I got back to Ksheep about the Aether mod retexture I did ages ago. Not even sure if it is compatible with the current version of the Aether (not that the Aether mod is up to date either) but go ahead and toss it in with the extras.
I've been thinking redoing it if the Aether mod ever gets updated, but will probably go a different direction with it instead of the more acurate to the original retexture that I did. Mostly, I'm wanting to mess arround with more of Glimmar's extra textures to give me a wider variety of build materials.
Almost finished with the turtle, the problem with it was that its not shaped like a regular block its slightly smaller, but no worry Its working out smoothly, the only problem Ill have with computer craft or any other mod is the GUI so after I finish the turtle if you'd like you could do them ksheep or we could leave them how they are.
Also I'm going to work on equivalent exchange next So get ready for some steampunky alchemy chests next
Hey Glimmar! I really like the Iron Golem, i think it is amazing. And I think you should work on the Villagers, now that they are not mindless morons that simply amble around.
P.S. Have you seen my airship? I posted a few pictures some posts back, i dont know if you have seen them or not! Please tell me what i should add to it, or remove!
Yes, I apologise...I did see your airship and mighty fine it was too.
If I was you, don't change that airship, just keep building other variations in the same world based on what you've learned from that one. Continue to add other constructions like hangers, towers, stations and so on until you've got the makings of a city. Take inspiration off Google pics of steampunk or Victorian industrial photographs and very soon you'll have something pretty epic.
Got a list a couple pages back with a preliminary version of the compilation, but I've added a couple new things since then.
Currently in the pack: RedPower2 Lighting: Textures by Glimmar, edited by Ksheep. WeaponMod: Textures by Tlos, edited by Ksheep. IndustrialCraft2: o1ofco2, d95, CuZnDragon, Glimmar, compiled by Ksheep. BuildCraft: Textures by Glimmar, edited by Ksheep. Railcraft: Textures by Glimmar, edited by Ksheep. Zeppelin: Dazqo and nerdboy64.
I'll probably add Mordus' retexture for the Missing Blocks mod if he doesn't mind, and if I can get the Æther mod stuff, that would be good as well. Problem is that the previous upload for the Æther mod is no longer available (not to mention that it doesn't look like the mod has been updated lately).
EDIT: Also, while looking through the Extras download, I noticed that you have some mod textures in there. Should I include these in the compilation pack, with correct formatting and whatnot?
Considering I asked you to do that ksheep, it was pretty rude of me not to have seen that list. I know you say you might be away for the next few days, so I will try to get that list up in the OP very soon.
Yes, anything you find in the Extras download, please feel free to include or use as the basis of an update for whichever mod it was made for. Anything that isn't complete you could highlight as such and someone might be inspired to take up responsibility for it.
However, what you've assembled so far is mighty impressive in such a short space of time and I can already see a lot of interest, so you have my grateful thanks for the effort you've put in and for being willing to oversee the mod side of things.
All this interest prompted me to have a look at the Redpower mod (well the videos of it!) and I can understand why it's so popular and why it would work so well with the industrial aspect of steampunk. And that's just one mod amongst many!
I did this, several times in fact. It loaded fine on my laptop, which I downloaded, in my excitement over your texture pack, only an hour after I downloaded it on my desktop. I can unpack the file and see if the texture is there at all and get back to you.
PS thank you for responding, I was doubtful I would find help.
A little while later...
I unpacked it and found both the snow texture file and the "mojang" load file. I un-patched and re-patched and it still wouldn't load the textures. I re-downloaded the texture pack and the missing snow texture is as annoying as always.
I am at a loss as to what needs to be fixed, please help.
I don't know what to say. What mods do you have installed, if any?
The only other thing I can think of is tell Minecraft to force-update to get a fresh mincraft.jar file, then redownload the texture pack and patcher, patch it up fresh and put in the texture pack. It's a bit extreme, but it might do the trick.
