Ahh... That's what it was. I wondered about this myself.I recommend doing what Glimmar suggested.
I only realized this myself when the question was asked. Lol!
These pre-release Minecraft versions have created quite a bit of confusion for users and disparity between the texture packs and mods, with most texture artists feeling the pressure to keep up with Notch's new features and modders being more sensible and sticking with the stable 1.8.1
I just had an idea, if you ever completely finish/finish a large portion of your world, you could create a steam-punk TV show/ movie XD maybe a minecraft version of the league of steam! :tongue.gif:
If I ever retire, that's exactly what I'm looking forward to doing. I've only made 3 or 4 little movies, but really enjoyed making and uploading 'em. :biggrin.gif:
Actually I'm rather looking forward to Minecraft just being stable and finished, then I can finally complete the pack and look to building and mods and stuff. :smile.gif:
'League of Steam'? Just googled it...never heard of it! And what a spiffing place it is, so I made a shortcut for inspiration! Thanks, mate. :smile.gif:
*****************************************
On the subject of the bed again, although my preference is definately for something ambiguous like we have now, and not wishing to sound completely negative to those who like their beds cosy and warm, if time permits and if I did make a start on uploading to the Minecraft Customiser, an alternative would not be out of the question! However, I'll be stickin' to my re-animation bed...you, you softies! :tongue.gif: Besides...have you never thought about where all the zombies come from?
Does anybody know if this Texture pack works with 1.8?
If it does then i am sorry for not noticing it.
Texture Packs are usually backwards compatible, and this one is no exception. You won't be able to see anything Notch programmed in for the 1.9 pre-release versions, but unless Notch has changed the 'position' of a terrain block or item (and I don't think he did...just added new stuff), then you shouldn't notice any difference if you're still using 1.8. All the stuff in 1.8 is still in my pack + any improvements, eg. like my new faster 32x custom water, lava, fire and portal animations.
Installing the latest version 3.1 in your texture pack folder won't damage anything (they're just .png graphics) so give it a try, and definately no need to apologise for not noticing it...it's been around for a while now, but it keeps a low profile (it's exclusive to the Minecraft Forums Texture Pack Section), and for that hopefully makes it all the more special when discovered for the first time. :biggrin.gif:
Hope you it lives up to your expectations, darthdylan98. :smile.gif:
I'd like to point out that animated tiles do work in 1.8. Kahr's patcher automatically detects which version is installed and functions appropriately. I'm using it for 1.8 right now and everything works fine.

Thanks for letting me know. :smile.gif:
I haven't had the time to revert back and test it, so had to answer cautiously regarding 1.8 queries.
Looks like there will be quite a few new Steampunk-ish mods coming out shortly. The Weekly Content Contest for this week is Steampunk Mods. Wouldn't be surprised if you get a lot more requests to texturize for them… :dry.gif:

Lol! Yeh! I'm keeping my head down, but is it really feasible that a mod can be made in under a week?
I'm curious to see what comes out of it, but I'm not really one for any kind of competition myself (don't like the razamataz associated with such things.:biggrin.gif:), though I know this wouldn't have been open to texture packs anyway, but if any future comps feature texture packs, just so you know folks, I won't be entering and I'm of the opinion that competitions should only be open to new material anyway, and I'm definately not starting another texture pack!! :biggrin.gif:
Speaking of texturizing, Glimm, Can I get you to recolor bricks a dark purple again?
Haha! Have you got a pic of what I did before, selven, so's I can match the color? I can't find what I did before, but I remember doing it. :smile.gif:

