this is a great texture pack glimar! but i was wondering if you could make a fallout inspired pack ihope people will agree with me because i was hoping to create an rp falloutish server but i just can't seem to find a pack that would work well for that sort of thing, i like your texture packs style and i would be extremely happy if you excepted my request. thanks !!!!!

I think it works well in a fallout setting as is. World Out of Time is a Fallout inspired adventure map designed with this texture pack in mind. It's quite awesome.
featured it as well.
On another note after looking through the technic launcher mod packs I saw that one of them has a mod called Thaumcraft. It's compatible with RedPower, Buildcraft, and Industrial Craft.
It could use some steampunking (er... yeah). I started a new world with it and it's fun as all hell. If no one else uses it and would like to retexture it I'll start looking into/learning how to. I think this could be well worth my time.

Bad news, everyone. This pack (which I had linked to above) seems to be borrowing some textures from here. Now, he does acknowledge that there are some placeholders (although they don't seem to be attributed), but it seems like he is planing on replacing them. I have commented that he may want to check with Glimmar about this, and either get proper permission and attribute them, or replace the textures. I haven't reported it yet as I want to give him time to explain himself, but I thought I should give a heads up here.
As far as I can tell, the textures being borrowed are: Piston, Dispenser, Redstone, Glass, Mob Spawner, TNT Top and Bottom, Sapling, Wheat (possibly), Birch Tree, Mushroom Some of this is speculation, but most of it is obviously directly from this pack and the alts. I am going solely on the preview image on PM, which may be old, so he may have already fixed the problems (I haven't had a chance to download it), so I'd say give him a few days, maybe a week, to sort things out before we force him to take it down (after all, it seems like a fair number of the textures are original, including all the items).
EDIT: Just to be clear, I suggest that we DO NOT RUSH IN THERE AND REPORT HIM
Give him a chance to explain first, he has stated in his change-log that there are still a number of borrowed textures that he is replacing. I'm sure that with a few nudges, he'll focus on working on replacing these textures next. First, I have to say "WOW!!!" I love this pack, and I've been using it for a couple months now. I recently got back into steampunk everything, so this made my year
Second, I'm a noob when it comes to Minecraft, sorta. I got it back in January, and have installed/reintalled/deleted so many mods, texture packs, and saves that I think I'm becoming whatever it is after noob I'm using 1.2.5 if that helps for my following question.
This mcpatcher thing. I've used it with your textures and BTW, and it worked just fine. A few days ago, I pulled my BTW (the entire .minecraft folder) out and put in a new install, then the Tropicraft and Eloraam's RedPower2. I was using soartex's texture pack, and while it was nice, it didn't want to work with mcpatcher. I fear your's won't either. It black-screens the game. Optifine will not work at all.
Is there a way that I could pull something from the old (BTW) install into this new one that would make your pack work? I'm getting the water and lava(small 1/4 sections only) on all the dirt blocks (kinda like a picture of each, but in these they animate) and the liquids are not flowing. I know how to open the .jar file and add to it from other .zips. I'm not a computer noob, just a minecraft/java noob I guess I'm asking if there's a .class file that mcpatcher rewrites to make this work, and if I could pull one or more of those without everything mcpatcher does to the .jar file.
Thank you for your help, and also for the extras I figured out how to get TexMix working with your terrains, and damn this is too much fun!!!

Lets step through this:
Did you start with a fresh install of Minecraft?
Did you install MCPatcher first?
Are the installed mods updated for the latest version of Minecraft?
Did you remove the META-INF file when installing the mods (if needed)?
Did you check on the threads for the mods to see if they are compatible?
Hopefully one of these will help answer your question.

1. Yes
2. No...it won't work with something, see #5.
3. Yes
4. Yes...first thing I do before installing anything
5. Everything seems to be compatible except for MCP, I think it's Tropicraft that doesn't like it...or else it's the MCForge. Tropicraft says to use Optifine, but every version of it doesn't seem to want to work. I haven't tried the water shaders, no idea if they'd do the same thing, but I'm willing to try. I watched the video here: http://www.minecraft...iews-redpower2/ , and he mentions the water shaders. Not sure which ones he meant though.
Wow! Everyone's been so busy...it's good to see! I'm still being incredibly brief here by not answering to individual posts, so's I can give as much of my freetime to updating.
@ JesterMailMan: Awesome mod work! Many, many thanks!
@ Tyken132: Love those blocks soooo much...thank you! I love dinky little models and you did fantastic! I always wanted to make 3d models of my blocks and you beat me too it!
@ ksheep: As always...you have my gratitude for holding the fort while I keep to a strict work schedule, despite the fact that you have your own study pressures. Many thanks.
@ Everyone: Even though I'm hanging back, I am scanning the posts here each day and looking at suggestions, etc. so please don't think I'm being ignorant. I'm grateful to everyone who helps out patiently with solutions to common problems.
And I thought animating stuff was tedious! Changing the font (which is a mammoth task in itself!) solved the above mentioned issues, but created problems for every single gui in the pack, so I've been painstakingly going through each gui fixing stuff (and editing some things which have niggled me for months), and this has all taken a lot of time away from some exciting animations I had planned. Incidentally, as regards the edits I've made to some of the older gui's, please bear in mind these are only temporary solutions, as they will be replaced by more detailed functional looking textures (with animations) when time permits.
Anyways, herewith for your delectation is a little taster of my next update changelog, as it stands at this point in time (it's in a spoiler...'cos there's a lot!):
Changelog Glimmar's Steampunk v6 for Minecraft v1.2.5+/6 (Work in Progress)
The old 'extras' download is now back in the main pack again. I had a little time to wittle the extras' down to textures that were still relevant and to update with some new alts. I decided it would be simpler to maintain if everything was together again. Sadly, I tended to ignore it as a seperate download.
If your machine will stand it, there is definately more reason to choose the x64 pack. Most of the new animations included in this update have been made at x64 scale and do look much finer in the x64 pack. Also I may be adding more x64 terrain blocks and items in the future, as the fancy takes me...so keep a look-out!
All particles in particles.png have now been made hi-rez in both x32 and x64 packs.
New animated paddle-less steampunk boat. Until I get round to animating some type of paddle wheel, I have removed the unsatisfactory stationary wheel texture and designed things to be a little more ambiguous as to the method of propulsion. The boat is still powered by steam which drives something, but that 'something' is hidden from view under the water, though you see animated spinning cogs in the boat.
The old paddle boat and some new alts are in the new 'alternative textures' folder in the pack. However, please note, alternative boat designs will not match the new boat animations, so it may be necessary to put up with moving parts not quite matching, or remove the 'boat ....... properties' files from the 'anim' folder in the pack.
New boat icon on the item sheet to reflect changes to the boat texture.
New cog animations to all three Iron Golem designs. Have fun finding them!
New Iron Golem4 with animated cogs, counter and arcane electrical eye.
Fixed a line of missing pixels on the top of the Iron Golem heads.
New animated Eye of Ender item (x64 version worth checking out in the x64 pack).
New animated Eye of Ender on the End Portal Frame (again better x64 version).
New animated Redstone Dust. A little free .gif I found and adapted for the purposes of this pack.
New clouds.png graphic.
Tweaked the sky colour to fit the new clouds.
New animated Redstone Ore (courtesy of Lady Eternity and Proudfoot).
New animated Gold Ore (courtesy of Lady Eternity and Proudfoot).
New Book item.
New Pen and Book item.
New Book gui.
The new 'book' gui required a whole new font designing. Letter size and spacing for the old Berylium font meant that the book pages only looked half filled by the time you'd used up your quota of letters for each page.
New font - put together by my own fair hand and dullard brain! Much kudos to Nuin for his excel spreadsheet that takes the grind out of calculating letter spacing. Even so, this took up a couple of spare days to find an appropriate font and squeeze it into 1024x1024 grid...and I thought animation was tedious!
As the new font is more spacious, the labels on all my new guis needed reworking...wasting yet more time that I'd hoped to spend on animation.
Sign text now has a shiny brass coloured look to it. Text is generally bolder and coupled with 'brass lettering' is much more noticeable. I intend to add slight shadow to text so that sign lettering looks even more brass-like.
Edited the sign item to reflect the change of sign letter colouring.
New container.png gui. Otherwise known as the chest interior. I designed a system of pull-out brass specimen drawers, with a flip-up active menu. The idea was to have something in-keeping with my own recent guis, that would more clearly display items, along with a more 3-dimensional feel.
Edited the achievement 'bg.png' gui. Upped the resolution for editing in the future and added a brass label in-keeping with new gui style.
Edited the 'alchemy.png' gui. Increased length and changed position of brass labels to accomodate new font size.
Edited the 'allitems.png' gui with a new brass label, in-keeping with general style of new guis and new font size.
Extensively edited the 'crafting.png' gui with new longer brass labels, new grungy brass inventory to better show items and tidied up placement and shading of textures throughout. Also increased resolution to 1024x1024.
Edited the 'enchant.png' gui - increased length and changed position of brass labels to accomodate new font size. Included a new animated valve/tungsten bulb and an animated counter (both at the top of the gui).
New 64x alt terrain textures in the 'alt' folder, courtesy of Lady Eternity and Proudfoot.
Connected Textures* support for Optifine, courtesy of Demi Person. This is only to prevent Optifine reverting to default Minecraft textures for glass, etc., it does not give true Connected textures, as I feel these are not necessary for my glass, sandstone and bookshelves. My sandstone is already connected, glass is supposed to be structural (so I don't want great gaps) and my 'chemist drawer' bookshelves would look silly as wide drawers.
Thanks for your patience...more stuff to follow...in time...so back to work.
I have spoken to Mjameshayter and he's behaving very decently and responsibly by removing the pack until he's replaced all the placeholders. As ksheep mentioned earlier, please:
DO NOT flame, report or leave offending comments in his thread.
I am more than happy with the action he is taking and hopefully his pack, which is excellent by the way, will be up and running again soon...minus my work.

