Well, I'm 'gobsmacked' as they say around here in the UK. It's a great and delightful surprise to see you popping in, Fool. I've missed your technical and creative views on Minecraft. I hope you and yours are happy and well and look forward to you quickly catching up on things. Every time I look at my alts I always think of your 'Texture Mix Machine' and still prefer it as a solution to folk's need to edit things to their satisfaction. I can't quite cope with the complexities of the Minecraft Customiser and the amount of time I'd have to invest in managing it.
That mixer is fairly high on my to-do list for getting it updated and fully working again.
If you think you suffer from alts... Well...
That's probably around 3/4 of all the terrain art I've got.
Great to see your Steampunk texture in the limelight.
You, good sir, are responsible for many hours being happily wasted.
Do you have any steampunk recommendations?
I have been suggesting The Mysterious Geographical Explorations of Jasper Morello for a while - I suspect that you wil already have seen it, but if not: About half an hour long.
Hi there Glimmar,
I've been an avid user of your texture pack for some time, and in the last few months have been working on a Steampunk themed RP server. When me and my little admin team began to move forward with our server, we made the choice to build it based on a specific pack we would point all our players to. Yours was certianly the go-to one for the look we wanted in our world. However, not all textures worked for some of our needs (such as our server requiring actual beds, rather than cool glimmar-style beds)
When we first started I (the artist of the group) had taken a peek at your usage licence and seen;
"If you run a non-profit making server, ie. you do not charge members for joining your server (charging for use of Glimmar's Steampunk texture pack is strictly forbidden), you are free to use Glimmar's Steampunk with modifications, but please give clear credit and a link back to this thread at all times. I don't make a charge for this pack and it is strictly forbidden for anyone using this pack or parts of this pack to make a charge or ask for donations."
I'd really like to get some clarification before moving forward with any edits. The intention is for us to have a file uploaded of 'Glimmar's with Edits' on our own forums in the private members-only with a link back and proper credit given to you. You mentioned to ProjectRay that you are happy with your pack being edited and offered to friends on private servers, but I don't know if we (a server that will be taking applications and intending to grow) would be considered private by you. I want to be entierly sure what we are doing is all right by you before using your pack.
Great to see your Steampunk texture in the limelight.

The Auld Grump
This was the video they had on that old steampunk rpg server named Retro Future I think. correct me if i am wrong
Well I hope you get that harddrive fixed...and I missed you. You might have to sacrifice that Xbox to the gremlin gods as an offering of good will if you want the PC/Mac to stay happy.
I could never sacrifice my Xbox the those nasty gremlin gods, and also since my external harddrive is messed up and probably wont be fixed for a while I decided to get photoshop. I have no idea what I'm doing so it will be a while before I get back to making textures, I'm going to watch some tutorials and such to get started, and if anyone has any tips that would be great.
That mixer is fairly high on my to-do list for getting it updated and fully working again.
If you think you suffer from alts... Well...
That's probably around 3/4 of all the terrain art I've got.
Well that's excellent news about the mixer, I did like the downloadable version!
As regards the alts, I love seeing them laid out like that. It appeals to the collector in me. I'm sure that's also one of the appeals of Minecraft (certainly for me it is), that all these square textures are like so many badges or stamps. Hah! Seeing yours there in one big block made me wonder if anyone had made a Minecraft quilt cover. That'd be popular with the kids.
Great to see your Steampunk texture in the limelight.

And thanks to you kind sir (or madam!).
Yes, I first saw Jasper Morello over a year ago...amazing artwork and animation! I think Tiger4Ruler showed me it, but I just never got round to watching the whole thing, even though I still have a link on my desktop! I should relax a bit and just watch more stuff for inspiration.
Steampunk recommendations, eh? Well, League of S.T.E.A.M. http://leagueofsteam.com/ is well worth a look and I often look in on The Steampunk Empire http://www.thesteampunkempire.com/, but I can't recommend China Mievelle's work highly enough for some cultured high Steampunk reading, mostly I like his work for the descriptive quality of his inventions, places and creatures. He does cover some quite adult themes though, so not for too young an audience.
but yea I get ya, and the texture pack edit is still named after you, I dislike not giving credit where credit is due
Thanks, ProjectRay. Don't forget to link back here perhaps using my sig-link, so that anyone using my pack knows where the textures came from and can avail themselves of the original and it's history, if they so wish.
I would like to start making a proper list in my OP of servers on the theme of Steampunk...that also use my texture pack - both for the record, but also for the interest of other users, so a link to yours would be good for two way traffic.
Both download sites require giving too much information, so I will not be downloading. It is a shame too, it looked like a good texture pack.
Glad you like the look of it, cyberife.
Can I ask what info RapidShare requires? Just for the record, whenever I've tested it when not logged in, I simply click on the download button on the RapidShare website and it starts downloading without any need to input any personal info. I would like someone to tell me what exactly happens for them?
Besides MediaFire, is there any other file-sharing site you are ok with?

