Notch did throw something together for himself, but I don't think he released it (at least, not in any usable way). However, if you look on the home page of the forums today, you will see this link. Unfortunately, it only does player skins at the moment, but the creator said that having a mob editor was on their "to-do" list.
Haha! :biggrin.gif: I saw it this afternoon (the news page is the one place I regularly check, just incase Notch springs an update!) and it inspired me to do another skin. See below. :smile.gif:
I'm sorry I haven't been here recently, (I was in Turkey, this forum stopped sending me email reminders (again) and I have too much homework...) but I managed to finish my snow pegasus skin for the clay soldier mod... and some other stuff...

just found this video on youtube: think it's kind of steampunkish...(offtopic: yesterday (or today on some time zones) was my birthday :biggrin.gif:)
Love those skins, Dazqo.
I must apologise for not having gathered up all your previous offerings for the 'extras' download. :sad.gif: I'm psyching myself up to do it as I hate filing and housekeeping in RL.
I'd say that's more of dieselpunk than steampunk. Also, Happy Birthday! In other news, I just stumbled upon this little gem, if you're looking for more inspiration.
Yes, happy birthday Dazqo.
Thanks for the pic. I'm amazed how many things get the steampunk treatment. StarWars being no exception. :biggrin.gif:
I told balkon about your intrest in skinning his mod. he arleady has people to do skins for him.
I think you might be mistaken about my offering to skin any mod (I probably gave the wrong impression).
I'm interested in alsorts of mods, particularly mechanical/industrial style one's, but for some time now and for the foreseeable future I've been fairly clear that there's no way on earth I'd be able to do any additional work other than progressing slowly with my own pack. :smile.gif:
New Alternative HD Female Character for Glimmar's Steampunk
Here are a few pics of my new alternative female steampunk character:
Just some last minute edits to do, but I'll let you have the skin and an update to the pack as soon as I can, bearing in mind I should be working now. Just thought I'd follow up on the promise to make a female character, as a little break from RL slog! :smile.gif:
Are you sure? I think that the void uses the same particle system as the one we have underwater (that is, the first smoke particle from the particles.png image). For pre3, the only use I have found in the particlefield.png is for the ender portal textures. The game uses the image as an overlay, with a indigo hue hardcoded on it and a subtle movement animation in one axis. It also uses the tunnel.png image as a second overlay for it, providing a nice depth perspective. The texture also emits light on the surroundings (15 points, like glowstone). It is also rumoured that those two will be somehow used when rendering the actual ender dimension sky. I've been playing with those for some hours now (applying hue shifting on the particlefield image to override the hardcoded coloring), and experimenting with various noise overlays for the tunnel.png can produce some very nice (but still subtle) effects indeed. Check it out when you have the time, its a fun exercise...^^
Will you be showing off your experiments, Dante80. That's a lot of useful info in any event.
The dead -- chapter 1 -- by dbBased on steampunk there fore ontopic with this pack!
Run, that’s what they said to me; my legs giving out under the strain of my weight. I can’t keep this up, why am I running, they told me to shut up and run, that’s when it hit me, with a thud I collapsed no one can help me, no one would help me, they were to intent on escaping from it. I black out for what seemed like hours, with a constant scream that awoke me from the first step, I think they called it that, the first step. I was running all over again, but this time it was different, I wasn’t running away I was chasing, what was it though that had hit me from last time, I feel better this time though I might have been able to escape it. I fell. I blacked out and that was all I remember I swear! Don’t hurt me!“There is that scream,” I said to Harvey, one of the gate keepers, he was a large boy with a scar running down his face. “What scream?” Harvey repliedThat was it, the last stroke. I need to find out what is happening to me or what they are doing to me. I shift my left hand and reach for the chain, I yanked it and with my right hand I grabbed Harvey and choked him until he stopped moving and went blue, I grabbed the keys and unlocked my bracelets and chains. I saw the sword that was once Harvey’s. I ran towards the gate, swinging the sword the gate collapsed. Two guards, easy, slicing at the first and kicking at the other I managed to knock the both to the ground, decapitation was simple, a quick swing and the head comes off, I’m loving the power, its overwhelming almost evil. I should go for the power core of the ship, the power core is the heart of the airship, and that is where the officials of the airship are. I’ll ask my questions then, when there on the floor begging for a quick death. More guards, but these where different, they weren’t men these was machines, with their chests being the size of a small house and the arms being the size of trees. Running is my only hope, spiriting for the alley ways on the 67 floor, weaving between scrap metal and dustbins, I managed to get to the stairs, I would go for the elevators but they control them. This is where the raiders where, tom and jack raider; if anyone could help me it would be these two from the rumours I heard, they take down mk 10’s the fastest guards to roam the ship.“Where you want to go, kid?” snapped Tom, his red hair covering his ugly face.“Top floor, to kill the people who have made me a monster” I shouted.“You’re going to need help from alexander!” jack shouted back, more angrily then I am.“Where can I find him?” Knowing little of the ship, I needed there help.“The 70th floor, we should go now, you don’t look like you know what you are doing, kid” Tom said calmly but somehow mockingly. I’m killing him next I thought to myself. We headed down the stairs in silence not even a chough sliced the silence. When we reached the 70th floor the lights went out, alarming I was pushed to the ground and was hit over the head, I have been tricked was all I was thinking as the world went dark.
Not any more than posting cool steampunk pics. Glimmar's thread is full of this type of stuff. Inspiration is and always will be on topic. As far as "self advertisement"? So is any work posted by anyone but Glimmar. Mobs, textures done for mods, or any other work done by anyone accept Glimmar would fit in the same category. My point is, Dead's writing fits among everything we post to show our appreciation or admiration to Glimmar and/or steampunk. We can't pick and choose which should be allowed. It's all or nothing (unless Glimmar feels otherwise of course)
Faust indeed speaks the truth. Inspiration comes in many forms, and so long as it has some connection with Steampunk and admin are ok with it, it's fine by me.
Downloaded the newest version and messed around a bit. Here's what I R building (when I have the time). Things are keeping me busy these days, but I should be around....maybe
It's going to be a large compound stretching across the mountain range there

