Glad to see this thread is getting active again. I thought it was going to die down for a while there! I couldn't bear to see such a great texture pack die. :sad.gif:
Haha! It has it's quiet moments. :biggrin.gif:
Thanks, Dirtcopter777. It might get quiet from time to time, but it doesn't bother me too much. I'm totally captivated by Minecraft and it's possibilities and very much lost in my own world of Newglim. The inspiration from that alone sustains the ideas to keep making new textures and skins...even if they're only for myself. Present circumstances means the creative process is a little slow to say the least, especially at this time of year.
However, I'm crazy enough to keep uploading anything I make for myself, so if anyone still likes the theme, you'll probably still find new things from me years hence.
I'm always glad of the encouragement though...aren't we all! :biggrin.gif:
Anyways...here's the next little update I've been promising with my Christmas present to you all:
Glimmar's Steampunk v3.4 for Minecraft v1.0 Changelog:
Checkout my other changelogs if you are new to the pack or haven't visited for some time. However, since my last update, please note the following changes:
4 new Steampunk Christmas Snowmaker Machines, ala snowman...a season's gift of goodwill to you all from me. Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Ho Ho Ho.
3 new zombie Random Mob edits from PATR101...zombie5*, 6* and 7*
* mostly or partially derived from my textures.
Fixed the robot villager edit supplied by PATR101 two updates ago.
Until I get round to working in this area, all villagers are now robot slaves waiting for their masters to return! Thanks to PATR101.
As much as I like Spongebob and Squidward in particular, I'm glad to get rid of those droopy noses and much prefer the robot slave idea for this theme! I'm looking forward to making some interesting automatons in the near future.
Included a HD lava, water, fire and portal version download of the pack for those with high-end machines.
I will do my best to update the 'extras' download in the near future and include all those wonderful edits you've been uploading over the past few months.
My OP has been updated with the latest version of the pack.
Happy Christmas to you all. Ho ho ho! [tootles off to feed the reindeer]
Ok, first off, after playing for a while with the new update, I just have to say, I love the all the new MCpatcher features. All of your animations are incredible, and random mobs are really fun. Now, HOLY CRAP BALLS. I came out of my mine a bit late and out of NOWHERE a headless creeper popped out. The most terrified I've been in Minecraft in at least 6 months.

Haha! I know what you mean about the headless creeper...and I only play on creative. :biggrin.gif:
I didn't realize how good this texture pack was until I actually tried it. Good work, keep it up. :smile.gif:
Thanks guys, I appreciate that. :smile.gif:
I think being around for so long can sometimes work against this texture pack. It's constantly evolving and growing, so it's always worth a return visit.
I'm getting good feedback and appreciating the observations from everyone. Many thanks, Gazoinks, there's definately lots to get right here in the relationship between those prime building blocks and my pics are probably not the best, but hopefully I'll get there. Just nice to see there is an interest in a Steampunk theme. :biggrin.gif:
[/You deserve all the good feedback here take someb ]
Thanks for those sparklies and welcome to the forum, DiamondNoob99. :smile.gif:
I shall add it to the list of ideas...thanks, mate. :smile.gif:
I hope everyone appreciates the fact that the diamond and gold armors are just placeholders copied from the iron armour, with distinct color and powered backpacks. So they will be worked on again some day, but I work where the inspiration and ideas take me.
Today I have mostly been messing with kahr's latest MC Patcher offering with respect to custom colours, with a little success and a little frustration. It still seems very difficult to get those wonderfully smooth transitions in grass, foliage and water we once had access to pre Minecraft beta 1.9. It was fun though and I'm very grateful to kahr for all the work he puts in to making Minecraft accessable to those of us who prefer something a little more than vanilla Minecraft.
Then I ran into a problem requiring me to redownload a fresh Minecraft and found that the servers seem to be down...at least for me, just my luck! Neither did I keep a back up copy of my Minecraft jar. Gah! Don't follow my example...be safe and keep a back up of the latest jar. :sad.gif:
As soon as I have something worthy of an update, and the spare time that goes along with it, I will let you have it.
I absolutely LOVE this texture pack. It is by far my favorite, as it has new textures for every object and mob (unlike some of the bigger texture packs), is not so foreign that I cannot play regularly (i.e. constantly checking tooltips to see what block I'm holding), and looks just plain AWESOME. Thank you so much! Just one question: Are you planning to re-skin mooshrooms?