Sorry about that…
Sheep, you did nothing wrong there. Although he gave some credit, it wasn't clear, nor did he ask or receive permission, and it states in my licence that although I allow use of my textures as placeholders, it is only for illustrative purposes to show the pack off as it is being worked on. Under no circumstances do I allow my textures to be packaged up in a WIP pack and then be offered as a separate download.
However, so that folk don't go off with the wrong impression, here is what I posted in his Planet Minecraft thread:
Mjameshayter, hi.
This does go against my usage agreement.
I appreciate your circumstances (I'm a dad a few times over!), but if you check my MInecraft Forums licence it does state I allow use of my textures as 'placeholders' only for illustrative picture purposes and not for download.
Here are the relevant sections in my licence, which was in effect when you launched this pack:
"You are free to use this pack as a base for creating your own pack and free to upload pics/videos to show work 'in-progress'"..."However, please don't release your texture pack whilst it still contains any artwork from this pack."
I do not allow any of my textures to be distributed outside my Minecraft Forum thread in someone else's download, unless with express permission. I have checked and you haven't asked, nor received permission. Also, although you credit me as using my pack as a basis to work on, you have not made it clear, as I can see from your credits above, which is my work and which is yours.
It's also a little disingenuous of you to state that updating (ie. replacing my textures with your own) will be a top priority, when you have been using and distributing my work without permission for the past six months!
What is even more disturbing, looking back through your posts, is that you have given permission to others to use this pack for their own projects with my work still included! (see page 7 of comments. Almost one of your first posts!).
Understanding your circumstances, I do not wish to be heavy-handed and will not be reporting this at this time, but as a condition I do expect you to display a link to my thread, clarify in your credits above (not just in the pack or changelog) which textures of mine you are still using and next time please ask or abide by my licence requirements. Also, please do make it a priority to swap my work out with your own.
Do not give permission to others to use this pack as the basis for their own work whilst any work belonging to me is included. You do not have that authority.
Otherwise...great work, great texture pack and best wishes to you and your family at this time.
Glimmar