Oooo! I like compounds. :biggrin.gif: Also I like the scale, design and those cascades of water and lava, oh...oh, and the obligatory moon shot.
Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. :smile.gif:
I've been enjoying a little building too tonight. In the constant battle to texture stuff, I forgot just how necessary it is to keep building...it's both relaxing and the only way to look at new and old textures with a view to improvement.
Sorry 'bout the delay, herewith attached to this post below:
New Alternative HD Female Steampunk Character for Glimmar's Steampunk
To use...just copy and paste the above image to your desktop, rename to 'char' and drop a copy of it into the 'mob' folder in the texture pack. This will replace the standard male character... so if you want to switch back, keep a copy of that handsome little mustachiodude before you drop in your ladydude equivalent. :biggrin.gif:
My next texture pack update will contain both dude and dudette characters, but will still come with the male as standard...unless there is an overwhelming outcry that the default character should be female.
Let me know if you think there should be a vote on it. :smile.gif:
Anyways, as there was absolutely no response to the taster pics further up this page I'm not sure anyone will be interested. Oh well! :unsure.gif:
Also, I'm rather concerned about a few things to do with that paragrah; first off, the point you called it 'ladydude'. xD
Just showin' me age. :biggrin.gif:

Secondly; the concerning fact that you released a girlchar.pg with that disturbing blocky realism style you've got going on, you could have atleast.. done something!
Not sure what 'something' you're referring to. :blink.gif: :smile.gif:

And a thought that came to mind while reading the post.. the default male damage hurt thing'll still be there!
Yeh! She's a rough tough girl who's used to welding torpedoes onto ghast flanks! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks Glimmar. i am sad to have had to delete the custom animations but i like my mods and i like this texture pack and now with both it is not laggey as heck. also i think that the zeppelin mod is a perfect companion mod for this TP because what says Steam Punk like large blimps

