It suddenly occurred to me that I had been taking it for granted that I would be able to make copper tanks out of the Netherstone block and fill them with water. When I tried it and poured my first bucket of water onto the metal bottom, it just steamed and evaporated!!! Oh no! This is a deal breaker for sure! :sad.gif:
However on further experimentation, I discovered that so long as the bottom of the tank is lined with another material, eg. stone, then water will happily fill the tank and lap nicely at the sides.
So above are a few hastily crafted vats that the sheep think I built for them! :biggrin.gif: I think they like the fact that I'm using a big furnace to heat the water. Now I just need to connect the plumbing and it'll be...sheep dipping time! Yay!

The important thing is running the 'MC patcher' after you've installed my texture pack. That will fix the flowing water in hell and other graphical glitches. Make sure you point the patcher to my texture in the texture pack folder (line 3 on the MC patcher programme). The Water in hell glitch is what happens with all greater than 16x16 textures without using 'MC patcher' by xau.
There's also a handy 'how to' video link on page 1 too!

This is just absolutely gorgeous, you have no idea, I'm giddy anticipating the release of the nether expansion. I /love/ the feel of industrial-style iron mill, and that slow sand is by far the best I've seen. Top it off, I'm quite the fan of the Art Deco style glowstone, it's going to bring a whole new dimension to my buildings. :3 Just.. brilliant work, overall, I really can't offer much more than streams of praise at this point.
...Would you possibly consider throwing us the .png's for the nether blocks a bit early for the self-splicers out there? :3c I've a weakness for patience, yes, but I want to give these a test run like you couldn't believe. ;w;

My "stand-alone" favorite is the Tiffany Lightstone. However, I would agree (someone else already said this) that the Art Deco version is the more versatile version. The Tiffany version does look out of place in the Nether. The Art Deco version looks like it fits well in the Nether, and looks like it's very usable throughout your world.
Basically, although the Tiffany makes a great lamp (and is my favorite of the 3), it looks out of place in certain uses. Whereas, the Art Deco never looks out of place, and still looks good in other settings. The Makintosh (or however it's spelled) is one I would prefer to not use. It looks okay, but the other two look so much better.

Thanks, I had hoped that those issues were fixed when Notch created texture support. He does say he hates people messing with the internal code.

I'm just playing with some other designs too (it's actually one of the most pleasant texturing jobs I've done yet), and if I don't come up with anything better, I'll go with the 'Art Deco' version and perhaps have a 'Tiffany' texture pack also.
I agree, the Tiffany looks better above ground in the more traditional roles of glass, but something a little more organic looking, like the Art Deco block, has many more uses other than just glass looking items. That's why I'm just tinkering a bit more to see if I can come up with something that can also be used for glowing wire mesh or grates for those furnace type settings. If I can't fit the designs on the terrain.png, I'll start a little glowstone glass collection file and keep it near the top of this thread. Similarly with the painting gizmos, gadgets and decorations.
I will try and get the 1.4 update out before the weekend, if all goes well. I've a little extra time today and tomorrow to finish things off. Then I can get on to the pumpkinblur.png for the pumpkin diving helm, and then on to what I've been looking forward to the most, the gadgets and extra's for the 'paintings'.

Really sorry it's a deal breaker for you.:sad.gif: I really only play in singleplayer, but I well understand why in multi-player it would be difficult for you to use. When I've time, I will also do a more traditional interpretation of the Nether blocks for folks like yourself.
Perhaps you can just use this pack for your singleplayer creations and switch to another for multiplayer. Notch in theory made switching simple to do now, so you can have the best of both worlds! :smile.gif:
I'm liking this art pack more and more, the only thing that is a downside is that MC isn't supporting this size of pack
yet and have to resort to the HD Pack fix.
Either way Steampunk is my favorite style next to Cyberpunk.

I'm curious to see what these glowstones would look like without the distinct borders.
Removing the borders would make them look more natural in the nether, and the design could still function fairly well as a lamp.
Except, along with the iron/copper plate and the slowsand, I don't want the Glowblock lanterns to look 'natural' or be a continuous texture. The idea is that the Nether is the remains of some vast underground civilisation. The glowstones are simply lights (with imagination, I suppose they could be other things too, like energy/creature pods, etc.), but I'm not too fussed about them having to look natural, infact the more manufactured they look, the better from a 'Steamcraft' point of view!
From hopping around the Nether with it looking like some vast factory, I really did get a weird feeling that I was invading the remains of a long dead civilisation. Ruins were always at the top of my wish list of things for Notch to introduce and this is along the same lines, probably larger than Notch envisaged, but at least inkeeping with a Steampunk theme.
I have tried the glowstones without borders and they weren't as distinctive against the rivetted panels (in my opinion) and weren't as effective as lamps, windows, grates, etc in the world above.
I could do a few examples for the terrain file though, and then the 'splicers' amongst you can chop and change.