I am more than happy with the action he is taking and hopefully his pack, which is excellent by the way, will be up and running again soon...minus my work.
EDIT 2:
Sadly I found it necessary to send another concerned PM as all credit to Glimmar's Steampunk has been removed, but there are still a number of my modifed and un-modified textures in his pack. Here are the contents of my PM and the list of offending textures for the record:
I don't want to clutter up your texturepack thread with more complaints. However, you still have modified textures of mine on your terrain.png file, which you are still offering for download without my permission, and more annoyingly you have completely removed any reference to me in your credits, so users will assume the following textures are yours:
From top left to bottom right:
- Slightly colour modified original Sapling.
- The centre part of my Dispenser.
- The top control knobs from my original Furnace (un-modified).
- My original Fir tree sapling, possibly slightly colour modified but otherwise exactly the same.
- My Wheat/Corn slightly colour modified and darkened, but exactly the same.
- My original foliage, both transparent and simple, slightly colour modified, but exactly the same.
Please immediately remove those textures, or properly credit me until you replace them with your own. The way you have things at the moment is less acceptable than before and I have been more than reasonable so far.
I'm still holding back from reporting this pack, as I genuinely understand your circumstances, but I expect the textures to be removed or properly credited within the week...one or the other.
@ Tyken132: Love those blocks soooo much...thank you! I love dinky little models and you did fantastic! I always wanted to make 3d models of my blocks and you beat me too it!
Glad you like it. I even did my how-to tutorial while making these so you can see them being made if you like, or just find an easier way to make a full set yourself.

Loved the video! If I was a rich man I'd order an entire set and display the lot in a big antique cabinet.
After I get my update finished and I get round to sorting my OP out again, may I show the vid in some way? I think it might be of great interest to visitors.

Right! I really must get back to my update work. [disappears in a puff of steam]
1. Yes
2. No...it won't work with something, see #5.
3. Yes
4. Yes...first thing I do before installing anything
5. Everything seems to be compatible except for MCP, I think it's Tropicraft that doesn't like it...or else it's the MCForge. Ok here is what, from reading your posts, I think the problem might be. You must uncheck ALL the default mcpatcher mods including randomobs and hd textures (well, not randomobs, but optifine has that functionality so it is a fluff mod that will do nothing). Don't worry, optifine does all this too. That could very easily be your biggest conflict. However, without looking into the mod pages I cannot verify this.
btw, did you say you were using mcpatcher to install the texture packs O.? If so, I suggest NOT doing that, and instead placing the .zip of the tp in the "texture packs" folder. This can be found in your .minecraft (or minecraft in macs) folder, same place you find the minecraft.jar, just up a level. If you are not doing so, I apologize.
On another note, make sure to install them in the correct order, and I highly recommend installing with SOLELY MCPatcher. Using that and a program like 7zip or winrar can screw things up mightily fast!
...upon a glance at btw it says in giant screaming letters "incompatible with everything." I am inclined to NOT believe that, but would suggest attempting to run minecraft without btw installed to double check. A glance at Redpower left me with no info on Redpower's incompatibilities (I will say I did not look very hard.) So, the suggested plan of attack would be each of the above steps one at a time until it works. Good luck
Secondly, I have added a download link to my post on the BTW Forums for all the files and have install instructions as well
Link: http://sargunster.co....php?f=3&t=3993
Finally, I have added a video to showcase the progress so far (Music if from Vernian Process but I think it turned out a bit obnoxious)
Link:
I may not be updating here as often and I don't want to take up so much space all the time with each post so Ill give out bigger / more infrequent updates on here

