't use MCPatcher, I use OptiFine which is much more picky with compatability, and I have Modloader, Zombe Modpack, TMI, and Rei's Minimap and they all work fluently with Glimmar's Steampunk tex pack.
Fifth, in regards of making spoilers, here is how:

I hope this helped. If you need anything else, you can email me at [email protected]
I have a question about the mod TPs. if I have changed my block IDs will the mod pack still work? will it still texture all my blocks? because some of my blocks aren't retextured, and i was wondering if it was because i changed the block IDs or because of incomplete mod texture packs.

The mod retextures don't care about the Block IDs, but not all of the mods have been completely retextured yet. Which ones are not showing up as complete? I know that Railcraft and IndustrialCraft still have a fair bit of work to do, and there are some odds and ends on the others (not to mention that most of the retextures are using the MC 1.1 version of the mods, which may have changed significantly since then). Hope this helps!
Selected Language: German - I've tried english (UK and Pirate) and the German specific Letters (ä, ö, ü, ß) are there, on the Sign's.
Do you also know how I put screenshots from my PC in my Answers/threads, of ist it only possible from an Imagehoster?
If you type German letters on signs, they'll be there regardless of what language you have it set to. Changing the language will not automatically translate signs for you.
And for the images, I don't believe that you can directly upload them, you'll need to post them on a hosting service such as ImageShack or PhotoBucket.
Tex Packs don't crash games.