What? I need a signature? Uh, um, SPLUNGE! If you got that reference, you win.

Thanks to you too, Veon_Elena...very generous of you. :smile.gif:
As regards mushrooms, to be honest...no not really. :smile.gif: If it's the small mushrooms, there are plenty of alts if you want something different (though it would require you cutting and pasting 'em in yourself) and the giant mushrooms I spent quite a bit of time on and was pleased with the end result. I had contemplated steampunkifying them, but decided it looked a little too contrived and came round to thinking the large and small mushrooms do work well together. Also I feel it's important not to try to convert everything to brass pipes and cogs. We still need the natural/supernatural to off set the retro-tech of steampunk, as much as I like gadgets.
I realize that's probably not what you meant when asking about mushrooms. Lol :smile.gif:
They said mooshrooms, not the mushrooms, everyone loves your mushrooms. The mooshrooms are the mushroom cows.
Lol! Thanks, mate. Still...gave me a good excuse for another soap-box episode! :biggrin.gif: I've had too many mince pies laced with sherry to read properly.
Yes... the mooshrooms will get the attention they deserve...sorry for the mix-up, Veon-Elena.
I had found this pack around 1.5, and it really liked it, but soon i forgot about it. Until recently I began to feel bored, and ran out of ideas of what to make, when I re-discovered this texture pack, and the fantasy world of steampunk. Me and my now 3x as awesome castles thank you.
That's a very nice update Glimmar, but still, no Enchanting & Brewing GUI's, even though I asked for them several days earlier.... I guess it's a common habit to ignore the newbies on forum, but please, at the next update, focus more on adding what's missing in the pack (GUI's, Ender Dragon, whatever else), rather than making alternate versions of what you already done... If I'm to Harsh, sorry for that, but I waited for you to respond a long time... :sad.gif:
Yeah, I have had that problem as well... Sorry dude...

What's up Minecraft Forum? I'm looking for mods to play currently.

As Glimmar has stated many times in the past, he has a lot on his plate, and many things yet to add/fix. Real life also often gets in the way (especially now, during the holidays). He cannot spend all his time working on this, and he usually uses Minecraft to escape the normal grind of everyday stuff. Therefore, he usually works on whatever takes his fancy, with little rime or reason behind what gets done when. If this means he works on fixing a poorly tiling brick or adding a skin (and three alternates) for an unskined mob instead of working on the GUI, then so be it. Also, many parts of the pack are still simply placeholders by other users, which Glimmar has planned on replacing in the future (keeping the placeholders in the "Extras" pack, and among those things that are place holders are several of the GUIs (I think, can't remember if he's replaced all of them yet with his own). So my suggestion is, instead of yelling at Glimmar for not doing exactly what you want, why not trying to make one yourself that fits the theme and posting it on this forum for others to enjoy while Glimmar works on finishing everything.
Also, many people have asked for support for various mods, and again Glimmar has said he hasn't the time to look into the mods, much less make textures for them. Several other members of the community have started work on making textures for these over the past year, and you are always free to do likewise.
I hope you understand, and that anyone else who decides to beg and plead for Glimmar to spend what little time he has on this project or that will read this and reconsider. Give words of support, not demands, as this is something that Glimmar does solely for fun, and he gets no money for his efforts (despite the occasional person begging to let them donate money to the cause). If you only deride him for not doing your will, you may drive him away from the project entirely, which none of us want.
Oh, and Glimmar, sorry for not posting for a while, been busy with family stuff myself. Really like the new snow golems! Really fit the atmosphere of the pack.
i found a mod called railcraft and ill try to make a few steam punk textures that i will share (if i glimmar allows me to. im using parts of his textures on this custom texture)
havent been here in awhile due to being busy with work and family stuff. (holidays are crazy) but while i was gone i got a much better rig and im now able to play this on max settings with the HD textures. (if you remember before you helped me figure out that i had to remove the HD water, lava and other stuff to get rid of the lag) now i cant wait to see how everything looks in HD!
i am looking to make my deserts red any of you know or can do a reddish sand and sandstone? I would be greatly appreciative
What sort of red? Are you looking for a pinkish red (like in Petra), a rust red, a sunset red, a brick red? Bright, dark, faded… lots of different reds to choose from…