No, here's what I tried.
1. I deleted minecraft.jar. Started the game, forced update, and got the title screen. Quit game.
2. Started the new MCPatcher. Yes, everything was checked (I'll try unchecking them all). Started the game, got to title, Quit game.
3. In the .jar (manually): ML, MCF, NEI.
4. In the mods folder: Craftguide, RedPower(7 mods), Tropicraft.
(I have the texture pack in it's folder. I never install those to a .jar.)
5. Started the game. I get blackscreen now. No idea what the error is since MCP isn't running and the error screen doesn't stay up, it flashes then blackscreens.
I just found out there's a new version of Forge, I'm putting that in soon. But I don't think that would do much for this problem.
I pulled my BTW install out of the app data folder...it's saved elsewhere, so no, I'm not trying to run BTW. It doesn't like Forge.
I did have Tropicraft and RedStone Power working fine before, but I missed the Steampunk. The only problem I'm having is the water/fire on the dirt blocks, and nothing flows. I did not run MCP for this first install, nor did I have any texture pack in it's folder. I relied on what those 2 mods had.
I haven't found a list of things that work with RedPower, but there is a list of things that work with Forge, it's here: http://www.mod-build...-of-forge-mods/

I'm not a computer noob, just a minecraft/java noob
Thank you for your help, and also for the extras
Lets step through this:
- Did you start with a fresh install of Minecraft?
- Did you install MCPatcher first?
- Are the installed mods updated for the latest version of Minecraft?
- Did you remove the META-INF file when installing the mods (if needed)?
- Did you check on the threads for the mods to see if they are compatible?
Hopefully one of these will help answer your question.1. Yes

Curse PremiumWow!
**************************************
What I've been doing...
More animated things would have found there way into the pack at this point, was it not for the new 'book' feature planned for the next official Minecraft update. The current Berylium font by nuin I've been using, doesn't work well with the new book in terms of spacing...and, coupled with the fact some folk have found this font difficult to see on signs and it lacks support for certain characters (ie. ñ á é à ó ú Å Ä Ö, etc), prompted me to make my own font.
Changelog
Glimmar's Steampunk v6 for Minecraft v1.2.5+/6 (Work in Progress)
New font now adds support for letters ñ á é à ó ú, etc.

Curse PremiumI have spoken to Mjameshayter and he's behaving very decently and responsibly by removing the pack until he's replaced all the placeholders. As ksheep mentioned earlier, please:
DO NOT flame, report or leave offending comments in his thread.
I am more than happy with the action he is taking and hopefully his pack, which is excellent by the way, will be up and running again soon...minus my work.
***************************************************************
Glimmar

EDIT 1:
I have spoken to Mjameshayter and he's behaving very decently and responsibly by removing the pack until he's replaced all the placeholders. As ksheep mentioned earlier, please:
DO NOT flame, report or leave offending comments in his thread.
I am more than happy with the action he is taking and hopefully his pack, which is excellent by the way, will be up and running again soon...minus my work.
The Font is really hard to see if you do not have the window at fullscreen. o
really cool pack otherwise I just downloaded the 5V_64X version and I really like it.

Curse PremiumGlad you like it. I even did my how-to tutorial while making these so you can see them being made if you like, or just find an easier way to make a full set yourself.

Curse PremiumMany thanks! Should progress a good stage more in the next download...not sure if you saw my forthcoming update 'changelog' on the previous page.
Glad you like the pack.
As mentioned above, check out my upcoming update WIP 'changelog' on the previous page.
I agree with you re: the current font. My new font is a lot bolder, slightly bigger and brass coloured on signs, so it's very much more noticeable. it also provides for certain characters like: ñ á é à ó ú Å Ä Ö, etc. Available in the next update.
Loved the video! If I was a rich man I'd order an entire set and display the lot in a big antique cabinet.
After I get my update finished and I get round to sorting my OP out again, may I show the vid in some way? I think it might be of great interest to visitors.
***************************
Right! I really must get back to my update work. [disappears in a puff of steam]
Good luck
Ok guys, TheHoboHunted has been helping me out with the items over on the BTW forums and Ive come to give a few updates.
Firstly, here is the new "btwitems01" file
The place holder items are from Vattic's Faithful Mod support
Link: http://www.minecraft...emany-mods-125/
Secondly, I have added a download link to my post on the BTW Forums for all the files and have install instructions as well
Link: http://sargunster.co....php?f=3&t=3993
Finally, I have added a video to showcase the progress so far
Link:
I may not be updating here as often and I don't want to take up so much space all the time with each post so Ill give out bigger / more infrequent updates on here
My wip 32x texture pack.