Glad you got it to a working state. :smile.gif:
Yeh, in agreement with you there. So many great mods that would be perfect to steampunkify, anything industrial, but especially things like zeppelins.
If I manage to carve out a little free time this week, I'm thinking of having a play with the Randomobs side of things and add a few more monster robots if it's not too difficult.
Have fun, WillHoot and show us any nice constructions you make. :smile.gif:
I was using your pack again today, and I realized that I'd really like to have an alternate bed that looks like a real bed rather than a cyborg recharging station. Not that cyborg recharging stations aren't cool, I just think we need someplace for the non-metallic people to sleep. ^^

Nope. Real beds are useless fabrications. All you can do with a real bed is sleep in it and besides, my bed is definately not a cyborg recharging station...that's too StarWarsish and my time machine/Frankenstein/mindfocusing/torture bed is way too grungy and brassy to assist in recharging any glossy cyborgs unless they be The Brass Man. :smile.gif:
Besides which I think you're trying to send me off on a wild goose chase making beds! :biggrin.gif:
Also...my adaptable component bed is soon to be animated...try animating a bed-like bed. :tongue.gif:

I think you're onto something there!
The Borg always fascinated me as one of the most interesting StarTrek creations...very steampunk, just minus the brass, cogs and emotion, but definately that melding of man and machine. Many of the 'Minecraft CPU projects' have that Borg-like look to them.
Given infinite time, I'd love to have a go at building a Borgesque/Steampunk epic cube. :blink.gif: ^^
Hello, Glimmar. If you are reading this, I want to say a few things.
At first, before using this pack, I thought it was the worst pack ever.
Today, I believe you are the best texture pack maker ever.
I love this pack, and I will use it until I have to stop. Not that I will.
You have to keep up this amazing work, and I hope you work on this pack and don't let it fail.
I have no idea how you did this so amazingly, how you managed to execute the pack just right.
Everything about it is just amazing.
My favourite parts are the drill pickaxe, the chainsaw axe, and the diamond.
Love the diamond.
Oh, and the ores.
Well, I could sit here and say every part of your pack as my favourite.
But I won't.
I'll just say this.
Thanks.

As a little 'your welcome' for such a nice comment here's a little WIP from my Newglim world. I'm working on a pumping station which will be the source of much of the fresh water used in and around my dockland area.
I'll post some more pics in the daylight when there's a little more to show.
It kind of happened by accident. As I was stripping a mountain of it's layer of dirt to create a waterfall, and having just visited Malham Cove and Gordale Scar last week, I wondered if it was possible to create some kind of weird geological formation as a special feature. It looked ok in the daylight, but rather dull at night, so had the idea of sticking a gaslight ontop of every stone block for that nice twinkly effect the lights give at night.
I'm currently working on some kind of glass roof at the mo' with the mountain of light stuck out the top...not sure it will work, but it's a great break from texturing and good food for the imagination. It's too easy to get stale just grinding texture after texture out.
After I've finished the roof, I'm working on a redstone perpetual water pumping machine like my 'Difference Engine'...only pretend, but at least it'll make a noise and move and look like it's involved in pumping water or purifying it or something.
This is remarkably beautiful.
I look forward to future developments.
Regarding the cactus, couldn't you make it into a sort of crystal? (It would be almost like Tiberium in application, now that I think about it.)
the only issue is that the crystals would have to still be in the cylindrical shape. but i would go for that idea especially with refining them to the green dye it would make since if they were green. if you could get around that i would love the crystal idea too.

Damn, looks epic. If you managed to make either official or unofficial textures for Trains, Equivalent Exchange, and Buildcraft, we would have total SteamPunk Minecraft at hand.

ya build craft defiantly needs to be be steam-punked. and the one for IC doesn't work with IC2 so if that gets updated it would be nice(i know its not build by Glimmar).