The SteamCraft compatible version of my pack is edited by Proloe and the current version still contains the very hi-res custom animated water and lava, etc. which have caused much trouble for those with less powerful machines.
I addressed the problem of lag from v3.0 of my pack onwards, by making all the custom animated strips 32x equivalent.
If you are brave, you could drag my 32x custom water and lava strips out of my Glimmar's Steampunk v3.1 pack into Proloe's SteamCraft edited version. The lower-res versions have made a big difference for some. :smile.gif:
thank you kind sir glimmar now i can enjoy the splendor of your textures
Yea, sorry I haven't been stopping by more often, I've been having exams for the past couple of weeks! (finish tomorrow though, sweet!) Glad you understand though. :biggrin.gif:
I really do wish notch would fix the biome triangles and the transitions between biomes. I really loved your biomes, they were so varied and awesome!
We can always hope that it'll be fixed for the full release though. Only a couple more days until we find out!
Do you think it is allowed for them to get ideas off others? Because I tried making one, and failed miserably! Yet all the ideas of mine are still there...just waiting...pencil drawings and all, it is quite sad that I failed so spectacularly and destroyed my minecraft. :sad.gif: I think that whoever created the competition must use your texture pack Glim, it is the only explanation, considering the lack of steampunk type things for minecraft!
Very often people have the talent to programme, but don't have the ideas, so I'm sure someone will pick up on them. Hopefully they would credit you or whoever it was they got an idea off...something I don't always remember to do I hasten to add, considering what a melting pot of ideas this place is. :smile.gif:
I must admit I was a bit surprised at the choice of 'steampunk' as the second competition. :blink.gif:
WOW love this texture pack you must have put a lot if work into this
Thanks, RJ603. :smile.gif:
Over the past year I suppose I have put a lot of work in. I'm also pretty painstaking and critical and things go through numerous edits...so probably more hours than I care to calculate.

Yeh, the biome problem and the hardcoding of the drippy drips and stuff is a bit of a downer at the moment.
Is Notch still going ahead with an 11.11.11 release? I thought he'd put it back to avoid the rush for Skyrim.
Can't decide about that game by the way. I'm a PC only guy, so it pains me a little that one of my favourite series of all time (and I played the very first version on the Amiga!) seems to be intended for console, with a port to PC. :sad.gif: Someone please tell me it's not so. :ohmy.gif:
It works in 1.8 just fine. I'm still running 1.8 (the server I play on isn't updated for the pre-releases) and I don't have any issues.
...and glad torturran can confirm, along with others, that it does indeed work with 1.8...as it should.
Logically if you think about it, Notch usually only adds more stuff and only occasionally moves textures around. Therefore if you stick with an earlier version of Minecraft a more uptodate texture pack should still serve it's needs, unless you use a very old version of our favourite game, where the position of old textures has been moved (I'm thinking of things like the bed and redstone pipe textures).
If memory serves, I tried my own hand at recoloring the non-nether bricks and am immensely dissatisfied with the result.
I'll have a go as soon as I can, mate. I take it the shade of purple on the terrain.png you uploaded is roughly the one you're after? You're version of purple brick doesn't look bad to me, selven. :smile.gif:
I'm just wrestling with the Eye of Ender textures at the mo' and have started again with a new simplified version of the mob spawner. I've been very disatisfied with the mob spawner as found in the current version of GS. I'm also trying out a new version of gravel based on the giant edible mushroom texture.
The bricks themselves look pretty good, its the mortar in between that doesn't. There's not enough contrast from the bricks for it to be eye-catching. But yes, that's the shade o' purple I'm looking for.
Sorry to be off topic here, but I though I would share this for my esteemed fellows on this topic. It is not much, but the WHOLE works of H.P. Lovecraft! http://cthulhuchick.com/(I hope that the link is allowed, if not, I do apologise)
No, that's fine by me. :smile.gif:
I have the complete works of H.P. Lovecraft and dip into it from time to time, when in the mood. I didn't know it was on Kindle though...I must search for that version to add to my growing kindle library. :biggrin.gif:

I shall cast my beady eye over it and add a few more alts to the collection. :smile.gif:
Just bear with me though, as this flip'n Eye of Ender needs a good bashing, just can't get that perfect blend that also works as a plain ender block. :dry.gif:
hey glimmer just thinking out-loud here but it would be cool if you create a post on the screen shot forum for steam punk creations and link it to the first page of the TP page.
