If the Gold armor is a diving suit and Pumpkins are Diving helmets, what would the gold helmet be then? Just another style of helmet(ala Bioshock Big Daddy's in some way?)
Hm.. goggles. It'd fit the suit, but could also be used just for regular steampunk goggles!

I'm going to run out of diamonds, if you come out with any more brilliant ideas! Where's my notebook when I need it!! Goggles it's going to be then...unless someone comes up with something better (I'm very easily swayed. Lol). Here, more diamonds:
How does this work with Mr Messiah's Occlusion Mod, Hoodwink?
Just fine, I also have that installed.
Looking at your pics made me think you had!
That's really awesome then!! :biggrin.gif:
I've just managed to get the 'Occlusion mod' to work for the first time tonight and my jaw dropped - like the first time I played Minecraft, and the first time I moved from 16x16 textures to Doku's 32x32 RPG pack. It makes such an amazing difference to the lighting of the textures! I can see I'm not going to get much work done on my Nether world glowstone/lantern tonght! Sorry folks!
How would I go about editing the textures of cloths or whatever. I don't see them in the terrain.png, are they in a different one? I would rather just edit those alternate iron gold and diamond textures into those so I can use them all at once. I need everything for a city I'm making :l
Colored cloth was removed from the game when Alpha came out (perhaps earlier...before my time). Sucks, I know.
Just use the Paint Block mod - you can change the colour of most standard blocks with it (Cobblestone, Wool, Brick, etc.) using the handy ingame Paintbrush that comes with the mod. I hasten to add that I just slapped some colour on raw Stone to show the principle...
Oh, yeah, I know there are mods that will do it. I meant that more in the sense of, "You won't find anything in the terrain.png file, since colored cloth has been removed."
Though, come to think of it, I'm thinking the game just used a color overlay on white cloth, so there wouldn't be anything to find regardless of game version (other than the existing cloth texture).

If I recall colored cloth was taken out because each was a separate item id, and he wanted to use the paint your blocks system instead.
Love the mod totally thus-far. Also, love the current slow-sand texture. Looks far more amazing, not to mention sort of alien, than that of the creeperface texture. As for metal plates replacing the netherstone, I'd like to see how the Nether would look with them D: I have a feeling it'll be a lot less interesting to the red cobblestone... albeit, that is far from interesting to look at too. Hopefully Notch adds more materials to the Nether. A LOT more...
Here's a few examples of the netherstone/iron-plate and slow sand/mud in their natural Nether setting as requested.
A kind of rusty cove with seaweed.
Molten iron pours endlessly from above in the biggest steel mill in all of Minecraft!
Still got the glowstone/lantern to show you yet!
Sleep first and dreams of Ambient Occlusion. :smile.gif:
Quick replies:
@ varo123: I'll second that!
@ Elvenmaster: Thank you. :smile.gif: Hope it doesn't disappoint. Pics can be deceptive. After my experience with the 'Ambient Occlusion' mod tonight, I would certainly encourage you to try it out...though some have found it difficult to install, it is well worth it!
@Glimmar: Ambient Occlusion is insane. When I first saw screenshots, I was sorta like "eh"...but then when the new patch came out, I was reinstalling mods anyway and decided I might as well give it a go.

WOW. Could not play without it.
PS - Your sand + Ambient Occlusion = Joy!
That was kind of how I fell into using it. The pic of my sand that was posted above prompted me to have a go and at first it didn't work, but I wasn't sure. Kind of thought, well this isn't all it's cracked up to be. I tried again with MrMessiah's patcher and like you, WOW! The difference is out of this world! :ohmy.gif:
Thanks to you and others for the kind comments. :smile.gif:
hey Glimmar, have you ever seen the Movie "City Of Ember" ?
I like that kind of Steampunk :smile.gif: The movie is great, one of my favorites, but it's the design I like the most :biggrin.gif:
a unique Steampunk/modern Style :biggrin.gif:
do you think you would be able to make something like that?
Of course I'm talking about after you finished this one
Ambient Occlusion is my #1 choice for mod I'd most like to see incorporated into the main game. It allows for much smoother textures on the tops of blocks without having to worry that they will become one solid mass of color in sunlight.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
That steel picture is beautiful with Ambient Occlusion.
I like the idea of a giant steel mill.
Yes, "Dark Satanic Mills" kind of thing. It just looks right with this texture theme.
The industrial revolution really must have been picturesque hell on earth kind of scenario to inspire that phrase. I find it interesting that we have this imaginary reinvention of that technological era with steam punk, where everything's brass and shiny. So it's cool to see this pack use the Nether to show the gritty underbelly of this Victorian industrial revolution era inspired fiction. Way cool.

you've done an amazing job ;D
I haven't, I'm afraid. :sad.gif: I'm familiar with the book and I'm curious now as to how it was represented in the movie. I remember seeing the trailers but never got to actually see it. I'll Google it tonight and see if there's any useful inspiration. Thanks. :biggrin.gif:
Just can't decide yet on the best design for the Nether 'glowstone' lanterns, so here are a few examples (from many I've been trying) set in various locations:
First off - in their natural Nether environment. Every vast interior space needs epic sized chandeliers:
Art Deco:
Makintosh:
Tiffany:
The above pics can be zoomed in for better detail.
Now reformed on the surface world as street lamps (credit for this idea goes to 'Necramar' pg. 25):
Art Deco:
Makintosh:
Tiffany:
In a window setting as stained glass:
Art Deco:
Makintosh:
Tiffany:
...and finally, ceiling lights:
Art Deco:
Makintosh:
Tiffany:
The above are just a few examples of what you could use the glowstone 'lantern' block for. Designs are limitless and I'm sure you will be able to think of many more uses in your builds! They all still need some refinement, but I thought I'd give you a quick look before I release the 1.4 version of my pack with the latest updates - hopefully this weekend.
I'm interested to know which you like best...my favourite so far is the 'Tiffany'. I will include the other designs on the terrain sheet as usual, so those amongst you who are brave, can pic and choose. If I come out with any more designs, I'll put them on the terrain.png sheet or upload pics.
Thanks for your patience - those of you who are still interested. :smile.gif:

Definitely gives the Nether an industrial feel of sorts. Like there's naturally occuring vats of lava or something D:
