As an EARTH Division Toy Soldier and lover of all things Steam and Cog - I approve of this texture pack(and have done for quite some time).
I'm ducking and weaving between 1.8 and the pre-releases, as I have an industrialcraft² world I like to keep up to date. I'm slowly changing the textures to fit with the world - mainly by altering your fantastically versatile furnace to whatever machine takes my fancy.
Would you have any ideas on what the Nuclear reactor could become perchance? I've not gone anywhere near the nanotech age yet, but I'm thinking of going Extraordinary gentlemen super-solider with the armour...
In the meantime, distract yourself with this: . Not Steampunk deliberately, but it does cause a Gentleman's mind to speculate.
Addendum - I do believe I've fallen for the animated textures on the Crafting box!
Second addendum: I am once again lord of the page bottom, I fear.

May I ask you fine fellows what mods you use with your worlds, I have level up mod, rei's minimap, timber and SPC, I have also dabbled in tale of kingdoms, but I am starting to feel that the game is becoming a bit stale again, so I was looking for something fresh.
At the moment I am playing in a 1.9.5 server, but my fully modded 1.8 version has Yogbox (which gives me Equal Exchange, Mo Creatures, Millennaire, Rei's Minimap, Floating Ruins and some others), plus Great Wall, Ruins, Tale of Kingdoms, Scuba Diving, and Coral Reef, and at this point, I'm not willing to start a new world until I can have Mo Creatures and Coral Reef in it, and if I could figure out how to make Tropicsmod compatible with all that, I would be a very happy camper indeed. I was going to use the Forge as well, but I can't seem to get it loaded successfully.
I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of all the possibilities with all those mods, either. So much fun, so little time....
And, this texture pack is gorgeous. And now I need to redownload it so I can get that copper cauldron, as it's just what my house has been needing.
Is mix and matching from different texture packs allowable if you have no intention of distributing it? I'm getting the hang of using Gimp to tweak terrain.png and kz.png files, and I swear I spend more time improving the look of Minecraft that playing Minecraft.

I've been fiddling with the Technic pack, which has Industrialcraft2, Buildcraft, Redpower, Equivalent Exchange, Mo' Creatures, SDK's mods, Millenaire, Somnia, Zeppelin, and a bunch of others (depending on which version of the pack you get). I've barely scratched the surface of the things that can be done with it.
Heya Glimmar! I was wondering if there's any chance of you uploading your pack to MinecraftCustomizer.net, because the customizer you use isn't available for Macs. =/ If not, it's fine, I'll just do it by hand, I suppose. :smile.gif:

Secondly, many thanks for asking for permission first, unfortunately I've reluctantly, had to stop giving any more permissions for my textures to be used in other packs...see the licence in my OP.
This is because, many of those who I have loaned textures to in the past with the best of intensions, have abandoned their projects, and others have come along and re-used what they've collected, including my textures and assumed they were free to use! Very quickly the textures I've loaned have been spread over various texture packs without credit and it's been a real pain to track these down and point out they don't have permission to use and distribute my artwork.
I'm so sorry to have to reply in the negative and hope you understand. However, if your sandstone is based on mine, but not a direct copy, then it's yours and you're free to use of course, but changing a few pixels wouldn't be considered your own work, hence the reason behind my question at the beginning of this post. :smile.gif:
Best wishes for the success of your pack though...I'm assuming you're putting together your own pack to distribute here on the Minecraft Forums?
~Glimmar
Hey, sorry for the late response i wasnt able to get to the computer for a while. by translated (i couldn't think of a bettter term) i meant altering it from 32x to 16x. Yeah i understand why you won't, and i am plannign on posting it on Minecraft forums
Also as a theme for a texturepack "industrial" it would dated from late 1800s and early 1900s, it would also have steampunk undertones.
Also, Glimmar when my conversion of your pack progress to a later level would you mind giving me a way to download so i can take screenshots of it in the dock world you showcase your pack with?
How on earth did you get the potion bottles to bob up in down in that video? And how did you get the bottles to be a higher resolution?
I haven't even bothered with trying to texture the potion stand until now, but the default won't move even when it's brewing. And I didn't see a custom animation that would make it move in the zip file....
Never mind, I'm a dunce. Didn't look closely enough to realize that they were floating items. :tongue.gif:
Sorry everyone, I haven't been on the forum for a few days...stuff happening, but I can categorically assure you it has not been because of 'Skyrim'! :tongue.gif:
Yes I do have a copy of the aforementioned blockbuster (as I'm sure Notch does), but had to do a lot of travelling over the weekend, so although I do have it installed and have briefly seen how beautiful the landscape is, it has not been the reason for my absence...honestly.
I am, and will remain, devoted to Minecraft, but I am looking forward to a bit of Skyrim too. :smile.gif:
I'm still catching up on RL work after being away, but as soon as I can I'll carry on with updating my pack.
I got sidetracked by changing a number of the paintings in the standard sized art file...got rid of some of the wheels and engines...and at some stage I'll change things in the 'extreme art' file for when and if that mod gets updated. Oh, I also made a bunch more alts too...they're always a by-product of brainstorming a particularly difficult texture (like this blinkin' eye of ender block!).
Discovered Jeb has released a couple more updates, so will give those a run through tonight. After a quick glance, I'm almost sure there are no new textures to create, but a number of sounds have been changed and fixed, so I'm excited about that. I just hope the biome color side of things has been fixed, but I'm not holding my breath.
I haven't looked at anyone's posts above...sorry, but I will, when I get a chance :sad.gif: This is just so's I can concentrate on getting a meaningful update together.
Hope you're all as excited as me at the prospect of having a fully fledged Minecraft to play with soon...something modders can get to grips with after all these prepreprepre-releases! :biggrin.gif:
I've not forgotten about some of the things I've promised or the fact that I need to get textures up on the Customiser.
Will speak to you soon, hopefully with something new to see and play with.
The Swamp has not been changed; but do not fear! Kahr is on the case.
I was hoping kahr might be able to fix the hardcoded color problems...I look forward to seeing that. :smile.gif:
Have had a nice play with the RC2 minecraft.jar and was very pleasantly surprised at all the new sound effects. I especially love the new door and chest sounds, the fishing rod and bow changed sounds are ok for me. But the thing I loved the best was trying out the new unaggresive mobs in creative and discovering a 'steelyman' ender robot walking about the dockside and at last being able to walk alongside it and closely observe it's behaviour and new sounds. Wonderfully atmospheric and greatly encouraging me to work on lots of steam robot variations for the patcher, when there's time.
With all the mobs coming out at night on peaceful it had me in mind of a 'nightshift' of workers scurrying hither and thither...especially the 'steelyman' appearing to move things around.
First off I just want to say that I love the pack. I have changed a few things in it. But you definitly gave me the basis for everything.
Secondly, Is there something that says how to get some of the blocks? Like I dont understand how to get the alchemy stuff nor the cauldron. Are there recipies somewhere?
Thirdly, is there some tutorial somewhere on how to make animated blocks? Yours are absolutly amazing and I would like to make a few more, Like I use the better than wolves pack and would like to make my Gearbox animated.
Thanks so much! Keep up the great work. I actually think your blocks are getting better over time! You might think about doing a revamp some day when everything is over and done with.

Haha! Thanks, TheLetterKay. Glad you like a lot of my stuff. Also thanks for taking the time to say so...it is much appreciated. :smile.gif:
There's no tutorial for making the animated blocks that I'm aware of. They are linked to the MC Patcher like the custom animated water and lava etc. and so far it is only possible to animate terrain blocks and items. So I don't think you'd be able to animate any textures from other mods, unless kahr (author of the MC Patcher) made it possible.
Have a look at my animation strips and those now in other packs and try and see what's involved. It's a painstaking process to create even small effects, but some...like the cog movement...are actually quite simple and the cogs involve just two frames of animation, but the positioning of the teeth and the shading is quite critical between the two steps...get it wrong, and they appear to just tick back and forth, rather than looking like they are rotating round an axis.
When the dust settles, just trying to catch up with all the pre-release updates and the final finished version of Minecraft doesn't mean I will be finished. Not by a long shot. If Notch and life gives me a break then I will just continue to improve things and adding to the pack.
Speaking of improvements, I've just spent the afternoon working on the moon_phases.png which although I was very happy with the new set I did recently, I didn't complete them to my satisfaction. I'd intended adding more of a glow and some lighting effects that would give them a greater sense of hanging in the sky rather than looking like they were pasted on the inside of a dome.
So here is a single image taster...the rest (all seven of them) will be a surprise for my next update as all are even more individual and 'atmospheric'...well, as best I can in the time available:

Well, Girl Genius is being interesting again. (DOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!) Which reminds me, must look around for Girl Genius-themed skins.

Did you remember to use the MCPatcher? You need to use this for any texture packs greater than 16x.

Curse PremiumMuch thanks, stokesmellor. :smile.gif:
Congrats on gettin' a new machine, hope it's what you've been looking forward to...and hope the new moons (and other stuff) don't disappoint either.