hi Falkala.
Just by your coming here and asking about proper usage proves to me you are an honourable person, so I have no qualms you will act properly with my work, with clear credit and a link back to my thread (perhaps using my sig-link as suggested to ProjectRay above).
Also please don't allow others to use your edited version for further distribution. I've no doubt someone will ask if they can use the edited version of my pack for making their own texture pack, which might then be offered on some other texture pack site. Any further use of my work still needs my permission and proper credit. When all is said and done, I have never asked for donations or used adfly. My only reward is simple recognition of the original work I've put into the pack over nearly two years. It's not a lot to ask.
Lol! I well understand the need to change some of the oddities in my pack to suit different purposes, so don't worry about me breathing down your neck, go ahead and edit things for your groups server. My concern, as mentioned previously, is over the uncredited use of my work that did happen frequently in the past, but I think the forums have matured to the point where most people understand you just don't use someone else's artwork without permission, clear credit and a link to the original.
As I've asked of ProjectRay, would you provide me with a link back to your forums, perhaps with your own sig. and I will build up a section in my OP related to Steampunk servers, so that others here can see the range of activities taking place with my texture pack, many thanks.
Best wishes for the success of your worlds and once again thank you for asking.

and finally what program do you use Glimmar
Thanks, -Green
Lol! Poor Xbox, I can see you love it a lot.
I have Photoshop too, which I mostly use for my photographic work. However, I still much prefer Gimp for actual texture editing, because it's what I began using when I first started tinkering with Minecraft. As I still very much work with real art materials in the 'real' world I prefer Gimp's simpler interface over Photoshop's and for some reason my pen and tablet seem to like Gimp better too!!
Arcane technology is no match for my "something big and scary lol"!
Hah! I shall have to make the shed even bigger then and employ the services of 5 Iron Golems. You know, I think a family of Iron Golems live down my road.

Deal :P, but I'd rather not put my link up yet, for a couple of reasons (mostly, it's a private server until release(We're in alpha!)) But, I'll link to yours,
for the list just put Immaterial for now I guesses

for some reason the rapid share links arent working for me it says file unavailable
I shall test it now. My problems just get worse! It seems I am being conspired against by all file-sharing websites!
[edit] It's still working for me and I'm not logged into Rapidshare. Did you click on the green 'DOWNLOAD' button in the centre with the bouncy green arrow above it? Also which version were you trying to download...32x or 64x...not that it matters, I've tried them both and both files are still there and downloading fine for me.
With all these problems with download sites, I'm beginning to wonder if it might just be easier to ask someone NOT on the TalkTalk service to host your files over MediaFire, at least temporarily. It may be a bit awkward and I know you don't like others posting your stuff willy-nilly, but as a temporary stopgap measure, it might work. Just need to make sure they can get it up in a timely manner (maybe release the link through an alternate site a day or so earlier so they don't get cut off by any bandwidth limit). Just a thought…

You have my highest thanks, Glimmar! You can find our project at steamstone.net. The forums have been dead for awhile as our team had to take a several month hiatus halfway into development (school, work, etc! ) but the'll get moving soon enough now that I am back on break. The edits are currently hidden behind a member-only section so feel free to sign up and I'll make sure to approve your account to see our development.
There is a Mod Compilation pack on the first post, not too far below the main download, in a spoiler marked as "Mods". I am currently working with a number of other volunteers to make some textures, and I believe we have most of BuildCraft and about a quarter of IndustrialCraft done so far, as well as various others (such as RailCraft, Weapons Mod, Clay Soldiers (might not be in the current download), and several others). Feel free to give it a try.

I was thinking along the same lines.
My ISP continues to hedge and deny there is a problem...suggesting helpfully(?!) to clear my browser or try a different one, something I did almost straight away weeks ago. Only one site and one site alone is inaccessible from 'any' of our PCs or laptops...MediaFire! If I try typing in MediaFire's IP address I get the same brick wall response, but not with any other IP!? MediaFire's diagnostics show the same thing and it's easy to google search others using TalkTalk or their nodes having the same difficulty with accessing MediaFire. All of which I've reported to TalkTalk. MediaFire are getting the same helpfull (rather...helpless) response from TalkTalk too!
Any chance you could upload the current pack and send me links, sheep? Don't worry if you can't, but it would certainly tide me over until this gets sorted. Funny, I never realized before just how standard MediaFire has become around here.

No probs.
If and when you get a banner together let me have it and I will put that with the link when I get the section set up in my OP.
Why don't your spoilers work? May be a lag for me, but there's a slight chance of that.
Hah! I think paranoia is setting in around here!
As far as I can see, thankfully, there isn't a problem with any of the spoilers for me. It probably is lag as despite putting 99% of all pics inside spoilers, there's still a few big images to load up. Keep me posted though.
Just downloaded your textures and they have really added character to my world. It seems more "alive" some how.
Thanks for the great work.
My pleasure (when I'm not dealing with file-sharing sites or ISP's!). Glad you like the pack, mate.
Sometimes, existing worlds don't translate well for some folk due to the extreme difference between some of my textures and the usual fantasy medieval packs out there. Have fun.
i havent been on this thred for a while,i was busy dieing in super hostile maps(super hostile maps=super evil survival maps where you have to collect wool for a monument),
pack is looking nice as always.
MCpatcher had an update, now you can have connected textures for every block,
for eksample, misa made it so the new stonebrick work as a pillar,
could you try to make something for connected textures?
