Just one question are you making a map with this texture pack that you are going to post later?
The top three pics in my OP come from my Newglim World which I've been working on since July of last year. To keep up with Notch's updates, it's moved from world to world using MCEdit, but still contains all the things I've built over the past year and a half.
It's still in a real state of transition until I get round to using an up-to-date MCEdit again. It is my secret hiding place where I experiment with new textures and generally just hide out relaxing. I don't feel it's ready to release to the world yet, but one day I might. :smile.gif:
Minecraft 1.0 is released, but its boring when it only has the features shown in the prerelease....
i hope there will be new uptates with cool content.
youre texturepack is amazing and im going to use it for a very long time.
I'm glad someone else is a little disappointed by the version 1.0 release. It's what comes with having had all the pre-releases to play with. I was rather expecting a more polished game for the big day at Minecon. Oh well! [sigh]
I must admit I'm a little underwhelmed by the end and the dragon too. For me Minecraft is all about the amazing building that folk have striven to create, both in the Nether and the infinitely generated landscape that made it famous.
I'd quite happily scrap the dragon and the end to get those beautiful transitions in the landscape again. The ugly swamp transitions and the hard-coded colour just depress me. How could the game have reached version 1.0 with such glaring problems still clearly in evidence! :blink.gif:
Hah! I cheated and played through the end on Creative and realized how many other things I failed to texture for this release...like a new block I didn't see on the terrain sheet. So I'm even less perfect than Mojang when it comes to completing stuff. What is that new block?
Glad you still like the pack, mate. :smile.gif:
Didn't get much chance for texturing today, but what time I had was frustrating work on the experience orb. Trying to get a happy mix of detail and pulsating glow is not easy. :angry.gif:
Oh well, things seem to be fairly quiet round here, so perhaps I can have a break from texturing for a while. Building on the surface is much more fun...if the swamps weren't so freakin' ugly!!! Gah!!!
Don't worry, as soon as I have something finished though, I'll upload with all the other things I missed. :smile.gif:
Hey, has anyone released a 'randomobs patch' for this pack? I know there are a ton(ne) of mob textures in the 'extras' download, but I haven't ever seen a precompiled 'randomobs' version of this pack. I'd throw one together if it hasn't been done and post it here, but if it's been done a link would be appreciated.

Nothing to my knowledge has been done yet, certainly not by yours truly, but it's something I intend working on next...when I've sorted out a few urgent things I missed in my last update.
As mentioned a few posts back, I've been looking forward to having steamdriven or alchemical robotic beasties galore wandering around my world of Newglim, especially as they don't attack as normal when playing on peaceful. I think they will add enormeous atmosphere to a grungy industrial world. However, I am largely speaking about the monsters rather than things like the cow, pig and sheep, I'm not as keen on making those mechanical, but given time I intend changing and adding variety to those too. :smile.gif:
By all means have a look at what's in the 'extras'. Though I think you'll find there's not as many as you think...but there aught to be.
Posting to get that diamond mark thing so I can notice this thread easier.
Glad to see there's almost full 1.0 support, in case you're wondering that new block texture is for the Dragon Egg texture (which I would rather have as model-type .png instead of a simple texture for more detailing). Also gravel, looks much better than the old one(noisy pixel bunch never looked good IMO).
But there is one problem, (I haven't really seen it in game yet, but) wouldn't the bottom part of the Ender Portal texture make the Ender (as it should've been named) look metalic and weird?
And then there's the suggestion: Torches are green-ish, fire particles are green-ish too, we have an acidic green lava alt as well... Could we have a green fire alt thrown in the mix?

For some reason, this reminded me of the Remade from The Scar.
You should add a mix of fabricated and robotic beasties!
That's exactly my intention. Read up on something by China Mieville and you'll see where I'm kind of getting my inspiration from. Dark, but incredibly imaginative, steampunk. :smile.gif:

Haha! So that's what that thing was on the top of that column! :biggrin.gif: Like I said I'm not really an 'end' adventure person, but I sacrificed myself to the darkness to see what I needed to texture and didn't have a clue it was a dragon egg I was lookin' at. Lol!
The 'end' text was very well written I thought.
I'm not really sure what you mean by, "model-type .png instead of a simple texture for more detailing" with regard to the dragon egg.
The end, 'metallic and weird'? Yup. Being 'metal' doesn't particularly bother me, especially with the endermen being all machinelike. But it's already been mentioned that it gives too much of a moire pattern, as it would with all that mesh detail, just like the gravel. I did so want a a grill/mesh texture to play with in my world though, but again, as mentioned above it's easy enough to make a range of alternates. :smile.gif:
Any ideas or pics anyone?
Green alt-fire? Absolutely! Been meaning to do it for a while. Things like that aren't too much effort, usually...it's more a case of actually remembering to do it, whilst trying to remember to do all the other stuff. :biggrin.gif:
For some reason, this reminded me of the Remade from The Scar.
Yay! Nearly my favourite book by Mieville. 'Perdido Street Station' is my personal favourite. I'm still halfway through reading 'The Iron Council'. But that's exactly what I'm gaining inspiration from, as mentioned in my thread subtitle. :smile.gif:
Sadly there isn't a lot of concept art around based on his incredible stories, characters or machines, but thanks to Google here are a few pics inspired by .Perdido Street Station' to set the scene:
I feel like I should make some contribution. It looks to me like the Nether portal block is some sort of charged circuitry. Makes sense, but I think it's kind of odd that this portal "panel" is intangible. I guess there could be some "scientific" reason for this effect, but whatever, just my opinion. There might be a more traditional portal block in the alternates, but I haven't really looked through those :smile.gif:.
Also, isn't it weird that cake is an edible machine? Maybe it could be something like hardtack, though I have no idea how you could pull that off with a texture.
Lastly, a question: is there an alternate, metallic chest?
I know that you've probably had this asked many many times but i was wondering if you could share the save to your map? its an amazing map and has all the right things to showcase your texture pack and i really wanted to show it to my friends! i know there's problems with people stealing maps and not giving the right props and youd be going out on a lim with this request.
i've tried to replace crossbow with pistol, found a pistol in your extra's, little recolored it, and here is what i did
for items.png http://i.imgur.com/3JVBa.png
arrows.png http://i.imgur.com/9unFt.png
with animation frames default placed it was looked like i'm firing RPG so i moved them lower
animated lamp (yellow light), made animation looks like there is unstable power there

will you have time to make BWM textures soon? Balkon said your pack was his favourite texture pack.
here, take this BMW texture instead of the BWM.
Edit: the creators of terraria is better with updates than notch because they show a few pictures and keep the rest SECRET intil they release it.(terraria 1.1 update is cooming 1 dec!!!)
Wow... It's been a while since I've seen my old work o_O Well, anyways, happy thanksgiving to any of you who partake! I apologize for not coming on as often as I'd like. I'm really liking the new work, as well, Glimmar.

now i'm working on another yours gun ) i like guns more than bows, but i'm not good at pixel art and will never be able to create a good looking gun by mysef, so big thanx for these textures and ability to use gun in minecraft :happy.gif:
Just wondering did the villagers not get reskinned or is something wrong with my game?
nope... In 3.2 there is only one texture and it was named wrong. villager.png must be in mob folder, and i don't see any use of it (( I use robo villager instead of librarian one. You need to rename villager.png to librarian.png (or butcher.png, farmer.png, priest.png, smith.png) and don't move it out of villager folder.

Just working on improving some things for another update soon...if I can find a window of opportunity in my otherwise frightening schedule.

"in the event of a root uprising i would support the robots, does that make me a bad person?"
