I don't know if you've seen my suggestions yet Glimmar, but here they are again.
1. Switch the obsidian and bedrock textures. At least you don't see bedrock so much and the obsidian ends up awesome.
2. Use the particle texture used for the bookcases around enchant tables as the exp orb particles. They will look awesome, trust me. Imagine killing an evil construct and cogs and stuff scattering everywhere for you to pick up.
As for the bookcase particles, maybe blueprints and files since they're coming out of filing cabinets.
I also can't wait to see what you do with the gold and diamond armour.
Maybe something decorative for the gold since that's really it's only use.
Lol! Yes I did see your post and you must have missed my reply in the great posting catch-up I did above...promise...it is there. :smile.gif:
1. I know what you mean about the bedrock, I am pleased with that texture, unfortunately working in creative and using the 'TooManyItems' mod as I do, I use it quite extensively in my own world for the bottom of river beds, etc., So I need to think about that one, but I do intend working on a new obsidian...promise.
2. I also thought your idea about the fragments of blueprint, etc was a good one, but I'd have to test the cog/component particles out in the experience orb position. Unless you've tried it yourself, I'm not sure those particles would work quite so well in the orb positions. There's a smaller number of xporb slots compared with the enchantment particles, and without seeing for myself, I don't quite know how things would work in terms of the different sized orbs representing large and small amounts of experience. But yes, I agree for this theme it would look cool to see cogs and machine parts fall to the ground from machine mobs, though a little confusing when they fall out of a pig or sheep. :biggrin.gif:
Both areas will have to wait though, as I'm afraid I need to concentrate on those things needed for the Minecraft 1.2 update. I won't forget to experiment though. :smile.gif:
I think I may have hit upon a nice mysterious obsidian texture! :ohmy.gif:
However, I've still to get the jungle tree log to my liking. It was frustration in the lumber department that drove me to bang my head against the nearest obsidian obelisk. Inspiration hits you in strange ways, often in quite painful ways too! :biggrin.gif:
I did, however, find out that single-player does work with it but it has to create the world then crash but once the world is created it will work in that world. That's all i found out as of this moment.
I'll do what i can to figure what the problem is. If i can't... well, I can always wait. :tongue.gif:
Can't wait for 1.2 to get out, but probably won't try out the weekly snapshots as I've got a number of mods which probably won't be updated until after 1.2 gets out. In the meantime, here's a view of my latest addition, a factory (or steel foundry, or… something).
You know, it doesn't look all that different from the robot guardians from Castle in the Sky, complete with vegetation growing over it and it offering a flower to random passerby's.

That is exactly what i thought and the fact that villagers give them flowers too.
I wonder if Jeb based the golems of the ones in Castle in the Sky?

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My Website. I make mods for Minecraft and am also making my own game.
You need an imagehost website like 'ImageShack' which is free to use. Save your pic as either .jpg format if it's just a pic of your world or .png format if you're wanting to upload something like a texture edit. Upload it to the imagehost website of your choice and said website host will issue you with a unique 'url' address for each image you upload. Copy and paste each image address into your post here and enclose it with 'img' commands.
Have a look at a few posts here that contain pics by clicking on their 'reply' button and see how those pics have been formatted for upload. :smile.gif:
Hey glimmar, would a city that is mainly Airship cargo and Airport also have a port for ships??
I would say almost anything goes in a steampunk city. All the books I've read on the theme of steampunk have seaports, even if airship and other more sophisticated forms of transport exist. Same as in real life too. We've put men on the moon and satelites round the farthest planets in our solar system, but we still use the sea to transport most things round our world. :smile.gif:
Thank you :DI did, however, find out that single-player does work with it but it has to create the world then crash but once the world is created it will work in that world. That's all i found out as of this moment. I'll do what i can to figure what the problem is. If i can't... well, I can always wait. :tongue.gif:
You didn't confirm if you use Optifine, but I'm guessing it's some combination of things at your end that may be causing the problem. Keep us informed and I'm still hoping to upload an update this weekend, despite the latest Minecraft snapshot and 'iron golem'! I guess no rest for the wicked this weekend, but you might find it solves your problem, provided you make sure not to use Optifine until it's updated for 1.2, but update to the latest MC Patcher if you want to use the latest snapshot.
I'm just off to test it now in the hope that there isn't anything other than the Iron Golem. :smile.gif:

The Factory Building.Crucibles, walkways, and other misc. items.Pouring molten metal into holding tanks.A view of the compound.A bird's eye view.
I was trying to hold to the same myself, but as it seems to be the best way for texture pack artists to slowly update their material in time for the finished update it would be silly of me not use what spare time I've got to keep up (well...trail behind in my case!).
Awesome pics, mate. I love the idea of a foundry-like building. I'll have to see about doing something similar in my world. :smile.gif:
Here's the skeleton its like a first version of a droid. Tell me what should be changed and Glimmar I'm not sure how to give it to you.
It looks great as is, _Greenleaf_. You can always add and chop and change stuff later, but if you want to see it in the next update...which might be this weekend, if I can spare some time...then you'll need to upload soon. To do that, have a look at my first reply above in this post. Follow that explanation but ensure you save and upload in .png format and include the image 'url' in a post to this thread.
I'll then just copy and paste directly from your post. :smile.gif:
New village defence mob!I'm thinking "steam-powered automaton"!
Haha, yet another minecraft texture kind of made for this theme, but that puts me under a lot of pressure to make something worthy.
Any suggestions or inspirational pics would be welcome. I've a lot of images on my harddrive already, but slapping me about the head with a few more here might dislodge a few cobwebs in my copper domed brain pan! :biggrin.gif:
I was thinking about holding off my update I had planned for this weekend, but I don't want to rush things and I probably need to get something up soon for anyone champing at the bit to try out the awesome 1.2 snapshot...mmmmm tall buildings (think Homer Simpson and a giant donut!).
Miyazaki FTW!On topic: Can't wait to see what Glimmar does with these.
Hi mate, you've a lot more faith in me than I have. :biggrin.gif:
The ocelot and cats only took me nearly a week to do and when you see 'em you'll probably say, "Mmm...can't see a week in there!"
How the heck am I going to do justice to a steampunk dragon!! :blink.gif:
*********
Anyways, I will do my best to upload something this weekend. A lot of new stuff and a lot of changes to old stuff too:
New foliage which I've switched around with my old version, tall grass, obsidian, bedrock, saplings, redstone lantern, jungle log, iron railing, ocelot, cats and tweaked lots of other things like grass top, grass sides, snow, etc plus a few more alts and biome color files for water, fog, sky, grass, pine, etc. Some other things might find their way in there, but it depends if I get any more free time between now and when I upload.
...just off to see what's what with the latest snapshot. :smile.gif:

somethig like a partly robotic sloth?(how do i get so stupid ideas?)EDIT: can you post a previw pic off the 1.2 stuff
A kind of flying giant tree sloth. Haha. :biggrin.gif:
Would you believe that prehistoric giant has always been one of my favourite creatures, ever since seeing it's bones at the Natural History museum in London. :smile.gif:
I'll see what I can do re: pics of the 1.2 stuff, though it may be just as quick to post the update along with the pics.

Well I made a new obsidian texture, then remembered your suggestion and tried swapping it with the bedrock and indeed you were right, the bedrock looks perfect, it has those granite like flecks one gets with certain types of polished obsidian and the new texture I made works well as a mysterious bedrock. Thanks, Deepblue.