I have to agree with ksheep's suggestion here. It is an odd problem, but I do recall someone else having the same difficulty with snow in another pack, but I can't remember the outcome now.
I can't remember if ksheep asked if you use Optifine? Have you tried deleting my 'snow.png' file from my texture pack? Can you see the default snow that comes with Minecraft? Does my rain show up ok? Am I right in thinking you also don't get to see the 'mojang' screen?
It's very odd it's just those two graphics causing the problem. I take it you've tried running the game with a fresh download of my pack, unopened (meaning you haven't opened up the snow and mojang .png files, or looked at them in a graphics program like 'paint')? Have you patched with the latest version of MC Patcher (v2.3.4_01)?
I hope we can get to the bottom of this problem for you. As far as I'm aware you're the only who's reported this, but if we get to the bottom of it, we all learn a little more about the game's foibles.
Thank-you for putting up the alternate links. It only took a few seconds to register on the old link, but most people prefer to just download it. I have a suggestion to make as well. Perhaps you should make a 128x version for those who want even more HD in their texture packs.
Well MediaFire got back to me and seem to be taking my problem seriously. So hopefully I might be back on MediaFire again soon.
As regards a 128x version of the pack. I do have a 128x water animation texture, but that's about all. I'm afraid the work involved in going up to 128 would just be too great for me at this present time and as regards epic builds viewed from a distance, it would probably be a retro step. Personally, I've always found 32x just about right for building large constructions and 64x is about the limit for close up detail. As one goes to higher resolutions (for me) it highlights the sharp edges of blocks...rather than the illusion of roundedness that 32x can give...and also adds a lot more 'moire' (those annoying little flickery pixel patterns) in the medium to distant landscape.
If you're used to 128x and comfortable with it's effects, then you may not be as aware of the differences, but in turn will be more aware of how clunky 16 and 32x textures are when close up.
It doesn't mean I'm not curious to see what some of my textures might look like at higher resolutions. And just to complicate things, I prefer higher res guis and mobs (as you may have noticed) simply because we are more likely to view those things close up. In the end for me the bottom line is time. Only having a little of it each day and having a pack that's nowhere near complete, means I have to prioritise. So I keep on top of updating the 32x terrain and steadily work on the 64x mobs, guis, etc.
Ksheep! it looks like you are working on a texture pack for the Tekkit Mod collection... If so you freaking rock! I love playing on my Tekkit Server but I miss the glimmer texture pack. If I can help test or anything let me know... I don't have any artistic ability but I would love to have the Glimmer Pack with all these fantastic mods!
ksheep is doing a marvellous job in bringing together both his own and all the other sterling efforts users are putting into their favourite mods to make them compatible with my pack. I'm as excited as you at the prospects.
Basing my work off of what mods are in Technic, but there is a lot of overlap between those two. If you'd like to test them out, look back a couple pages and you'll find a preliminary upload of various textures, complete with instructions on how to add them to the texture pack. Feel free to try it out, see if it's working, and let me know if I need to clear up the instructions at all.
Also, as a side note, I'm not alone in this retexturing. There are two or three others working on this problem as well, each of us tackling a couple mods. Glim just asked if I could be in charge of compiling everything.
I was hoping to get an updated version out today, but it looks like that won't happen. Unfortunately, I've got a trip tomorrow and I won't have reliable internet until Sunday. Hopefully I'll get something together then.
As folk often tell me around here...real life always comes first.
As you say, sheep, if folk can give feedback on the mods or offer help in certain areas under you guiding hand we should soon have an even more exciting list of compatible mods.
I got back to Ksheep about the Aether mod retexture I did ages ago. Not even sure if it is compatible with the current version of the Aether (not that the Aether mod is up to date either) but go ahead and toss it in with the extras.

Greetings, torturran.
I actually had a copy of the work you did for the Aether mod somewhere in an updated 'extras' download I'd been working on a while back. If you hadn't popped in I was going to offer it to ksheep to add to his compilation work. It's to my shame I never got round to doing anything with it, but I'm excited for it's prospects now when the mod gets updated.

Sounds good. Can't wait to see the completed set. I'll be sure to add it to the pack as soon as I get back from this trip.
Also, Mordus (he who made the retextures for the Missing Blocks mod) had said he might look into doing Equivalent Exchange as well. You may want to get in contact with him so that you can coordinate your efforts.

Thanks and as I promised I finished the turtle
Mining Turtle
Wireless Turtle
Here are the other pics for the people who hasnt seen them all
Computer, Disk drive, and wireless router

Here is the zip(it has the blink, terrain and turtle) [Link]
Ill contact mordus about Equivalent, but ill start working on it anyway
Alright, here's an updated version of the compilation pack. I've added the ComputerCraft, Æther, NetherOre, and Planes textures, as well as the items for Buildcraft and IndustrialCraft2. There are also a number of tweaks I've made, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. However, I'm in a bit of a rush here (leaving in less than half an hour), so this'll have to do. If you notice anything not working right, give me a holler and I'll try to fix it once I get back.

Exuse me glimmar, may I use your texturepack for My adventuremap, if I give you full credit for textures?
First of all, many thanks for asking for permission first. However, as stated in my licence, I don't allow my pack, in part or whole, to be distributed from any other point than my thread. It is now strictly for personal use only.
I certainly don't mind you linking to my thread for users to download from there. And of course you are free to upload pics and vids of your adventure world using my texture pack, so long as you give credit and a link back to my thread. You're just not allowed to redistribute my texture pack or a modified version from within your thread.
If I like the look of the map, I could feature it in my thread too and link back to yours!
Best wishes for the success of your adventure map though.
In the somewhat near future, I will be releasing an adventure map made to use this texture pack. I should have a thread started with pics soon. Can't wait to see what 1.2.4 brings to this pack! (even though it's only ~5 new textures XD)

Ooo! I look forward to seeing some pics too, NoSympathy97.
I just wiki'd the new planks and there's a different plank for each log type. That should be helpful for all those who don't dig my dark mahogany plank. That should give some awesome choice for interior design, but a heck of a problem for me to choose how to represent each plank. I don't want to just do simple colour tone differences! Though I'll try and include such variations in my alts.
I don't want to update until MC Patcher is good to go. Am I right in thinking it's 2 new sandstone blocks and 3 new planks?
NOOOOOO!!!!! MINECRAFT UPDATED AGAIN!!!! Now all the mods have to update! How aggravating
My sentiments entirely. I love new building blocks to play with, but having only just updated, it's a pain not to have much of a break for some building fun, but very frustrating for all the modders and users to find their stuff broken again.
I shall update as soon as I've got something, but it might not be quick, if someone would like to upload a 'terrain.png' sheet with their favourite planks and sandstone blocks from my alts in, to help those not so familiar with cutting and pasting, it will allow me time to concentrate on the official update more efficiently.
I guess I won't be starting on the village people quite so soon now.
On the upside, newly constructed wooden planks now differ in appearance based on the wood they came from. More basic blocks is good news to me.
Haha! Nicely ninja'd. We both thought along the same lines about the planks.
Although it means more work for me, they are actually 5 very useful block additions.
I'm away in the mountains this weekend, so I doubt I'll be able to get anything uploaded before I go, but some cold mountain air might inspire some clear thought on what to do.

I click on the Download links and it takes me to these websites that say i need to sign in up to download, whats the deal?
Read posts above. I'm having problems with mediafire and my ISP (my ISP is currently blocking use of MediaFire).
There are RapidFire download links just one line directly underneath...try those...no need to sign up. Also, although you now have to sign up for 4Share, it's nothing to be suspicious about, being the largest file-sharing site on the internet. However, I understand your reaction to having to sign up...I'm exactly the same and it is only a temporary alternative solution.
Edit: Just updated the download order and added a dropbox download option too.

Curse PremiumI saw Pipehead's request for new Villagers. I think I'm leaning towards making the villagers my next project and have already started on some possible heads. Even with new 'human' villagers I think I'd still like to keep some 'automaton' variety too, even if it's just to add to the variety of scenarios it would throw up, eg. humans appearing to be instructing slave mechanoids, etc. Also, I'm thinking humans might also be various combinations of bio and mechanical components, somewhat like 'The Remade' a fictional group of bio-engineered people in the novels and stories by China Miéville set in his world of Bas-Lag.
